We found out she was unlicensed after we already hired her even though she told us she otherwise. We appreciated her work to find us the carpet, vinyl plank flooring and tiles we were looking for, but we didn't appreciate the flooring installers that she used. One guy would show up late and smelling of alcohol from what I'd guess is a previous night of drinking. After he'd show up late in the morning then he'd take a lunch break not long after he'd just got here. That isn't even the worst part. He laid the planks down and it looked beautiful. Unfortunately, the floor made a crinkly plastic sound whenever and wherever we walked. The installer had to ask his uncle about it to get some advice. He had to remove all the flooring and transitions, plastic sheeting and redo it all. He had to sand the flooring to remove any adhesive and it got dust all over EVERYTHING in the kitchen and adjacent rooms. It left a mess. What really pissed us off was when we had the problem with the flooring, Lani told us to take it up directly with the installer. She had washed her hands of the situation at that point. We didn't hire him. We hired Lani. She should have dealt with the problem and made sure it was fixed, not dumped it on us. I've included a photo of the transition pieces the installer used after he had to rip out the first ones to fix the incorrect installation of the floor the first time. It doesn't match. The first transition pieces he brought were a perfect match. We didn't want them back in our house after this fiasco so now we have to live with it as is. read more

Lani, The Flooring Lady, did my open riser stairway, landing and small upstairs hallway. I removed the existing carpet myself (to cut cost) and her guys installed the vinyl planks that I purchased from Lowe's. Because my children were on vacation in Vegas during the holidays, my availability to get the work done was very limited and Lani was able to squeeze my project in between Christmas and new year. The work area was cleaned very well at completion of the project and they disposed of all the trash and extra material. My children and i are extremely impressed and happy with the end result. I'll gladly be the first to review The Flooring Lady, Lani Chevalier! We had to re-carpet my in-laws 700sq ft townhouse while they were away on vacation, sort of a surprise. They were only going to be away for about 10 days so we didn't have much time. I was actually looking on Angie's List for a carpet installer but for some strange reason I just decided to look on Yelp for kicks and found The Flooring Lady. I called Lani and explained our situation and scope of the job. We were going to buy the carpet ourselves and have them install it. After speaking to Lani on the phone, she met me at the job site the next day to give us an estimate and go over a tentative plan for the install. This was Wednesday. She also gave us a few recommendations on carpet and padding saved a bunch of money by having them purchase the carpet at wholesale. She also recommended an easy to install vinyl wood-looking flooring for the kitchen which had water damaged wood flooring. We ended buying the flooring and installing that ourselves, really easy! We agreed to the estimate on Wednesday night and she had the materials and the installer (Julie Akin) there at 9am on Friday morning. We did the install in two phases since we had to move furniture around so they finished the carpeting on Saturday morning on schedule at 11:30am as promised. We finished moving all the furniture back in to place and cleaned up before the in-laws came home Sunday evening. They were thrilled at the new carpet! From my first phone contact till invoice, The Flooring Lady was so thorough in communicating through phone, text, and email. She delivers what she says she is going too! Our time table on this job was critical and involved coordinating family members to come and pitch in at different times since we all have jobs. It was a wonderful experience to deal with Lani Chevalier, The Flooring Lady. She was warm, friendly and most importantly, her service was very professional and prompt. Anyone taking care of their family certainly has their priorities right, and Lani proved it while she had to rush to take care of her ailing father she never missed a beat in getting the flooring job done for me. She is wonderful when it comes to communication. She was prompt in letting me know if she was going to be late for an appointment and didn't keep me waiting as I have with other contractors. Her crew was very friendly and courteous and their quality of work was wonderful. All in all, it was a great experience working with Lani. Couldn't be more happy with lani and her workers. They were able to get me new carpet, installed at a very reasonable price. I was so impressed with the work I went ahead and hired them 2 weeks later to install the rest of the home with new tile. They found the color I wanted and was able to cut the tile off property due to restrictions through the building. Very professional and lani is one of the most friendliest people you'll meet. We actually chose to contact Lani based upon another Yelp review, specifically that in addition to installation that she would able to help us select a carpet, cutting out the step of venturing out to a vendor, figuring out delivery, etc. Lani was prompt in responding to an email inquiry and we set up a phone call appointment then a home visit shortly thereafter. During the initial home visit Lani took measurements and made some recommendations regarding padding and carpet selection based upon our needs. Two days later she sent a detailed work estimate that was better on cost than we expected. We accepted the offer and requested a quick install. She was able to accommodate later that week. Her work crew was prompt and efficient. They removed and disposed of all old carpeting, performed a flawless install, and cleaned up after themselves, leaving just the remnants from our carpet selection. They used less padding than expected, and because the padding is usable on other jobs, Lani provided us a refund for the unused amount. That's the details, but here's the sense of quality and customer care: Lani arrived exactly on time to each scheduled meeting. Her work crew performed a flawless installation. Her work crew cared about the property, ensuring that it was left better than they found it. She only accepted full payment after a careful walk-through after installation. It's evident that she is concerned about the conduct of her crew and how it reflects her business and the industry. She cares that her business reflects professionalism and that her customers are satisfied. It's evident that she's devoted to providing customers with the best overall value for their money.
