I have to confess, the Flame was my lunch's bridesmaid today. I started my lunch drive heading in the direction of a seeming recent yelpers' hang, intent upon adding my two cents to the flood of reviews. Lesson one. . . read not only the reviews, but also the hours of operation. Not only was my bride not open for lunch. . . but it was also not open on Tuesdays at ALL. Disappointed, I turned for home, wondering what I'd have for lunch since I'd been focused to the point of excluding any other potential venues from consideration, when I decided on The Flame. I like barbecue, pulled pork, etc, and it sounded good. I've eaten at The Flame (or rather ordered from then taken out) several times, and always enjoyed it, but this was my first visit with an eye toward "reviewing it". Unfortunately this was not my best visit. Waitstaff (the lady behind the counter) seemed not to be having a great day. Though she wasn't outright hostile, neither did she make any attempt to welcome me to The Flame, saying simply, "Did you order for pickup?" and at my negative response, "What can I get you?" I think that, and the amount owed (upon collecting my food to go) was the extent of our dialog. I decided to jump on the Mac 'n' cheese 'n' insert food item bandwagon and ordered the Stock o' Mac with pulled pork, and a side of sweet potato fries. I love me some sweet potato fries. I collected my plastic shopping bag and left the 'welcoming' fires of the barbecue behind. The Stack o' Mac was good. Really good, honestly. Upon initial inspection it looked like nothing so much as a pile of pulled pork on top of Kraft Macaroni and Cheese Deluxe despite indications of home made mac'n'cheese. It was sooo much better than Kraft. I guess I'm not sure what I was REALLY expecting from homemade mac and cheese. That it would LOOK like the noodles were homemade? Stupid. It was velvety and sharp and delightful and upon further review, surprised me that the sole criticism of it was that there wasn't more of it, since what I'd really been drawn to was not so much the macaroni, but the pulled pork. The portion size was a tad smaller than I'd have liked. It's not a huge criticism, because I probably don't NEED to be eating more than what was given, and there was a hefty bunch of pulled pork on top of it. . . but I liked it more than I thought I would, and I think it would have balanced out the dish a little if there'd been more of the great mac 'n' cheese. The sweet potato fries were also good, but "floppier" than I prefer. I like a nice crisp fry. But these had great skin-on, earthy, sweet flavor, and when I got home and dipped them in a little Sweet Baby Ray's (cause that's how I roll) they were very tasty and I found that relative to the total experience my disappointment with the texture was pretty minor. Cost wise, it's not a bunch to spend. $10.86 for lunch. But this is Millvale. Relative to the surroundings and what the neighboring establishments charge. . . it actually seems sort of spendy. I expect, for example, to drop $15.00 or more for lunch in Pittsburgh on any given day (with tip). But Millvale? There was no tip to worry about, but also no drink. Seemed like a bit much for a bit too little. Overall, I'll definitely be back. I don't think I'd counsel anyone to undertake a journey to visit, but certainly if you're in the area and have a hankerin' for pulled pork or chicken wings, it's a good venue.

pulled pork.

Beautiful outdoor covered patio and extensive menu of BBQ options!!…read more We stopped for a weekend Brunch around 10:30 and the place was still completely empty! The hostess stand is a bit of a farce - the employees seemed to hope that people would just seat themselves. Even when we were greeted - they said to just pick your own seat anyway! The decor is pretty cool. I'm partial to the stacked wood for the smoker as you enter, but the rustic feel of everything made the vibe come alive. With the smoker right next to the patio, the wonderful smell of the barbecue permeated the entire restaurant. The brunch menu was just as extensive as their lunch/dinner menu. We grabbed two coffees - which seems like a rarity - as they brought sugar and milk in little dipping sauce cups. The candied bacon was a MUST. 6 slices of thick cut bacon drizzled in brown sugar for only $6. Walter's Benedict with Pork Belly will stalk my dreams... the flavorful crust charred to the fork tender pork belly casually laying on the buttery, crispy chive biscuit smothered in the perfect hollandaise is the brunch you dream of but never really comprehend. Brisket Hash was unfortunately a nightmare though. The menu doesn't inform you that the brisket will be chip chopped into fine dust and coated in hot sauce. It was so spicy that it was almost inedible and the 1/4" of oil under the potatoes and eggs proved that even the hot sauce felt like crying. In all, the amazing waitresses and cool setting outweigh the one menu issue! We will be back!

Probably wouldn't order again as I'd definitely prefer one of their bbq sandwiches over this. Potato salad was pretty standard. Also tried some brisket and pork belly. Both were tasty. Really enjoyed their bbq sauce as well. Overall, nice lil spot. Beers were cold. Food was decent. Our waitresses were great as well. Wouldn't mind coming back for some more bbq soon.

Off the Rails Barbeque and Drafthouse - BBQ Platter

Off the Rails Barbeque and Drafthouse is a local, family-owned and -operated restaurant…read morethat serves barbecued meats, sides, sandwiches, alcoholic beverages, and more for lunch, dinner, and catering for dining in, pickup, and delivery. Their website says that they use ingredients from local farms and suppliers and make their foods fresh daily. Outside the restaurant are the smokers that they use to slow-cook the meats. The brisket and pork are said to be smoked for 12-14 hours. My husband and I ate at this restaurant years ago, but for some reason my previous review is not here. We liked Off the Rails then and still like it. Most recently, we ordered the BBQ Sampler Platter, which consisted of a 1/2 pound of brisket, 1/2 pound of pulled pork, 1/2 pound of pulled chicken, 1/2 rack of St. Louis ribs, and choice of three sides. I rate the flavors of each of these meats at 5 stars and the flavors of the mac-n-cheese, baked beans, and crispy Brussels sprouts as 4.5 stars each. The pulled pork and pulled chicken came with three bread buns to make sandwiches. I saw three house-made sauces--Carolina Gold, Kansas City, and Lexington-style Mop--and they tasted very good. The ribs were not pull-off-the-bone, but they were probably the first batch of the day. We had arrived 40 minutes after their opening time. An employee had tried to get us to substitute the ribs with another meat, but we instead decided to wait about 20 minutes for the ribs to be done. We also ordered Smoked Fried Wings, which have many available dry rubs and sauces, but we got the house seasoning with no sauce. An employee said a chupacabra rub. These wings tasted fantastic and were the best food of our meal. We LOVED their crispy and delightfully seasoned skin and their juicy insides. I do not have a receipt, but the total price for our foods and one soda should have been just under $100 plus a tip. We had leftovers and put those in large and small plastic containers that I had brought from home. (Other reviewers said that customers are not allowed to take home leftovers, but we went on a day with no special prices, and we had enough leftovers for two more meals at home!) We loved the wings so much that on "wing night" a few days later, we returned for the wings and some other sides. On Wednesdays the restaurant charges only $1 per wing. We ordered the allowed maximum of 6 wings, which we again LOVED, as well as spicy collard greens (4 stars), coleslaw (with little dressing, 3.5 stars), and cornbread (4.5 stars). Note that live music is played on certain days of the week.

Food and drinks are ready in just a few minutes and the dining area is ample with clean tables and clean floors. An upgrade of plastic utensils would be appreciated however. The chili was especially good as was the pork BBQ sandwich. Prices were reasonable to add to the experience. Parking can be a problem but there is some to be found on the other side of the street but lacks a crosswalk so be very careful.

Two Brothers BBQ - Award winning Ribs!

Two Brothers BBQ

I greatly regret having to write this review. I contacted Two Brothers Barbeque some time ago to…read morecater my wedding. Initially, I had a wonderful experience. The individual I worked with, Terri, was initially responsive and accommodating and made me feel at ease about booking this business. I put down a deposit in early November. Later in November I reached out for some more information to aid in the planning of my wedding reception. However, I never heard back. I was not unduly concerned because this is a barbeque business and I thought this might be their "off-season". I assumed they would get back to me when they were able. I did not hear back from Two Bothers Barbeque, even when springtime rolled around, so I called them a couple of times. I did not hear back. At this point, I got concerned because our wedding was in only three months. I was eager to speak to them to have some questions answered. My fiancé suggested we drive to the business, so we could connect with them. When we drove to the business, we were rather dismayed to see many signs stating "Business for Sale." There was a phone number on one of the "For Sale" signs, so I called it and said that I had seen their "For Sale" signs and was interested in talking about this. At this time, I did not tell them my name or state that I was a client. I got a return call pretty immediately. When I received the call-back, I explained that I had emailed and called the business without hearing back, and that I was concerned that the business was for sale, as we were counting on them catering our wedding. The gentleman on the phone (the owner, I believe) said they were retiring and were winding down the business, but that they planned to honor all scheduled events. He said he would have Terri call me. I was extremely relieved - but only for a short while. Terri called after several minutes. I explained the situation to her. I told her that I was concerned because I hadn't received a response to my email or phone calls and then saw that the business was for sale. She said that the catering part of the business was for sale, as well as their food trucks, but they would still honor their contracts for the summer. However, she then said she would just refund my money if I was uncomfortable. I was taken aback - I had said nothing about cancelling the contract and was really just nervous about the prospect of the business being sold. I received no kind of apology for the lack of communication. Terri said that she hadn't responded to my email in November because I sent it too close to Thanksgiving and that she never received my phone calls. At some point during this conversation, Terri became quite hostile, raising her voice and becoming accusatory. She blamed me for the lack of contact and did not take responsibility for failing to respond. The situation became truly unsettling; in fact, may I say, deeply shocking. Terri did say that she had some medical concerns, which I do sympathize with. However, I have had a number of medical issues, some of them quite serious, and I have never treated a client this way. Ultimately, I stated that she could cancel the booking and send the refund, which was what she appeared to want to do in the first place. It really seemed like she did not care too much about the business or leaving us in a precarious position of having no caterer for our wedding. I left the phone call truly bewildered and told my fiancé I was sorry and that I had lost the caterer for our wedding. He said, "You shouldn't be sorry. You did absolutely nothing wrong." (He had been listening to this conversation.) We went home and brainstormed new possibilities, and, luckily, found another local business that was more than willing to cater for us. They have been a dream to work with. I know this review probably does not matter because Two Brothers is retiring from catering, but it is important that people be careful when dealing with this company. If you have a current date booked with them, please considering making a back-up plan. I'm not sure this business cares to uphold its promises, nor does it take responsibility for its own actions. Please be prepared for the worst-case scenario.

This place is a low class bbq place, I cannot speak to ownership. But, the way the situation was handled is completely unacceptable. I do not care if they are now a catering business alone. The way they acted is ridiculous and you should hire another bbq catering company. Btw, why would anyone say . Best of luck to you, hope a girl doesn't beat your A**" How dumb.... Instead, this was hands down the fastest large-group dinner I've ever had. Orders moved quickly, food came out hot, and nothing felt chaotic. For a group this size, that level of execution is genuinely impressive. Let's be clear: this is not Texas-style, 18-hour, smoke-ring BBQ--and it's not trying to be. What they do well is consistency and customization. You get six different sauces, and they actually ask whether you want your meat lean and dry or juicy. I went juicy, and my portions were flavorful, tender, and satisfying. I ordered the beef brisket and pulled pork, and also tried the pulled pork sandwich. Solid across the board. They were out of the cream corn (bummer), the mac and cheese was fine and comforting, and the cornbread was excellent--classic, slightly sweet, and the clear standout. This is BBQ built for scale: fast, reliable, and crowd-friendly. If you're feeding a large group and want everyone served quickly, with options and no drama, Mission BBQ absolutely delivers--even if it's not chasing smoke-ring perfection.
