The food is amazing and the best barbecue I've had since moving to Pittsburgh. It's very affordable, especially with their lunch deal and the service is always kind and quick. It's a nice little walk up restaurant so you can have a peaceful time outside eating your meal or take it home. I recommend everyone try this place, especially for their Philly cheesesteaks and their gumbo in the fall! read more

I've been here previously and I've obviously forgotten to review the complete deliciousness here. Today's choice was the whole hog. Pulled pork with cheese, peppers. Onions the whole kabang. There's so much meat I saved a bunch and I'll slap it on some Cellones and get 2 sammiches out of it. The service is quick & deliberate so very minimal wait times. Then the prices are incredible and especially in today's world of inflation. Dig in my friends... read more

I've had Rowdy twice before today. Never ordered a sandwich, we did catering before. So first impressions, odd looking place along 51 with all kinds of things painted on it, oh any several smokers. I parked and was immediately greeted with a heavenly smell of meat smoking. It smelled amazing. I've been told they have an amazing cheesesteak, so I decided I need to try it. As I was ordering I saw a sign out front stating they had brisket chili today too. So I wanted to try that as well. I ordered and was told it would be 5 minutes. It was only about 3 minutes later and my food was ready. I was handed an extremely heavy bag of goodness. I drive back to work and cracked the chili open first. I am very critical of chili, so I wasn't sure. I didn't think I would like the corn added but I can tell you the chili was really good. I asked for the cheese and onions on the side. Next I cracked open the cheesesteak. While it's not a long cheesesteak, it's absolutely crammed full of meat. I was amazed how heavy it was. I had to use a fork to eat until it was safe to actually pick it up. It was one of the better cheesesteaks in this area that I've had. And at $8.50, it's a bargain. On the catering side I've had the pulled pork and brisket which I really like. I wasn't a fan of the pulled chicken. We also had some good macaroni and cheese from here, decent potato salad and beans. read more

Place is right across from where Mcginnis used to be and about caddy corner from the getgo. It has been here for years and often services community events. I never reviewed them which is surprising as this is my neighborhood and I'm 3 mins drive away. Today I had the pulled pork sandwich only $6 with overloaded pork! My friend had the whole hog sandwich (only $9 even in inflation!!!) this photo especially for the whole hog does not do it justice. This sandwich is big enough for 3 meals for me, 2 for anyone else probably. You cannot even pick it up it's so full (toppings cheddar cheese, mushrooms, onions), need fork to eat it probably knife too. Everything on their menu is incredible, probably best bbq in Pittsburgh. Staff very efficient and friendly, took less than 10 mins. It is more or less a stand to order from and there are picnic tables outside but most just take and go. Very good and also popular in the area over many years! read more

Great price for the portion of food! Pulled pork had a great smoke flavor, French fries are as fresh as you can get them. Smokers were going in the back always a good sign. Will definitely be back when in the area! Thanks read more

Awesome perfectly cooked food. Always an amazing meal when we go get their food. Been a staple in our family for years

Dang, good BBQ. Reasonable prices, large portions, great quality and flavor. The most "fall off the bone" ribs I've ever had. COVID = "masks required" right on the window where you order... no exceptions. Employees also had masks on. read more

We tried this bbq for the first time for dinner tonight. I ordered the half rack of ribs with potato salad. The ribs were very tasty just a little to thick for my liking. The potato salad was good too just not my favorite as it had green peppers. The hot pepper cheese balls were really good and so was the dipping sauce that came with it. My boyfriend ordered the steak and potato hoagie and really enjoyed it. I had a taste of it as well and it was really delicious! The fries were fresh cut and cooked just right. We'll definitely be back to try out more things from their menu. read more

Everything I've ever had from Rowdy is fantastic. Well worth the drive from Pleasant Hills to pick up. The brisket sandwich is my favorite, the pulled pork is fantastic. Everything just tastes great. I really appreciate the smoky taste and great barbeque sauce. For some reason, people in the 51 corridor think barbeque sauce is spicy ketchup. I've never understood that. read more

Decided to try this place out tonight after driving by it for years and always saying we want to stop. So happy we did! We got the bbq pulled pork sandwiches, a half rack of ribs, and a side of fries. It is decently priced for the amount of food you get. They don't short you in the amount of food. The meats are amazing and really meaty (not fatty at all). It was ready within 10 minutes. We took it home to eat and everything tasted amazing!! Really good sauce and smoked flavor. We can't wait to come back. read more

Tremendous value! Split a variety of sandwiches since we couldnt decide. Went with the whole hog (pulled pork cheddar and toppings), the cajun cheesesteak, and the buffalo chicken. The horsey sauce on the cheesesteak was the star...needs to be on the pork! Everything was great except the bbq sauce of the pork lacked a little flavor. Ill just ask for a side of horsey next time and a win win! Quick and easy takeout stand. Will definitely be back and surprised i havent tried prior read more

I love Rowdy BBQ! First of all, the food is overall great. Honestly, I have had some bad experiences there food wise, but it's super rare, and I'm sure they would've made it right, had I bothered to bring it up with them, but I understand no one can be perfect, and mistakes happen. For 2-3 years, I feel like some of their items went from 5 stars to 3 stars, but as of 2021, it's definitely back up to 5 again, so if you went previously, and maybe weren't a big fan of what you had, give them another go! If you're trying to figure out what to get, don't worry, because everything's exceptional. My favorites are the pulled pork or chicken, triple cheesesteak hoagie, sam special or chili cheese hotdogs, and the mac and cheese! (I love putting the Mac on my triple cheesesteak or putting some of the copious amounts of pork from my sandwich into the Mac) Prices? Easy. No one else offers food this great at prices so fair, especially for meats. It's crazy! It's even less for a meal with their lunch special. Finally, I'll forever love them for standing up to the jagoffs that think it's okay to not only refuse to wear a mask, but also harass their employees. They stand behind the safety of their staff and customers, and this means the world to me. I feel safe and valued as a customer, and how a business treats their staff is a reflection of who they are as a company. Go Rowdys!!!! read more

We get the brisket sandwich when we go, and it is really better than the price. Very affordable for very well done BBQ in my opinion.

If you want a real southern BBQ experience, then you need to head on down to Rowdy BBQ. This place is the real deal, with mouth-watering BBQ that will have you coming back for more. The ribs are my personal favorite, they are so tender and falling off the bone, and the flavor is out of this world. The pulled pork is also fantastic, and the chicken is juicy and flavorful. But it's not just the food that makes Rowdy BBQ so great, it's also the atmosphere. This place has a real down-home feel, and the staff are all super friendly. It's the perfect place to kick back and relax with some great food and good company. So if you're in the mood for some delicious BBQ, then be sure to check out Rowdy BBQ, you won't be disappointed! read more

Best brisket and pulled pork. There Cajun Cheese steak is fantastic. The service is quick.

Great place. Philly cheesesteak was very good and I have had MANY in Philly from the most notable places. I thought it was a little small until I started to eat it and realized just how much food there was! Fries were fresh and delicious also, and there are refills on the drinks! read more

Listen! Just went there for a burger cuz I get this craving like twice a year! Great Food!!! The Gen Z in there kept yelling for a "Tom" when I just ordered and was visibly the only person outside. So I told her that I was the only person outside & she proceeded to yell for "Tom" 2 more times! Then I sat and waited for almost 45 mins for a burger and she never called for me so I went up to ask and my food was seating there getting cold! So really bad customer service and just rude! read more

Food was good but to my mom at least she said the sauce was to plain but it didn't bother me because the amazing Smokey flavor of the meat with the sauce was good read more

Not that impressed. I drove by this place for a while and never saw a crowd of people so I'm not that surprised by my review. I had the pulled pork sandwich and a side of Mac and cheese. The pulled pork was dry, not smoky, and didn't taste like much. I was hoping for it to taste like barbecue sauce, but was disappointed. I did like the bun it was on. The Mac and cheese lacked flavor and seasoning. It was a wet Mac and cheese that just tasted like Velveta. read more

Updating because as someone who has been coming here for years, this spot deserves 5 stars without a doubt. Best french fries around, delicious homemade bbq sauce, super incredibly tasty sandwiches.. you can't go wrong. The prices are affordable, the service is always excellent and prompt, and the food doesn't disappoint. Most recently, I ordered some cheese fries to go, as I had an intense craving. SO good. The fries are fresh cut and are never burnt. Everything here is so tasty! read more

I've never visited this restaurant before, but I loved their BBQ I sampled at the Rib Festival last summer. I was very happy to see they had all the favorites of traditional BBQ, as well as some Pennsylvania flair with cheese stakes. I ordered the Big Pig, a pulled pork sandwich with melted cheddar cheese on top. For only $7, I was not expecting for the sandwich to be as large as it was. I had enough for leftovers the next day, as this was a footlong sandwich packed with pork. The pulled pork was juicy and flavorful, the BBQ sauce mixed perfectly with the cheddar cheese, and the bun had a nicely toasted crunch. As a side, I ordered potato salad and was very happy with my choice. The dish had a great proportion of potato wedges, celery chunks, and mayo. It brought a freshness to the meal that complemented the savory flavors of the sandwich. This restaurant definitely knows how to create the taste of summer! read more

Ate here many times in the past and looking forward to eating here again. Solid 5 stars but best when shared with friends.

Holy moly.. a Brentwood treasure. A Pittsburgh gem. If you've never been, beg them for gumbo (it's seasonal, so they may not have it) and a whole hog sandwich. I've had much more but those are my favorites. I'd stock my fridge with the gumbo year round if I afford to. They've never done me wrong. read more

Really good BBQ, I'll say the first time I ordered takeout from them, pulled pork, they forgot to include the sauce. I kept saying, this meat is so awesome, I'm not concerned there's no sauce! But then I actually tried their sauce and it's really good as well. Sounds like the makings of a great BBQ spot! I loved their coleslaw because it's actually creamy and is seasoned correctly. Coleslaw can easily be so bland. Not here! I wish I was out in this area more because I would absolutely stop in more often. Guess it will have to be a special trip, but worth it! read more

We have lived in the area for over 20 years but this was our first time going to Rowdy. We ordered the deluxe cheesesteak and the brisket sandwich. Both were delicious. The key for me was the soft hoagie roll. The onion rings were good too. My husband liked the coleslaw and the potato salad was ok. We will definitely be back to try other things on the menu. We were happy to see how busy they were. Give Rowdy a try. read more

Not much seating, but great for takeout. Good solid barbeque, nothing substandard. Good sides & fries, burgers and hot dogs available.

Love it here! Best ribs, brisket, and fries! Highly recommend

Big bag of home cut fries were tasty!. Mac & Cheese has little tomato chunks in it, the same way I make it, love it with tomatoes in it!!!..Nice touch! The ribs were nicely smoked, ordered the hot BBQ sauce but got the middle and it was OK but not what we wanted. Oh Yea, it is take out. They do have a couple of picnic tables but a little to cold tonight to eat out! read more

What a varied menu for a BBQ shack! There is so much more than just BBQ; Rowdy also has sandwiches, cheesesteaks, burgers, and wings. I've tried quite a few things from their menu and I can honestly say I have never been disappointed. My favorite thing to get is the ribs, which are fall off the bone with a mild smoky flavor. I like to get them with their original BBQ sauce with a side of their hot BBQ sauce. It's nice to have an option for sauces even if it's just two. When you get ribs, it also comes with a side. Rowdy BBQ is a grab and go place and you usually get your food pretty quickly. Another reason to love Rowdy BBQ is that they're open year round! read more

Without a doubt, some of the best bbq in the pittsburgh area. Everything is pickup, but there are some benches outside for when the weather is nice. It's good idea to call ahead and order because quality food takes some time to be prepared. The servings are extremely generous! So be careful just how much fries you order. The ribs are absolutely perfect, meat falls right off of the bone and there is very little gristle. The sandwiches as well are enormous, and so good! The food is good....but....understaffed and the staff that is there isn't prepared to handle an influx of guests. We live a little over half an hour from rowdy's, so we always order ahead. Usually no problem...this Sunday, we were told that it would be an hour for our order. Sure no problem...we will just leave our house a half hour before it was due to be ready. It was 'due' at 4:22 pm. We finally got to the window (of course there is a line, in the sun) around 440. Told it would be an few more minutes'. At 452...half hour after we were originally told and 90 minutes after placing the order, it was done. We were unceremoniously handed three large bags. My order was announced as 'the one for 435'. I did make a correction and state 'actually, 422'. Not even an apology. Also of note...our order was short two sides. For an hour round trip drive, I ate the cost...no way I'm going back. And speaking of cost, prices have gone up due to the meat shortage....which is 100% fair...if the website were also updated, that would be great. My husband was informed prices were 'a little more' but in certain cases they were about 10-40% higher...which you find out due to a sign taped to the window after you get there. read more

As someone who lives just north of Pittsburgh, I am definitely one of those people who grumbles whenever I have to cross a bridge and/or go through a tunnel to get somewhere. There may be traffic and it may or may not add 30 seconds on to my drive, but the thought of it usually puts me in a grumpy mood and I'll act as if this extra 30 seconds means I have to pack an overnight bag. Yet when I set out to get take-out from Rowdy BBQ, I was not even thinking about the location. Until I was sitting in stand still traffic on 51. With nowhere to go but forward, onward to the Brentwood Express shack for some barbecue I went. I arrived in one piece, greeted by the Rowdy Rooster, thankful that delicious barbecue would be my reward. I'm pretty sure I've been here before, but it's been so long ago I don't even remember what I ate. And I'm pretty sure someone else drove which is why I didn't remember the traffic. Nevertheless, I went with my usual pulled pork sandwich and mixed it up with the buffalo chicken sandwich. One for now, one for later. The pulled pork was good, though I was surprised by the cheddar cheese sauce as opposed to sliced or shredded cheese on top. The buffalo chicken sandwich, which I got with provolone instead of the cheddar cheese, was better in my opinion than the pulled pork. And after reading other reviews, I think I may have made a mistake by not getting any sides. Should I brave 51 again, I will definitely repeat that buffalo chicken sandwich. Along with some sides and maybe some brisket or one of those amazing looking cheesesteaks. And next time I'll call ahead so I can spend my time sitting in traffic as opposed to waiting for my order. Then maybe I can update my review and add another star. read more
