After months of reading great reviews about the Equestrian Grill, we decided to give it a try on a Friday night. I'm glad we made reservations. The sweet dinner rolls were nice and hot. I was the only one who had a side salad - there were a lot of onions. The entrees? The salmon was ever so slightly over cooked, but had a very good flavor. The sides were sides and the garlic knots were awesome. The shrimp Diablo? If you like fresh pasta, shrimp (there were a lot!) and a sauce that lets you know it's there, you will love this dish. The heat wasn't too overpowering, but it definitely made itself known and had such good flavor! There were desserts, but we were way too full to try them. Definitely coming back! read more

The prices are relatively high so you expect a decent meal- yikes. four of us ordered and all 4 meals were NOT WORTH eating. The Churassco steak was literally chewy tough meat on a plate, no seasoning and could not be cut- it was a big piece, but it's supposed to come with french fries, but didn't then when we asked for the fries about 20 minutes later they brought them and of charged us $4 for them - the fries had no taste. No salad dressing for the salads. Which were literally just shredded, iceberg and tomato. My favorite food is steak & fries... i should have been excited. The salad looked like a McDonald's big mac topping without the burger. The pork chops were so dry & tough and the white rice smelled like a mildew towel and sweaty feet. The pasta tasted like a bottle of expired wine mixed with tomato paste. It was so bad. None of us ate - and we always eat! on top of all of that, the bathroom was disgustingingly filthy like a 711 on a hot summer day. My family and I love to eat and none of us ate any of it. The people working g there were sweet but seriously do not know how to serve or cook. Steak & fries should come with fries. Salad should come with dressing. Excellent breakfast, lunch and dinner menus. Pastries have been added recently and are excellent. Serves a combination of Argentina and Italian entrees that are equally good. The quality and quantities are notably top notch. I've ordered pizzas to go on several occasions and have never been disappointed. Today we went to try their new breakfast menu and it was well worth the visit. Coffee was strong as I like it. Eggs were done to order, bacon was thick and tasty, potato hash was not as crispy as I like but I'll let them know the next time. They serve a breakfast empanada that one of my guests said was delicious. Pancakes received compliments as well. The inside has the decor of a sports bar but the food served is above what you would expect from such a venue. A friend and I went for lunch after hearing positive reviews, and looking forward to a new place and a great lunch. It was pretty full but not crowded, there we several tables opened. We had heard they had pizza and empanadas lunch specials but they did not. Our server was pleasant but the service was very slow. Friend ordered a medium cheeseburger and I the sausage grinder. She was served in about 15 minutes and me, fifteen minutes later. It was ridiculous, and I watched as other tables we served in the same piecemeal style. Her burger was as well done as you could cook it, so over done it was crumbling. Mine was so hot when served, finally, you knew they either forgot it or something, definitely not cooked with the burger. It was good, greasy however. We got drink refills and our server disappeared! Once we were done and ready to pay it was 20 minutes before we asked another server if she could find ours. Another 10 minutes for her to stand at the counter, talk to a few people and get our checks, then we got to pay! I would go back, everything we saw served looked good but I'll make sure I have nothing to do after! read more

The was a totally unexpected delight. Food was excellent well prepared with generous proportions. We had the la parilla for two which at face value seemed expensive ($70) BUT what we got could easily serve 4-6. 2 steaks 2 pork chops 2 ribs 2 chicken breasts 2 sausages and 2 LARGE sides in addition to the rolls all made to favorable Argentine recipes. Also had a calzone the size of a large pizza and empanadas that were made great. Had custom flavored ice cream made next door at Lucy's which was brought to our table (same owners). I was in Ocala visiting family and read a recent review on the Equestrian Grill. Originally being from Miami and enjoying Argentinian steak with chimichurri sauce, we thought we would give this restaurant a try. The decor is confusing as others have commented but we are there for the food, not decor, correct? On a Wednesday evening at 7:00, there were two other tables filled, two cooks, and one waitress. We were seated promptly and served rolls with butter and chimichurri sauce. Both were good, but closer to average. The chimichurri sauce tasted good but was blended too much for my preference. It was a bit soupy rather than the thicker kind usually served in Nicaraguan or Argentinian restaurants. We both ordered the $25.00 churrasco steak with chimichurri sauce and garlic fries. One of us ordered the vegetables which consisted of broccoli, cauliflower, and carrots. I ordered the black beans and garlic fries. Black beans were flavored nicely and the vegetables were cooked well and were sweet. The fries were crispy and the parsley garlic topping was flavorful and not overwhelming. Steaks had a small amount of chimichurri sauce so we used the extra sauce from the rolls for additional topping. The steaks were cooked exactly as we asked but were disappointing due to their toughness and thin size. For the price, I expected a higher end steak that was more tender. The size was considerable and there was plenty but again, too tough for me to order again. The couple next to us ordered the Stromboli which was gigantic and even they took some home. It looked good and had plenty of cheese and meat inside. The menu is confusing since it has a mix of various foods such as steaks, chicken, pizzas, burgers etc. I would not return except to maybe try a pizza but with many Italian restaurants in Ocala, maybe not. read more

Four of us went for dinner, a first visit for my husband & myself. I ordered the pork chops Marsala, the pork chops were quite tasty due to a seAsoning on them & cooked well but the sauce served was definitely not a Marsala & had no flavor whatsoever. Thus, the large serving of fettuccine which was served with it was tasteless. My husband had shrimp scampi which was also served on fettuccine. There were 8 nice sized shrimp and again huge serving of fettuccine and he was quite pleased over all. Service was so so, had to seek waitress out for refills on drinks and otherwise we only saw her to get out check. I am not certain I would care to go back. The booth we sat in had plywood back which people behind us kept rocking into so it was uncomfortable & overall atmosphere was not pleasant with folks coming up for carry out pizzas right next to us. read more

My hubby and I dined here on Valentine's Day and it did NOT disappoint. Our expectations were exceeded beginning with our friendly and very informative server Martha and culminating in an excellently prepared churrasco (skirt steak) at the perfect temperature. The red beans ordered by myself and my husband were also deliciously seasoned, as was the churrasco. I enjoyed the chimichurri which comes with the steaks and loved the level of garlic used (the more, the better). My husband fell in love with the mashed potatoes (from scratch also). We'll be back for MORE food and although it may be considered higher priced than other steak houses, I did noticed they had a phenomenally priced lunch menu at under $10 for those who prefer lunch, from scratch and delicious. Nowadays I see that you'd pay MORE for unexceptional fast foods that that lunch price, so eat here instead, if my recommendation. Staff is very friendly. The coffee was delicious pastries are tasty. I had the country fried steak the hubs had the country fried chicken both meats were prepared well. What a delicious place to eat in Ocala! We were visiting for a week and came in for dinner. We had the empanadas, maduras, and Caribbean Chicken. The chicken was moist & delicious the rice and beans were perfect. We returned the next morning for breakfast and had the spinach & onions with eggs. The eggs, hash browns, and delicious breakfast sausage. We loved both meals so very much that we returned for both breakfast and dinner again during our week long stay in Ocala.
