After a much needed haircut from my barber, Ramon, (highly recommend Trinity Barber Shop), my wife and I headed out to Mi Tierra for a late lunch. Ever since we returned from a trip to Peru and Ecuador to explore Machu Picchu and The Galapagos, we take every opportunity to sample Peruvian cuisine. When I saw Mi Tierra in one of those Facebook ads (I guess they work), we made plans to try it out. Located off highway 484 by the busy intersection with I-75, traffic always seems to be crazy here with never ending construction. When we entered, we were seated in a booth and didn't realize they offered lunch specials (until 3 PM M-F) until we opened the menus. My wife and I ordered off the lunch special menu. She had the Arroz Chaufa ($11.99) and I ordered the Lomo Saltado ($13.99). We were also served chips and salsa while waiting for our meals. We both just had water. The tortillas chips were served warm. They were airy and crispy. The salsa was good but wished there was more of it...a bit chintzy on the salsa. My wife's arroz chaufa was quite good with savory soy sauce flavor and slight smokiness to it. My Lomo saltado was decent. The cut of meat was not the best and it lacked that distinctive smoky flavor we've gotten used to from meals we ate while in Peru. I've had better...but for $13.99, it's pretty good. Good flavors and good value. Service was OK with our lone server doing multiple tasks from bartending, taking orders, and cleaning tables...and watching the World Cup. Lunch for 2 came out to just over $33 with tip. read more

Gotta start my review with the Arroz Chaufa a Peruvian take on traditional Chinese Rice, it was delicious and worth going back for, it was a big hit! The Jalea was ordered as an appetizer, we were a party of three, lightly breaded almost Tempura like it was not greasy at all and it was delicious, good choice as an appetizer for two or more. The Carnitas Quesadilla were really loaded with carnitas and cheese, they were really good. Clasico Enchiladas was not a hit, it could have had more cheese and a lot more flavor, it was kind of bland. Hope this review helps as we went there based on previous Yelp reviews. This was a cute little restaurant! The food was great and the staff was friendly. It was definitely worth the stop on our long road trip, and it's conveniently located right off the interstate. Unfortunately, had an attempt to try a Mexican Peruvian fusion, I was greeted at the front door by a very rude employee. I walk in about five minutes ago, basically 9 PM for dinner and the lady stares at my entire family for a good minute before calling someone else over. it immediately felt very uncomfortable. It took another employee to communicate that they were closed one hour earlier. We asked why and they gave no response. It seems they didn't even know themselves why they were closing an hour early. The bad thing is is that they have just reopened for business and this is how we are greeted. Also like why are all the lights out on the sign like come on? Get it together. read more

We were just passing through and stopped here to get a quick order to go. The tacos were great and the quesadilla was amazing. The service was fast and super friendly. Everything was clean and fresh and new. I would definitely stop here again. I wish we lived closer. Was okay but bit of a disappointment from my previous experience several years ago. While I liked the salsas, I found the food to be somewhat bland. Even the Big Margarita didn't do anything for me. I'm not so sure that's even real tequila in there. When I asked, the waiter said it was "special", whatever that means. Sopa De Substancia was bland. Papa A La Huancaina was bland. And the A/C was down. Even with fans roaring, was still hot up in there and I should have left. Hot salsa was nice, Rocoto I think they call it, as was the Criolla, basically a red onion pico, but they both were extra money and probably shouldn't be. read more

This is the worst restaurant I have ever been to in Florida by far. I should've left as soon as I tasted reheated chips. The rice and beans served were reheated in microwave, and we know because the plate was so hot my husband burned his hand and about 10 minutes later they brought out the cold tacos. We barely ate any of the food and sent everything back and then they sent someone out to explain how they process cooking the food! Who cares at that point! Oh my God... The shrimp cocktail- and I usually can't stand spicy- YES. Delicious, the saltines took it to the next level. We took some home and I will commit myself to learning how to mimic this. Nice little place we encountered on our drive home from South Florida. They have great salsa! The steak tacos were authentic on corn tortillas with the onions and cilantro along with a sprinkle of white cheese. Friendly service and very efficient along with good prices. We are scratching our heads at the 1-star and other reviews. The sign of a great Mexican restaurant? Instead of drowning items in cheese and sauce, both are sparing because flavor dominates. All the food here is delicious, starting up front with the salsa, rich with cilantro and diced onion. And where else can you get a fine chicha morada--the famous Peruvian purple corn drink saturated with clove and cinnamon--with your enchiladas. Or a sopa de sustancia with your fajitas? We stopped here on the back end of a long drive from Tennessee and this place was amazing. I had the carnitas and they literally gave me everything that I love on carnitas tacos on a plate and it was all cooked perfectly (including the meat, it was better than my mother's). I've been to this restaurant 4 times (spaced over several years), 3 times to their location on 484 and once to the one in 200. Unfortunately, if you are looking for authentic Peruvian food, this is not the place. Being Peruvian and living in Ocala, I was so excited to finally have a Peruvian Restaurant in town. I have high standards for my country's cuisine and feel very strongly about what is being presented as "excelente authentic Peruvian food " to other people. Service is OK, I can't give my opinion about their Mexican part of the menu since I have not try it. read more

Delicious food! We were staying nearby and decided to try this place on a Monday night. They were busy but we were seated within 20 minutes and menus were brought and orders taken quickly. The server was attentive and all three of us enjoyed our food. We had taco salads and quesadillas. They serve Mexican Cola which made me very happy. Bring on the real sugar! Walked in and it was empty. Guessing it might be a new place. Very clean. Waitress was average at best. Didn't suggest anything. I ordered a margarita and she quickly walked away. Came to me on the rocks without salt and was absolutely the WORST margarita I have ever had. Tasted like dollar store margarita extra sugar mix chemical concoction and cheap tequila. Gross. I tried to get her attention but have 1 table was too much for her so she must have his in the back of the restaurant. To the owner: tell your servers that the $ (tips) are in the front of the store not in the back. Also, she was so NOT enthused in being at work. Food: food was nothing different the. You get anywhere else. However, it was hot and it was good. I noticed that the "chip girl" was cleaning when she didn't have a table and had a personality. She should be the server. Somebody invested a lot to open this store, hopefully they will invest in a better serving staff. Clean restaurant. Nice inside for a small place. Bar area wasn't very inviting. read more

This place has a nice selection, good food and great customer service. The menu has a pretty good selection, but they only offer one vegetarian dish. I'm sure you could piece together a few items to make your own, but it's always good when restaurants have a small section with vegetarian items. They did have a pretty good seafood selection, though. I got the vegetarian meal, which came with a bean taco, cheese burrito and rice. The taco was good and flavorful and the burrito was really cheesy....almost too cheesy for me. The rice was just okay. I also got a cheese enchilada that was really good. Very cheesy with a good enchilada sauce on top. I'd definitely come back and try some other dishes. read more
