Fast service! We popped in on an event day apoarently- santa con was going on- so we ordered to go and found a spot at the bar for margaritas. They brought out chips and salsa, complimentary, and the margs were delicious. Very soon thereafter the food arrived- took it to go but everything needed was there including extra salsa :-) Love that they offer a vegeyarian selection and the vegetarian chalupas were quite large and filling. Giant beers, that's the one thing I'll remember from this. Pretty sure they were close to a quart of beer. I'm not complaining, but prepare yourself haha Staff was really personable although it was a very busy night. For $19.99 I ordered the cheese stuffed shrimp wrapped with bacon. It came with Mexican rice and choice of black beans or refried beans . Sounds good right? I get my order and it's these little tiny shrimp wrapped in bacon, overcooked, hard and definitely not stuffed with cheese because they're so little there's no room for the cheese . I told the waiter no cheese they were overcooked and apparently he didn't care . The rice and beans were good. I also ordered a small guacamole and it had that taste/color where the avocados turned brown . it was $4.50. I ordered iced tea and it was delicious but my waiter disappeared and there was no refills... In fact after dropping off the check he never came back. Disappointed. Came in, on an afternoon, to celebrate a birthday and the service was very lackluster. When I finally received my chalupa they were actually tostadas. According to the dictionary, a chalupa is a fried corn tortilla shaped like a boat filled with a savory mixture (as of meat, vegetables, or cheese). When my order came, I got a street taco for $3.25. Then I ordered a skinny margarita, he didn't ask the size, so I figured he'd give me just a regular size. I got a large margarita for $13. We asked for bean dip once again he didn't ask what size and he gave us a large. Maybe it's our mistake that we didn't specify the size but as a waiter, I think you should ask what size you'd like as a customer may forget to say. It was just frustrating. I ordered the lunch # 1 which included a taco, enchilada and chalupa. While we waited for our meal we enjoyed the chips and a salsa The lunch serving size was huge. When we were seated, I noticed a large number (8-9) servers and others, crowded at the bar to watch a horse race on television. They ignored us and others while they watched the competition. What? Who runs this place? A server with almost zero personality came over for our drink order and later, took our order for food. I must say, despite the TV distracting the employees, our food came fast and was very good. My Wife's chicken tacos were good, my beef tacos...same. The chips and salsa were tasty too. Sauce was too sweet and jelled like. The fajitas were good however the portion was VERY SMALL My husband always orders fajitas and left hungry. What the heck is going on with these places???? The staff were incredibly efficient, chips were refilled sooooo quickly we didn't even have time to tell them we were all set, and they even had a few options that were labeled vegan! I got the vegan enchiladas and they were decent, but I think they were catering to their clientele a little too much. Had excellent service on my first visit on my third day living in The Villages. I moved here from central Mexico and was prepared for a Tex Mex experience but it was so much better. The birria tacos were fantastic and the consomme served with it for dipping was so flavorful. I have family that is moving here this month and I know they will appreciate the vegetarian options that are on the menu. The daily drink specials (if I'm remembering correctly) are priced very nicely. Is it exactly the same as what I was eating in Guanajuato state? No, but it's pretty darn tasty. Chips are horrible rocks but the salsa is good. It's in a good location on the square so you can sit outside and hear the music. Menu has a nice little vegetarian section and the veggie fajitas were quite good. The other two Mexican places in Wildwood are better but this place has the square location. read more

The Villages does not know how to do Mexican. This was a sorry imitation and I was not happy with my meal. I ordered the Choriqueso which is a cheese with chorizo and peppers. The Mexican restaurant I go to in Detroit makes an awesome version, this was just sad and soupy. There were 6 of us, we all ordered drinks of some type. When the bill came one couple was shocked to discover they'd accidentally ordered a $40 margarita because it had upscale tequila in it. Ouch. We had dinner here last night, we had the chicken nachos and it was good. We asked for a to-go container and some salsa, the server told me that salsa was $2.25, I said okay. After thinking about it, I have never paid for take home salsa at a Mexican restaurant... ever! Especially when they offer free chips and salsa to their customers. Wowza! Service was incredible! The server greeted us within 5 minutes. He served us drinks and came back to take our order within 5 minutes. Oh yes...so delicious. Cute, fun place right in the middle of the town center. We sat outside on their nice patio. The inside was high energy and booths looked tempting. Sitting outside and people watching was better. A basket of nachos and salsa quickly placed on our table as we scanned the menu. Margaritas and that addicting basket of nachos is all I needed but of course I didn't stop there. Hubby and I split the shrimp fajitas. Great choice and just the right amount for two to share. Shrimp was a good size and cooked perfectly. The entire dish was fresh and came with 4 warm tortillas. We gobbled up every morsel bc it was all very scrumptious. Service was friendly and right on.
