I've been there twice, both times with big groups and we had a single server for a group of 10+ each time, so they might've been a little understaffed unless that is just what the expectation is for servers there. I dined in a couple days ago and we had a wonderful waitress, wonderful food, and the ambiance was exactly what we were looking for. This review would easily be 5 stars if not for my experience was the bartender. I had some friends sitting at the bar (I was sat at a table) who recommended getting a skinny margarita saying it was one of the best they had ever had. So, that is what I ordered. When my drink came it tasted like pure sour mix had just been poured into the glass. I was confused and went to the bar to see if this is the drink they were praising just to see that our drinks were completely different in color, taste, everything. So, I politely explained my situation to who I thought was the bartender (but was actually the hostess just standing behind the bar) and she relayed the information to the actual bartender. I was immediately met with attitude the second the bartender looked at me. She rolled her eyes and scoffed before taking my drink and beginning to make a new one. I ignored it and just went back to speaking to my friends at the bar. A couple minutes go by and nothing had been said so I began looking around to find that my remade drink was put down on the bar about three seats from where I actually was, and nothing had been said to me. I went and grabbed it and told my friends about the attitude I had been given and they said they have experienced the same thing from this same bartender across multiple visits to the establishment. I then tasted my drink and it was even worse than my original drink, but I wasn't going to send it back again with how I had been treated the first time. Around 10 minutes later the bartender was walking behind me when she said "Is this one better for you?" in a demeaning tone and without even looking my direction, as a matter of fact she kept walking without even getting a response from me. The whole situation was very off and completely ruined my experience at this restaurant, as I probably won't be back again if this girl is behind the bar. I would also like to add that I was reluctant to write this review being in the service industry myself. We all have our off nights but that doesn't excuse the treatment I received and (according to my friends) it being a repeat occurrence. read more

They were pretty good except for having to ask for small plates for our appetizers several times. Now to the appetizers we had fried green tomatoes and the lobster guacamole. Both were super yummy! I don't understand these reviews. Edison is without question one of the best restaurants in Tallahassee. I used to be in town for work several days a month and would come to Edison a minimum of 2, sometimes 3 times per month for dinner. Their menu changes, the service is always excellent and friendly and the food has consistently been great. I have never once had a negative experience in the multiple times I have eaten here. I have introduced co workers to the restaurant and hosted a client dinner with around 12 people in attendance. I am back in town as I evacuated the Tampa area due to the hurricane and brought my girlfriend here for dinner. She is a tough critic and could not stop raving about the quality of the food and the atmosphere. read more

We had a reservation for graduation night, but they didn't seat us until half an hour after our scheduled time. We received excellent customer service; one of the managers, Kate, reached out after our previous negative review and I really appreciated that and said we would return next time we were in town. We went for brunch on Sunday and it was a great experience! We were greeted by Dave the manager, who was super friendly. We had amazing service from Harry. My husband had the breakfast burrito, my daughter a Chicken Caesar wrap and I had the breakfast BLT, which my daughter described as "fire!" (That means "amazing!"). Since our initial visit, my daughter has gone back to The Edison several times and it has become one of her favorite restaurants in Tallahassee. Once seated, 10 minutes later a waiter came by to take our drink order. Another 15 minutes later, our beers arrived. Yes, 15-minutes to put a tap beer in a cup at an empty bar. We asked the waiter if we ordered more beers, would it take as long? His response: "I don't control the bartender. Maybe." That set the tone for the rest of our "meal". I use that term generously. The $25.00 charcuterie board had maybe $3.00 worth of cheese and meat on it and was barely enough to feed one person. The meat was visibly hard and rubbery when eating. This is graduation weekend at FSU, and the Edison one of the few restaurants open on a Sunday. Still, is it so difficult to make a guest feel like they are welcome? We never once had a single server pay any attention to us unless we flagged them down. And then most of them acted resentful. When it took over 45 minutes to get our food, they shrugged. And what they don't tell you is there is some sort of hot spice or wasabi mixed under it and there needs to be something to balance it out. The staff is wonderful! Strange greeting when you walk-in, not offering to seat you but more like what do you want? Like you were interrupting. It was the same leaving. Not rude but no farewell, no thanks for coming, no have a good evening. Nothing. I'd actually give a 3.5 We sat outside on the porch and the view was really nice. It had been raining off and on so it was slightly overcast but the view was special. I can only imagine it at sunset. Waitress was attentive but not ever present. Meatloaf is a favorite but there were too many ingredients mixed in it and took away from the taste. Mashed potatoes were ..... mashed potatoes. The ambience was great. Food was not great, not bad but not great. I'd go back but it'd be for the atmosphere. Loads of potential but potential is unfilled expectations. Make sure someone - anyone attends to drinks for the table - even water - within 2 minutes of sitting down - we waited 15 minutes. Server was busy w other tables. That sets a bad tone out of the gate. Terrible mistake. Not servers fault. 2. Make sure server asks guests when they want to order not drop drinks off and wait for them to ask to get food after waiting. Another core service mistake. 3. When a dish is missing an advertised ingredient from the menu (on two peoples order for the same dish) make it right. Offer to bring it in the side is nice and appreciated. But let the kitchen know and offer an apology and make sure the guest knows they had an issue and will fix it. It's just polite. 4. Don't have to ask 3 times to bring more coffee. Offer. 5. Reduce the sodium in the food by 50%. The chicken on the southern breakfast was good. The eggs struck me as strange. Like as if scrambled egged were made from a batch egg process not individual scrambled eggs. Make sure tables are not sticky from booze. And make sure servers are not in their own. This happens at restaurants of course, but what makes the difference in still having a great experience is the server and how it's addressed. Ashton was our server and she was phenomenal. We enjoyed a nice walk around Cascades Park and the surrounding neighborhood and landed at the Edison. It was busy and we were told they did not staff for the crowd that showed up, but our service was fantastic and food on point, nevertheless! TERRIBLE FOOD. I feel like I got scammed from this place. I ordered the eggs Benedict which advertised poached eggs, thick ham on sourdough bread. What I got should have been 1$ compared to the SIXTEEN dollars I paid. It was basically an egg on wonder bread with a thin slice of deli ham. Oh and the "fresh" fruit they advertise WAS STILL FROZEN WHEN THEY SERVED IT TO US. The only thing you're paying for here is the view of the park... please save your money and go literally anywhere else. Waffle House has better food than this. We came here for brunch & bought bottomless mimosas on top of ordering from the brunch menu. Our server, Ashton, was pleasant until it got to the point where it was obvious she didn't want to serve us anymore. We all paid $24 for bottomless mimosas & weren't told about the $5 upcharge for the juice flavors offered, so it was $29 instead. Also, we were told we could stay till 2pm for the bottomless mimosas, but were given our checks without asking so we closed out & were then told we can't use the bottomless mimosas anymore. Then, we were told we could get 2 after closing out, but we didn't receive those 2 after asking. There was no communication & charges thrown on the bill we had no idea about. Everything was being blamed on their "manager," but it was ridiculous that we had a $300+ tab with a $70 tip & were treated this way. The food was average & like I said it was pleasant until it was very obvious we weren't wanted here anymore. Definitely a place I wouldn't come back to, service is important to me, especially on such a large bill, and the service here was horrible. If taking advantage of their customers for the extra money or whatever matters that much to them, then that says a lot about the restaurant and management. The bottomless mimosa deal wasn't worth it & I wouldn't make a trip here for that reason, go somewhere else. Don't offer something like that if you can't keep your word. read more

Like many others in these reviews I think this place is fairly mediocre. I love the building and location, but I've never been impressed by the food or drinks. I think it would be more reasonable if the prices were to come down a tad or up the food options. I like going here really because it's one of the cuter "insta worthy" places in Tallahassee. Recently my friend had her contract broken with the event people at the Edison in the RUDEST manner. This isn't just any event, this is my friends WEDDING/reception that's only a month out. She requested event spaces that were within her contract but the Edison refused to accommodate. It was pretty clear that they only didn't want to accommodate her request because they had already made other plans (aka money motivated). AGAIN, ITS ONLY A MONTH OUT.
