I can't believe I've never written a review for this place! The Eatery has been a favorite spot of mine since I have moved here for the last two years. The sandwiches here taste great and don't make you feel heavy after eating them. There is a decent variety of meat choices, non-meat choices, and fresh breads. The amazing ice coffee keeps me coming back and has low-key made me addicted to it. To comment on the non-food aspects of The Eatery, the staff is amazingly friendly and the decor is hip and modern, but in in a cute aesthetically way rather than a post-modern industrial tone you get with some hipster places. My only complaint is it could have more seating Tips: Parking is supposedly only street and you technically can't use the parking lot nearby (in front of Riva's). Supposedly. Technically. read more

Awesome!! I had the Bronut which is grilled chicken, bacon, & cheese between a sliced glazed doughnut and wow it was pretty amazing!! I also had a nitrous infused Oatmilk cold brew coffee. The Eatery is THE SPOT for fresh and flavorful breakfast and lunch. Menu is fun - something for everyone. Prices are super reasonable. Food is all amazing. FOOD: You know a good lunch spot when the specials change by the seasons. That's fresh food. Their flavor combos are just perfect. Whether you want something healthier like the Savannah Chicken or go all out with the Matador and a Nutella panini, it's gonna taste good. ATMOSPHERE: I've been eating here since before the pandemic and it's a cute spot for a cute lunch with mom or a solo spot during work. Takeout is efficient and quick. They also have catering which I can o ly imagine would impress whoever you're entertaining. I've been a longtime patron of The Eatery and it's a favorite lunch spot for sandwiches, salads, and soups. They also have a great breakfast sandwich selection (and get the home fries!). The owners and staff are friendly and prompt with orders and I really enjoy using the app. I have just three wishes 1. That soups of the day could be viewed from the app 2. That they were open just sliiiiightly later to make a to-go dinner order possible. 3. Bring back "The GQ" to the specials menu! I also appreciate their commitment to sustainable packaging- it's nice to order take out and not feel like a styrofoam monster (they use cardboard, brown paper, and compostable utensils). Oh sure, a place like this comes along after I move out of town! Met Nicole for breakfast and chose this place since they cater to the gluten free lifestyle she has to live. Breakfast sandwiches are excellent-- went with the buffalo egg and ate every bite. Egg was perfectly cooked and spiciness was on point, not overwhelming. Kinda lose the bacon in it, a bit more would help it to stand out. Tried a can of La Colombe cold brew coffee-- just what I needed after a double (don't shake it!). First impressions are very important and the woman at the counter was great!! We were first timers and she explained the menu and was very nice. We got 2 #6 the Vito hot on ciabatta bread, as well as a seafood chowder and a fresh donut! Everything was delicious! Can't wait to come back and try more if their special sandwiches. The sandwiches come with a pickle. Prices are very reasonable- if u get a special sandwich they ate like $8-9. The classic ones are $6. They also offer a 1/2 sandwich with 1/2 soup or salad option which I love! Overall def will be back to try more. My picky boyfriend even plans on coming back on his own on his days off :) read more

Really solid place for healthy take out. I had a panini with kale sweet potato goat cheese and onion. It was one of the days specials and it was fantastic. Parking is on street. I drove past the place and ended up parking in the next lot I saw which had a taco place (which also looked good) but walk back and try this place first. read more

This little sandwich shop is amazing! We were on a long distance trip and passing through the area. We spotted this place on yelp and it was fantastic. I had the Douglas Fir sandwich which is an elevated version of the after Tgiving sandwich with turkey, bacon, cranberry mayo, and spinach. My wife and son had breakfast sandwiches that were very tasty. My daughter had grilled chicken fingers off the kids menu which were yummy and not fried. The food was fantastic. I enjoyed my sandwich. It was very flavorful. I really liked the basil lemon pasta salad. The flavor on that was bright light and yummy. YUM!! Was in the area and was craving a good sandwich. Had another place in mind but it was closed. So I said "what the heck! I'll keep driving." And what a lucky chain of events because I found this little place on the corner! The interior is cozy and small but there are a couple tables to sit at. I ordered the #6 sandwich on ciabatta. It was prosciutto and mozzarella with a delicious basil pesto. The bread was absolutely delectable and fresh. The combo of mozzarella with the salty prosciutto was perfect and the basil pesto was the perfect compliment. It was HUGE and hearty and did I mention DELICIOUS?!? I was so happy I stopped here! It was under $7 for a huge sandwich and a bag of chips. What a pleasant surprise! I am glad the other place was closed because now I know where to get an awesome sandwich at an awesome price. OMG, what a wonderful place for lunch, or anytime. This little spot is such a great place for a quality meal. They have tons of vegetarian options and the food is incredibly fresh. The choices on the menu are always new and interesting and seasonal. Wicked sandwiches, veggie bowls, and they have really great cookies too. Not everything is vegetables though, I had a roast beef sandwich last time I was there and it rocked! I also love that they have Virgil's soda, and the little sides that come with your sandwich are great. I had a buffalo chicken pasta salad that was killer. The prices are a bit high compared to an average deli, but this not your average deli. If you are from the area and haven't gone, you're crazy. The eatery is worth a drive. On whim, we Yelp'ed our way here while out and about. Happy we did . cute, fun if not eclectic in a good way, VERY friendly staff and good choices for all. My wife had the tuna fish, though a tad salty ( but she is usually salt free) she was very pleased - great pickle! I had the brisket, with caramelized onions grilled panini style - delicious! Again - great pickle! I noticed out meal and others was served vey fast and everyone who was working was happy, pleasant and happy to talk about their product - thats very cool. The Eatery is one of my favorite places for lunch/early dinner in Wallingford. Parking is a little challenging sometimes as I don't particularly like stepping out of my car onto Route 5, but it's worth the risk. I've had a number of their paninis and wraps and am always left happy with my choice. Everything is made fresh and, if you're there early enough, there have sometimes been dessert choices. I'm not super pleased that their bread and donuts are brought in from New York (this may have changed since my last visit) since there are so many good local places (Chabaso Bread in New Haven, Neil's Donuts right down the street, etc.) and I'd like to see them support more local businesses. They definitely have a presence in the community and their social media is always kept up-to-date, and that really means a lot. They have a beautiful little storefront that will hopefully encourage some of the other shop owners to put in some more effort. I do wish they had later hours, since I don't usually return to Wallingford until 5 or 6pm most days, but I try to run in whenever I can catch them open. read more

You'd be hard-pressed to find a better option for a quick sandwich just about anywhere...I have no reservations about going to The Eatery when I'm in the area instead of trying something new. I love a good sandwich. The Douglas is my favorite so far... Parking isn't great, but there's a good amount available on Prince Street, which is a one-way road that runs along the cemetery across the street. Needed a quick place to grab lunch from this afternoon and found The Eatery on Yelp. I have never been somewhere with such quick service and such high quality food. The price is a little higher than one may expect for the serving sizes, but the quality of the food makes it worth it for sure! I do wish the sides were a little larger (choice of chips, apple, or pasta salad with each sandwich) since the lemon basil pasta salad I had was SO delicious. They also have breakfast specials available all day, which I look forward to trying next time I stop by in the AM. Also have a large variety of chips and drinks available too. Super cool decor in a very small storefront with mostly street parking. Delicious sandwich #10 (I think) the savannah with grilled chicken, goat cheese, baby spinach, and mandarin oranges on toasty ciabatta bread. This place is so fresh and so yummy AND AFFORDABLE. My quinoa bowl was $8 where other places would charge $8-$12. I love finding places that make good quinoa bowls. I got the Mesa Bowl. I devoured this bowl! Most places would give you really little portion of avocados, but they gave a good amount. The quinoa is at the bottom with roasted corn and pico de gallo above that and they top it with the eggs. You can get your eggs however you'd like and they drizzle with sriracha (one of my fav sauces). They don't put too much so it's not so spicy. My fave was the roasted corn. IT'S SO GOOD!! There's no meat in this dish so the corn is a nice touch so I can steal get my savory flavors. The place is really cute, you can also dine in. They have breakfast sandwiches, regular sandwiches, soups, and salads. If you live around the area, definitely check it out! read more

Stopped in the this local eatery on our way through New England and couldn't be happier. The staff was full of life and laughter which matched the ambiance of trendy open beams paired with bright pastels and whimsical miniature hot air balloons. But nothing was quite as amazing as the food. My wife was grateful for the assorted selection of gluten free breads and wraps but I dove into the NYC delivered donut wrapped around fresh cooked sausage, eggs, and Vermont sharp cheddar. Paired with fresh hot coffee I felt this meal set my day off perfectly. This is a very typical little lunch/sandwich cafe kind of place. We parked in the back (not sure if you're supposed to but our car was fine?) They have a decent menu with sandwiches, wraps, and soups and you can mix + match or make your own sandwich. The woman working the counter was exceptionally friendly - definitely the person you want representing your cafe! She suggested a few favorites to us. I got the Cyprus Garden sandwich which was grilled eggplant, red peppers, chick pea smash, zucchini and goat cheese. You can pick your own bread, so I got the ciabatta. I thought my sandwich was great - grilled well, good flavors mixed together. I tend to love eggplant/veggie sandwiches like that. Not disappointed at all. Drinks were a little limited to water, soda, and some iced teas. I got a flavored water which was pretty good. Inside is relatively small, about 7 tables. We sat at the only 'large' table that could fit probably 6 people at most. I would say this is more of a grab-a-sandwich-and-go place but I really enjoyed my sandwich, nonetheless. I saw the Bronut on instagram, I had to come in and try it for myself! The Bronut consists of grilled chicken, bacon, and cheese melted between a sliced glazed donut. It was REALLY good. I'm a sucker for sweet and savory and this hit the spot! The only reason I'm knocking a star off is because I was still hungry upon leaving. My boyfriend got the Matador without cheese (because he's lactose intolerant) and it was suggested that instead he get avocado instead, which he was very pleased about because he loves avocado. He very much enjoyed his sandwich!
