My friends and I stopped by here after hearing such wonderful and fun things about this place! Turns out it was drag show night which was SO GOOD. We all had a blast and it was definitely a highlight of our trip being here!

6/2/19 The Dunes Resort is a LGBT Resort in Saugatuck, Michigan. I love the location and I love Saugatuck. It's a very LGBT friendly town. Lots of rainbow flags all around, which makes you feel comfortable if you don't have many towns like that. The Dunes Resort is a very nice place. Large pool and a big entertainment area where they put on shows and events. I went to the Dunes for a Womxn Weekend. Go Girl Saugatuck. I love this event. I love that the Dunes holds this event. However, outside of this event, the Dunes is about 80% men and 20% women and on Go Girl Weekend it's about 70% women and 30% men. It's nice for the change but I wish it was more 50/50 throughout the year but it's not. Maybe it's because most of their events throughout the year attract men. I am not sure but I would lean more towards that idea. Atmosphere: Clean, Love the rooms and pool area. The big event area is nice and colorful. I feel very safe there. Cost: It is kind of pricey, but it includes a lot of things in the cost plus it is in Saugatuck, so you are kind of paying for the town, being close to the beach, and in a nice area. The resort has nice rooms and lots to offer. Overall: I will give this place 4 stars. I wish it offered more events that target women but overall, it's nice and I will be going back to Go Girl.

Firstly, The only reason it's a four not a five yet is because I have not experienced their resort hotel rooms. I absolutely love that there's lots of free parking on property. There are lots of trees along the street to screen gawkers. We are usually here during the holidays which means tea dance parties. You enter by the main door and the dance music immediately takes you. The inside dance floor is immediately to the left when you enter. when you walk through the main bar, you can walk out into their adjoining pool area and an enormous two level open-air dance. This is where the Tea Dance magic happens, especially when there's a live DJ. There is a pool area (no glassware allowed in the area) and there is also a store for your souvenir and sexy look needs. I attached two photos DURING THE TEA DANCE, i cannot attest to what it's like on a non tea dance day

Rob was amazing. He reached out to me to confirm my arrival time and checked in on me from time to time via text. The motel is quaint and peaceful. Located only a few minutes from downtown Douglas and Sagatauck, a perfect and relaxing, clean, pleasant place to stay. A few things to keep in mind, it is on eastern time zone, that's important if you're driving from the central time zone! Rob was gracious when I was running late to check in. A great place to relax and unwind after a busy day of play, shopping, or in my case working. Lounge by the amazing pool or gather with friends and family at the fire pit, or take a nap in the hammocks! If you're a golfer, it's only a few minutes from The Ravines, an Arnold Palmer designed golf course. I am looking forward to visiting again!

The worst part was the management- outwardly rude, arrogant, and abrasive towards guests. Very strange behavior from them, would not recommend. Hopefully new management will take over, bc with some good upkeep, and proper maintenance of the rooms, as well as just professional behavior from management they would do quite well. Would definitely not recommend- especially if you are traveling with children.

I was a little apprehensive at first after hearing that it is both a salon and hotel, and reading some of the negative reviews about the condition of the rooms. I can only speak to our stay and our room which were both very nice. The room is contemporary, huge, and with well appointed furniture and fixtures. The place looks to have been updated sometime in the recent past, and was impeccably cleaned. I cannot think of a more central location to stay either. Walk out the suite's door and you are a minute away from shopping and dining options. The only downside, and it may be a big deal for late risers, is that suite 7 has a skylight located directly over the bed and does not have a means for closing it. I threw a T-shirt over my eyes and was fine, and my wife was up before it could even bother her. If this is a big issue than you may want to shop their other suites, which also look nice from the online pictures. We will stay at this hotel again in our next visit to Saugatuck.

This place was worth it! We came on a whim with less than a day of planning over a holiday weekend…read more It was a little pricey, yet still way cheaper than other places nearby. The two guys who seem to run this place appear to really care about their operation and customers. All of our interactions with the front desk people were great. The two guys up front were super nice and always pleasant to deal with. They even hooked it up with a free toothbrush because I forgot mine. Couldn't ask for better customer service here. The place looked like it has been renovated and really upgraded. You may not think it from looking at this place on a map, but this place has some nice amenities: several BBQs available for use, pool open late (with a great ambiance), and free continental breakfast. Also, the rooms are cozy and very well kept. They even doubled down on some stylish furniture and interior design. Bravo fellas. Finally, last but not least, the shower. The shower was a perfectly executed work of craftsmanship. It was honestly the first stone/tile shower design I had used that felt like whoever built it knew what they were doing. The pressure and level of water flow was almost therapeutic. I didn't want to exit the shower. Overall these folks are running a tight ship. Keep up the good work! We hope to come back soon!

We booked a last minute weekend getaway to Saugatuck for our Anniversary.. literally the Monday…read morebefore we were going to leave on Friday. There wasn't many options close to downtown that were available or reasonable. I found Beachway for $150 a night compared to $300+ for a room just across the water. After reading lots of reviews, I booked and crossed my fingers. We arrived and were greeted by Cathy at the front desk. So sweet and informative! Walked me through everything we needed to know - front desk hours (she was staying the night so would be available for emergencies and ring the bell if needed! So sweet), breakfast area with coffee, donuts, and fresh fruit, and all the amenities they had - games, movies, snacks, etc. They walked me to the room to make sure I knew where it was and to show me around. I had left a note in our reservation about it being our Anniversary and the staff left us a bottle of Prosecco and some nuts - SO sweet and totally unexpected. The room was small - as was described - but very clean and well maintained. The bed, two nightstands, small dresser, TV, and shelf with hangers was in one area of the room and the other half had two chairs, small table, & the sink area outside of the actual bathroom. The sink had a hand towel, makeup towel (black so not to stain easily from makeup - great idea), blow dryer, 2 bars of soap, shampoo, conditioner, and 2 makeup wipes. (no lotion). The bathroom has a door and was recently remodeled - toilet and small shower with a curtain. The renovation was VERY well done, but the shower is pretty small (but tall). We did not use the pool but it appeared to be heated - we hardly saw anyone using it but it appear clean and well maintained. There are lots of decks with ample seating to hang out and watch the activities across the channel. The location is great! short 8-10 min drive to downtown Saugatuck or Douglas. Chain Ferry is a block away and super convenient - and charming! Oval beach is a short 5 minute drive away (walking distance but very hilly and no sidewalks - it's mostly through the woods) My ONLY complaint about the Beachway is the fact that there is no individual temperature controls in the rooms - it is an older establishment that looks retrofitted into individual rooms so everyone must be on the same run. It got a little stuffy in our room, so we opened the windows at night. It was cool outside but the cool air didn't' seem to come in at all. There also is no fan in the room to move the air. So, I would recommend bringing fans if you can. We were on the floor above the lobby so maybe other areas don't have this issue. I did see comments in other reviews about paper thin walls and hearing everything - while I would agree, we didn't find it to be an issue as there didn't seem to be many guests. Out door didn't close flush so at night you could see light coming through from the hallway - even with that we didn't hear people out and about. Overall, this is a charming place that we definitely said we'd bring our kids back to! For a couple traveling for their anniversary looking for a place to just lay their heads, it worked out extremely well!

I ended up deciding Sunday to add an extra night, and already knew ahead that we'd have to switch rooms the next day. Id just planned on putting our things into my friend's room for a few hours. Nope, I received a text at 10:00 the next morning saying the new dock room was ready for us. Not once in my many hotel stays was the room ready before checking out of the first room. Huge thank you for that! The place is very tidy, very comfortable feeling. Beds are nice, amenities are nice. The staff is nice, and seemed to want to take care of their guests. I didn't park in their parking lot, but found a spot right in front. They give those in their lots a parking pass. When I extended, they remembered to text me to offer a new pass. I was very surprised by how quiet the place was with having "the barge" restaurant on property (also excellent). The common lobby, tables were a fun place for people to congregate when not swimming or outside doing the many activities. They had many games, both adult and children appropriate. Also, a bookshelf for reading books. Now, I did prefer the first room overlooking the pool, and with being on the second floor a great view of the river. The dock room was also excellent in different ways, especially for watching the late night storm. Would and definitely will try to make this an annual trip.
