We absolutely loved the Rosemont Inn. We found it on AirB&B and booked for a night. After being there for just a couple of hours we talked to Terry (who runs the place with his wife) and asked to book a second night. The room had a wonderful fireplace in it, the entire inn is very cozy, and the hot tub was the perfect place to relax after a long day. The breakfast that was served each morning was delicious and filling. There's 2 house cats that love to hang out with you, Fluffy and David. Both are very loving and friendly. It was the perfect weekend getaway and we can't wait to book again for the summer. read more

We found this place on a whim last minute and were not disappointed at all. It is located in a beautiful foresty area, and has direct access to lake Michigan and the Douglas public beach which is a 2 minute walk across the street. The inn is clean and adorable and has all of the amenities with a nice outdoor pool, an indoor hot tub, and a sauna. Bikes are available as well. Right from the start, the innkeepers were so friendly & were very helpful with helping us get situated & providing recommendations. At the time of my stay, they were new owners for about 3 weeks, but were doing a fabulous job at running it. I enjoyed the conversations that I had with them. The breakfast set up was so cute and everything was delicious. both innkeepers were always cleaning and making sure things were tidy, which I liked to see as well. The hospitality is phenomenal- from making sure the hot tub was warm enough, being available within minutes to fix a maintenance concern in the room, and addressing my sister's dairy allergy without us having to ask, by preparing a dairy free egg dish for my sister & communicating everything else at the breakfast that did not have dairy. All of this meant so much to us since they were constantly making sure that we were enjoying our stay and having a good experience. Since the inn is under new ownership, there are a lot of reservations going on. During my stay, the vibe was a vintage cabin feel- very cozy. I am interested to see what updates and reservations are made. I am definitely going to come and stay again. read more

We"ve been to a lot of B&B's and this was top notch. Pat and Marsha (our Inn Keepers) made us feel like family on our short visit to the Inn last weekend. They thought of everything. Homemade pastry and coffee cakes to go with a HUGE plated breakfast every day. They advised us where to eat and what to see in all the towns nearby. and chatted with us when ever we saw them. I have to say, waking up to the sound of Lake MI waves didn't hurt either. This place has everything, Pool, indoor hot tub, sauna, bikes to borrow, a shower room, huge and welcoming kitchen/eating area, dog friendly, amazing landscaping, and coy pond with frogs (inside joke). Most importantly clean well-kept rooms. Can't wait to take friends there next summer read more

This place is delightful! From what I understand, new owners took over in the summer 2021 and they are doing a great job. We've been to the whole Saugatuck/Douglas area multiple times over the years, and decided we wanted to stay close to the water, so picked the Rosemont Inn. The Inn is well located, with direct views of Lake Michigan. The sunsets were a real highlight for us. The owners had great chairs outside for guests to use. Did I mention there is also a gazebo? Bring a bottle of wine and enjoy. As the info says, the Inn is a short drive away from downtown Saugatuck, which has a real plus for us. We wanted access to town, but didn't want to be in the hustle full time. It is great to wake up, and wind down, someplace peaceful. Plus, the breakfasts are so plentiful, I hardly needed lunch (but ate lunch anyhow! Vacation!) During the warm weather, the Inn has a cute outdoor pool and gardens. We went back recently (I told you we enjoyed it) and they had the fireplaces going inside and it was like a picture book. What caused me to write the review was our experience upon going back. Wow! They have been busy. In just a few short months, they have already refreshed major parts of the Inn (it was a little dated), with apparently more "refreshes" to come. They have taken what was already a homerun of a property and really made it into something special. So many cute places to enjoy a bottle of wine, read a good book, or just watch the fire and talk (god forbid any of us do that anymore...) We have another trip already on the books (we are in the Chicagoland area, so this is a short ride for us, to a really special location). Can't wait to see what is new this time around! read more

My family recently stayed at the Rosemont Inn. This recent experience was very disappointing. The proprietor, Kerry, was not very pleasant. He did not interact with guests in a welcoming fashion and actually very rude to us regarding the hot tub policy. His demeanor, throughout our stay, made us feel uncomfortable, in an otherwise lovely, historic inn. Other issues were, quality of breakfast when compared to the price per night, was below our expectations; and sadly, the Inn is no longer pet friendly. read more

Rosemont Inn is sort of a hidden treasure in the Saugatuck area. The room was clean and staff friendly. There's a pool and hot tub just out back with beautiful koi fish pond and garden; it's very peaceful. Breakfast was better than expected with more than enough food to get your say stared. Beachfront access is directly across the street. The whole experience was exactly what I was looking for. If you're looking for a peaceful place just outside of the busy shopping area I highly recommend Rosemont Inn. read more

This place has all the old world charm and hospitality anyone could hope for. The breakfast was so good I broke my fasting routine. The front yard gazebo is the perfect place to make new friends for life. The backyard fountain garden will calm your mind and restore a little humble balance. My only regret is not having a few more days here to truly unwind and take advantage of the spa and sauna for the ultimate in relaxation. This is truly a treasure that's one part time travel, one part old world bath house, and one part a stay over with family. It also doesn't hurt that lake views push through the windows, beckoning you to come walk on the beach and swim into a long evening. This is a good one. read more

This is my second time staying at the Rosemont Inn and I am highly disappointed. To my understanding they recently switched ownership and it was not for the best. When we first arrived a man who when we later called said his name was Kerry, was very rude and ill-mannered. He was very unclear of whether he was the manager or owner but needless to say he was very disrespectful when we were trying to check in. We ended up leaving after being denied service. This was such a sweet little Inn and i'm so disappointed to see the that this is what happened to it. It's safe to say I will not be returning. read more

Was a bit disappointed.... the room and bathroom were very small for the price we paid (almost $300 a night) it is directly across from Lake Michigan BUT the public beach is closed due to erosion and there isn't really anywhere you can walk to enjoy the view - except standing on the side of the road. Most of the views are on private property so you have to drive to the beach which was a big disappointment to us. The breakfasts are huge but I just wasn't a huge fan. My husband did enjoy them. Overall the place needs some updating and maintenance. I think we will stay 'in town' next time.... since we had to drive to the beach anyway. Everyone is super nice but I just don't think the value was there. Would definitely check out other places.... and also note the dates of the previous reviews. read more

Let me preface this my saying I am a girl that LOVES luxury when traveling. I like 5-star (or 4, if I must) all the way, so staying at a B&B is novel to me in so many ways. But we needed a place to stay for my BFF's parent's wedding anniversary, and since they were down the street the Rosemont was the most convenient. The owners, Pat and Peter, and super nice people, and we really enjoyed chatting with them at various points throughout our stay. They also have a pair of really cute, really funny poodles (the big ones!) that are the unofficial welcoming committee. I agree with another reviewer that the rooms are small, but at the end of the day, it's a B&B, and from what I understand the majority of them are going to be. The good news is that they make a king bed fit into the room pretty well, and while it is a tight squeeze it's not so tight that you feel claustrophobic. The rooms have little fireplaces, which is nice on a cool night, and while the beds are comfortable, I would urge them to get a set of down pillows, as I woke up with a crick in my neck because I'm not used to those kinds of pillows. But many hotels do this, so they are no different in that respect. The bathroom was small but worked great, and I loved the vintage look of the fixtures. The breakfast was great - Pat cooks it up, nice and hot, and they have a nice area where you can enjoy your morning coffee and breakfast and read whatever paper you like. The inn is across the street from a public beach on Lake Michigan, and the Rosemont also have a pool and indoor Jacuzzi and sauna, which we didn't take advantage of but had we come prepared and stayed longer we most definitley would have! My main criticism was the price - we went in the off season and with tax I paid almost $300, which is ok for a 5-star in the city, and perhaps for a really high-end B&B, but I didn't feel I got my $300 worth. The bottom line is this - yes, the place could use a major update, but considering that it wasn't built up new from the ground, they have done a tremendous job and they offer so many great amenities (pop corn and snacks for late night? Yes, please!) and are so friendly that it makes it all worthwhile. I would stay there again, and I would recommend others to stay there too! read more

What a terrific place to get away and rejuvenate. Peter and Pat are wonderful Inn keepers. The breakfasts were all homemade and excellent. They were a great way to start the day. Breakfast was ready when we came downstairs...served until 10am. Then we went to the front desk to get a lock for the bikes and then we biked all over. They are perfectly located across the street from the lake and few miles to Douglas and Saugatuck. We literally parked our car when we arrived and never used it again until we left. Although we didn't use them... There is a sauna, hot tub and an outdoor pool. All were very clean and nicely kept. We highly recommend this home away from home. PS bring our own blow dryer and down pillow if you prefer down. read more

I've been meaning to write this review for a while - since 2009! I had just moved to Chicago and my then-boyfriend (now husband) was going to be visiting. Having lived in California we had never experienced fall colors, so during his visit in October of 2009 we decided to go to Saugatuck and stayed at the Rosemont Inn. The Rosemont Inn was incredibly romantic. The property is gorgeous, the surrounding woods are quiet and peaceful. The inn is right across from the lake shore, and people would go out every afternoon to watch the sunset. Easy access to the towns of Douglas and Saugatuck, shopping, art, wine tasting, apple picking. The inn had bikes to get around, but we didn't use them because it was raining off and on. Still, it's the perfect place for a romantic getaway. Cozy rooms, walks on the beach... you get the idea. The owners are friendly, provide useful recommendations, and make delicious food. read more

I was heading out to the back porch and one of her dogs made a run for it. Pat completely threw a fit. Slamming cupboards and yelling at me not to let the other dog out, too! I was completely horrified and embarrassed as there were other guests sitting right there, mouths gapping open as they watched her come completely come unglued. I've witnessed her snapping at her staff, too. She does not seem to care that the guests have to listen to her rampage. Her laugh is completely forced and unnatural when she is trying to appear jovial - which she is not. Her serving dishes are all chipped and I know for a fact she recycles all homemade food that is not eaten up at breakfast. Storing it for a few days in the freezer and then putting back out. She told me personally that she scoffs at the Health Dept's rules for running a B&B and does whatever the hell she wants. Putting on a special show for when the Health Dept comes in to do their regular check ups. She also allows the dogs into the kitchen were she prepares food and I can only wonder how sanitary that must be. read more

The location is why we chose to come here. It is at the beach!!! However, were were lucky to have booked a place that was so much more than a nice location. The ladies (sisters) who run this place are the kindest and most friendly duo you could meet. They invited us to come down to the Douglas town social. So, we rode our bikes into town and felt like we were in a lovely novel. Downtown Douglas is quaint with an old upscale feel and the locals were so friendly and they all seemed to be best of friends with one another. There were plenty of options for restaurants that were close to the Inn too. I can not fail to mention the BREAKFAST. It was my husband's favorite part. So many TASTY options, from healthy fruits and parfaits to heartly meats and quiches. It was not the same breakfast every morning either. Also, if you are like me and keep a consideration for leaving food for later guest, there was plenty...PLENTY of yummy food. My husband even mentioned he loved the banana bread so much he wished he could have it later. They wrapped it up and put in the refrigerator for us to snack on when we came back from our activities. We also enjoyed the pool, hot tub and sauna. My boyfriend and I had a perfect, romantic getaway weekend at the Rosemont Inn last Fall! We drove up on a Friday night in a huge rainstorm, and the owners were so fantastic and waited up late to check us in and show us our room. It was in perfect condition, and the in-room fireplaces were a huge aspect to making our weekend so great. It was too cold to use the outdoor pool, but we utilized the hot tub and sauna every day. The breakfast was SO YUMMY- waking up every morning to the smell of eggs, bacon and scones fulfilled every hope we had from this gorgeous B&B. Their porch was also fantastic, as my boyfriend slept in, I was able to take my coffee on the front porch and read in their comfy rocking chairs. The location is also perfect- driving distance to many activities (apple picking, dune rides, etc.) yet buried in this gorgeous neighborhood off the lake. There is a lake entrance just in front of the B&B, so we could go watch the sunsets and walk the beach without having to go far. We stayed there for 3 nights mid-June 2009. We were surprised by how small our king-bed room was, and really dismayed by the size and functionality of the bathroom. As an advice, request room 15 as it is the biggest and nicest of the lot. The inn is across the street from a public beach on Lake Michigan. It's a quiet and nice location, away from the hustle of Saugatuck/Douglas and just a short drive away from both towns. The grounds are beautiful and tranquil. There are plenty of outdoor spaces to relax away from others. The beach is small and not that great. As an advice, try the oval beach in Saugatuck or even better, the Ottawa beach in Holland, our fave by far. The breakfast has been downgraded to generic continental fare. The selection is large on the week-ends. The owners informed us that the health department has refused to allow the inn to cook hot breakfast on site. Very disappointing. The price of the room has been decreased accordingly. On Friday and Saturday nights, there are appetizers to snack on, which was a pleasant surprise and hit the spot for us when we arrived. The inn has a sauna/Jacuzzi/pool, and it was nice to relax there at the end of the day. Bikes are available for rides, but they are old and uncomfortable. All in all, an OK location. read more

Only complaint I can even come up with is the room was a little tight, but still cozy and comfortable...other wise we had a wonderful stay. Pat's breakfast alone was worth the price...don't oversleep or you'll regret it ! The owners (Peter and Pat) are more than welcoming and helpful. The inn is great...the right mix of homey but plenty private when you want it. The weather was picture perfect for our May trip , and we had a great time at the beach as well as in town and at the dunes. I was so inspired I proposed to my fiancee then and there....looking forward to sealing the deal at such an outstanding venue. This truly is one of the finest places on earth.... I've lived in Cali, Florida and Hawaii and there is no place I'd rather be than in this lovely little burg. read more

We are property owners in the area. We had to make arrangements to attend a meeting during Halloween weekend while our cottage was being rented. We decided to try the Rosemont Inn for something different. We were looking forward to the accommodations. However a family emergency arose and were unable to make it. When we called to cancel or reschedule two days before we were scheduled to arrive, we were informed that their refund policy required a 14 day notice !!! They then charged us the full fee even tho we did not use the room. They did not offer a credit or partial refun. As property owners ourselves 14 days is a ridiculous time frame for cancelations. We will never go there again or refer them to anyone. The service and the way they handled the situation was terrible. read more
