Such a cute dog bakery store! We just happened to walk by it, and decided to check it out. It is on the smaller side, filled with toys, treats, and snacks. There were a lot of baked treats on display, and if my dog wasn't so picky about what she likes, I would've picked up some. I did get some jerkies that I hadn't seen before at other stores, and they had buy3-get1 free deal going on, so I of course picked up 4. We also picked up a couple of toys. Ladies working at the store were very sweet and helpful. If I lived close by, I'd definitely come back often. If you're looking for a custom bday cakes for your dog, definitely keep this place in mind! read more

I found The Dog Bakery in Pasadena through Yelp when I was looking for something special for our dog's first birthday. My planning was a little last-minute, and I learned that full dog cakes need to be ordered ahead of time. Luckily, they had a great selection of ready-made mini cakes and treats available. The shop is small and cute, with both a bakery section and a small selection of dog products. Since our dog is little and didn't need an entire cake, the individual mini cakes and cake bites worked out perfectly. We bought several different treats so she could enjoy them over a few days. This bakery definitely knows what dogs like because our dog absolutely loved everything. She devoured each treat with so much excitement. We've bought her dog cookies and cakes from pet stores before, but she has never eaten those with the same enthusiasm. Every time we gave her something from The Dog Bakery, she ate it with pure joy. The treats were reasonably priced, fresh-looking, beautifully decorated, and a good size. Honestly, if I didn't know they were made for dogs, I would have been tempted to try one myself! The staff was also friendly, and there was a good variety of ready-made treats to choose from. Parking does require a little planning. The bakery is located in an alley-style shopping area without street parking directly in front, so you'll need to park in one of the nearby garages and walk over. Overall, this was the perfect find for our dog's birthday. I'll definitely stop by again for more treats whenever I'm in the area. read more

We got her these and some dried cod skin. She loved all of it! The service was very good, little Callie even got a little treat when we walked in. Parking was free using the lot on just a block away (we were in and out pretty quick). There are nice places around if you want to get yourself a little treat as well. read more

The Dog Bakery - Pet Stores Near Me - Pasadena, California

I stumbled into The Dog Bakery while walking around Old Town Pasadena and was surprised by how much they managed to fit into a relatively small shop. It's tucked away in Mills Alley just off Colorado Boulevard, so it feels a little hidden from the main stretch, but it's open pretty late for this kind of specialty store, from 10 AM to 8 PM every day. The bakery section was definitely the most interesting part. There were so many treats and flavors that I had never really seen at a normal pet store, and some of them genuinely looked like something you would find in a human bakery. They had decorated cookies, cupcakes/pawcakes, doughnuts, chews, and full birthday cakes, including cakes that can be customized for your dog. The cake options are surprisingly elaborate, with different shapes and toppings and flavors ranging from peanut and coconut to carob and even savory meat-based options. They also have grain-free and wheat-free recipes, which I thought was a nice touch. What I liked most was that it felt like an actual bakery for dogs rather than a pet store that happened to sell a few cute cookies. There was a proper display of fresh-baked treats alongside packaged treats and chews, and enough unusual varieties that it was genuinely fun to look through everything even though I wasn't shopping for a specific occasion. The rest of the store is packed with dog things too. There were lots of toys, birthday accessories, collars and leashes, packaged food and treats, and other little things you could pick up as a gift. It's basically a very complete little dog bakery and boutique despite not being a particularly large store. I can see why people come here specifically for dog birthdays. You could realistically walk in and leave with a cake, a few ridiculous little pastries, birthday accessories, and a new toy and have the entire celebration covered. Even without a birthday to shop for, it was one of those unexpectedly fun stores to wander into. read more

Sesame also enjoyed the cake and we had a fun birthday for her. read more

I am beyond disappointed. I have been following Rocky Kanaka for years and years. So when I found out he had a doggie bakery by me, I was ecstatic!! My boy, Zeus' 13th birthday was coming up. We decided to do a small photoshoot with him and wanted a doggie birthday cake. I spent alot of time on their website but decided to come in to take a look at what their options were instead. When we first came in, I already mentioned to my husband I didn't feel comfortable coming in here. I don't know what's going on but the employees just stare at you. They don't greet you, they don't smile or welcome you in. The whole interaction was extremely uncomfortable. We decided on a medium heart shaped (6 inches) original wheat free cake with carob siding. We also decided on blue text that said "Happy 13th Birthday Zeus!" We ordered a dozen confetti paw cakes for some of his furry friends. A week later, on the day of pick up, my husband notified me they had used the wrong color for text (brown instead of blue like we wanted). I appreciated the lady who helped because my husband saw the color was incorrect, so she went to the back and had it fixed asap. She also even threw in a free candle for the inconvenience. This was truly the only thing appreciated throughout this whole experience. What I did not appreciate, was they smeared the brown text off the cake so now the cake looked dirty and smudgy. They did not attempt to make the cake look nice. They did it as quickly as they could. There were brown smudges all over the cake and this was unacceptable to me as we had our photoshoot for him in just a few hours. My husband tells me the woman goes to the back and he can hear her yelling at someone saying how they've kept messing up these orders lately. Why are they allowing the person to do this job if he keeps messing up the orders?? I understand accidents happen, and she tried to alleviate the situation, but the cake was still unacceptable to me. It was not presentable. When I called in to explain to the man on the phone why the cake was unacceptable, he responded with "ok." NO resolution. NO apology. I requested for a new cake but we ran out of time before the photoshoot. I do not recommend this place. There are plenty of other mom and pop shops who will treat you better than they treated us. read more

Conveniently located in the heart of Old Town Pasadena, this bakery offers a variety of dog cakes for celebrations. For my dog's special 11th birthday I ordered him a round cake a day ahead online and the process with easy and straightforward. It is a bit on the pricier side granted only my dog would be eating the cake but the decor and presentation is great. They allow you to customize the colors, toppings and the shape. When I went to pickup the cake, the employee was friendly and helped me with my order even though I didn't have the receipt with me. read more

Ordered a cake online for my dog's 1st birthday. I was able to select shape, and customize color details & writing. I was notified when the cake would be ready and picked it up. It was a smooth pick up process - I was told to thaw it for 1-2 hours for consumption. The cake came out so cute! Since my dog is small, we had so much leftover, which I shared with another doggy friend and both dogs loved the cake. It is adorable as it is good! I personally did try it.. I bought a cake on January 23rd for my dog's birthday. She barely had a small serving each day as a treat and by the second day, she was vomiting and having diarrhea. Third day, blood was found in her stool. We threw away the entire $42 cake and now might have to take her to the vet. I regret coming to this place and not looking carefully at the reviews, now realizing many others have also experienced this. Although they have good ratings, looking carefully at the 1 star reviews show this isn't the first case and it's awful. Will not be returning EVER. read more
