We came in on a weekend afternoon and were immediately seated. The decor is beautiful and we were served with unique plates, which I loved. Great atmosphere! The cocktails were good, I got the Thai Teani and while I could 10000% taste the alcohol in it, the Thai tea itself was really sweet which helped balance it out. My friend got the BRB which was also really good. I got the matsaman curry with chicken, which was creamy. I didn't think it was spicy and I wish there was more protein for the price, but otherwise it's a solid dish! My friends got the drunken noodle and hatyai fried chicken, which they enjoyed. Service was okay. Overall, it's a cute place and I really enjoy the environment here. I would definitely come back for drinks! read more

Love the dark moody vibe in here! The ambiance is beautiful. We had the sweetest hostess/waiter who were very helpful! I had the gin cocktail that was sooo good! We also had the pork belly app, chicken pad Thai, and drunken noodles with fried chicken. Everything was amazing! My new favorite Thai spot in the city. read more

We came here on a double date in the evening. We had a reservation but we still had to wait a while for our seating. So much so, that the kitchen closed before we could try dessert. The food was very good, but it wasn't the best experience. read more

Visited the Dara for the first time for dinner. The restaurant is beautiful and ambiance was very relaxing. It wasn't crowded for a week night dinner. The service was prompt. Ordered the chicken sateh and matsaman curry. I can handle some spice but always think I can handle more than I can. So I kept the curry at level 1 and maybe could have had a 2. Both were delicious. Didn't have drinks this time, but would go again. Didn't get a picture of the curry. read more

Date night at The Dara was 5 star for sure! You must try them. Very vegan friendly!!! We went on a Wednesday so it wasn't super crowded. Our server was so nice and attentive! We got the Gui chai appetizer (so delicious! Must try), drunken noodles, tofu nam dang, and roti. All dishes were fresh, full of flavor, and obviously made with love! We will come back again! Also that roti was the best I've ever had! Love this new addition to the area. read more

If you're near Fells Point and looking for good Thai food, then go to Dara! We came here on a Monday night to celebrate our friend's birthday and we were not disappointed. The restaurant was not busy, spacious seating inside, and high ceilings. Be aware the food can be spicy depending on the heat level you choose. You can choose how spicy you want it from level 1-5, 5 being the spiciest. We chose 3, I thought it was just right (I love spicy food), but my friends thought it was a little too spicy so you might want to go lower if you can't take the heat. Our server, Rainbow was super nice, very helpful and accommodating. Thank you Rainbow for being our server. The surrounding area was also nice, it's a short walk to the pier, cafes nearby if you want coffee and dessert. Parking wasn't a challenge, but it could be on a busy weekend. You'll drive over cobblestones to get to the restaurant; it felt like we were stepping on a little bit of history. read more

Charming location in an old row house on a side street in historic Fells Point. But who cares ...lol...the Thai food is amazing, authentic, innovative and high class. Like a bistro you'd find in Montreal or NYC, but Thai. Dumplings, curries, but special dishes that are unlike any in the city. When I went it was too new for the drafts to be up yet but great list. Service great! Highly recommend! read more

We had very nice takeout today from Dara Thai. We had delicious fried lotus, Root, golden and crispy and crunchy with a sweet sauce, and we had the standard Thai appetizer chicken sauté with a delicious peanut sauce. We had Penang curry and the sauce of coconut milk was slightly thin and no kaffir lime leaves. We had pad see eew with a pleasant, smoky taste. We also had pad eggplant which was nice. The mango sticky rice was delicious. read more

Great Thai restaurant in Fells! I had never seen a dish like the gaeng ga-ti pu before which felt like a great tribute to Maryland on the menu. The curry was flavorful and the soft shell crab was delicious. Be conservative on the spice level, the other dish we got was just a 3 on their scale and we had a tough time finishing it with pretty good spice tolerance. Cocktails are also delicious! Atmosphere feels luxe and service is good. read more

The space is beautiful and the staff extremely welcoming, though it was surprising to see it nearly empty on a Thursday evening. The Dara excels at simple dishes, the Chinese broccoli stood out and showed real care from the kitchen. I had hoped for more creative options, but the menu leans toward traditional Thai fare. read more

Drunken noodles were delicious! Was able to get a Singha too. The interior is surprisingly quaint, so much gorgeous brick and great lighting. Service was perfect. Will definitely come back. read more

I was so excited to see this brand new thai restaurant in fells point in the old red star. We walked in and were seated immediately. The menu is vast and we decided to try their curries. My mother tried the Penang curry and I got the green curry. Both were very flavorful and nuanced. We were astounded by the creamy texture of the curry. It was delicious and we can't wait to go back! Definitely a must try. read more

Two visits. Two great experiences. Food is great, with sophisticated menu choices. Service is great. The owner is actively involved in overseeing and helping the staff. Applause!!! I will be back read more

First off, we arrived right before closing but they greeted us and sat us down which was very nice and much appreciated. The whole place smelled amazing, like layers of spice and flavor. We were starving travelers! We tried a variety of items, each better than the last. Delicious! I really enjoyed the whole fish, which had an amazing presentation. So light on the outside, yet dense and meaty and super fresh. I would consider this "Asian fusion", with lots of tasty options. The service was pleasant and the food was very good. We appreciated the hospitality and will be sure to return. read more

Delicious and HOT!!!! I ordered the Kao Soi for my wife and it said spice level 2 was "as prepared" and it was delicious. I ordered a Pad Thai and Tom Kha soup with level 3... The Pad Thai was immediately making me regret my life decisions! It is a delicious dish but maybe a bit spicier than I expected... But still VERY good! The soup was delicious and also spicy but not quite to the level of the Pad Thai. Either way I will be ordering again, this food was awesome! read more

What a terrible first experience with the Dara. Single handedly ruined what was supposed to be a special birthday dinner. After a long day at the hospital, I ordered delivery via Grubhub. After the restaurant made my Grubhub driver wait 45min promising "5 more minutes", my order arrived an hour late and completely cold. The giaow pak did not resemble recent photos in the slightest and was no better than store bought dumplings. The green curry was watery thin with the tiniest portion of undercooked vegetables and unremarkable overdone tofu. An incredibly disappointing meal to say the least. If this is the standard of service and food quality that the Dara holds itself to, I will not be dining here again anytime soon and would encourage other Yelpers to follow suit. read more

Have tried this place twice now and would rate it 3.5/5 but rounding up to 4! I love that they serve cocktails here and the ambiance is dim and cute for date night. Service was a little slow at times, but our server was the hostess, bartender and server all in one. I tried their menu cocktails - Rubin's gin kiss and the never too much. The never too much was a little much, overly sweet to my taste but the gin kiss was nice. My boyfriend had an old fashioned, which didn't turn out right but it was understandable since our server was doing three roles at once, and we don't expect much in terms of cocktails from a thai restaurant. Food was good compared to other thai restaurants I've tried in Baltimore! For starters, we tried the papaya salad which was refreshing and bursted with flavor. We also tried the larb duck which we really enjoyed, great flavors, served with lettuce wraps. We also tried the seasonal ocean spring rolls, which we wouldn't order again. It was a weird combination of spring roll with an assortment of different fish eggs that just didn't taste right together. For entrees, we tried: drunken noodles - nothing special but hit the spot if you're craving it mama's volcano - this was amazing!! a must try, super flavorful, you can ask for it to be not too spicy, came with noodles and seafood hatyai fried chicken - chicken was a little soggy, butterfly pea rice just taste like plain rice, yellow curry is a weird combo to add to this dish ribeye jim jaew- the steak was very lackluster, not a good quality steak, very dry and no seasoning. overall, not a bad place to try if you're craving thai food and looking for a nice date spot! read more

The service and atmosphere at the Dara was spot on. While I didn't enjoy my pad see ew, it wasn't bad, just not to my taste and I'll try something else next time. My friend loved her massaman curry and my Thai iced tea was elite. The gentleman who seemed to be the manager checked in on us a couple of times, including asking if we were celebrating when he noticed my friend brought me a gift. He brought us mango sticky rice to enjoy for my birthday which I thought was such a lovely touch. Their menu included several dishes that are outside of typical Thai menus and I look forward to trying one of those next time. Definitely give this spot a try and make a reservation! read more

Let me start out by saying they have wonderful customer service. I felt very welcomed in this cozy and warm restaurant. My husband and I loved everything. The bartender was so talented and the drinks were superb. The food was so tasty. We got the crab fried rice, kao soi chicken, and drunken noodles. There was more food than we could eat in one sitting. For drinks we tried My Mai Tai, Oasis, BRB, Rubus Gin Kiss. Just delicious. Will definitely be back! read more

The Dara is a great, cute spot for Thai Food in Fells. We have been on the Bodhi Thai train for the last few years, but I will definitely throw this in the mix for delicious Thai food! There were four of us and we got 3 entrees, a (huge) side, and a dessert to share and we were stuffed! I was really happy to see how vegan / veg friendly everything is (which is not always the case with Thai food given the reliance on fish and oyster sauce). The Panang Curry stood out as especially delicious. Only knocking off a star because the service was a little slow (likely due to being understaffed / new). Everyone was extremely friendly and accommodating, but it took a while for them to take our order and it seemed like they had forgot our dessert order, because we had to remind them. All in all, I think that is part of their new-restaurant-growing-pains so definitely will check them out again! read more

Amazing new Thai spot. The service is great and the food is amazing. We had the lotus root, chicken sateh, tofu pad si eew, and beef pad kra praow. It was all delicious and I'll def be back. I only ordered delivery from this restaurant. The options were good, with vegan alternatives that I assume don't include oyster/fish sauce in sauces. The portions were good, but the food was bit bland and lacking in vegetables. I chose tofu as the protein, but pad thai and curries usually have a lot of veggies; these didn't. There was a vegetable option under protein, but I thought that just doubled the normal amount. The curry had a good spice but that was the only "flavor"; the pad thai was lackluster. Would maybe try again inside the restaurant. read more

A great new Thai restaurant in the area! Checked it out when looking for a place to eat on a Friday evening. It seemed like they had just been up and running for a week or two at that time, but I have also ordered take out since! I've really enjoyed their drunken noodles, green curry, and panang curry. They are all delicious! I also really like the vibes in the restaurant-- nicely decorated, kind service as well. Very excited to come back!! read more

I would recommend if you want to have small plates with friends and a few drinks and aren't in a hurry. The entrees were small and overpriced for the quality. But we really enjoyed our appetizers and the cocktails. We came in on a Sunday afternoon, only one other table in the place and service for drinks and getting our orders was very slow. Once the food orders went in though it was a reasonable pace. read more

Excellent food and service. I just moved to the area and stopped by about a week ago where I was greeted by a nice young waiter. He walked me through the menu and was very kind and patient as I decided on what to order. The food was amazing! For the appetizer I got the special rolls and for the entree I got the chicken teriyaki. For dessert, I took a risk and ordered the fried bananas and was not disappointed!! The absolute best. The ambiance was calming and the owner was also very kind. Will definitely be back soon. read more

I've been to the Dara only once at this point, and I can recommend it with some caveats. When I walked in through the door, I was expecting to sit down on a great date in a lively new neighborhood location. It's got the foundations to be something great, but badly needs to work out a few issues. I felt they skimped on serving sizes (and I usually feel satisfied splitting the average American "main" at a restaurant, and I was really surprised to not be able to order a Singha, let alone other beverages at this "Restaurant Bar" that apparently is not, as they reported not having a liquor (or wine/beer license, as most restaurants have). The Dara has a beautiful interior of old wood, brick, and nicely matched hanging lights that I understand are carryovers from the former Red Star, which closed before my moving to the city. It also has its prior bar, which seems pleasant and like a beautiful place for a bite or a beer after work, if it weren't for the fact that it's now unstocked and without the din of customers you would expect for a restaurant/"bar" like this on a chilly Friday evening. The servers were attentive and polite, and the spice level "three" green curry that my wife got was delicious, tasted fresh, and with what we expected ofr a "medium" spice level for a pretty average American who uses habanero sauce at home here and there. I had the Hatyai Fried Chicken, which was quite tasty and well-cooked, though a little cold on the end pieces. It had a pleasant yellow curry dipping sauce, but not enough to make it to the last of the chicken. Despite the dishes tasting as I had hoped, another issue arose that will keep The Dara from becoming a regular in my rotation: the amount of rice that was served was skimpy, probably less than a cup with the curry, and a bit under 2/3 of a cup with my fried chicken. We ordered an extra side of rice, and even with that, we had to really ration to sop up all of the delicious green curry, not a problem I've encountered at many other locations. With Rice so cheap, I wonder why they scamp out on this aspect of the meal, especially with prices in line with a premium experience. I hope that The Dara can iron out its issues. If they do, I imagine it will be full, inviting, and a great experience. Otherwise, it's immediately apparent they will have difficulty sustaining themselves, as when we visited, we were one of only two filled booths on a prime Friday night. read more

the most mediocre thai food we've ever had. for all the hype this place wAs bland, expensive and overall just unexciting

The Dara is open until 3pm. My party (4) arrived just before 2:30pm for a late lunch and were turned away, and the restaurant was not crowded at all (It was a Monday). The hostess said the kitchen needed to close at 3. I'm a culinary professional - any pro kitchen should be able to turn 4 meals in less than 20 minutes. So this was a lame excuse to me. I'm very disappointed. I don't know why we were unwelcome but as that was my first impression with The Dara, I am not motivated to return. read more

We found this restaurant on yelp. After reading the reviews I thought we should definitely try it. I am IN LOVE and OBSESSED with Thai cuisine so of course I was eager to try it. It is the best Thai restaurant I have ever tried and modestly speaking I have eaten in many throughout the world for 30 years. If you love Thai food as much as I do you MUST try this place. We ordered the lotus root appetizer. I had the green curry crab dish which was to die for... almost asked for the sauce to go... it was that good. It has a special blue rice, the soft-shell crab with big chunks of crab meat that I will dream of until we return to Baltimore. We also had the pad thai, chicken satay and the grouper. The service was spectacular and the ambience/ decor so beautiful. Wooden beams and columns with beautiful dimmed lights. Can't rave enough about it! read more
