What a cool little place. We have passed it lots of times and finally checked it out on a weeknight. It was busy on a Tuesday night and had a good mix of young, old, families, singles, dogs, everyone was there! They have 60 taps with every kind of beer you can imagine. They have 5 oz, 8 oz, and 16 oz pours which I love so I can sample things in a smaller size glass. They even had a gluten free beer for me. I wanted to try the guava key lime hard seltzer but it was sold out that night. It appears that you can bring food in, and they have both inside and outside seating. Would be a great place to bring a board game, and a pizza, and make a night of it. read more

But after their stellar customer service during the pandemic, I felt it was time to give them the shout out they deserve. Pre-pandemic: we loved coming here, especially with the rotating beer selection the knowledgeable/accommodating workers who let you sample beers before you buy a growler's worth. Such a cool concept for a place and lots of positive features - many sizes of beer to choose from, 60 taps including their non-alcohol root beer, a new growler when you bring the old one in, trivia nights on Wednesdays, a game room where you can choose from a selection of board games, happy hour with 50% off pints, ability to bring your own food, nice small outdoor patio Peri-pandemic: that all is obviously different now. We went a couple weekends ago and I was impressed with their cleanliness. After the customer ahead of us finished ordering, the bartender sanitized the pen, cash register, counter, and her hands, before putting on new gloves to take our order. When you're done paying with a credit card, she makes you leave the pen on the counter rather than putting it back with the other pens so she can appropriately sanitize after each use. I feel confident that they take appropriate measures to keep their customers safe. Used to frequent this place as it's down the street from my house. Last few times I've been there, it's been over run with kids. I'm talking table full of kids camped out with iPads and toys. They run around and make noise, and, well, act like kids. In a place that as far as I can tell doesn't sell anything but beer. I don't hate kids or anything, but I used to come on Fridays at the end of a busy week to relax and have a beer, no to listen to a bunch of screaming kids. Her son was sexually harassed by another patron, and the owners did nothing. Later, she was shamed by another patron (patrons?) about her parenting. I had to look into The Daily Growler after hearing about the humongous selection of beer. They seriously have 60 varieties that include crafts, internationals, and locals, which makes this a must stop for any beer lover. It has a good happy hour special where pints are half off. The worst thing is they only fill their own growlers. You'll have to buy one there. It has a massive selection of beer. Their best special is unsurprisingly the Daily Growler, which is the beer chosen for that day's special. I like the concept but an annoyance is having to bring in their branded growler. They exchange it for clean ones each visit. This kind of makes sense, but it seems like they're using gimmicks to make you spend a little more. Another thing is there's no descriptions of the beers. You'll have to look online to find them. Apparently there's not enough room for this. It's the trade off for the massive selection. The products still make all this inconveniences worth it. The Daily Growler has one of the most impressive selection of American craft beers (60 taps!) in Columbus, and has been my go-to growler filling store for the past 2 years. The staff is friendly, the atmosphere is relaxed, and their website seems to be up to date 99% of the time. My previous review of The Daily Growler had a bit of a fanboy tinge to it, and I grossed over some of the obvious flaws about this place... so I'm updating my review to make it a more balanced review. The good: -Excellent, ever-rotating selection of craft beers on draft. -They frequently carry beers that simply aren't ever available in cans or bottles. -Great service. -They don't serve food, so you can bring whatever takeout food you want with you. The bad: They are very expensive. I'm hesitant to say it... but they're kinda over-priced. Their beer pricing is more consistent with a bar rather than a grocery store. If you don't go during happy hour, a flight (six 5oz pours) can set you back over $20. $20 for 30oz of beer is pretty steep when you think about it. So if the exact same beer is available at a grocery store, you may want to just get it at a grocery store. A pick-6 variety pack of craft beer at Giant Eagle is $11.99 for 72oz of beer. The concept of a growler in itself also has its flaws. You have at most 3 days after opening to drink the whole growler lest it get stale and flat. So a growler of beer is best consumed in large groups, like at a party. Conclusion: -Highly recommended if you're a craft beer snob who likes to try different, rare beers. -Also highly recommended if, unlike me, you can tell the difference in flavor between canned beer and draft beer and really prefer your beer on draft. -Definitely avoid if you prefer to drink beers readily available at the grocery store. This includes craft beer. A 6 pack of Bell's Oberon or Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald will be waaay cheaper per ounce at any given grocery store. read more

Their online ordering has been awesome. I love being able to schedule a pickup time, leave my old growler on a table and basically have a contactless transaction. I visit this location the most now that I'm not working downtown (where the GVBD location is) and I've been impressed with their customer service and cleaning standards. They have a nice selection of beers with lots of price points. I've gotten growlers for as cheap as $13 (and it was craft beer!) to as high as $20+. In this case, it's beer. Good beer. That may sound simple, but craft beer is not something to mess with, friends. We need to stop for a moment and appreciate the fact we have a centralized place to purchase beer that we like, typically made by craftsmen at specific breweries only found on tap at bars, and enjoy them at home at our leisure in quantities limited by our vices and wallet size. The staff at DG is always extremely helpful and makes me feel welcome every time I come in asking for suggestions and samples. I also really like their patio and inside seating as it's very spacious to move around (especially when you're carrying heavy flights) and host large friend gatherings. A growler filling station 10 minutes from my house? How could I refuse?! I walk in and immediately notice the scent of all things beer. It is what I would imagine a German Oktoberfest would smell like. It is a spartan little place with a long bar and several tables. There are LCD screens displaying all of the beers on tap. Fantastic idea which sure beats an old fashioned chalk board. All of the taps are numbered, so you don't have to say you want the Hoppin Frog Goose Juice. Just tell them the number and they will fill 'er up. The selection, well, 60 taps is about all you need to say. Phenomenal mix of strong and session beers as well as root beer for the kiddos or DDs. The Daily Growler will only fill their own growlers, and for good reason. After you purchase a growler you can bring it back and exchange for a clean, sanitized and chilled replacement. Wonderful idea. Those growlers can be difficult to clean, but apparently they have a state of the art growler cleaner. I've been there twice now and had to wait several minutes for each fill. That is ok though, because they just opened a week ago. There will be growing pains. When I got home, the beer was fresh and delicious. No food is served here and it's the only reason I'm dropping this to 4 stars. Chalk it up to me being lazy - they are totally OK with you bringing in your own food. FYI, the Panzera pizza nearby (1 minute walk from this place) is very good. Great selection - remember they've got 60 taps! And it seems to rotate often so that if you come here two weeks later, at least 2/3 of it will be different/swapped out. You won't lack for variety. The bathrooms are clean. They have a large group room you can book for free if you purchase something like $200 worth of beer (or something close to that). Summary : Very spartan set up. Great selection. The Daily Growler is a magical place. When you arrive there are 60, oh yes I said 60, taps of beer before you waiting for your consumption. If you are staying in to drink they will sell you pints or even 5 oz tastes for fairly decent prices. The beers change often and definitely make it impossible for one to get bored with their selection. And just when you thought that was pretty cool, as the name suggests they also fill up growlers (64 oz jug things). I have to admit that having this incredibly delicious beer at my disposal when ever I want is probably bad for my health, but my word I do love it. The atmosphere is also pretty cool. They have captured the whole industrial minimalist thing pretty well and have two separate seating areas. One in the front by the taps, and another backroom that has some screens and such. The back room serves rather well if you are going there with a group. Oh and they also let you bring in your own food due to not having a kitchen of their own. I've noticed a lot of other patrons ordering pizza and the like. Lastly the service at the bar area is great. The guys up there are polite and decent conversationalists. Chips from the bar {if you know us, you know our obsession}. Hell, we can even have pizza delivered here! So, what's not to love, right? Well, simply, it's the service. I don't think we've ever come here when we haven't felt like we're the world's biggest imposition on the barkeeps' time. To the point where we've even had one individual in particular roll their eyes as they had to sit down their cell phone to take our orders. We REALLY want to keep coming back here, but more often than not when D or I will suggest it, we'll decide it's ultimately not worth the hassle of having to interact with the staff and wind up going someplace else. read more

I wasn't too impressed with the bartender's recommendations either. There was a food truck located outside and it seems like they have one almost every Friday night. The food on this particular Friday night was overpriced and mediocre. Considering the weird tasting beer, average food, and somewhat loud and cramped environment; I don't think I'd be back. This place is perfect for guys like me. I'm more of a cocktail with dinner guy these days, but I occasionally have the hankering for a good draft beer. I'm also a middle-aged dad with young kids who doesn't do the bar scene any more (and never did it well in the first place.) This used to pose a significant problem, because I'm not going to waste a date night (including the cost of a baby sitter) to make my wife sit in a bar with me while I drink 8 oz of beer and then ask her to drive me home because I'm such a lightweight these days. I'm not going to tell my wife to watch the kids while I go to a bar to have a drink (trust me, no husband/father would ever do this and expect to live to tell the tale), plus I don't want to be the guy in the bar drinking by himself. I guess I could go buy the bottled version of beers I like, but it's never as good. Into my conflicted life falls The Daily Growler! I can get my preferred draft beer (Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale) or try something new for far less than I would pay for the bottled version or in a bar (not that I could drink 64 oz of anything at one time) and drink it at my leisure. How awesome is this idea? The prices are great considering the selection and you can exchange the growler you take home for a fresh, clean one on your next visit (avoiding the $4 surcharge on the next visit), or you could join a jug band and accumulate several growlers for your new hobby. I was able to enjoy this place during happy hour which I believe takes place from 3-7pm on weekdays. The 5oz samplings are 25% off, pints 50% off, and growlers $1 off during this time. They also have a daily featured growler for purty darn cheap. During my visit it was Bells Pale Ale for $8 a growler! The beers are listed on a some flat screen tvs at the bar. They do not have room for descriptions so ask the bartender about the beers or log onto their website for descriptions. The atmosphere was simple, inviting, and down to earth. A few private tables are scattered about the room and then there's a long communal wooden table with wooden benches. I liked their simple graphic orange stripe that can be seen on their signage, walls, glasses, and growlers. The service was good and the staff helpful. My only wish was that this place was open beyond 10pm on weekdays and 12am on weekends. Anyway I highly recommend checking this place out! Love The Daily Growler. Been waiting for something like this for a while. The beer selection is good, and as they grow their reputation, I've heard it is only going to get better. The service means well - it takes a while to get through the line, which was also out the door on a Thursday afternoon when I went. Couple things - need to spruce up the space. I know it's contemporary and minimalist, but throw up some local art or something. Also, need to have table service. With people lining out the door, if you are at a table and want another beer, you pretty much have to go wait in that big line again, which kills all vibes. Lastly, they need a card/chalkboard/something eraseable to give to people when you get a bunch of tasters. There's such a variety it's hard to remember what all 4-6 of them are when you get back to the table! But the deals are fantastic, as others have captured thoroughly. Though I'm aware it's probably not one-of-a-kind, as it seems these types of places are popping up all around Cbus, my first visit was a great one, and I'm a fan. 60 beers on tap, rotating frequently it seems, as far as I can tell. We went and got a "buy 5, get one free" sampler paddle. You get 3 oz. samples, and they were nice and patient with us while we decided what we wanted. The samples run around $2.50-$4 from what I saw. They've got a great assortment of local, Ohio, and regional micro-brews, and there is something to satisfy anyone's beer drinking tastes. The menu is all digital and organized well so you can scan for your choices. They have a back room that you can reserve. I'd say it can seat up to ~25-30. There are a couple of TVs and a fridge, so you can order some growlers and hang out and drink them and keep them cold. The atmosphere is nothing extraordinary, but if you're looking to hang out and try some new beers before taking home a growler or three of your choice, this is a perfect place. read more

While we were there, the line was out the door most of the time we were there. They need another register or another "waiter". Seemed like a lot of workers milling around behind the bar while the line was out the door, but not serving beer and cashing people out. Have I not reviewed the Daily Growler before? I thought for sure I had! As a kid, we used to ride our bikes to this little shopping plaza all the time. It's fun to come back here as an adult with someplace adult to visit. The space itself is fairly stark and spartan. No food, but you're welcome to bring your own. It's not a bad place to hang out -- we've stopped by several times for a pint when we're on our way northward on Riverside Drive after work. Where this place really shines is with the growler filling system. Come in with an empty growler (or no growler) and take your pick from the huge wall of ever-changing beers. They'll fill a fresh, steralized growler for you, so it's more of an exchange program (but I think you have to bring in Daily Growler-specific growlers). The line moves quickly and I've seen tons of people cycle through here for their weekend beer on a Friday after 5. The beer variety is incredible-- I know that's fairly easy to find nowadays (and growler tap rooms are becoming more and more common), but here you have a good mix of local, regional, national, and (I think?) even some international beers. We've often asked for recommendations based on the type of people or event we're bringing the beer to, and the staff has always been helpful when we need to make an informed selection. There seem to be these private rooms off the back hallway. I'm not sure what they're all about -- are they for rent for private groups? Every day they have a daily special and usually it's a pretty good deal, like Dragon's Milk for $16 which is normally $22 here and $22-25 most everywhere. Their growler prices are pretty competitive and they know how to fill a growler properly with a hose. All growlers big and small are $4, you have to use one of yours except with they have growler amnesty days where they will trade you one of theirs for one of someone else's. Once you have one of theirs they exchange it for a new one each time you come so you have a clean growler and you can exchange any size for any size. Their flights and pints are pretty poorly priced, I've seen pints that were $11 when the growler was $22. 4-5oz tasters can be anywhere from $3-5 which is a bit high, but your sixth on your flight is free (always the cheapest one). And they do have a happy hour 3-7 which is about 25% off pints and tasters and this gets automatically updated on the menu boards. So every now and then I will come do a flight here if they have an awesome beer list, but I can usually do the same flight elsewhere for half the cost...so come here for what it is...need a growler filled, get it, that's your best deal. read more

Decent beer selection. Generally rude, indifferent staff. I guess that's to be expected from hipsters. Won't fill growlers that aren't their own for sanitary reasons. That's fine, but you might want to have that sign posted visibly somewhere or tell your staff if they see a customer looking at the menu for five minutes holding a growler that clearly isn't yours to let them know immediately that you can't fill it. Great spot for the beer lovers! This place has some great taps, I could sit and sample all day! You can't beat variety like this, especially with stiff competition from places in the area. The only downside (and it's not much of one) is that this is really a carry out place, and not meant to spend a lot of time drinking in. Seating is limited! Prices were fairly reasonable. I am a picky beer drinker. My taste buds are very certain that I don't like hoppy beers. That makes it hard to find a good beer. I do love beer, just not particular flavor profiles. These people took their time to talk to me about each and every beer, I was able to taste them and decide that today my best option was a growler of Wyder's Berry Cider. I am a happy girl. Along with the growth of craft beer in Columbus has been the rise of more growler and bottle shops to help support the interest of people who are looking to broaden their horizons. Daily Growler has a nice setup, with a small patio outside, large tables and bench setups inside, a small "private" room in the back, and a nice bar area featuring computer displays showing what's currently available, where it's from, and the pricing information. (One very cool feature is that it updates in real time as taps run out and are replaced - I watched a tap blow out, the board entry update to "coming soon", and when a new keg from another brewery was set up later, it snapped over to the new one!) I also appreciate that Daily Growler is one of the only places in Columbus offering cans (or Crowlers, as they call them), filling and sealing them for you for about the same price as a half growler fill. I do wish that with such extensive beer options and tastings available that they offered some kind of food option beyond the OH! Chips for sale, or had easier access to water to help balance things out, but they do seem to let you bring in food from the grinder shop in the same strip mall or another outside restaurant, which helps. Also, if you're there in a DD role, you'll be glad to hear they make their own (very tasty!) root beer and offer that in pints, growlers, or crowlers as well! read more

Okay, so this place is awesome. Oh? You want more than that? Well, they have a crapload of beers on draft and you can get sample (5 oz) sizes, or pints or growlers of your favorites. When I walked in I didn't know what I wanted. I asked for something in the porter/stouts range. I got the CBC SOhio stout. It was awesome.
