Good food, great service! Need to pick up the game in bussing the tables, however. Saw one group with an adorable baby leave, just as we arrived; however, their mess was still not cleaned up by the time we left after dinner and dessert. And PLEASE bring back the flourless chocolate cake!! We miss it terribly, it's SO good, and also especially since we are gluten free. The chocolate mousse was nice, and the strawberries a nice touch. We love coming here, but we want The Dish to thrive and that means being on top of cleanup and paying attention to detail. Let's see y'all be the best you can be!! read more

Came here for breakfast after the Parkway Deli looked way more crowded than I wanted to deal with. We (1 adult, 1 toddler), were seated promptly and thankfully we're given a table by the large window which kept the toddler more corralled than a normal table. The food came out fast. I ordered the Poached Egg portobello which was excellent. The toddler had a mash up of a blueberry muffin (not very good, even the toddler wasn't impressed), scrambled eggs and a side of fruit. Could have been a bit more attentive with regard to water refills, the check, etc but otherwise very pleasant experience. read more

The server makes it obvious that he's in a big hurry each time he impatiently interacts with us on the fly. There are only a few tables. That impacts our enjoyment of the experience we are paying more. The marinated NY strip steak sandwiches are good and so are the prices. We like sitting next to the open glass-panel garage door in view of the covered patio with potted plants. read more

This friendly neighborhood restaurant has really put together a great menu during this Covid-19 time. We ordered the shepherds pie which was delicious and shared the family size order with neighbors to pick up ( not sit down with us) Thanks for hanging in there with a great menu in these challenging times. read more

This place pays real attention to great service and delicious food. Extensive menu selections, particularly for brunch. Mimosas, terrific Bloody Mary bar, some great draft beer choices, lots of hot sauces along the counter inside - I mean, they've got it all. Pizza is really good too. Check it out, you'll be happy you did! read more

I like this place and had a soft shell crab BLT sandwich today for a whopping $23 Unfortunately, the crabs had shells that were not soft. For this money, truly an excellent and delicious sandwich should be on offer and this wasn't it. read more

I should start by saying the food here was quite good. Our meal started with 3 sliders, which were delicious and perfectly cooked. We moved on to veggie/goat cheese pizza and the pulled pork sandwich. Both were quite tasty, and if that was all I was reviewing it might even earn them 4 stars. But the service...good god, the service. The restaurant wasn't even full. We were unceremoniously dumped near the back, the host leaving us with 2 lunch menues. Too bad--we had hoped for brunch, but assumed we had missed it. Turns out we hadn't, as we discovered after we saw another couple get brunch food. But there was no one to ask--we were ignored for 10-15 minutes while the staff rushed passed us, intent on ignoring us. Once my wife flagged someone's attention, an employee somewhat begrudgingly came over. We ordered drinks and food at once. We never got plates for the appetizer--we resorted to passing the serving plate between us. We never got refills on our drinks. And we had to sit and watch our food get cold on the kitchen's order-up counter, while our waiter chatted with a table at the front of the store. The staff just didn't give a damn. I am not demanding as a customer either--just get me a drink, and check in once or twice to make sure we don't need anything. I may return to try the burger (the sliders were very good), but with some hesitation. I prefer to dine somewhere that is interested in having me. read more

We should have stuck to the initial breakfast plan - The Parkway Deli Cute little spot, but the food was not impressive. The service was slow & our waiter came back twice to ask us the same question about our order. Had to listen to the owner gab about the two trips she took recently and a magazine article she put together. She seemed friendly, but I really didn't care to sit and hear about it two tables away. We also were initially ignored when we walked into the restaurant, I understand we weren't in our Sunday's best, but it was a rainy Saturday morning - sweatpants seemed best. and again, we should have stuck to our initial breakfast plan, no frills but good large portioned meals 4 doors down. read more

Disappointed... It looked like a cute little cafe to grab a bite before dinner. The menu highlighted many organic vegetable and meat concoctions. I'll give them a star for the creative menu. The soup there (curried pumpkin apple) is a worthwhile choice and crab cakes that have capers in them are also great. The let down was the date-night special and the woman who was serving us. The date special includes 2 salads, one pasta entree for sharing, and one dessert to share. Choices for salad was caesar or house. After asking what house was, we were explained that it was a mixed salad with goat cheese, cranberries, etc. What we received was literally salad greens tossed in balsamic/evoo served on a small plate. Really? I couldn't have put the together with half an IQ point? Pic will be uploaded later. The pasta dish was supposed to be big enough for two to share but was really only about 30% larger than the normal entree w/o the garnishes (cheese, parsley). We figured this out since the diners next to us ordered the normal-sized pasta. The pumpkin gnocchi, though pretty good, was a little messy with the two kinds of meats (sausage and beef?), diced pumpkins, etc. Sounded good, but tasted like something that you threw together using left over ingredients. Also, pumpkin was very underwhelming. Lastly, we ordered peach caramel pie. This may be the saddest pie I've seen (barely thicker than a wafer) and reminded me of the McDonald's pies. Sorry, but we gave this place a try and not only was the service brisk, uninformed, and the woman in charge barely blinked an eye to try and make it a place to come back to for non-regulars, the food was just mediocre. The menu has appeal but the flavors just don't deliver. Good for families--saw lots of children while I was there. Seemed that the mac & cheese was the most popular item of the night. read more

I made a reservation for Sunday Brunch on Open Table, clearly they don't plan on people making reservations. We waited for 30-min for our table but where repeatedly told how sorry they where NOT to seat us. We basically could have just walked in because everyone else waiting without a reservation was seated at the same time :( Our service (maybe she was afraid of us) kept avoiding us - no kidding! but finally settled into Brunch. Nothing to rave about and not impressed. Like someone said I really wanted to like this place but nahh I'll pass and go the deli next door. read more

Breakfast food is great. Pizza is overpriced, and loaded with cheese, soggy, and pathetic. If all it took was a pound of cheese to make a good pizza, I certainly wouldn't need to pay these prices. Also, the service is lacking. Really slow. They bring your food and never return. I'm done and I don't see how this place will last much longer with me or without me. It's gonna be without. read more

Discovered this place driving around very hungry... not many other restaurants close by. The restaurant is a little small (which was originally a garage shop) with the garage door still housed in the front. Colorful place with artwork hanging that can be purchased. Many regular customers who come to enjoy the alcohol and food (menus created by owner, Jerry). Had a lamb ravioli appetizer that I didn't really enjoy, but the recommended ribs and white wine from the waiter was delicious. The meat literally fell off the bone. No wet-napkin needed. Later on, a pecan pie with what seemed like a raspberry drizzle, topped with whipped cream and vanilla ice cream. Extensive wine list and several Flying Dog beers, bottle and a few draft. Great find for a hungry belly! Noticed others ordered pizza's, sliders, soups, and cheesecakes! Giving this place 4 stars because food was a little salty, but still tasty and enjoyable. Bartender was a little snooty with some of her employees, which wasn't professional in front of customers. Had a great waiter. If you go in, make sure you ask for Alex. He was really attentive with customer needs, helpful and quick, and knew the items on the menu well. You can't go wrong with him and very friendly to talk to. read more

This place is fantastic for breakfast and brunch. I always get the Eggs Benedict, you can't go wrong with either the Chesapeake option (crabcake) or the Gravlax option. They're both on point. Service is exceptional. This place can get busy though during lunch hours, especially on the weekend. Make sure to call ahead if you plan to come between the hours of 11 am and 1 pm. read more

Tried to go to brunch at the Parkway Deli a few doors down, but decided to try this place after seeing the long line. Got right in at this place. Good atmosphere. There were quite a few patrons, but it wasn't crowded and the fiance and I were able to have a conversation. The menu had a good variety of things, from pastries to frittatas to waffles and egg sandwiches. We both got coffee (big cups and free refills) and split a cherry/almond scone. Pretty good, although I'm not a huge fan of scones. I got the Challah French toast with maple syrup and applewood smoked bacon. The boy got the special omelette with with capicola, onions and mozzarella. We also split an order of the granola with yogurt and berries. Everything was surprising (and delightfully) huge. Bacon was cooked to perfection. Omelette was delicious. French toast was perfect. The granola business was pretty good, but the berries were dried instead of fresh. Service wasn't bad either. I think we got the same French (?) waiter a previous Yelper mentioned. He was always there when we needed something and always had coffee refills for us. The bill came to about $30 before tip for two people, which I consider to be pretty good considering all the food we got. read more

I am a fan of the food but not so much the management. The waitstaff is usually good; high turnover so there is always a trainee. Prices are a bit high and the service is slow, but it's a nice little place and the food makes it worth it. The day shift is nice, and the coffee drinks are good!! Good specials. UPDATE: Went in for a latte to go, and it still took 10 minutes to make. Also the turnover rate makes you wonder ... I loved going when Erica worked there, but now I never know who's working there. read more

We were looking for a light dinner for a few people to split, and saw that they had some pizzas which looked tasty. I'm vegan, and was also very pleased that they had vegan cheese. The pizza we got was pretty good, not amazing (and not worth $14.50 plus tax), but probably 3.5 stars on taste. So why the low rating? When I called I asked how large the pizzas were, so we would know if we would be able to split one or not. They said 14" (so a standard "medium," enough for a few people to get a light meal from). The actual pizza was about 9-10" (individual size). We wouldn't have ordered knowing we were paying ~$30 per sq ft of pizza, which is perhaps why they misled me when I called to order. I won't be back. read more

Very happy with our lunch here. Came with friends at lunchtime Saturday (4/15/17, 12:30 PM) and were promptly seated outside as requested. Our server (very pleasant African-American lady) was lovely and attentive, as well as patient with our horse of children. Food was excellent, my steak sandwich had the perfect amount of Bleu Cheese and the steak itself was tender (so the whole thing didn't fall apart with every bite). I would return. :) read more

I had dinner here last Sunday night as it was highly recommended by a member of our church dinner group. I must tell at first I wasn't so sure about the very casual atmosphere but the bartender, host and our waitress were so friendly, I "managed" to adjust just fine! I had heard the risotto was great so I ordered the duck breast with mushroom/saffron risotto and I was not disappointed at all! My duck was cooked to absolute perfection. For dessert I splurged on a piece of key lime pie and a latte. The pie was divine, the latte needed more milk but was certainly drinkable. Every one at our table left full, satisfied and happy. A great meal and great experience for all. I will be back to try the rest of the menu!! read more

A welcome change. Red Dog goodbye! Hello, The Daily Dish. Take the time to check it out. New owners and new staff. A group that cares about the food, quality of service, experience and enjoyment of their guests. How novel. Sunday brunch was enjoyable. The food here is really good. Most of the time I can go and do not have to wait to be seated. I live nearby and this is a reliable, affordable option for weekend lunch or brunch. This is also a great option for families with children; the ambiance is not too loud and there are are always families dining here---it feels very friendly and not at all disruptive. I want to give a special thank-you to their bartender: I left my wallet here accidentally one afternoon, and he found me on Facebook and sent me a private message to tell me it was there so I could come pick it up. I hadn't even realized it was gone! That's just going above and beyond. Really recommend you try this place if you are in the area. read more

I really wanted to like this place but the staff got everything wrong. * slightly off nonfat milk instead of cream with the coffee * the wrong version of eggs benedict (with salmon instead of plain) * none of the requested cheese in the dry and uninteresting scrambled eggs * the "crispy potatoes" from the menu when ordered extra crispy were undercooked and did not have any color to indicate they'd ever been anywhere but in boiling water and overly salty oil * the English muffin came dry without butter or jam until requested It was reported to me that the benedict, when corrected, was good, but the undercooked eggs (snotty whites and completely unset yolks) turned me off. A sad but complete lack of professionalism. read more

I wasn't impressed--our waiter was really great, but the food was only ok and the seating was kind of weird. I had the dip trio for an appetizer and macaroni and cheese as a side, and my friend had the Mezze Rapieghi, all of which were fine--but my pizza (mushroom, carmelized onion, and gouda cheese) really left a lot to be desired, it was just kind of bland and the cheese made me feel a little sick. (And believe me, I LOVE cheese, this is not normal.) read more

I think this is a hidden gem, but maybe that's just because I never knew about it until my friend suggested it. She couldn't remember the name and accidentally called it "The Dirty Dish" and I echoed that, but I realized that's probably the worst name for a restaurant. I also think the street it's on is fitting - "Grubb", "grub", get it? Ha-ha. I came here for lunch today with the aforementioned friend. I ordered a baby greens salad with the organic chicken breast for $5.00 extra. I thought that was too pricey for how little chicken came out. But at the same time, it was very juicy and I could just taste the organic portion of it! I was glad they got my order right, as I requested no cheese and no nuts. The prices are a bit higher than I would expect, but it's a small place and clearly it needs to stay afloat somehow and I don't blame them for that. The interior is very cute and the weather was nice so they had the big sliding/garage door open, which was very pleasant. Our server was attentive, and I just hoped I didn't seem like the rude one, mumbling that the food was fine with my mouth partially full! read more

We ordered a veggie pizza with mushrooms and roasted garlic. It came back a cheese pizza with olives. There was only one other table being served at 3pm on a Sunday. We pointed out the mistake; cooks sauted some veggies and threw them on top. Then charged us 1.75 for the olives. All this could be forgiven for good food. But it's unimaginative and, for being right next to the Silver Spring co-op, serves no obviously vegetarian or vegan options (you can opt out of ingredients if you want a very bland meal). So...a def. thumbs down. I'd love to see a different, indie-owned, vegetarian and vegan-friendly restaurant in this spot...until then, for us, this is The "Never-again" Dish. read more

I really want to like this place since we live within walking distance but ... service is not great. Sometimes I feel like they're bothered by our presence. They've also gotten our order wrong a couple times. Their homemade bread is awful. On the other hand, desserts are very good, other menu items are very good too and the atmosphere is very nice. I really hope they fix their service issues. read more

I think the food is very fresh and that is why I come here quite often. However, I had a very bad experience recently. The hot chocolate was almost white, no taste of chocolate, more like warm milk. And it had what looked like fake whipped cream on top. I ordered a breakfast sandwich with salad, instead of potatoes, and the egg cooked well. I got the sandwich with the potatoes and the egg was runny. When I pointed this out the waiter offered to change my egg and told me he would bring me the salad on the side. The salad on the side never came. I must say they were busy that day. They should increase the number of wait staff. This experience makes me not want to go back. It's a shame because the food is really very fresh and good. read more

Went there because the line at Parkway Deli was too long; what a mistake! 2 major problems: 1. The make your own Bloody Mary bar. They give you a glass of vodka and ice and then you mix your own. Sounds good, right? WRONG. There was little,if any, vodka. My wife, who does NOT drink much at all tasted it and couldn't taste any vodka. What was that liquid with the ice? water perhaps. So I ordered another one and ordered and extra shot of vodka. Not only did they not take the hint, but there were 2 shots of "water" instead of 2 because I still could not taste any vodka. Rest assured that when the bill came, I was charged for all 3 "vodkas." 2. The service was sloooooowwwwwwwww. We were there with a sleeping baby. The table next to use had an awake baby and an awake 2-3 year old. Their waiter was just as slow as ours. The host was a kid about 10 years old (the owner's son perhaps) so I didn't complain because I felt bad about taking a 10 year old to task. Also, I just wanted to get out of there fast. I should have complained to the waiter. Maybe next time. Oh, that's right, there will be no 'next time.' read more

This place is great! I usually go to Woodside Deli for Sunday breakfast but this place gives it a very good run for the money. They are different types of places - The Daily Dish is slightly more upscale but very casual and has a really warm, friendly vibe. The food is good, portions are good, and the price is right for what you get. Kids eat free on Mondays and there's a make-your-own-bloody-mary bar on the weekends. The hours listed here are wrong. I arrived on a Thursday at 10:40 only to be turned away and told they don't open until 11:30.

I liked this place. It's small (a bit chilly, probably was a warehouse in another life) but the food is made from scratch and is local so I'm all for that. I had the braised chicken, brussel sprouts and mac and cheese- Yep, I'd do that again for sure! My BF had the burger and he kept saying that I made a good choice in picking the place so I assume that means he liked it. My mom had the red snapper and cleaned her plate- no words needed. Absolutely appalled that this place isn't rated higher! If you're choosing between Parkway Deli and the Daily Dish, COME HERE! I've never ever had a negative experience here. I've come here many, many times. The staff is always friendly and care about the customer experience. I love how when the weather is nice, they open the front doors so the entire restaurant is open to fresh air. The decor is always changing because they pride themselves on highlighting local artists, which I find super cool. Additionally, the place has always been clean. The food: Yum, yum, yum! Some people may say it's expensive - but when you're paying for fresh, made-to-order, food made with locally sourced ingredients, it's 100% worth it! I worked at Norman's Farm Stand (Jones Bridge during summer and fall months) and I know this restaurant purchases ingredients in bulk from the stand. Norman's prides themselves on sourcing fruits and veggies from a 100 mile radius or less. So, to me, the price is beyond worth it to support our local growers. As far as food quality, as mentioned, it's all fresh and delicious!!! You honestly can't go wrong with any of their selections. I love how they also change their menu (slightly) to match changing harvest seasons. Their menu always reflects what's growing in the MD/VA/PA area. Anyways, had to leave a review when I saw Parkway Deli had a higher Yelp rating. There's no comparison... The Dish is a much better option! read more

Recently visited for Sunday brunch. The service was very slow, across the board as far as I could see, but none of the servers were particularly apologetic. It seems like a very chaotic operation, with cooks having to help out with serving. I had the Belgian waffle which managed to be both burnt at the edges and raw in the middle. Ugh. My brunching companion had eggs any style, which were fine. The breakfast potatoes were the best part of the meal, crispy and not greasy. read more

Enjoyed a September Saturday brunch here as a treat. I had the Chesapeake Eggs Benedict. If you're looking for just plain good tastes without the sauce, etc., this was probably the best possible item on the menu. Crab cake was awesome, eggs were delish/perfect. Ham was salty and complementary. Good coffee, good mimosa, great occasion to have breakfast outside near Rock Creek. 2 brunch entrees, a croissant, coffees and lg fruit bowl, and 1 mimosa ran us ~48 dollars. But we concur it was worth it. Will go again. read more
