I scheduled a color consultation, when I arrived they told me that the stylist I booked with, had gone home sick. Another stylist would be available however I would have to wait to see her. My 30 min appointment ended up taking over 2 hours. This stylist wanted to do a test strand, which I understand. She did two test strands which ended up looking bright orange, and then after we had a plan, shared that the salon would be closed for an entire week between Christmas and New years and the soonest appointment they had available would be almost 3 weeks later. They expected me to wait 3 weeks with these two streaks in my hair, after I had even told her I had an upcoming wedding about little over a week away. I was left scrambling trying to find another salon to fix the issue. read more

I've been coming here for about four years now. They have moved locations a couple times but I follow them wherever they go. It's hard to find a quality curly hair salon, especially one with consistency. I come in for a cut, wash, and style. And always leave happy. I've had a few different stylists but all have been very knowledgeable and do amazing work. The salon is always very clean and comfortable. I book my appointments online ahead of time to ensure I have the time slot I prefer because it is an experience! If you are looking to start your curly hair journey or want to find a staple for your hair care this is the spot. Now please be warned parking can be tricky. There is street parking and in Miami it depends on the time of day whether it is hit or miss. I usually end up about a block or so away for street parking. So give yourself some time before your appointment to find some. The only reason I don't give it a full 5 stars is because of the change in stylists and parking challenges. Upon entering I was greeting by a warm and friendly staff. My eyes weren't scanning the sea of curly-headed clients in salon chairs, and many of the stylists there were also curly girls. Despite Roxany being a junior stylist with straight hair, she did not disappoint. As soon as we discussed my desired shape, I felt comfortable. I've had curly cuts before, so I had an idea of what to expect. For reference, I have a 3b curl pattern with hair past my shoulders. I was honest about previously cutting my own hair and my willingness to trim where needed to achieve bigger hair. Roxany walked me through what would be covered, set expectations, and assured me that if we needed to cut more or make adjustments afterward, we could. I never felt like I couldn't speak up, ask additional questions, or that I was being pressured to buy products. I likely would have purchased some, but since I was flying back to NY, the sizes weren't TSA-approved. However, Roxany suggested I take pictures and explained how each product was used. The problem was finding the place because Google shows their old South Miami address and they didn't tell me this on the phone. They do send a text the day before your appointment explaining this but it's such a long text, I didn't get a chance to read it. I wish they would have just explained it when we first spoke. Likewise, the parking they refer you to is like 2 blocks away, wish they would have said so during my call cuz it was raining! When you finally make it there, they definitely have a way with curly hair. It's a bit pricy for a haircut and to heat your curls with the diffuser... but I did like the actual haircut and it fits well how my curls fall. Stumbled on this salon while walking around the neighborhood and love the name of the salon. While it's is expensive I love the way my stylist understood my curls and took her time to share a specific routine for my hair care. They are all professionally trained and understand curly hair- after all they are name the curl whispers! The only thing I would have enjoyed is some complimentary water or coffee especially the price I'm paying but I will let it slide as I did visit the salon right after COVID-19. I would recommend this salon for those with special hair needs. Let me tell you how ecstatic I was to discover a curly hair salon in Miami. I began transitioning to my natural curls in 2013 and endured a painful last year of college with scraggly, uneven pirate hair. The salon itself is really cute. A bit of a drive, but it's a plus that it's easily accessible even if you take the Metrorail there. The service at the salon is top notch. All the stylists are so knowledgable and friendly. I've been to this salon 2 (or 3?) times and had Yanisel as my stylist. It took a team effort each time to help me dry my hair, as I have a LOT. I really appreciate the patience these ladies put into helping me and my hair flourish. I love and appreciate this salon for introducing me to curl education, and giving my curls some shape for the first time in my life. Unfortunately, I just don't think the styling products (predominantly DevaCurl) they have in the salon work very well for my hair type. My hair looked great while wet and being cut, but once the products were applied and my hair dried, it would just frizz like crazy. I wish I could say I left feeling in love with my haircut, but the styling products ruined the experience. After my first wash at home and using my own products, the haircut and shaping looked great! But taking into consideration how much the haircut service costs, I couldn't justify returning knowing that I wouldn't leave as happy as I could be. I do appreciate these wonderful stylists for their patience and knowledge. Maybe if your hair is a different curl type than mine, you might have better luck than I did. In October 2020 after years of fighting with my daughter about her hair, brushing it and keeping it nice. I finally decided to embrace her curly/wavy hair. When I first started this process someone mentioned The Curl Whisperer to me but was quickly turned off when I saw the pricing online. Now 3 1/2 months later and easily $300 later (styling products, shampoos and tools) I finally decided to give them a try. I bought and read books on curly hair and spent a lot of money and her hair wasn't looking that great. Then two other people mentioned the salon to me and I decided to give it a shot. We made an appointment with Arianne and were blown away at the transformation that took place. Not only was my daughter's hair completely transformed but also I was given a full education on how to properly wash, style and help her hair reach its full potential. Ariane took her time to show me every single product, and how to use it. She did not push me to buy any products that day or to throw away anything I already had. Im not gonna lie... I did not have hopes high enough to warrant a 125$ hair cut but I'm SOOOO happy! I saw Ariadna and not only is she so kind but she's so knowledgeable. I've spent a few years researching CHM so I did know quite a bit but some of the techniques she taught me have completely changed the game. The first pic is how I style it myself (on a good day), then how I came to salon, how it came out, and then day three waking up hair. It's important to note I typically put my hair in a plop to sleep to protect my curls. If not my hair will literally fall straight it's wild. The hydration Ariadna gave me has prolonged my curls! It's day three waking up no refresh (didn't refresh on any other day either bc I'm LAZY) and my curls are still in tact! Ariadna was a dream to work with and even quizzed me on what I learned. It also does not feel like they're in it to sell products bc she urged me to take pictures of what she used so I could collect them myself slowly as I can afford. Super transparent with what she used which I loved bc I'm too shy to ask lol. I just happened to be there Black Friday tbh and they had a 20% off products and I bought a ton bc I went at a point where I truly didn't have any at home so I could give myself the opportunity to buy new products if I ended up liking them without fear of wasting or throwing out whatever I already had (it's more eco friendly to use up what you already have instead of throwing it out half used!) i bought 5 products and it ended up being $98 when the original price was $120. I even calculated the price of the products if I were to buy them from Ulta/salon sites and this salons price matched up so it's nice they weren't up charging! I'm really happy read more

I really really really was praying this place was going to answer my dreams of embracing my naturally curly hair after chemically straightening it for over 15 years. I spent about $200 on a Ouidad Cut which is specifically supposed to allow you to wear your hair curly but also straight. Once the cut was done, I realized I was never going to be able to do the styling that it required two people and a bunch of equipment and products and time to do. So. The cut was done and my reaction to my cut was "meh." (I used to love my natural curls back in the day and was hoping this would bring them back to that look again. Was not really excited about the way the curls looked after the styling tbh. But. After washing and trying to style my hair I realized I had made a huge mistake. My hair was now much shorter and so much more unkempt looking and wild. I tried for 3 solid weeks to work with the cut and get the curls to look decent but it just was not happening. I finally threw in the towel today and decided I would go back to chemically relaxing it after not doing this for 1.5 years to let the natural curls come back. Well my Brazilian blowout looks great. But i now saw for the first time what a horrible haircut I had received! This looks like a raccoon with a machete chopped my hair! It's embarrassing. I know it's a "curl cut" but it specifically indicated on the website and when I spoke to the stylist that it would not be obvious I'd blow dried straight. I lost so much time and money and inches of my hair and I'm just so dissatisfied. I am taking the time to write this so no one asks for Ouidad haircut and expects what I did. The stylist I saw claimed to be an expert in the Ouidad technique... she botched my hair completely and essentially gave me bangs that I didn't ask for! I have fine curly hair, and many curly stylists don't know how to cut it properly to give it lift and definition. The stylist refused to do the carve technique until I demanded it, and was dead-set on only doing the slicing portion (which looked terrible). Even after I demanded the carving, my hair looked like a mess. I demanded a refund because I was so unhappy. On a separate note, this salon is very close to my house, so when I'm in a pinch, I will occasionally run in to buy product. The front desk girls are rude, unprofessional, never say thank you, and are completely unknowledgeable about the products. When I've asked for their recommendation on products, they say they don't know, but will get a stylist to come talk to me. 10 minutes later I'm still waiting, and front desk receptionists seem taken aback that I am frustrated with this lack of customer service. This salon seems to do well with certain curl patterns, but their stylists are not truly trained in different curl textures. Bratty front desk staff, if Ulta was closer, I'd never step in here for product, but sometimes I have no choice. read more

In honest truth, I love this place, but the last time I was there my experience have me doubting if it was even worth the trip (all the way from Hollywood) and the money. They are going above and beyond with the Covid measures with is great, however, if they are going to be so strict and hike the prices accordingly to keep doing business, the service and some other rules need to loosen up a bit. It just felt like I was being punish for bad behavior or something. The products selected for my hair didn't work that well, and I paid for a deep Conditioning Masque too. Had a consultation for coloring, did not made want to comeback and do it. We are all in this together, customers are feeling the effects of this situation too. Just something to think about.
