Lorena at Via Dolce is the only person I trust my hair with. I'm the most inconsistent person to get my hair done considering I have blonde highlights, I probably get my hair done twice a year max but still have very high standards for the experience. I always used to find it stressful going to other salons and having to explain what I want and it not coming out as expected given how much coloring costs. Instead Lorena always provides her expert opinion and knows immediately what I'm looking for. Example of this would be me asking for regular highlights and her suggesting balayage since I don't come in so often, and that balayage lasted me for almost 8 months and still looked natural. The reviews for this salon are not accurate based on my experience. The haircut was fine, but overpriced. I got a "dusting" trim and it was $175 with tip. The experience itself was subpar. Both stylists with 10 AM appointments came in late after their clients were already there and waiting. The hot water didn't work during the wash. When blow drying my hair after the trim the stylist didn't ask how I parted my hair and I had to call out it out. Overall, I would not recommend this salon. Try somewhere else in the area. read more

AMAZING. I got my hair cut here by Aric a few weeks back, and it was such a great experience! I wanted a big change, so he cut about 11 inches off and it came out PERFECT! I still receive so many compliments on it--even by complete strangers telling me how my hairstyle suits my facial features. On top of just how well it turned out, everyone there was incredibly sweet to me and were so genuine. Often I will get my hair cut and I feel awkward having to small talk or be content with a hairstyle I wasn't all that wild about, but not this time. I could tell how careful and thoughtful Aric was when styling my hair, I knew I was in great hands. He also gave me the best scalp massage I'd ever have, no joke. This salon is AMAZING!! I havent visited many other salons in LA but needless to say I don't think I will be going to any other Salons except for Via Dolce. The first visit I had at Via Dolce was an updo for my company's yearly Christmas party at the magic castle. I had an appointment at another salon at 5:30 and missed it because I had to work until 6:30 that night. I called Via Dolce and they managed to fit me in for an appointment at 7PM (even though I realized after the fact they usually closed at 7PM, another major selling point, they REALLY care about their customers and making your needs work). I had an appointment with Jill who was SUPER friendly and kind. I of course in typical rushed fashion had a photo of the type of hairstyle I wanted stored on my phone but my phone died :( so I did my best to explain it to her. Jill was FANTASTIC she was super sweet and made sure that my hair was exactly what I wanted. It came out even more amazing than I had ever hope or imagined, and a few points in the hair process she would ask my opinion about how high my hair was, or how it felt on my head if it should be tighter or looser, it was a really wonderful experience :) For my most recent haircut and color I had Kristen, I was scheduled to have my appointment will Jill but unfortunately due to weather issues my flight was cancelled out of JFK and I had to reschedule. After arriving for my appointment I knew Kristen was the hairstylist for me :) I told her what I wanted---what I wanted to do was a BIG change for me, I went from having rather dirty/blonde hair in the middle of my back to a very short cut that went to my shoulders. The one thing I was concerned about was my face is shaped rather round shaped and I was worried a shorter cut would make me look even rounder, Kristen told me what cut she think would fit best based on the shape of my face, and also adjusted my part so it would be more flattering. First, she cut my hair very "roughly" before we colored it (and I put roughly in quotations because it looked REALLY good already!) and I could already see the HUGE improvement her advice on what length to cut it, and my part made on the shape of my face. Our entire appointment we talked about boys, haircuts and other awesome topics, I felt like Kristen was my big sister and I had complete faith in her. The cut was AMAZING and the color was EXACTLY what I wanted---frankly it was better than what I imagined, I'm so beyond happy. I've had the same hairdresser since I was 3 and I was devastated to have to look for a new one when she told me she was moving to Texas, I am so overjoyed to have found Via Dolce and have had the opportunity to get my hair done with Kristen and Jill. I will be reccomending this salon to EVERYONE I know :) read more

I came to this salon back in June of 2012 and had a bad experience. The stylist ignored my request and cut off way more than I had asked for. I left upset and disappointed, but didn't yelp or let the salon owner know because I thought I had no choice but to let the hair grow back. I didn't go back until yesterday. I needed a cut and am really short on time this week, and this salon is very close to our house so I decided to give it another try. Natalie was my stylist, and it turns out the stylist I didn't care for had not lasted long. I'm really glad I went back. Natalie was very personable and offered suggestions in a low-key way. She did exactly what I asked for, and my hair looks great. It's so nice to know there's a salon close by where I can get a great cut! read more

Every time I've come here I've had a great cut. It's clean, modern and the girls are awesome. Street parking is easy. I came in recently for a cut and I hadn't been notified my stylist quit. I was able to book an early appt for a cut just the day before. The receptionist, Kelly, was easy to book with over the phone and very sweet and welcoming when I arrived. I was the only one in the salon, and was promptly greeted by my stylist - Kecia Heinz. The salon itself is super bright and open, with some beautiful art as well! I explained to Kecia that I just had my hair cut a couple weeks before but it just wasn't laying right. She acknowledged that it fell flat and needed more movement and some face framing layers. She was totally lovely and easy to chat with, and has great taste in music... She also got me out of there in about an hour which I appreciated since I had to head to another appt in BH. I'm suuupppeeerrr pleased with my cut!! I can just blast it with a diffuser and my waves pop. It has more volume and shape, my bangs lay well (although she may have convinced me to grow them out), and I just don't really have to fuss with it so much to get it to DO something. She really listened to me and gave me a low-maintenance but very chic shoulder length cut. They also have a great Yelp discount for weekday appts, especially Wednesday, which is when I happened to be there. Fist of all let me say how much I love my new hair, it's very rare to connect with your stylist on mental levels. I am so indecisive and all over the place, one day I want to be blonde, one day I want an ombre... Christina is by far the best hair stylist I have ever been to! She is so talented beyond belief and I walk out every time with the biggest smile on my face. I went in with pics and photos of what I wanted for cut and color. Lorena talked to me and said what would and wouldn't work. I'm traveling for five weeks now and my hair is easy to manage and looks great no matter what I do. She also didn't push a ton of product which is nice. When it came to the actual cut/colorI will add that Lorena is fast! I can't stand sitting in a chair for hours and the entire consultation, cut, color, and blow dry we're 2.5 hrs. [Revised] This is a great example of turning a bad experience into a great one. I went here a few months ago, and it was rough. I finally got around to writing a review, expecting nothing. Sure enough, they reached out about my experience and went above and beyond to make it right. I went in and got an amazing cut & color. Lorena stripped out some nasty box dye I was using to get by, then freshened up my color & added some dimension. She also did a cut, and although this was my first cut with her, Lorena cut just the right amount and gave it a great shape. The staff was also super nice and accommodating and made me feel very comfortable. I left feeling very happy and will definitely go back. I came to Via Dolce a few months ago to correct a previous haircut/ color from another salon. And Lorena not only gave me hope to trust but gave me a beautiful color highlight and we waited to fix cut until this week. I told Brooke what I wanted, and she did exactly that with an even better addition. Via Dolce is in an awesome spot super-close to the Venice Pier in Marina del Rey. The salon and all the people working in the salon were super stylish, so I was instantly not worried about getting a great hair cut. I told Christiano I wanted to take a little length off, but otherwise, to do whatever he though looked best. The result was fantastic. My hair felt much lighter, but still looked like I had lots of length with great volume in the front. 5-stars all the way for service and style. The only reason I'm knocking it back to 3 stars was the price tag. $120 plus 20% tip for wash, cut, and dry?? I'm not from LA, so maybe this is usual, but I've definitely never spent $140 on a wash, cut and blowdry before. read more

I wish there were more stars to give Anya Anderson! She painted the most beautiful golden balayage on my curly, long, dark hair. I really do not like unnatural looking hair on myself. Every time I've had my hair lightened in the past its come out orangish/brassy or very fake looking. I was really hesitant to try going lighter again, however this time I decided to do my research and find someone who could color it really well. I had heard pretty good things about via dolce salon, although its notoriously expensive. I walked in one day to speak with a hair stylist and met Anya. I showed her my pinterest board of hair color ideas and told her about what I wanted and she was immediately confident she could achieve the color I was going for. I had a great salon experience (the salon is really small but cute and they give you champagne!!!!). Anya is adorable and pretty talkative. Her work was really incredible. She painted shiny, goldish highlights on my brown hair that were light enough to be noticeable but dark enough to look natural (sun-dyed beach hair looking). I received tons of compliments on my hair from co-workers and friends. I'll definitely be going back to her for maintenance/future color and would highly recommend her to brunettes looking to go lighter or blonde/blondish. read more

I'm not the type to be picky about who does my hair. I've always tried new places, making it a spontaneous experience each time, even abruptly pulling over my car when I saw a cute salon and felt the sudden urge to get beautified. Now that I've found Christiano at Via Dolce, I'm a loyal patron of the salon variety. Not only do I not want anyone else to cut or highlight my hair, I genuinely feel Christiano wouldn't allow it (haha)! He cares, and has taken full responsibility for my locks that have now found someone to love them! :) When I came to him through a friend's sterling recommendation, he was appalled at what the former stylist had done to my hair--as was I, it was one of the many poor selections in my salon spontaneity. Instead of milking the money out of me, he suggested I wait on cutting my hair and grow my layers to avoid further damaging the shape. So, he stuck to highlighting and then, cut my hair a month or so later, when it was ready. It was like he had a plan of attack for my hair. I'm glad someone does.
