One of my fave cupcake places in STL! Their buttercream is amazing and they have such fun varieties and flavors! I look forward to when I am in the CWE and can stop by. While the weather was overcast, there are cute tables inside to sit and relax as well as a small outside patio for better weather days. They have expanded to some items beyond cupcakes so you can find lots of sweet options!
I was staying at the AC Hotel next door and saw this sign when I pulled up thinking it was a coffee shop and decided to give it a try. To my surprise, it was another kind of cup, a cupcake. We ordered the Italian cream and the cuppa coffee cake. Let me tell you, these cupcakes are the bomb! The cake is moist and delicious and the buttercream is perfect. It's not overly sweet which I was concerned about.
Small restaurant, awesome smells, and clean environment. Cashier was super sweet, I grabbed a cupcake to share. Cupcake was nice, satisfying our sweet tooth for a reasonable price. The icing was a little firm, cake was moist.
Update - after many years, the cup is solidly still my favorite cupcake in STL! In fact, they made my wedding cake and wedding cupcakes (see pics). Over the years, they're consistently fresh and delicious. I can't think of a time I had a bad cupcake. The cup still reigns supreme!
Mmmm! Soooo good! After visiting their sister bakery, the Cakery, I decided I wanted to give this place a try. I walked in and was immediately greeted and asked if I needed help. I told them I was there to pick up a catering order of cupcakes, one cake, their double-decker cookies and two gluten free cupcakes. The person behind the counter went and retrieved my items and verified all amounts and specifics of the order were correct. After verifying everything, I was on my way. I served them at work the next day and they were a hit. Like most sweets, they didn't last past lunch (which is a good thing) and I got enough for people to try a variety. Overall, I was incredibly pleased with the service and quality of the items. My only piece of constructive criticism is offering more of a variety when it comes to their smaller sized cupcakes. While what they offer is good, it's essentially only 4 flavors, which doesn't encompass everything they have to offer. Additionally, I didn't realize the two gluten free cupcakes I got weren't the same size as the others but were instead, the largest! After now trying both places, I'd say they're unique in their own way. IMO, The Cakery focuses on more cakes and other goodies while the cup is focused on more cupcakes. Either way, you won't be disappointed no matter where you go!

My personal favorites are the strawberries and cream and red velvet but they have so many great flavors including rotating seasonal ones that you really can't go wrong. I used one of their cakes for a party and everyone loved it. They also have some gluten free choices that I have bought many times for my allergy friends and they have really enjoyed them. It is a decent sized cupcake, so the prices are pretty fair. I cannot recommend this place it enough, everyone can find a flavor they will love!

Seriously, I've tried every cupcake they offer, and I can honestly say I've never had a bad one! I recently made my way back home from Miami and, of course, I had to stop by. You can find their cupcakes at Straubs, but nothing beats visiting the store to explore all the different flavors and admire how gorgeous they look! The café itself is super cute and cozy, and the staff are always so friendly and patient while you decide what to get. It's tough to choose because everything is just so good! My go-to favorites are the Strawberry, Gold Rush, Confetti, and Tuxedo. But really, you can't go wrong with any of them--trust me, I'm definitely not a size 2 or 6! Oh, and they even have treats for our furry friends!

I can't even begin to describe the richness, freshness, and moistness of all their products. You just have to try it for yourself! They also serve lots of fun flavors, with both classic and rotating options. Confetti is my absolute favorite classic flavor, and Cookie Dough is my go-to seasonal flavor. Additionally, The Cup makes cupcakes that are safe for dogs, which my labradoodle absolutely loves. The employees are always very friendly, and I especially appreciate how patient they are with me when I'm feeling indecisive about my tough decisions! The interior of the restaurant has seating options available if you're wanting to enjoy your cupcake right away, or they are nicely boxed up if you're taking it for the road. I will always love this place!
Always a reliable place to pick up cupcakes. Service is generally quick, though it's essentially just a place to grab and go rather than to hang out and stuff your face. They have a cupcake calendar on their website, but when it's December, you can never go wrong with their Gingerbread cupcakes. They also have a Cardinals one during the summer which is pretty good. The price is about what you'd expect from a place that just serves cupcakes. I went for all limited edition cupcakes, so 4 ran me about $18. But I think it's worth it for a special occasion.

The Cup is a regular spot for us. They did our wedding desserts and will always be a household favorite. We ordered their strawberry 9" inch cake and an assortment of cupcakes for a birthday celebration this past weekend. The strawberry was a new flavor for us and did not disappoint. The only hiccup was on my order form I didn't state what color to write the message with. I was a little surprised to see bright green, but my sister loved it.
I had the pleasure to stop in during the STL Bakery Crawl. The address is a bit misleading. You are on Maryland Plaza in the CWE (Central West End) but it is the back side of Lulu Lemon. I can't say no to a delicious cupcake, and I'm so glad I checked out this local spot!! I was staying in a hotel right next door and this shop caught my eye. I decided to stop in and try a cupcake. They have lots of different flavors, including some seasonal and monthly. I tried their Valentine's Day flavor, called Ruby. The cake is a swirl of red velvet and strawberry sponge with raspberry cream cheese icing. Wow was this amazing! It was the perfect mix of chocolate and fruit and tart and sweet. I would totally get this again!! My only negative is that the cup they put single cupcakes in makes it hard to get out. Totally get it goes with their brand but the icing sort of gets messed up when taking it out. Other than that, perfection! read more
I absolutely love The Cup for their homemade dog treats. They are fresh, made with limited ingredients and perfectly soft which is perfect for older fur-babies. The Cup also has amazingly delicious moist cupcakes for humans. I love the creativity each year behind the April Fool's cupcakes. They do an OUTSTANDING job on those creations!!! They offer a plethora of cupcake options to choose from, something for everyone definitely. They also rotate flavors and keep the staples. Cute little cupcake shop located in the Central West End, friendly employees. Parking can be tricky.......it's the CWE. read more

I went here back in October and it was a welcoming spot. I actually didn't even know it was in the area because it's tucked away in a little alley. The cupcake was very good. The frosting is really what made it for me I think. It was very good and the right amount to where even though it was rich, I didn't feel sick afterward. The cake part itself seemed a little dry to me though. I'm not sure if it was just sitting out a while or if maybe thats the way they typically are since they are on the cakier side. They also have tons of fun flavors including a fair amount of seasonal options. read more

Great cupcakes! While traveling, we always like to try out gourmet cupcakes in the region, and I'm so glad we didn't pass this up! Love that they have gluten free/other food allergen options. Gourmet cupcakes are usually $3 a pop, and these are no exception, but they are super large which is great! Variety of flavors; I really liked the orange one and the blueberry cheesecake one. If I'm ever in St. Louis again, I'd be sure to hit this place up! read more
Holy Yum, these are wonderful cupcakes!!! Way back in 2019, I had a dozen cupcakes delivered to the WashU dorms for my daughter's bday. Since then, I have intended to stop in so I could taste them, too. Today was *finally* the day!! There are options to order for pick up, but we just stopped in. A sign on the door informs that no more than 3 guests can be inside at one time. The store was empty when we arrived, so it was no problem. I don't know how crowded it get for drop in orders. Anyhow, we chose several flavors: Red Velvet (2) Tuxedo Monster (our fave today) Mummy Cuppa Coffee Cake Strawberries & Cream (2) Pumpkin Harvest A few hours later, after an afternoon of sight-seeing, we were ready for our cupcakes (well, at least some of them). We divvied up little bites so we could each sample more flavors. The mint-chip flavored monster cupcake was each of our favorite today. When I cut into it, I immediately smelled an enticing burst of mint. The red velvet- also divine. These cupcakes are moist, substantial, beautifully artful, and most importantly - delicious. I can't imagine any flavor they create will be anything short of scrumptious. Highly recommend! read more

I'm in town on vacation and wanted a cupcake. I looked online and decided to get a cupcake and a sugar cookie but when I got inside I saw how big the cupcakes were! (I got both anyway lol) and was immediately impressed. Usually the frosting is the best part of the cupcake for me, but the actual cake part of this cupcake was the best I've ever had! It was moist and the flavor was delicious!!! The worker at the front was very nice and service was fast. read more
First time at the cup based on a recommendation. They have a varied selection of cupcakes, cookies, and coffee. I got six different flavors for my friends and I. My friends really enjoyed the Strawberry and creme, and their pumpkin flavored cupcakwd. I had the s'more, and it was pretty good, it was moist, it had the the crackers, marshmallow icing, and a center of melted chocolate. The staff was really patient with me being undecisive and gave me recommendations. read more
Had a craving for some cupcakes so I decided to stop by The Cup. I hadn't been there in many years and I honestly didn't remember a thing about it but I live so close I thought why not? They were good but not great. I was excited about the Raspberry Beret expecting it to have real fruit filling but unfortunately it was just like a jelly filled donut. Still fine but there are better cupcakes. The Red Velvet was good but a bit chemical tasting? The cupcakes were super moist so I'll give them points for that but I would probably try another place next time. read more
Best. Cupcake. Ever! I admit, I have only eaten their strawberry cupcake (more than once), but I have a hard time tearing myself away from it and trying something else since it is so incredibly good. Wait, now that I think about it, The Cup had some of their goodies at an event I attended, and I had the yellow cake with white icing, which was also excellent. The cake is very moist and tender, but with some good substance, so it's not like you're eating airy nothingness. The icing is what excites me more than anything, as it is light and fluffy and surely full of fat and sugar, but not thick and heavy like at......some places. I don't normally journey into The Central West End because of the lack of parking and too many people and too many cars, but I braved it today. I found out it isn't quite as irritating as I imagined and the trade-off, a phenomenal cupcake, is well worth it! read more

I literally have no reason to go anywhere else for a cupcake. Or any sweets for that matter. I always run into the same issue with most places. The cake is too dry! While the icing is very sweet, I think it's supposed to be. It's icing! But the cake is so soft and moist. It's even good after a day or so and the gooey butter cake is delectable. I absolutely LOVE the original vanilla and sprinkles. The red velvet is also amazing. You can't go wrong with this cupcake spot! read more

This place is a hidden gem, literally. Tucked on a side street near some construction at the moment, I wish more people knew how great this place was. Quality, moist cupcakes and a great flavor variety. Staff were super nice and helpful in explaining flavors and favorites. Carrot cake was exceptional and my personal favorite :) it was boiling hot outside and we ate at the fountain around the block. Only wish there was some seating inside, which seems currently closed. In any case, I'll be back for my sugar coma fix. I'm a junkie. read more
