Love it here. I've been here a few times. I love their coffee and their pastries. I've also tried their mochas. This is a cute coffee shop with great vibes. There are couches and chairs inside where you can sit and relax. The staff are friendly and helpful here. I love coming here. I'll definitely be back again soon.

What a cool place for a coffee shop! Located right next to Palace Theater on James St, this coffee shop has tons to offer. This is the perfect place to meet up with friends, get some work done or relax with a warm cup of coffee on a cold day. Staff were so friendly and accommodating to specific needs. The vibes in here are super friendly and warm. There's so many yummy food choices as well, from pastries to macarons to soup and sandwiches and more! I can't believe this was only my first visit and I can't wait to come back!

The Cracked Bean Roastery is one of my favorite coffee shops in East Syracuse. The ambience is nice and cozy and perfect for going with a friend or for solo trips with a good book. My favorite part is the service - they are always willing to go the extra mile to help you decide what coffee to get. I love how many options for flavors this coffee shop has - the possibilities are pretty much endless.

I forgot to leave this review when I visited Syracuse and had a great croissant with chocolate and coffee at this place. It is a cute place that seems to be a space that used to be a small theater. And as the name suggests, they seem to have cracked the secret to a great croissant and coffee. The croissant was so flaky and delicious, and the coffee was just perfect. The service was quick and the people very friendly. Highly recommend if you are in the area!

So excited this spot is officially open! I used to come by The Palace Cafe from time to time, but it closed during the pandemic. When I entered the new shop, the vibe was the same as the old cafe-- regulars chatting away, using the shop like a watering hole. More of a sense of community here than other shops where everyone's off in their own worlds working on projects or just stopping in with a friend. This is the kind of place where the barista (already!) knows the regulars by name. Seems like they're still settling in. There were felt menu boards on the wall but half of them were blank. I felt a little overwhelmed because it's been almost a year since I visited a coffee shop spontaneously just to hang out, and my mind spaced on what I wanted to order. I wound up choosing an almond-milk mocha. I also got a cinnamon breakfast roll, courtesy of Scratch Bakehouse. The barista and I conspired over the pastry-- she said she really enjoys them, and I can see why. The roll was sweet and delightful. If you want to enjoy a roll without gobs of icing, this is a great compromise. There is a good selection of other baked goods to choose from. The coffee was made well too. I sat at an outside table to enjoy my breakfast. Full disclosure, James Street does not offer the most serene scenery (for instance, you're likely to be serenaded by at least one car blasting their speakers full volume at the stoplight.) However, it was still so nice to be able to sit outside in the sunshine and relax. The decor inside the cafe is quite lovely too. They have an electric fireplace and a more modern design. Will swing by again! Excited to see how this place develops.

Great coffee but it's addictive As you'd suspect by its name they roast the beans and you can buy them there as well 1 visit with the tweenager and I've got to them them every weekend Great macrons, Croissants, cappuccino with many flavors, couch to relax on Meters outside are no longer used so parking is free A must visit for coffee lovers

Ham & Cheese Croissant (8/10) & London Fog Latte (10/10); both items hit the spot but that latte was to die for!

Finally got a chance to stop by after living nearby for 3 years and I can safely say this will be a regular cafe for me now! It's the perfect space to get some work done. Music isn't too loud, people are quiet, and there's a few different seating options. The food & drinks are just as good. If you are a tea drinker I have to recommend the London Fog Latte. I was in heaven drinking it! I was eyeing their macarons and might be snagging a few the next time I come in...

This is a nice place. Clean, good coffee, nice baked goods, good atmosphere. A lot of coffee places have stopped wanting you to sit and chat. This still does that. We need places like this so please join me in supporting them. You will be pleased. It's in the Palace Theatre building. See you there.

Just realized I never wrote a review after coming here, but better late than never. My first experience here was ordering from uber eats and I was so impressed. I then came in person to study here and it was such a cozy environment. Their lattes are delicious and I absolutely love their croissants. Definitely more of a treat yourself place as it's a little pricier, but great vibes overall.

Kindest Employees. Perfect Carmel macchiato and Ham and Cheese Croissant. Great music. Everything about this place is perfect. Hoping they can grow and have more locations soon. I am OBSESSED

Whoopie pie. The barista said it was delectable. She was correct!

It was 93 degrees out and I was thirsty! I hopped on Yelp, and, it being Pride month, found that they had a list of businesses that were "open to all." I decided to give it a click and see what popped up. Ender The Cracked Bean Roastery, which looked like a lovely little spot, and happened to be about a block from Walgreen's, which was an unexpected convenience for me, as I had to go there anyway. The cafe itself was spacious and clean. It looked like a nice, comfortable place to hang out. The barista was really kind and friendly, making sure both I and the person in line in front of me felt taken care of. I noticed their specials, on their lovely digital menu boards. One of them was a "lavender cloud latte-" lavender, vanilla, and white chocolate. Yes, please! I ordered mine iced. I am happy to say that it was delicious, and a lovely balance of sweet, but not overly sweet. Barely any of it made it back to my house- I'd drunk almost the entire thing down. I, uh, I kinda want to go right back for a second one. I was also feeling pretty peckish, so I asked what was good. The barista pointed out a number of things, but they mentioned, specifically, that the whoopie pie was "delectable." Look, the people who work at a place know what it's about- always a good idea to take their recommendations. Whoopie pies are a new phenomenon to me, not having grown up around here, but I was assured that they weren't horrendously sweet. Chocolate cake, oreo buttercream, and chocolate ganache. They were correct- it was delectable. I'm for sure going to stop by here again. They have a soup of the day, which I think would be lovely to try on a cooler day. Their cheesecakes and cookies looked good, too! Thank you, Cracked Bean, for letting people know that you are safe and open to everybody. It may seem like a little thing, but for some people, its everything.

Easy to read display of the menu and a great presentation of the fresh pastries that they offer.

Overall, I enjoyed my visit. The vibe was relaxed and low-key, making it a good place to sit down and get some work done. I spent some time working while I was there and appreciated having a space where I could focus without feeling rushed. The staff was pleasant, and one of the employees was kind enough to take a picture for me when I asked, which I appreciated. The only thing that stood out to me was that there wasn't much of a greeting or acknowledgment when I walked in, but it wasn't a huge issue. The seating was okay. The chair I chose wasn't the most comfortable for an extended stay, but it got the job done. There was also some rock music playing during my visit, which helped create a casual atmosphere. I didn't order any coffee or food this time around, so I can't speak to the menu yet. This visit was more about finding a place to work and unwind for a bit. Would I come back? Yes. While I'm still searching for my go-to coffee lounge in Syracuse, Recess is definitely a spot I'd visit again. It has a chill, unpretentious vibe that makes it easy to settle in and spend some time there. I forgot to take more pictures will do when I go back.

They were so friendly and helpful and gave great recommendations. I got a banana bread latte and a yuzu silk matcha - both delicious! The banana bread latte was one of the best I've had. The yuzu silk matcha was also very nice - smooth with a citrusy finish from the yuzu. Neither the matcha flavor nor the yuzu flavor were overpowering - very balanced.
