There is a large seating area nearby which is nice, and they offer many different cafe drinks as well as some food items. The service was good, a little slow but not unusual for a coffee shop. I like that they make their own syrups for the drinks and have unique options. I got the cereal milk latte, and the coffee was pretty good but lacking in flavor a little. The creekside matcha was decent, good color, not overly sweet. It lacked a little of the oomph I look for in a good matcha, it was a little light on flavor. One of the best spots to work remotely in Syracuse, for sure! Brought my laptop. Came early in the morning and it was super easy to get a table. Also worth noting, there seemed to be an outlet at every table, boosting the "work or study spot" vibe. Also a great spot to meet friends for a cuppa. It's rare that a cafe strikes both of those atmospheres so perfectly - social and work-friendly. The cafe itself is extremely cozy and charming, located in a converted house. There are a few tables outside on the porch and when I left some folks were enjoying the sunshine. (Note that around lunchtime it did start to get a bit more crowded and a little louder, which is understandable given how great a spot it is.) HUGE bathroom, very clean. The coffee is amazing. I got an Iced Lavender Berry Latte, and it was very well-made and refreshing. They're known for their cereal milk lattes, and their cold brew is also fantastic. Honestly, I have no fear of trying anything on the menu because I know whatever I get will be quite nice. The baristas were also very friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable. Honestly, this place is the whole package. A wonderful experience on every level. Aesthetic, relaxing, tasty, energizing - just a delight. Locally roasted, consistently good coffee, which is surprisingly hard to find. Not only is each location of Salt City Coffee charming, the staff are exactly as helpful and friendly as needed, without making one feel that they have to be "on" when they step up to the counter. There are enough fun and playful drinks on the menu board that it's clear they don't take their coffee too seriously while consistently producing great cups and amazing beans to take home. There are gluten-free pastries for those who need or desire them - the cider donut is so good! - and other menu items for those who have fewer restrictions. The parking lot in the back has a one-way path in and out that isn't well defined if you haven't been here before. Come in near the cute building and leave out the back of the parking lot - the charming converted house is squeezed in-between a few other things. If you want a pour-over, these folks can set you up. If you'd rather a quad-shot latte, that's also a go-to for me. For those who would like something a little sweeter, there seems to always be a cereal milk option available. No matter how you take your coffee, stop in here and take home a bag of the Syracuse blend. read more

Somehow, someway, I had never heard of Salt City Coffee before Monday. I had a business meeting here and was pleasantly surprised. Not only was this coffee shop aesthetically beautiful, but it was also very calm and peaceful. After my meeting, I was a bit hungry, so I decided to order something from their food menu since I am not a coffee drinker. I decided on the bacon, egg & cheese bagel as well as their sausage, egg & cheese bagel for my spouse. After ordering the sandwiches, I glanced in their baked goods case and could not leave without trying their sea salted brownie. The bagel sandwiches were both very tasty. If I had one suggestion, it would be to add a bit more bacon to their bacon, egg & cheese bagel. For me, their sea salted brownie stole the show (which did not make it to the camera phase. It was that delicious) I can see myself finding any and every reason to make my way there just for one of their brownies! This is a cute cafe with a comfortable casual atmosphere! They have so many books you can read while you eat! The service was exceptional! Though it was bustling with collage students it didn't feel cramped and the two workers were able to get drinks and food out quickly and effeciently. I tried a honey lavender donut and an everything bagel breakfast sandwich with bacon, egg, cheese, and siracha mayo. The food was just ok, the siracha mayo was very tasty and I enjoyed the flavor of the honey lavender donut, but it was very grainy and the dried lavender flowers on top of the donut was a bit much. read more

I've been going to Salt City for about a year now, but it's always been the university location. I was blown away by how different this location is!! I love the ambiance much more, as it's super cozy and chill. As always, the coffee and food is great, but I think this location does even more than what university does! Great coffee spot on the west side. Don't be detoured by the location. The shop is very cozy and nice. Perfect to study or meet a friend. I'm glad they brought this to the area. The service is always incredibly great, the drinks are always stellar, and the atmosphere truly cannot be beat. What makes Salt City the best in my eyes: homemade syrups and an everchanging menu. I get sick of the same flavors being used shop-to-shop but at salt city, not only do they update the menu often, but they include house-made syrups and ingredients! A coffee shop after my own heart :,) For me, this makes drinks not sit so heavy in my stomach after drinking them. You can tell the baristas are creative and care about the craft , and that is EVERYTHING when it comes to a coffee house. I had the Cuselandia iced with oat milk, which was delicious and a cinnamon raisin bagel with cream cheese with was also great. I gave it 4 instead of 5 just because it is pricey and even though it wasn't busy, it did take a good 10 minutes for our food and drink to be ready. I have been to Salt City Coffee a few times now and am becoming quite a fan. I've had a cappuccino, drip coffees, an Apple Student Latte, and the Monk Blend tea. I highly recommend the house coffee for drip and the seasonal Apple Strudel Latter. The latte was sweet but wow--amazing! Everything I want in a seasonal latter. Much better than PSL in my opinion. The drip coffee is great as well. Another cafe holds my go to espresso roast; but, Salt Citys house roast has become my go to for drip. So good! I tried the Monk Blend tea as well...not a huge tea gal but this one smelled of orange creamsavers and was very drinkable, not overpowering. The baristas have been so friendly as well. The coffee here is high quality. The pastry I got, which had squash and ricotta, was the quintessential Autumnal savory treat. The pasty fought itself was flavorful and flaky, the cheese, squash, and black pepper married perfectly, and the pumpkin seeds added the perfect crunch. Staff was quite friendly, and the space is lovely and welcoming as well. I'll certainly be back! I give this place a 7/10. I think there were just some minor details about this place which disappointed; yet, they wouldn't discourage me from coming back. In fact, I would like to give Salt City Coffee another chance. I believe they have some tasty coffee options fit for hipsters, pretentious coffee snobs, and people who are simply looking for a break from Starbucks. I ordered the CuseLandia. This was listed on a separate board featuring about two or three other drinks, one of which was a salted Carmel latte, I believe. After asking the cashier what the CuseLandia was, he informed me that it is a half cold brew, half milk with salt and possibly caramel (can't remember) shaken and poured over ice. Okay, so that sounded absolutely freaking delicious, and I obviously ordered it. The CuseLandia was a bit weak for my personal taste and I don't think that it was anything that I would reorder. If you're not a super big coffee drinker, I might recommend this, because it's not strong and it's quite milky and sweet, with a touch of salt flavor. I also got the plain bagel with scallion-bacon cream cheese. The bagel took 30 (thirty!) minutes to come out and that was only because I had actually asked one of the employees about it. My server/cashier had forgotten. Which was a little surprising seeing as they were slow. I'm sure it doesn't happen often, but just a little frustrating. It was fine in the end. Obviously, if you're in a rush, kindly say something before waiting 30 minutes. Also, side note, always be gracious and forgiving to your waiters/the employees/chefs/cashiers. Just be a decent person, you're not going to die if you have to wait longer and there are people who don't have the luxury of going out. Appreciate everything. The bagel was perfectly toasted, a tiny bit too much cream cheese, but no problem. I think they make their own bagels, or purchase locally homemade bagels. They make their own cream cheese! Winner. Decor was pleasant, spacious, open. I liked the feel of this coffee shop, and I can feel myself coming here to do school work or to write or to read. I travel to Syracuse every 2 weeks for work and every time I'm here I have to stop into this place. Always friendly, great coffee and great breakfast sandwiches. I like how they have pay it forward with a coffee or bagel for people who cannot afford it. I always try to remember and get a bagel for someone. I definitely recommend it and work from here often.
