Actually haven't been here in so long and I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the Christopher hot (vanilla, brown sugar latte) and absolutely loved it. I love Cafe Kubal and this is my favorite location (RIP Marshall Street Kubal). This specific location has big windows and lots of tables and booths for doing work at (unsure what procedures are for Covid because the photo was from almost two years ago). My favorite things from Kubal are their iced mochas and their bagels with flavored cream cheeses. Somewhat expensive but good quality! There are a few locations and all are excellent. Overall, one of my favorite local coffee shops in Syracuse (and there are a lot of good ones!) and I miss having one conveniently on Marshall street! read more

This is a great location. Sadly, the service was just okay. In both instances, the service was slow. We ordered drinks and breakfast. It seems like the location is staffed at 8:30 a.m. so that they can do one or the other, but not both. On March 7, our food order was mixed up a bit and two of the people in my party received their drinks after we had received our food. I like the food and coffee, as well as the ambiance of this location. I think, though, its needs better staffing. I can understand that management likely doesn't want to fully staff for the 8:30 rush (yes, there was a line) and then have too many people on hand for the mid-morning slow-down (this is my guess), but you are doing those who come early for coffee and breakfast a disservice, including people who may be deciding whether to invest in Syracuse. read more

Syracuse 2021...its half cheap vodka in a paper bag depressing (a lot of dingy vacant buildings) ...yet there is a lot of apartment development amidst the shuttered storefronts (probably to cater to the Long Island brats whose parents are funding their 4 year camp at SU...). Amidst this is Cafe Kubal....which is a fine local coffee shop. I've been to the James St. locale a few years ago, and this one is a little more charming (James St. as an Avenue is generally a basket case outside of a great bookstore and the James St. theatre..). Iced coffee is 3.50...a little high but good beans and their almond scones are quite good too. Easy hike from the Marriott in Armory Square...which at night can be a delightful boozy magnet. read more
