This is a review of The Crab Shack on the Promenade in north Long Beach. Went in to this restaurant (early April 2022) to get a replacement order that was previously not prepared to our satisfaction at the Broadway location in Long Beach. The host server, Ky, pleasantly greeted us, listened to the history of our dissatisfaction with our repeat orders at the Broadway location of Garlic Shrimp Rice, and after seeing an online offer by the owner to replace our previous order, prepared the dish as requested. Thank you to the owner for making this right, as we really like this dish when prepared as requested (with no sausage). Found the Promenade restaurant staff to be calm and friendly, unlike our numerous experiences at the Broadway location A four-star experience and we will be back to the Promenade location. read more

So first of all let me say I'm a seafood fan but I don't like to get my hands messy. Not the ideal place to come but there I was. The food came in a saucy bag, not the best presentation, but it smelled good so I figured I'd dig in. Luckily our waiter brought some thin, plastic gloves and bibs for the self-conscious eaters. Loved it! Food was great. Live crawfish which my fiancé loved. Almost as good as Hot and Juicy (fiancés review)... I'm not a fan of Hot an Juicy (too much garlic). Clam chowder was good, not the best I've ever had but still good. Cajun fried were crispy just the way I like. Crab bag was pretty delicious. We'll be back for sure! Service here is fast. You order and you're food is out in a timely matter. They were pretty busy on a Thursday night. The shrimp was tasty and one of the better locations in Carson for this type of food. The sweet potatoes fries were delicious and crispy. I was pretty full before coming here so I was having a hard time eating but I know I'll be back to order more. read more

The Crab Shack replaced another shrimp spot in the plaza with Hiccups and the new Churroholic. I've been to the one in Gardena and when I went to that one when they first opened I was a tad bit disappointed with their mushy shrimp. When I returned again after they were open for awhile it was cooked perfectly. Sadly same situation again. They haven't been open for too long again and mannnn majority of my shrimp was mushy again. Unfortunately, the texture ruins it for me causing this mediocre rating. Everything else is was good. The corn is good and before I've had it at the Gardena location and it was mushy too. Sausages, good. Sauce, the medium definitely had a kick. They even have fries, clams, oysters and definitely try their fruity booty. What broke the deal is that the shrimp was mushy. Another bummer is parking. Hard to find especially during peak times. read more

I hear about boiling crab being better on the reviews which may be true, but this place has always been consistent. It always has good quality seafood. Some places have crawfish with bad innards, but this place always has crawfish with that good yellow insides. Will continue to keep coming back. read more

In one word: meh. My boyfriend and I went to give it a try and we got 1lb of shrimp for $13.50 (does anyone else remember the good old days when Boiling Crab had shrimp for $9.99????- unheard of these days), cajun fries, and pan roast with noodles. We are the biggest fan of Oyster Bar's pan roast (located in Vegas, NV) so we wanted to give it a try. I was doubtful though because when I asked the waitress if it was good, she hesitated. lol. omg. why did we order it after that. hahahha The shrimp was good, not bad flavoring and not overcooked. The fries were meh. Very overpriced and a little stale though. Crawfish corner had fries for like half the price that The Crab Shack as it for.... The pan roast. omg. it was super light like soup. Pan roast is supposed to be more thick kind of of like a thick chowder.. with chunks of seafood.. but nope. This was more like a thin soup with fettuccine noodles. lol. Sept 3 '22 Saturday 2 pm keep calling the phone keep going to full voice-mail so disapointed because wanted just to come by and pick up so thought the restaurant really busy but when I got there 5 girls working at front just standing and chatting. Let me start off by saying I usually don't come to this location it was my first time. The sauce was so watery. On top of that they barely gave me ANY sauce. When I told the server that I barely had any sauce in my bag he said he could give me some more but would have to charge me. read more

Only giving 2 stars because the food was really good but the service was terrible! The first waiter just walked up to the table and said "drinks?" Didn't even introduce him self. He never came back to check on us. 15 minutes later some one else walks up to our table and takes our order. After we got our food not once did the waiters check on us. And very unprofessional that a waiter that was still on the clock was eating off of the guests from the table next to us maybe it was his family or who know but como on. No attention to my table. Place is terrible. Was trying to call to place an order for pick up on a Monday since they were not available for online order but no answer after calling a good 7-10 times so instead drove out to the location to only see that the staff was just standing around while talking. I get if your busy and therefore couldn't answer any calls but in this case, upon arrival it was quiet and clean as if no one ever came to dine in. This is unacceptable whatsoever. Street parking was ok but I believe they have lot parking behind the building. Oysters tasted fresh and they were huge. The garlic noodles were okay, would skip next time. This place is absolutely amazing! The food is delicious and the staff really made my night. Deleina, Jennifer, and Kevin are amazing and really went out of their way to make my birthday special. They have a bar and drinks are wine based but we're so worth it. I will definitely go back the food was so good that we took some Togo. Finally, my husband and I came and tried this new place. It might not be new for some but he had taken me here before it was this place and I had really enjoyed it. We were iffy about it because we tried so many places from redondo beach to Torrance etc... trying to substitute the place that was once here and were always left disappointed. Man oh man were we wrong for waiting! This is by far the best place I've ever eaten Cajun. We made a mess but enjoyed every bite of mussels shrimp corn sausage and potatoes. Ive read some reviews that are upset about the pricing but how in the world can you be mad about paying for bomb food? The only time we get upset about paying for anything is when we feel we get robbed for paying for nasty tasteless food that is not only bland but leaves us still hungry.
