First visit for us last week. Made a reservation and we were seated at a comfy booth inside. Our server was fantastic. Very knowledgeable about the menu, so pleasant. To start we shared the baba ganoush and special cheese of the evening which was a Brie-like cheese from Grey Barn. The baba ganoush was creamy and flavorful and served with a generous side of homemade grilled pita and the cheese with an apricot jam and honey-drizzled crostini. Could've used a couple more pieces of crostini but overall it was delicious! For entrees we shared the kale salad, pesto pasta and Cuban sandwich (special of the evening). All super fresh! The homemade pasta included the sweetest tomatoes and the pesto was really yummy. Cuban was everything you'd expect: homemade baguette, pickles, cheese, mustard and mayo, served with a side of greens. And the kale salad was clean and fresh with mushrooms and cheese. We managed to grab an outdoor table on a cool September Saturday night even though reservations weren't available. There were outdoor heating lamps and plenty of space and greenery between the tables. The servers were attentive and the menu fun! We had a great meal. My negroni was tasty and the big square ice cube did its job admirably. The mojito had plenty of mint, but not sure what type of white rum they used... but it was white rum. Although we're not vegetarian, we try to eat vegetables with every meal. The menu has great options for starters, sides and mains that include plenty of veg. You won't be disappointed by the food, drinks, atmosphere, or service at Covington. I look forward to visiting every year and have been a customer since they first opened. I have never been disappointed. They have a squid ink pasta dish on their menu that is crazy good and I literally have cravings for. The crudo is also a must-have. Obviously, they aren't able to open as usual this year so we opted for their take away options last week. The food was great and they were extremely friendly when we arrived for our no-contact pickup. They also had some fun music playing outside which was a nice touch. You can tell they are taking the proper precautions to keep their staff and customers safe and healthy while still providing great service. We will continue to use their take away service this summer and look forward to being regular customers in their restaurant again in the future. Thank you, Covington! read more

Sister restaurant of Porthouse across the street. Creative drinklist that is well-executed. Must do the panzanella salad to experience island-grown produce. The peas are exceptional. Halibut special was a tad overdone and lost some of its terrific moistness. Tuna entree is well-conceived, although it could do with a bit less ruffage. Had an early reservation in late June. They sat us outside, on the side covered porch. Not the most comfortable chair but it worked fine. Our server was delightful, described entrees in detail and noted my gluten allergy very thoroughly. You could tell each item was rung with celiac and gluten allergy as it was noted on our check. Almost every item on the menu could be customized to be gluten free. We had the cheese plate, smoked beets, farm salad, and the bolognese (with GF pasta!). The pasta dish was the standout. The smoked beets were very flavorful but definitely not an attractive dish. The cheese plate had a raw cheese from Grey Barn and it was delicious. If you have a food allergy I would definitely recommend coming here. The staff is very knowledgeable on allergies and the menu is well labeled. read more

OH. MY. GOD!! The rose water cocktail and the crudo here have made it to the top of my favorite foods EVER!! The crudo melts in your mouth. We ordered just one between four girlfriends and should have ordered two. We devoured that dish like it was the last one on earth. So refreshing to have a chef who really cares to excel...in creating a fresh, creative, richly flavorful cuisine. Mr. Said takes a miraculous spin on a cucumber appetizer, right along to one of the most tender and interesting kale salads to the best halibut dish I've ever had. I am a sucker for craft cocktails but the two times we were there this month, the flavors were not balanced or complementary to my palate. Outstanding dinner with great service. We 6 sat around the side in a private pleasant setting. All courses were superb, starti delicious spicy marinated cucumbers, large slices with the right bite. The bread was crunchy on the outside and tender inside. I had had so much fish on the island that I went with the Bolonese, which was well flavored and very hot (not Luke warm, as it can be elsewhere. Finally! A fine dining experience that accommodates vegans on Martha's Vineyard. My mushroom ragu that was prepared vegan was exceptional. So much flavor and not one animal was harmed to prepare my meal. The bread we ordered was piping hot. I ended up biting my tongue cause I was eating with so much excitement. Came to sit at the bar and have food. My husband and I were greeted by the bartender, given menus and waters. About 5 minutes later we were approached by a snobby hostess who told us we had to get up because bar seats are reserved. The bartender was apologetic and looked confused. If you look on their resy system, reserving bar seats isn't even an option so unclear why we were not allowed to sit there. read more

We were seated out side, and out waitress was super friendly and informative with any questions in regard to the menu. It's no longer on the menu, as summer is coming to an end and I was there about a month ago. My friend and I both got this lobster pasta dish. My goodness - it was delicious. I should've written a review sooner because I can't remember what exactly the ingredients were - but the sauce was wonderful and the lobster melted in your mouth. This is a really high-end restaurant that resembles what fine dining should be like. There is excellent atmosphere, service, and the food is also amazing! I got the steak for two, which was a T-bone cut in half, as well as the tuna tartare. Both dishes were excellent! The tuna tartare was so good in all aspects. The quality was outstanding as well as the freshness. The quality in fish matters so much because if it's good quality, it has a lot of natural flavors. I liked that they seasoned it lightly, so you could still taste the natural flavor. The T-bone steak was also really good. I liked that they kept the bone in because the bone gives the meat more flavor. I also liked how the steak had a little bit of a crust on the edges to give it a little bit more texture. Overall, I had a really good experience eating dinner at the Covington. We ordered 3 appetizers for the table including the cheeses, smoked beets and the squash and beans. Honestly, they were one of the highlights of the meal! I would highly recommend them as well as the honey pie we shared for dessert- absolutely delicious! Unfortunately I can't say the same for the pastas. My husband had the pesto and there was way too much sauce, the pasta was drowning in it! I ordered the bolognese and there was barely any meat in it at all. For the price, I shouldn't have to search for the meat. Next time, I would just go for appetizers, but skip the main dish. read more

We came here on Sunday night - understandably it can get busy, but this doesn't give excuse to the following. 1) Extremely long wait for food: We waited for close to 40 minutes for our entrees, with no apologies/ explanations/ attention given to us while we wait. 2) Inattentive service: waitress didn't notice when our water was out and took a really long time to bring in a new one even after we pointed it out. 3) Food was mediocre and cold upon arrival: we ordered a crosini, a squid ink pasta, a lobster pasta, and a sea bass. The food was mediocre at best and was not at its optimal temperature upon arrival. In the end, we were so eager to get out of the restaurant we didn't even order dessert. Definitely don't recommend this place. We had dinner at Garde East the night before and it was phenomenal - it's in Vineyard Haven rather than Edgartown but worth the drive for much better food, ambiance, and service. read more

Let me just say don't believe the hype. The best parts were our waiter and the wine. The rest was disappointing. I had the pasta special and the portion was small. The pulled lamb that came with it was literally barely visible. We opted to get dessert at one of the nearby ice cream parlors because the dessert options weren't interesting.
