We had a great time here today, on our first visit. The Mexican deviled eggs were delicious, bread was great we had the pork ribs and 2nd cut brisket, very tasty, also loved the potato salad. It was February 2015. I visited the first County Line on the Riverwalk in San Antonio. I had a special dinner with the management team of a company I invested in. 18 months later, the investment paid off with a 4X return. So not only did I feel good about the investment, but I also felt a special connection to the County Line restaurant. Since I moved to Austin, Texas, in April 2021, I have been delighted to come across County Line on Bee Cave and have been there so many times. I took numerous guests from outside to this County Line to share a barbecue experience and extend the Texan hospitality. However, my positive feelings changed today (Friday, Oct 18, 2024) after spending a long time talking to the restaurant managers (first a woman and then a man) as I tried to make a last-minute reservation. (It was a short notice that my guest would be in town and could meet for dinner tonight as he would leave the next morning.) I was told the County Line managers: 1. They stopped taking reservations. 2. There are still more tables than the total number of seats booked for the existing reservation. I understand 100% that restaurants get so busy on Fridays and weekends. Usually, I will try my luck elsewhere. But because tonight I am going to host someone from out of town who is a very special guest, I tried to persuade the County Line manager to accommodate my needs. A reservation with a no-show costs the restaurant business. It's bad. So I told the restaurant manager I would commit to an on-time show at 7 pm. Moreover, the number of seats already booked for the existing reservation is still less than the total number of seats in the restaurant. There should be no harm to other guests by providing a reservation for table 2 to a loyal customer. However, the manager insisted that I try my luck with the waitlist. Finally, I gave up. I thanked the manager and hung up. Since the County Line isn't interested in accommodating a loyal customer, I will go somewhere else. My friends and I ate at the County Line on the lake. The atmosphere and service is always great but the quality of the food is definitely not as good. The potato salad was too lumpy and overall its just not as good as it used to be. Such a disappointment. read more

This restaurant is located on the top of a hill that overlooks the valley and some town (forgive me, I'm from out of town so I don't know this area well). The interior has a rustic BBQ restaurant vibe. The smell of smoked BBQ meats got me ready to devour some delicious central Texas BBQ. The staff here are amazing. They would get 6 stars if I could. So friendly and patient as this was the first time I've come to this restaurant. Our server, Jazz, recommended the sweet bread as an appetizer. She was spot on. Smeared some honey butter on top and it was warm and delicious! I got the two meat combo dinner. 2nd cut brisket and sausage with a side of green beans (as recommended by Jazz) and beans. Jazz was spot on as the green beans had some real good flavor and even some kick! The beans were decent. I'd say the meats were ok. Seemed like the brisket was about average. I've had central Texas style brisket that had more smoke flavor and this was just ok. Same for the sausage. I had to dip both of the meats in the provided BBQ sauce which made it taste much better. Overall, the food is about a 3.5. The staff and location are 5. So overall this place gets a 4. read more

Arrived with my husband and 90 year old parents at 1:15p. Server was polite and took our drink order right away, but did not take our food order for another 20 mins. He and several other wait staff were hanging out behind the cash register on their phones. The meats were fine- large portions. The salads were overdressed and I left half of it because the lettuce was brown and wilted. There is a tired " How to talk Texan " tape running in the bathroom- it's been in place for years. I recently visited County line and was excited to try the Carolina ribs since they didn't have baby back ribs. On the positive side the atmosphere was fantastic. The drinks were well-made. The service was prompt and the side dishes were great. It would be too good to be true if I could say the same about the ribs. I expected meaty juicy tender fall off the bone ribs instead of dry chewy crusty ribs. I have never had Carolina ribs. Can't say I will ever order them again. I have loved County Line for decades, but the food quality has dropped steeply. I don't even want to go there anymore. We had lunch on the hill on Friday, 10/24/25. It was frankly terrible. My fried okra was so hard and over-done that I couldn't even get my fork to pierce it. The pulled pork was full of some kind of mustard sauce and there was no flavor resembling pork. The waiter was new and had little to no personality; he seemed nervous. It was my last time there. This was not a one-off bad day. The food quality has been declining for several years. read more

Excellent flavorful brisket and turkey breast. Biggest tastiest portion of beans and tater salad I have yet had in Tx. Sitting outside offered beautiful rolling hill views of 15 miles at least. We always make a lunch stop here when in town but the food was not great this time. We got the three meat platter to share, as always. Brisket was so so, sausage was different and not good, turkey was good. Potato salad was dry and gritty with zero flavor. Green beans were delish. Bread delish but the honey butter was completely melted and liquid. Mac n cheese was good. And the bread is always a success. Excellent staff. Okay - I'll start off with, this is Texas. You have to have PHENOMENAL BBQ to compete. Compared to other states, this place is top notch. Compared to other places in Austin though? It's good, but definitely not the best. You know what it's the best at though? Not having an hour long wait out the door just to order. So if you're looking for a sit down where you won't wait forever, this is the spot. We showed up at happy hour which was awesome! Cheap drinks, and their house margarita had really high quality liquor. Our waiter had two big parties so my assumption is he was overwhelmed, but it did take a loooooong time to order. I'm talking we probably sat there for an hour before he came to take food orders, which was crazy. I'm not sure if he seated us, took his lunch, then came back to help us? Not sure, but that was our biggest complaint. The food was good - again, not the best in Austin, but better than your average BBQ place. We got a meat plate and it's definitely worth the money, they give you good size portions. The baked potato was buttery and tasty, the fried okra was great. Their bread and honey butter? AMAZING. Their banana pudding was SO GOOD. I should have gotten an extra one! If we're in the area with a big party, this is probably the best place to get Texas BBQ so I'm sure we'll be back. read more

My girl and I came to Austin for a weekend getaway. We found this amazing restaurant. My girl got the ribeye and I got a full rack of the beef ribs. The portions were huge. This place is a fantastic ambiance!! It is decorated with Texas and country feeling decor. They had an incredible patio over looking the river and I giant grass space for outdoor dinning/events. We were able to walk in and get seated after a 30 minute wait at 7:30 pm on a Thursday evening. Can't ask for a better bbq ambiance. Our waiter was so nice and helpful for suggestions. The food comes out extremely quick. Make sure to our their famous homemade bread it was our favorite. The bbq itself is okay but nothing special for TX bbq. read more

We haven't eaten here for awhile. We ordered a couple of Wranglers to go. It was easy to order online, and the pickup was simple as well. Called when we pulled into a spot and the food was brought out quickly. Everything was correct in the order when we got home. We didn't get any bread, but we also didn't order any. There was no way to order online. The salads have been upgraded. They now have cranberries in them. The steaks were cooked well, as we requested. Maybe we will start ordering more often. read more

WORST BRISKET IN ALL OF AUSTIN, TEXAS. Dry, colorless and flavorless with zero bark. I had to add salt and drown in it their sauce. And it's expensive and the portion is skimpy at best. And it's not the first time I've had it. I gave it a second chance and it was the same wretched experience both times. So don't bother with their brisket. Everything else is pretty good. I had not been to The County Line in years as I had watched it seem to fall behind some of the other BBQ places around where I live. MANY years ago I loved it! Well on a whim, the Lady and I ordered a delivery of 1/2 pound lean and 1/2 pound wet brisket. The prices had gone up of course, especially since the world turned upside down. The brisket?
