At the start of the process…read moreI reached out to several companies for quotes and Shawn was the only one that offered to come see the space in-person and take all the measurements required to build a quote. All the others required us to do that ourselves which is doable but a bit complicated. We received quotes from 1/2 a dozen companies and none of them could provide a design that included all the details we had on our wish list except for Flooring & Cabinet Outlet! On top of finally getting a design we wanted Shawn's quote was so competitively priced we knew he was the right choice. Shawn was so responsive over email, phone and even text. As we corresponded over the project, we always had the information we needed from him and never felt lost or ignored. Shawn kindly offered to review all the appliances we had chosen before purchase to confirm that they would work within the design and measurements .Our fridge was a unique, non-standard size and Shawn even sent us the exact product he recommended, and we love it! Shawn's team installed our cabinetry, countertops and sink pluming. They had completed their work in just 3 consecutive days! The crew was polite and kept the place clean as possible. We are so happy with the results. I would hire Shawn and his team again and again if given the opportunity.

The team (Steve and Kieran) arrived on time, were careful to keep our house clean, installed a beautiful closet in a couple of hours, and cleaned up afterwards (including vacuuming). They were pleasant, cordial and efficient. Our doberman was quite vocal with Steve but he took it in stride. Communication with the office manager was excellent. It is a closet we enjoy every day!! Selin did a great job of communicating throughout the project and kept us informed of what was next. We had very few minor items on the punch list which were addressed promptly. We hired That 1 Painter in Loudoun County to paint the interior of our 4,500 square foot home in…read moreNovember 2024. At first we met with Mitch from sales who promised us the world. He said the entire project, a fully furnished house, would be finished in one week. He told us we would not have to move out and that every door and surface would be covered. He also said our kitchen cabinets would be painted outside so we could safely store our boxed up kitchen items in the garage. Based on his promises and the company's online reviews, we moved forward. Once work started the story was very different. Brian, who led the actual painting crew, explained a longer timeline and a different process. In reality the job took much longer than one week and we did have to move out for several days. We also learned that we should not have stored our kitchen things in the garage because the cabinets were painted in that space, so we had to move everything a second time. There were also major miscommunications and mistakes. We gave permission for the crew to pull up carpet edges to paint the trim but instead they cut the carpet. With four pets and two kids that meant we had no choice but to immediately replace the carpet entirely. Their recommended carpet vendor then came in, scratched up freshly painted walls, and those areas had to be painted again. On top of that their paint supplier mixed our primary color wrong, which required repainting large sections of the house. While Brian and his crew worked hard and did a solid job with the painting, there was a huge disconnect between the promises Mitch made in sales and what the operations team could realistically deliver. The crew also had to take apart things like cabinets, closet systems, and window trim, but they did not put them back together properly. We had to go behind them and fix or reassemble much of it ourselves. One closet system even fell out of the wall a few months later. Most of the paint has held up, but there are more spots than there should be in high traffic areas such as doors, cabinets, and our trash drawer that already need touch ups less than a year later. When I reached out to see if they would stand by their work as many contractors do within a year, Mitch made it clear they would not. Overall I feel for Brian and his crew because they worked hard to meet unrealistic goals. However the gap between what was sold and what was actually delivered, combined with the lack of accountability afterward, left us very disappointed.

Rob built and installed a wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling entertainment system for our family room. He also put up crown molding in two of our rooms. The final product came out great and Rob was great to work with. (I've put pictures of the entertainment center shortly after installation and painting.) Initially we spoke to Rob over the phone and sent him some photos of ideas we liked. We followed that up with a meeting at his shop, during which he showed us around and took us through everything he could do, which was quite a bit! We finalized the design and he sent us a scaled drawing within a quick turn around. The drawing looked exactly like we envisioned. Rob came to the house to measure and a few short weeks later, Rob and his crew were at our home doing the installation. During the installation, the one thing that stuck out to me was that Rob was very involved. I've seen company owners disappear while the crew is doing that actual job. Not with this job! Rob strikes me as a bit of a perfectionist and he really pushed his crew to do a great job. It showed in the final product. The other thing that showed in the final product is that Rob used quality materials and craftsmanship. We spoke to other companies before hiring Frazier Custom Cabinetry and they all planned to use inferior MDF products. Rob uses old-school joining techniques instead of relying on more expedient, but flimsier, methods. We could see this in how the crown molding was attached and how he built things in his shop. We got higher quality materials put together with finer craftsmanship and didn't have to pay more than what the competitors were asking. In short, if you're looking to have custom cabinetry done, hire Rob. He's easy to work with. He does what he says he's going to do. And his product turns out great. I'm already looking around for the next thing I want Rob to do for us!

We were selling our home and needed our cabinets to be brought back to life. We met with Chris and he was a huge help. We were able to tour the premises and everything was explained nicely. He steered us away from a certain look that he said might become 'dated' after a year or two so we were grateful for his honesty. So, since we were selling the house, we went with the basic off-white color as you can see by the photos. LOVE THEM!!! I believe it was his wife and possibly son (?) who came by the house and meticulously removed the cabinet doors and hardware. They marked everything with blue painter's tape and placed the hardware on the shelves or in the cabinets so as to have an efficient re-install. It took them a while but from what they were saying, it just makes things so much easier and more efficient when re-installing the newly refreshed doors and drawers. The kitchen looked so much better and more refreshed that I almost, almost, didn't want to move! It's a small, local business so be patient with them. They don't have a huge staff but they have a great staff.

Parts came in after not having a washer for two weeks. He puts the parts in and still doesn't work. So now we will be waiting again for parts and hope they can fix this. Here's the problem with Bray and Scarf. Good luck with anyone picking up the phone at the service department. If they do answer they are less than helpful. I called the store several times in Sterling and asked for the manager to call me. Still has not called. They take no ownership in their products they sell. I think Bray and Scarf used to have a good reputation years ago. But that's clearly over. I will never buy anything from this company again. Sadly you get better service at the big box chains. Update: The repair technician came to my house, and the parts he brought did not fix the machine. GE advises ordering additional parts. I called Centricity, the warranty company (All warranty claims go here). They told me that Bray and Scarf have not yet sent them the request for repairs. This is 4 days later. Additionally, the technician informed us that Bray and Sacrf do not determine when they reach a decision on whether the machine is unrepairable. However, Centricity told me that it is the technician from Bray and Scarf who makes that determination. So clearly, no one wants to accept any responsibility So, I called the service department, and again, I could not get through to anyone. Waited on hold several times, then was disconnected. So I called the corporate number, and the receptionist told me that they are "checking the lines." I assume she meant there is a technical issue. However, this has been my experience over the past several weeks: no one in the service department answers the phone. Also, the manager from the Sterling VA store has not returned my call.

This made the planning much simpler - we just bought everything that we thought that we might need, used what we liked the most, and returned the rest without any hassle at all. When we had a problem with some of the mosaic back splash tiles not matching (a manufacturing error, not the tile shop's) the staff bent over backwards to make certain that we got we needed to finish the project in the two days we had left with the contractor. We would definitely go to them again for our tiling projects!

It was a no brainer to choose them. When it comes to the work itself, the craftsmanship was very good, the cuts are so clean and everything looks amazing. They did very fast work without sacrificing quality. The only areas for improvement I would say they could have are: - Communication during the days of the project, so you know without having to ask when they are coming, leaving, what the progress is, etc. - Ensuring when they put furniture and things back that they pay attention to things like hooking up HDMIs back to the correct places - Doing a better job of cleanup -- they left behind a TON of dust coating everything, sawdust in my basement that I presume blew in from leaving the garage entrance open where they were working, cans/water bottles left behind - Building in measurement/space for lower flooring to not leave a gap in the trim; they came back and did some caulking after I had a water/rain issue, but it still doesn't look as good -- I wish that their molding/trim solution filled the big gaps and I'm going to have to find a way to do that myself To their credit, they were very fast and responsive when I had a water issue and came back out the next day. I also had a crack in my basement ceiling where something pounded through or pounded the drywall loose from the flooring above being done, and they credited me enough money back to be able to have my handyman fix it. Overall, I would definitely use DFD again.

If you have projects that require timelines and coordination with your contractors stay away from Conestoga !!! I can't even pick up my order excuse no one in the warehouse and my order is a small box !!!

I don't normally write reviews, but in this case, it is a must. Winkhel - Countertop Guru - lives up to his name. We moved to the D.C. area in September and decided to put a kitchen in the finished basement for my mother. We put our kitchen in with the help of Home Depot and an independent contractor, but when it came to the counter tops, our price point would only support laminate (I couldn't believe how high the quote!) After our contractor said we could probably get granite for about the same price, we decided to check around for prices. Winkhel was the first business I called - his website was impressive, especially his special offer on certain granite colors. He came to the house within a few days, was very thorough, and was able beat Home Depot's laminate price with his granite price! We chose Baltic Brown; he brought a beautiful slab of granite and we are thrilled with the results. After about a month, we decided the kitchen wasn't large enough - we called Winkhel - he fit us in during a busy holiday season.....searched high and low for a piece of granite to match the one already installed...and had it done before our families arrived for the holidays..........he is honest, hard working, professional, and just an all around good guy. I started looking for new countertops at Lowes and Home Depot, and it was a waste of time. They don't offer free estimates, and they give you separate prices for the countertop, sink, faucet, and removal of the old countertops. They said they could provide a plumber for another price, but only for certain brands. Then I started looking at small companies on the internet and found that Countertop Guru was offering the lowest price on granite. His price included everything, and it was the same price that a formica installation would have been at the big stores. I called Winkhel, and he came to my house to explain the process and talk to me about options for my countertops. Two weeks after I picked out the slab, he came to my house on a Saturday and completed the entire installation including removal of the old countertops and plumbing. The new countertops, sink, and faucet look even better than I expected, and they make my 20 year old kitchen look like new. Winkhel is truly a "guru" when it comes to countertop repairs. Our Corian, though nearly twenty years old, was in generally excellent shape except for a couple of hairline cracks. Full replacement would have been expensive and wasteful, so we were happy to be able to find someone who could do a repair for a tiny fraction of that cost. I'm happy to report that the repaired sections are completely invisible. We had scraps of the original material that he was able to use to patch in, so exact color match was no problem. Once the patches were made, he even went so far as to buff our entire 15' length of counter to assure that the surface finish was consistent. Winkhel and Luis were a pleasure to work with: neat, polite, and very accommodating of our schedule. They worked on Sunday morning to make sure that the repair was done before another contractor was due to start on another project on Monday. Everything was cleaned up meticulously so that we could begin using our kitchen without delay. We would go out of our way to use this company again! read more

What can I say about this company. Not only was Winkhel very personable but he was also very professional. You can tell right off the bat that he cares about his company and he takes pride in what he does. He was responsive to our questions and concerns and was very good in giving you a heads up with any issues. For example, the granite that we chose at the warehouse had a crack on it so he was able to find one similar to it and alerted me right away so I can choose another one or go with what he picked. He was also great at giving us a heads up if he was going to be late. It's hard to find great customer service these days. Winkhel and his crew by far exceeds that and was true to every word. We found him based on these reviews and I want to thank everyone for their comments. We are so happy with our countertops and we will certainly use them again in the future. I came across Countertop Guru (CG) while searching on the internet, and took a chance. My prime need was a new granite countertop, and was also considering the backsplash and some complex kitchen exhaust ductwork along with a range hood. Winkhel from CG worked with us patiently as we took our own sweet time making up and changing our minds for the granite stone. He also brought another guy Hoolio with him to do the additional work. Their work was flawless, and they worked patiently - never in a hurry to finish the job for the sake of finishing - which is a quality I seldom see in contractors. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my new kitchen countertop freshly installed by Winkhel and crew at the Countertop Guru. I was thinking laminate, but Winkhel took the time to show me some different options which were also reasonably priced. The price quoted was extremely reasonable. We paid 1/2 up front and the balance after installation. I am completely satisfied. We now may change the backsplash. They don't supply the tile which we will have to purchase after living with the new granite. If we decide to change the backsplash also, they will certainly be the ones to remove what we have and install the new. I have no reservations working with them and found the communication to be excellent.

We chose a rare Ijen Blue Quartzite slab--half light, half dark--and clearly communicated (in person, by text, and with a visit to their showroom) that we wanted the light portion at the front sink area and dark in the back. They agreed multiple times. Installation day came, and the layout was completely reversed. They had cut the slab incorrectly, and no one warned us. When we paused the install, we were blamed for not buying a $450 rendering. Yet no one told us this was required to ensure our layout was followed. When we voiced concern, the regional manager, BK, called and was shockingly unprofessional, telling me to calm down, saying our job was "just one slab," and implying our project was too small to matter. He refused to take responsibility and repeatedly said they "did nothing wrong." He also said that they would have cut it anyway they determined was right and it didn't matter if we did the rendering. Being gaslit, told my project was small, and changing the orientation of the beautiful quartzite was beyond the pale. The way they cut the stone did change how we had planned our kitchen to look. For a $10,000 job on a $2,800 slab, this was beyond disappointing. We allowed the install just to get them out of our home. I've worked with contractors nationwide, and this was one of the worst experiences I've ever had.

There were numerous decisions to make in doing a kitchen remodel and my husband and I have made some mistakes but selecting NEKA was not one of them. They were terrific and were there for us from the beginning to end. I don't know how many phone calls I've made to them but there were many and they were always available, patient and answered every single question. Thank you NEKA for a job well done! The installers were amazing. What left a bit to be desired was negative interaction with one of the owners on the phone during the install, and the follow-up customer service. The countertop and backsplash are beautiful, but there are dull spots every here and there, and there is a small counter whose texture is rough/bumpy. I contacted them back in November about the issue and never heard back. I'm more than a little disappointed.

They had a nice selection, were reasonably priced and did a great job cutting. They were pleasant to work with too. However, we did have a more significant issue and I'm not a fan of how it was handled (or rather lack there of). During installation, I was told the seam on the counter would line up with the same matching backsplash lip. I came back into the room and it was already done but not lined up (2.5" apart) - no attempt to tell me even though I was home. I spoke with the owner Eric after who assured me that it could be corrected. I offered to pay. He implied that was not needed and he would text or call me back to schedule. He didn't. This happened several times. Now my backsplash tile is about to go in. Perhaps this would be a non-issue for most. For us, we are installing large format tile, and so in this case there will be three different seams within a 6" space - not aesthetically pleasing in our opinion. Each time I reached out to owner over a few weeks, he assured me no problem they would take care of and schedule. I was ghosted each time. Couple of other smaller issues we noticed that we can live with that aren't earth shattering: backsplash different height in separate area, they added a metal piece above dishwasher and now it makes a metal scraping sound when it closes, underside of island counter has netting. If you want a reasonable deal and quality, they are a decent option. If details like this matter to you, look elsewhere. I personally will look elsewhere for any future work. ETA: just realized the island was not cut straight. The edges have wobbles when running hand along.

However, we had only the basic builder grade laminate countertops and sink fixtures . Recently we did a major refresh of our kitchen, and Granite Vision Ashburn took the lead on the work. I didn't need a full kitchen remodel; we kept the Cherry cabinets and dark Bruce hardwood floors. I looked for contractors to replace the countertops, do the plumbing, install under-counter lighting, and install a tile backsplash. I could do some of the light work myself, including changing drawer pulls, installing new light fixtures in places where they already were installed, and painting. I visited a couple different fabricators but they didn't particularly impress me with their enthusiasm, products, or interest in my project. One specifically said it's up to me to coordinate with a plumber for all the plumbing work myself. I saw Granite Vision Ashburn's road sign ad and decided to give them a call. From the first call from Peter and Scott I knew that they were dedicated professionals. Also, they were obviously enthusiastic about my project. I got the feeling that they wanted my kitchen to be something special, not just another job. They were able to help us select exactly the color Granite we wanted from a very large selection, and they fabricated and installed it beautifully. They took the lead on all the coordination with other contractors to do the plumbing, under- and over- counter lighting, and tile installation and it was like a one stop shop for me the homeowner. All the contractors they recommended did top notch excellent work. They were in and out on the same day with our countertops. The edge cut is beautiful on our island and bar. Our kitchen is absolutely gorgeous now thanks to Granite Vision Ashburn. Their price was 100% fair and they even got us a substantial discount on the tile. As a bonus they were able to cut an unused part of our slab to be used for the base of our fireplace some time in the future.
