Decent amount of fries, definitely has cheese flavor but not that much truffle oil aroma. I liked the wings which you get 6 per order. They weren't fried, but rather tender and juicy. Sauce was agreeable. Definitely enough food for my dinner. As for the drinks, I got the rosemary mule which is Moscow mule with some rosemary herb. The copper mug they use is good sized. Tasted refreshing although could feel the alcohol afterwards. Also tried a corpse reviver no. 2, which was a little sweet but has a punch. Cocktail prices are not cheap outside of happy hour, in the upper teens. Overall, was glad I tried the place out. Will drop by for happy hour once in a while.

They have special Whiskey Talk nights and tasting events. You can get also get other drinks and even order food to eat inside. I usually get the Black Rabbit Red wine, but there are a couple beers on tap. Of course this is also a stop for a passport stamp. If it's cold and not too loud we do occasionally sit inside. It has a quaint, cramped vibe so you may get to know your neighbors. If the weather is good we often sit outside by one of the many fires. Sometimes there is live music playing in the courtyard and this makes for a great way to spend an evening. But if you don't know you can also get your drinks to go and walk around exploring the grounds, just be aware you are not supposed to cross the street with your drinks to the pool/Nui Nui bar.

Michelle and the Sammamish River Trail, and there is a lot to like here. Food & Drink: The food is very good across the board. The chicken sandwich is a standout, and they have some of the better wings in the area if you like a dry rub. The fish and chips have a solid crunch despite being light/airy, and both the beef and lamb burgers are well executed. The homemade black bean burger is an underrated vegan option. The Green Goddess salad is also pretty good, and gluten-free buns are available. They rotate in seasonal items as well, so there is usually something different on the menu. The bar leans more toward cocktails and whiskey than beer. The whiskey selection is great. Other spirits are less diverse, but there is enough to make most cocktails. They are solid at making the classics--I've had the Martini, Paper Plane, Gimlet, and Manhattan here, and all have been very good. The seasonal cocktail menu is also usually well done, with options built around a variety of spirits. This isn't a top-grade cocktail program, but it is pretty solid and fits the vibe of the place well. One of their quirks is the alcoholic milkshake. I haven't had one, but have heard good things. The beer menu is probably a little weak in terms of options for somewhere with "Tavern" in the name. They still have some local brews on tap, but beer clearly isn't the focus here. Ambiance & Service: Hollywood Tavern has a great location in Woodinville, near Chateau Ste. Michelle and the Sammamish River Trail. There is a decently sized parking lot that usually doesn't overflow. The outdoor seating area is solid, complete with Adirondack chairs and a fire pit. Inside looks and feels like a tavern. There is some great wall art showing the building from when it was a gas station and Woodinville was still "out in the sticks." The interior is basically divided into two halves, with the bar on one side. There is a nice rustic wood-top bar with seating for maybe ten, plus additional high-top seating along the windows. There is also an indoor/outdoor-feeling section along the road. There is usually a good buzz in the room. It isn't a quiet or intimate spot, but it also isn't really a "socialize with the locals" type of tavern. It works particularly well for a casual date night or a guys' or girls' night out. Country music (Bluegrass/Americana) is usually what's playing (fairly quietly). It also works surprisingly well for families. Between the noise level and lack of formal dining, it is a good option for a "fancy" family dinner where everyone can still relax. The kids menu is fairly standard, but portions are solid and the value is good. Kids get crayons and coloring menus, and parents can actually enjoy the food and drinks without feeling like they brought their kids somewhere they shouldn't have. Service is above average. The staff is friendly and attentive without being overbearing, and the service fits the casual atmosphere well. Final Thoughts: Five stars. Think upscale tavern with more of a focus on cocktails than beer, but with country music and a rustic finish. Hollywood Tavern combines very good food, solid cocktails, a great whiskey selection, above-average service, and one of the better casual atmospheres in Woodinville. It works equally well for a casual date night, a night out with friends, or a nicer family dinner. Von's or The Shed, will get the press/publicity in the area, but for me, this place is an underrated gem. -AC

A SPECIAL KIND OF TERRIBLE The Cottage in Bothell (more of a women's wine bar than a restaurant) tries too hard to be "fancy" but misses the mark. Whoever created the menu took a bunch of trendy, faddie food ingredients that sound good, put them together in weird "creations" that, once combined, are utterly inedible - and then charge shameful prices. Our food was OLD and was likely cooked or prepared days, if not weeks, in advance. Ordered the Cottage Burger: we asked if the burger could be cooked medium rare. Our server answered, "NO, OUR KITCHEN IS NOT SET UP FOR THAT." The server's answer was odd, but we quickly understood her meaning after the burger arrived. They could not cook it medium rare, to order, because it had already been PRE-cooked: it was dry, crumbly and flavorless with no "meat juices/fats" running out. It was evident that the burger had been pre-cooked long ago, then reheated for our order. The cheese was not melted on top of the burger, nor was it even served ON the burger. It was IN the bread; meaning, take a ciabatta bread top, place a slice of cheese on it, then microwave it. The cheese melts INTO the bread. That's what we got. We asked for the aioli on the side. It came on the side but it was not aioli. It was a runny white flavorless liquid, similar to a yogurt drink or kefir (salad dressing, water & garlic powder?). Our choice of the "side" was their "pesto pasta". This was a cup of cold flavorless penne pasta (also likely cooked ahead and refrigerated) that was white, had a few sun dried tomatoes on top, some type of oil poured on (tasted like it was oil from the sun dried tomatoes jar), and a few flecks of something dried and green (DRIED basil or parsley?). So, NOT a pesto with pulverized pine nuts and basil which, when tossed, gives the pasta an overall nice green color. The small cup of pasta was not even tossed - it was "assembled", so after the first few pieces of pasta on the top, it was just a cup of plain old white macaroni. The price? $18.00 The "Coronation Chicken Salad Sandwich" was a particular disaster. The "curried chicken breast" was chopped up white chicken meat, likely from a can. It was spread, or more precisely pressed, onto 2 slices of brittle, blackened toast. The toast was so hard, so overly toasted and dry, that when you bit into the sandwich, it broke off in big hard chunks. The chicken salad was BRIGHT YELLOW, as in NEON yellow (dare I say, food color?). With that degree of color, one would think there would be at least SOME flavor. Wrong. There was ZERO curry taste. In fact, it had no taste at all. If you take chicken salad, even with curry, and leave it in the refrigerator for about a week or two, that's what you got here - flavorless and dry dry dry. Another of its ingredients (as listed on the menu) was "dried Washington cherries". These were chunks of cherries that had days/weeks ago been red and dried, but were now fully hydrated (having absorbed what little moisture had been left in the "salad"), and looking like swollen grey grape halves pressed into bright yellow goop. I scraped it all off and just ate the burnt toast. The price? $13.00 Their ubiquitous "red pepper romesco" was a runny red liquid, not a thick-ish sauce. We asked for mayonnaise, foolishly thinking that this place that calls itself a "restaurant" would have mayonnaise. Nope, no mayo here. With the place being essentially empty, we waited over half an hour for our order. The service was marginal AT BEST - had to repeatedly flag down the Invisible Server who it seems is the GENERAL MGR (but to whom we still GENEROUSLY tipped 10%). Staff were visibly irritated that we had a small child in our party. The "food" was dreadful. The goofy menu is one thing, but being served old and pre-cooked food is another. I'm deeply troubled by the recent incident at the restaurant. My family and I chose to dine there based on its positive reviews, only to encounter unwelcome treatment. As Asian patrons, we couldn't shake the feeling of being scrutinized by the waitress upon entering. While initially attributing it to the restaurant's busyness, our discomfort grew. Despite our understanding of the patio's reservation policy, we were disappointed by the lack of preparedness upon being seated indoors. Given that my parents are non-English speakers, my father signaled his readiness to order through gestures. However, when utensils were not promptly provided, he politely gestured for them. The manager's reaction was alarming. Instead of addressing our concerns, she reprimanded my father for not using specific words like "please and thank you" which again my dad doesn't speak the language. When I attempted to express our disappointment and explain our perspective, she interrupted me and threatened us with expulsion, citing her managerial authority. When I ask a box to box my left over, she aggressively took my salad away and insisted on boxing it for us, despite my offer to pack it myself. The manager then asserted that I shouldn't dictate how to run her business. This treatment was not only disrespectful but also discriminatory. As paying customers, we deserve to enjoy our dining experience without fear of mistreatment. I firmly believe that such behavior is unacceptable and against the law. I intend to pursue this matter further by lodging a complaint with certain departments and exploring legal options. I recently visited The Cottage in downtown Bothell, and I must say, the experience was a mix of delightful moments and a slight sense of haste. Let me break it down for you: Ambience: The moment I stepped inside, I was charmed by the cozy and cheery atmosphere. The interior exudes warmth, making it an ideal spot for a leisurely brunch. The rustic decor and comfortable seating create a welcoming vibe. Food and Coffee: Brunch Delights: The food offerings were a highlight. From the crab dip to the quiche, everything was flavorful and satisfying. The fries and desserts also deserve a special mention. The Cottage is a cozy bistro, that I enjoy sitting there enjoying a latte or a glass of wine. The staff is very professional and take great pride in catering to their customers Some nights they have live music. Not live music to the point you can't carry a conversation, but subtle easy listening music to accompany your conversation or light dinner. I met the chef last night, Chef Brandon, I believe his name is. He has come up with a delightful bistro type fare that is good not only for lunch, but also for a light dinner. There is also an assortment of delicious pastries and baked goods to accompany your latte or cappuccino. We had a wonderful experience at The Cottage--a charming spot that truly delivers on both food and atmosphere. I ordered the Farmhouse Hash and it was outstanding. The crispy hashbrowns, herbed red potatoes, and seasoned harvest vegetables came together beautifully, topped with a perfectly fried egg and a rich, flavorful romesco sauce. Every bite felt hearty and thoughtfully crafted. Their cocktails and coffee were equally impressive--well-balanced, flavorful, and clearly made with care. This was their response "Hi Emory, As much as we would like to be able to do this, you completely trashed us and our business online, plus you gave us negative reviews. We gave you a lot of chances and had communications about the rules multiple times. We set these limits and rules as it is what is best for our guests and employees. I was here in the morning to grab some coffee and the barista was beyond rude. I want to support small business but customer service is everything. You can't have a business without it, period. There was a handful of ppl working yet nobody acknowledged me and once someone finally took my coffee order I received the drink with a very bitter taste. A latte with flavor shouldn't taste like burnt coffee. I told the barista I wasn't sure about the drink and wondering if they could add more flavor and they wanted to charge me for it. This is hands down the most inviting and delicious spots in Bothell! The Saturday & Sunday brunch options are the perfect balance between sweet (French Toast Croissant) and savory (Irish Fry-Up) with a fresh squeezed mimosa! Around 3:00-4:00ish The Cottage switches to their dinner service, where they have amazing appetizers & a rotating pasta special. The Bar Manager Eric always makes the BEST cocktails with the best jokes! He makes a delicious drink called the Black Powder!! I truly enjoy every visit and everyone that works there! I've always had great customer service interactions with Giana. She's friendly, welcoming, and always makes you feel comfortable right away. She has such a positive attitude and you can tell she genuinely cares about making sure guests have a good experience. Great spot in downtown Bothell. I typically visit in the morning to do work, grab some coffee and get some work done before heading my actual work. Staff has always been friendly. The location is great, right in downtown Bothell. Close to city hall. The dining room has always been clean. Nice warm fire always burning. Coffee and food at top notch. no brewed coffee, which sucks, but the double short americanos are great. They have a great chef, all the food I have had at The Cottage has been great. Visiting from Hawaii. The cottage is a vibe, I really enjoyed the decor and ambience. We were seated quickly. Our server was very attentive and answered questions about the food and gave recommendations The food...we came in for Brunch. Everything we ate was delicious. The Turkish eggs were light and delicious (not too heavy) and I shared the scotch egg with my husband. It was nice breakfast twist to use sausage. My husband said the shrimp and grits were tasty. We had such a great experience at The Cottage. Our server, Peter, was absolutely amazing and truly cares about what he does. He was attentive, friendly, and made the whole experience even better. The cocktails were delicious, the food was incredible, and the ambiance had such a cool, inviting vibe. Everything from start to finish was excellent. I went to The Cottage with friends to celebrate my birthday. They gave us a semi -private room that was really cute and cozy. Really good breakfast options, though the price was a bit much. I appreciate Bothell being in the come-up over the years, but there was definitely a snooty vibe with some of the customers. For main, I odered the scallops served over a corn slaw of sorts and my date ordered the wagu tenderloin, both were great but my dish came with only 3 scallops, while not surpsising, is a bit skimpy. Each time, I was able to book a reservation using OpenTable, but we never really needed it because it never got that busy in the morning. First, the dining space, much like the hotel, is stylish and modern. The menu is well curated, so there is a nice selection of different breakfast and brunch dishes to pick from. Over three meals, I was able to try the following: - Cast Iron Corn Pancake: Very good. I wasn't sure what to expect here, because I've never had a corn pancake before. It comes out in a cast iron pan, so the underside is crispy and caramelized, while the rest of it is soft and moist. A really nice mix of textures, and just the right amount of sweetness. I could imagine a dish like this going wrong in a bunch of ways, but it was executed really nicely. - Egg Scramble Toast: OK. I felt the egg scramble was a bit dense, and the english pea guacamole and mole blanc were too mild in flavour. Not bad, but I was expecting more. - Fried Chicken and Waffles: Very good. Chicken was crispy and flavourful, chilli maple had just the right amount of punch. So good that my son ordered it twice. - Wagyu Smashburger: Very good. I love a good smashburger, and this one was as good as any. And shoestring fries are one of the best I've had in awhile. - Trout & Grits: Excellent. This was the standout dish for me. Trout was perfectly cooked (medium rare) so the outside had a perfect sear but the inside was moist. The smoke gouda grits provided a lot of umami, and paired so well with the trout. The confit tomatoes are a welcome addition of colour and flavour. This is a very well conceived dish that was executed perfectly the two times we ordered it. I wish all restaurants had a breakfast option like this. - Bowl of Fruit: Good. A very healthy amount of fruit, that comes with a delectable vanilla chantilly cream. - Grilled Pork Belly Banh Mi: Ok. It does have some resemblance to a traditional banh mi, but was lacking depth. Individual ingredients were pretty good, but didn't sum up to anything really outstanding. - Somm Margherita Pizza: Ok. The pizza dough/crust looked good, but ended up being a bit doughier than expected. I thought the tomato sauce lacked any flavour. Service for the most part was between acceptable to excellent, depending on the server we had each day. Overall, I really enjoyed all my breakfasts. I think the breakfast menu items they provide are very well thought out and impressively executed. I normally don't look forward to restaurant breakfasts because I find them generally boring and uninspiring - but not here. The breakfast here is something to look forward to. On the other hand, some of the the brunch items (like the pizza and banh mi) are less impressive. Overall, I still enjoyed my visits because of the trout & grits, chicken & waffles and wagyu smashburger dishes. I would say over 3 meals, it was a mix of 4 star and 5 star ratings.
