Full disclosure when we arrived I forgot this was a vegan restaurant. It was on my list and we were in the area so decided to stop in on Saturday around noon. The patio was a bit full so we put our name on the list for a table inside. We waited about 15 minutes, but made the most of the wait by going next door for coffee. They appeared a bit short staffed, however the staff we interacted with were very friendly. The food is very yummy. Sometimes I forget that it's amazing what can be made as a vegan recipe these days. The flavors were good and things were seasoned well, and they have to be imo to make up for the lack of flavors from meat, cheese, butter, cream etc. all things I love, but the mushroom gravy on these delectable biscuits was delicious. I also really liked the black beans and quinoa filling of the chimichanga. I would definitely come back and try other items on the menu.

Hands down one of the best vegan food experiences I've had in Phoenix. The Coronado absolutely delivers on flavor, texture, and vibe. Walking in honestly felt like stepping into Vampire Lestat's lair -- dark, moody, romantic energy... very Anne Rice novel in the best way possible. Super unique atmosphere, tarot card menus (obsessed), and there's also a really cool vibey coffee shop next door owned by the same folks. What I love most? This place is 100% plant-forward but they don't scream "vegan restaurant" anywhere -- it just shows up as a restaurant. And you can tell because plenty of non-vegans were there simply because the food is that good. Nothing was oversalted or over-seasoned, sauces tasted house-made, and everything felt intentional. The Cali burrito was fantastic, the fried guacamole was surprisingly light and delicious (not greasy at all), and the potato tacos were honestly divine. Only small gripe: I wanted to mix taco flavors and was told no -- tacos only come in pairs of the same kind. Didn't love that, especially since I was happy to pay any upcharge just to try a few varieties. That aside, service was friendly, we were seated quickly for early dinner, and overall it was a great experience. I'd absolutely come back and recommend it to vegans and non-vegans alike. Total vibe.

I was looking for a vegetarian friendly restaurant in the Phoenix area and came across The Coronado. This restaurant is 100% plant based with a wide variety of tasty dishes for both our vegetarian and non-vegetarian friends. I got the southwest burger with a side of fries, but honestly, there were so many dishes that sounded delicious and I'm not vegetarian. Next time, I would want to try: the tacos, harvest bowl, breakfast burrito, breakfast sandwich, etc. It was a nice day so we sat outside, but there is also a lot of seating inside. We had a reservation just in case but it wasn't very busy for brunch on a Sunday. The Coronado is located on the corner of a neighborhood in residential area. There is a small lot next to the restaurant, but there is also a dirt lot across the street. If that is also full, there's residential parking. Just make sure to be mindful of the residential property.

I was recommended to check out The Coronado by a friend. As an avid omnivore I was curious (and maybe a touch skeptical) to see how its vegan menu compared to a more conventional restaurant. I was thoroughly impressed. The biscuit was as flaky and tender as one made with animal fats, even if it was understandably a bit less buttery. What was particularly impressive to me however was the scrambled tofu, which had a surprisingly eggy flavor. The potatoes and roasted vegetables were on point too, but that shouldn't be a surprise. Also worth noting is the nice modern interior, which struck a good balance of sophistication and character. I would definitely recommend it if you're in the area, vegan or not!

I've been here too many times to count, but it's easily one of my favorite spots for brunch in phoenix - and it's all vegan! This place is much more flavorful and satisfying than a good amount of non-vegan spots around town. The music is always great with the best atmosphere inside and outside. Everyone who works here is super nice and accommodating. I keep coming back. Their food leaves you full and doesn't make you feel bad after. So so good

Great vegan restaurant! I came for brunch with a group of friends on Sunday. It was pretty busy so it was nice to have a reservation. The interior is really cute and the flower wallpaper gives it a homey feel. I got the savory pancake and tofu scramble. It was a really unique dish and I loved it! Our waitress was very nice and the little notebooks the check come in are pretty entertaining to skim through.

Another day of gr8 food, consistent attentive and kind services, and calm ambiance. We ordered the Cauli-Bites & Mini grand slam with mini Stack pancake, plus a side of black bean, was more than enuf to share for two. Always 1st in mind when wanted a bit of sweet and savory combo craving

Wow! We ordered to pick up so did not dine in but it was so cute inside and they had a nice little patio. I ordered the black seed burger! (Amazing!) and ordered the crunch wrap for my guy- which I ate half of! It was so good and fresh!

Potato Tacos, now called the "Nightshade Ritual" or "Painted Desert," can't recall:-)

As is the norm at The Coronado, the service, the meals, and the ambiance, were all stellar! Heck, even the water tasted great (or were we just super dehydrated from a super hot day in Phoenix)? Highly recommended!

Finally found a great vegan place where I can take my wife (who is vegetarian) but I can also enjoy the food because it's all delicious. Truly a unique scratch kitchen and they use very fresh ingredients. As well as a cocktail bar! Service is quick, even when it's busy.

Amazing atmosphere, wonderful staff and incredibly beautiful + flavorful vegan food!! Plus delicious and well-balanced cocktails. The ingredients in every dish are so wholesome and nourishing. Absolutely a must try spot in PHX.

Stopping by today to grab some food to go for my road trip. I'm keeping it simple and getting a smaller version of my favorite salad, the Caesar and also a cookie. The service is always great and the space is such a vibe. I enjoy stopping here as often as I can when I'm coming through Phoenix and have the time.

Located in the Melrose part…read moreof Phoenix, I checked out Bar 1912 after having dinner at Valentine (hint, hint: the speakeasy is located inside the restaurant). They have a small parking lot, but it's free and I was able to find a spot on a Friday evening. Ambiance (2.5/5): Speakeasies are known for their sophistication and for their hidden entry. Bar 1912 isn't much of a mystery. There are two entry points. Either a door in the back of the restaurant or a hallway inside the restaurant that's relatively easy to find as there isn't a door or anything in between the restaurant and the speakeasy. Our waiter took us there after our meal. Bar 1912 is nice, but just about average in terms of ambiance compared to other speakeasies. Part of the reason is that it's very loud (seats 30 people or so) and all of the seating at the bar are back-less bar stools (which I personally hate due to my back). I would have preferred to sit on the various couches/sofas next to the bar. Service (4.5/5): Friendly, attentive service. Exactly what you hope for when you're grabbing a drink (especially when they take a little longer to make due to their sophistication). You're provided with water without asking which is always a nice touch. I had to grab the bartender's attention once or twice, but outside of that, a job well done. Food (N/A); Since I had dinner at Valentine prior, I skipped food here. They have a small menu consisting mostly of appetizers (many, but not all, which are offered at Valentine). One option which isn't at Valentine, but which piqued my interest is the Sonoran hot dog. Had I been hungry, it would've been a no brainer. They have four or so desserts on the menu, and I had room for dessert, but none of them seemed appetizing. Drinks (4/5): When I'm at a speakeasy, I look for creativity and an interesting blend of ingredients. You certainly have that here. There's a focus on Native American and Hispanic influences here, which is pretty cool, and fitting since we're in Phoenix and everything. I tried two cocktails, one was a hit and one was a miss. I'm pretty flexible when it comes to cocktails, and I know what I like, so I rarely miss. Unfortunately, it happened here. With that being said, I tried some liqueurs I had never had before which is awesome. And I enjoyed the cocktail menu. This isn't the type of spot you'll find an Espresso Martini...thankfully. With a couple of tweaks, Bar 1912 could be in line with some of my favorite speakeasies in town.

We had a reservation for 3 on a Friday night and I recommend doing that if going on the weekend. It was pretty full when we arrived at 8:45pm. The bar is not a huge place, there's an area up front with couches, bar seats, and high top tables along the bar. Main takeaways for me-- the cocktails are fantastic and complex. Really well balanced. I also appreciate the service was great, even with a busy bar. I love clarified cocktails and there were 3 options, our server was able to help me decide which one to try based on her descriptions and what I like. The menu is detailed which helps as well. My friend is vegan and she ordered the Living Color cocktail but she didn't notice the taro root cream, only after getting the drink and taking a sip, she realized due to how creamy it is. The bartender had no issue with making her a different drink that doesn't include dairy. But just know I'm not vegan, so down the hatch it went! I liked it as my final drink due to the desert feeling it has-- creamy and almost reminded me of an adult milkshake once melted a bit. During our time there, we ordered a couple drinks each, no snacks this time, we had already eaten dinner. Drinks we enjoyed: living color, passion project, quiet luxury, twig & berries, climate control, and a beer & shot. However as soon as I found it and immediately after entering Pretty Penny I was transformed to the cutest little restaurant. I was greeted immediately and had made a reservation so even though my friend hadn't arrived yet, they sat me down. They instantly offered water and menus (food and cocktail). I noticed that the menu seemed very small and the dishes were shareable -- I don't eat meat so I was hoping my friend wouldn't mind sticking with fish and seafood (which she didn't). As soon as I got to my table there was the cutest sign that said welcome to Sarah Sherman and guest -- it was such an adorable and personal touch, I loved that! As soon as my friend got there we immediately both ordered the cold brew old fashioned -- we thought about the espresso martini but this just sounded too good to pass up -- and we were not disappointed! This drink was so tasty and strong. We immediately ordered the bread (sourdough boule) to soak up some of the alcohol as well as some oysters and the salsa. The oysters were so well spiced and were absolutely delicious. But the bread, the bread, the bread -- the server mentioned that it took almost 9 months to develop the bread recipe and it served. It was the best bread and butter that I think I have ever had! The salsa was good but probably was my least favorite of everything and it was still super yummy. We then moved on to the octopus tostadas. Sometimes octopus is not my fav -- it can be too chewy but this was so amazing and incredibly flavorful. It was starting to be my favorite dish until we ordered the Hamachi -- OMG!! Talk about a mouth orgasm-- both my friend and I were yummming it up -- but seriously this bite was so complex with different flavors coming up with every chew -- it has coriander candied peanuts, fermented pineapple, avocado, pickled fresno, toasted coconut and aji amarillo yogurt -- The server mentioned that this was the chef's least favorite dish which I totally do not understand because this was off the charts in my book. We also tried the earl gray whiskey sour, which was light and delicious, and ended with the shrimp toast and the espresso martini. By the way the toast on the shrimp toast was like a little fried dough triangle -- sooooo gooood! The martini was good but the cold brew old fashioned really stole the spotlight for me. Other details I loved that just elevated the experience: Purse hook (very important to me), the little trays for your utensils, metal coasters, incredibly attentive servers, fantastic music, great ambiance and the cutest was the penny they put on top of your check. So cute -- was not expecting such an enjoyable all around experience!! Will be back 1000%!!!
