Very cool place. Literally. Ceiling fans were on and it was very cold outside. They wouldn't turn them off. Nice old school bar vibe. Lite bites and cheese plate. Full bar. Four of us came here last Friday night after the January Critical Mass ride. As others have mentioned, the neighborhood where The Corner is located is a touch on the sketchy side for now, but this area should improve in time, and even as is I'd have no problems coming here and feeling safe. This is definitely a spot for locals, which is a great find in this city. Though I only had one drink before leaving and didn't have a chance to try any of their bites, as a few others have mentioned, I was definitely surprised by their prices. A few of their 12 Oz. drafts were $3, and I think I had one of the more expensive items listed on their chalk board draft menu; It was a 16 Oz. Crispin cider, and priced out at $7. This place features a variety of cocktails, shaken and stirred by their team of mixologists behind the bar, and their cocktail menu features both classic and "nouveaux" concoctions. They offer a fair amount of beers and cider on tap, and more than 3 dozen bottled beers. They also have an acceptable variety of wines and a few types of sake as well. In all, a laid back "come as you are" neighborhood bar with a varied drink menu and great prices. I'll be back. read more

I love the idea of The Corner. The dimly-lit, laid-back vibe, the coolness of the space, the unassuming, off-the-beaten path location, the quality drinks. It all speaks to me. The only thing that The Corner has failed me in is the absolute seriousness of the bartenders. The notion that mixologists are pretentious and unapologetically unhumorous is unfortunately executed quite well here. Sitting at bars, ordering a few cocktails and exchanging friendly chatter with a bartender is one of my favorite things to do! At The Corner, I've sat at the bar, nearly never been welcomed, and plainly asked what I'm drinking only to never be addressed again. I'm totally late. I'd heard about The Corner for years but I discounted the stories as overselling the joint. My mistake. The Corner is a vital part of the Downtown landscape and the craft cocktail scene in Miami. I know that some places on the Beach get more play, but The Corner consistently shows folks how it's done and would, seamlessly, fit in to the bar movement in SF or other cities. The speakeasy vibe and effortless cool envelop customer and bartender alike. You need to come here. While I'm a beer man (and there is good beer to be had here), the cocktails are what put this place on the map. The menu is broken up in to classics and new twists/inventions. Being someone who vacillates between the two, I chose La Floridita (or, I think, a Hemingway daiquiri). Rum, grapefruit juice, lime juice, and a maraschino cherry served in a cocktail glass. If this was a drink good enough for Hemingway, I felt, in no way, was my masculinity compromised for drinking any kind of 'rita.' There's plenty of outside seating but forgo that, if possible, for a seat inside. The dark lighting and wooden chairs will add an element of classy mystery to even the most mundane of evenings. Skip the throngs of friends and come here solo or with one other person. What's going on at The Corner deserves your full, rapt attention. I dropped the ball when it came to giving The Corner its due (and my money/time). Don't be like me. This is one of very few instances in which that sentence will ever be written. Fun hipster bar, appropriately priced drinks. I drink beer and they have a very nice selection. Cocktails are supposed to be great but that's just not my thing. I often leave a club I'm at down the way to get drinks here as everything on that block sucks for variety. Appetizers are also good, definitely not going to replace a solid meal but nice to share with friends. Sometimes the bar is rammed, so be prepared to be nice and play it cool if you want to be served. You can also order drinks outside, which may be easier at crowded times. read more

I dig the Corner. This chill spot is what I like to call user-friendly. That, my friends, is a big deal in our town, ifyouknowwhatImean.... Exhibit A: Pricing. Many bottled brews, full liquor bar including hand-crafted cocktails, & wine by the glass Parking is feast or famine; if you're on 11th Street late Saturday night or early Sunday morning, you'll be hard pressed to find an affordable, safe spot. Then again, you're probably up to no good anyway, so do yourself and the general public a favor and take a cab. It's usually not hard to find parking on the street except during the busiest of club hours, just be careful walking to your car alone if you aren't strapped. The food is a solid 4 stars for price, speed, and quality. Deviled eggs and homemade pickles hit the spot for my snack craving. Sweet Happy Hour deals! And HH starts early on weekdays - 4-7pm. I love this because this lil' Corner bar is so close to my job and there's always parking in the area. Plus free wi-fi for me to play around with while I wait for my peeps. There's a huge selection of beer and they even have cans of Dale's for $3 during Happy Hour. The menu has light bites and sammies - the two I've tried have both been pretty yumms. The Mediterranean platter was damn good too, if you're in for snacks. Sketchy area so I recommend taking uber here, close to eleven and space and a good amount of homeless people are always around. Solid drinks, not sure if they do happy hour? But I did notice they have some new or seasonal cocktails to keep things interesting. Heard people talk a lot about their grilled cheese, yes they have food here lol, but didn't live up to the hype, it's an ok grilled cheese, better options in the menu. Service was on point tho, nice servers/bartenders. The "bartender" wearing a floral hat and goes by the name "Sleeper" according to the receipt from last night, needs to wake up!! His horrible attitude is a reflection of his work, the absolute worst cocktails I've ever had. He was so rude and condescending while behind the bar and has no customer service skills. After a night of bar hopping in Wynwood this is a perfect place to end the night or start your after hour partying. Either way its a win win situation. THe crowd is very chill and the drinks are inexpensive for downtown standards. You can sit inside all cozy or outside still cozy and get your convo on while listening to some great tunes. It seemed like the crowds from the other bars in Wynwood seemed to migrate to The Corner as the closed up shop as the night went on. See you out there! read more

I'd been hearing about this place from some friends and finally went last night. I don't get it. They barely put any effort into the place. It looked like they got the furniture on sale at Big Lots. The only saving grace was the bar itself - beautiful. Otherwise, it's dirty, dingy and boring. The staff could care less. It took us forever to get one drink. I've never seen bartenders move so slow. Set on the corner of N Miami Ave and 11th Street, The Corner is a neighborhood bar just below the building's art studios and adjacent to Nemesis. Its an escape from Magic City's madness despite its location off the edge of Gold Rush and Space. Its perfect for an after-work cocktail (try the "Ginger Rogering") or a late night beer and bite (go for the "Get My Goat" sandwhich filled with rich goat cheese and topped with roasted cherry tomatoes and basil). I sat at one of the tables outside, drinking a beer, eating a croque madame and randomly spurted out "WHY AM I SITTING OUTSIDE IN THIS TERRIBLE NEIGHBORHOOD??!". I then nodded at the homeless woman passing by and continued to sip my beer, shoot the shit with my friends, and have a great time. I live near the Arena, so The Corner is surely to become my go-to bar in 2012, effectively replacing The DRB. Sure, it's in a sketch neighborhood, but its the new hot spot right now, so its bustling enough to be safe. What's unique: - The menu. Strong focus on cheese sandwiches, which goes nicely with late night drinking. I dug the croque madame. - The ambiance. At least for Miami. Very hip while still remaining unpretentious. A bar I'd expect to run into in every corner of Chicago or NYC. - The layout. Expect to see one long table with stools on either side and be prepared to meet some new friends. Just make sure you park nearby and keep an eye out. This is still a developing neighborhood, and The Corner (and Nemesis) are trying to make it better... so far, so good. read more

I've driven by this place often and it's usually packed so I suggested to my boyfriend that we head there one night after watching a movie on the beach. We found parking very easily but it's true, The Corner is not situated in the best of neighborhoods although I wouldn't consider it dangerous. As we walked inside, I looked around at the people conversing while enjoying their drinks and noticed how very hip they are. This bar definitely seems to attract a certain crowd. We found our way to a table and I, based on yelp reviews, ordered the croque monsieur and a slice of pie (can't remember the type). My boyfriend ordered a beer and we patiently waited for the food. Out came the food, I ate it, end of story. The sandwich was mediocre as was the pie. I can recall thinking it wasn't worth the money. I love the look and feel of the place but I just don't think I could ever make it "my" spot. Another round of dessert brought me to this beauty at downtown Miami's "the corner". This was a sweet ending to a myriad of beers and one offer I could not pass up. In front of me sat a slice of mango pie with cinnamon ice cream on top. It tasted like the kind you would literally have served to you at a family gathering. The crust was definitely not the premade kind you buy at the store and try to pull off as your own. The mango filling was different from all of the common apple, cherry, custard pies we come across. But what I liked most was that mango season is not even in full swing in Miami so the best is truly yet to come. The pie was good but will only get better as Miamian will have mangos coming out of their noses in the summer. As the hotter-er-er months approach, mangoes will only get more flavorful and delicious (if you know the right trees that is:). And the combination of mango with other flavors are endless. I shared this slice of pie and felt optimistic of what was to come in the summer and remainder of the year. Sure, it could have been the buzz talking but hey, I embraced it. Besides, where else can you have drinks followed by homemade pie at 4, 5, or 6 o'clock in the morning (if you are not a baker yourself)? The corner. Now you know. Came here Friday after work because my best friend thought we should get out of our Brickell slump and "try something new". She has taken it upon herself to stalk places in her downtown area that we can venture to. Anyway, this place is out of place so to speak in its area. When I figured out the location I was like.. OH NO. But surprisingly enough this place is wonderful. They have $2.00 BEERS.. yes $2.00 and their snacks are delicious! We had the little sausages and chips.. yummy bar food. We sat outside since we smoke and were just able to lounge and chill. The restrooms, SPOTLESS! YAY! I loved the decor of the small yet very well decorated bar. We met the owner who was super sweet, trendy, type... Nice touch to see the owner at his establishment talking to the customers. I will definitely come here again. I like The Corner because its location is great and it's inexpensive. It's right by Club Space and Eleven, so it's a good spot to go to before or after your times there. I probably wouldn't make the drive to go there on its own, but if you want to go to a few places around there definitely stop here. They have an extensive collection of craft beers and typical name brand ones, it's organized, listed by the percent of alcohol content, and price. I know some places like not showing the price, but rather than being pretentious, The Corner is straightforward and helpful. My only complaint is that they don't have a lot of tables so it's hard to go with a group especially if it's crowded. With that in mind, they have indoor and outdoor seating, it's a cute spot, and I enjoy coming here with friends. It would be a nice cozy place for a date too. read more

Went back to The Corner to talk to catch up with my main squeeze, the Elder Statesman - we reconnected, and it was as great as the first time. A few things: 1. Orange Blossom Pilsner! I swear, this beer (my favorite) is starting to get around in South Florida, and I couldn't be happier. My mental roledex of places that serve it is getting to big to keep logged in my head. 2. When I asked for a "Gin-Gin Mule" the bartender gave me a blank stare - which is fine, sure, it's not an incredibly ubiquitous cocktail - but when he asked me if it was just vodka and ginger beer, I lost a lot of faith in him. The name is GIN-GIN. Gin and ginger beer. Come on! (It subs the gin for the vodka in a traditional Moscow Mule, so maybe I'm just being picky). Either way, even after having a mildly disparaging conversation about The Corner with a bartender elsewhere, I'm sticking by it - still love it. read more

Open til 5 am, this is a wonderful place to come grab a quality drink or craft beer for good prices. Days and evenings are more relaxed than nights. The food is delicious and I'm pretty sure the kitchen doesn't close til about 2 am. I love the Fattoush and grilled cheese. And Ommegang brand beers. It's a great combination. The bartenders are super friendly and willing to show you things and talk about them before you purchase. The bar is a stunning floor to ceiling wood masterpiece. Wow, the LegalArt Building has done it again, first Nemesis and now The Corner. What a great addition to the downtown neighborhood. If you live in one of the condos near the AA arena, I promise the corner will be your new favorite hangout spot. Very cute place with an at home, cozy feel to it. Great service, hip bartenders and loads of craft brewskies to choose from. They also have a handful of decent wine options and yummy looking mixed drinks. We came for food too. Started with the Pan con Tomato which was warm and tasty (included four wedges) and had another appetizer, which is now drawing a blank. All three of us in our group had the Crazy Madame. Excellent, although I'm not gonna lie, the one at Miami Arts Cafe IS definitly better. Ice Cream Sundae was good too. Can't wait to go back! read more

I think this is a very over looked spot in downtown. If you're looking for something casual and laid back this is a great bar. They have a nice drink menu and offer a few bites as well. The bar is really rustic and overall just has a relaxed feel. It being located in the middle of the club scene, its a pleasant alternative. Although it can attract a questionable crowd because of the location. I would have given a better rating if the bartenders were more pleasant. They seemed a bit miserable my last visit. read more

Update: the night time manager decides to give her friends the last "two grilled cheese" after the cook gave me the ok and asks me how much and how many I want. You need to really fix this because your business is suffering from this. Great food don't expect any service Not sure what the deal is with the wait staff here it's non existent 4 people behind the bar and no one waiting on tables/ you order your food and you have to pick it up. This place needs a serious rethink on how they do business. Chic a fila serves you your food but this place does not.. Seems like a real disconnect when wait staff is chatting away and totally disconnected from the patrons. The reason for two stars is the food.. Good food horribly designed lazy method. Small, neat and coincidentally, on the corner... The Corner is a pretty chill bar. Drink menu is awesome, great specials and decent prices. Bartenders are professional and ours served up some strong drinks, always a plus. There is some space here to sit inside and out but not a whole lot. The ambience is low key which makes for a cool place to sit back and chat with friends or really just enjoy some time to yourself (although I don't recommend drinking heavily alone). Nothing here I didn't like except for the location being out of the way for a tourist to get to. Overall, The Corner is a cool spot to go if you are looking for a more laid back Miami bar. Always love coming here and noticed that a friend of mine wrote a review and it got me thinking about my last visit. Definitely a great place to relax at the end of a long day OR even pregame a bit before starting the night. Whatever you're into, it fits the bill. The atmosphere, like the name, is low key and relaxed. There's always a good chill vibe, games to play, a dimly lit old fashioned bar with a rolling ladder, and staff that are very good at making specialty drinks. My favorite drink to get is the Vieux carre but be warned more than one can leave you silly. Definitely a must do to anyone visiting Miami and even for locals who are looking for some relaxation at the end of a long work week. Also there's appetizers to accompany your libations. Nothing phenomenal but a welcomed addition after a few Vieux carre!! read more

They tried to charge me $8 for a $6 beer, when I told them to correct the check, they told me that for debit and credit cards they had a $10 minimum so it makes the difference, I paid in cash and left. My Kentucky Tulip had fresh raspberries and was out of sight. We also ordered up a Chicago dog and a Mediterranean plate which came quick and was surprising very very good! We sat at an outdoor table with a couple of other people --- I do like that people are willing to share tables and talk to one another in Miami more than in New York. Just a very eclectic vibe. Granted, the place is located downtown around "the corner" from Space & Gold Rush, so you already know the area is a little shady. As we sat on a bench outside (it was broad daylight at this point) several police officers are driving around the place. Seriously. They were going in freaking circles. We soon realize why... A police officer zooms up to a homeless man and we look over in time to see the homeless guy drop a metal baseball bat. *CLANG!* Whoa. Apparently, he uses the bat to break into vehicles... It was confiscated but he was let go. ?? Don't ask. As for the place itself. It's definitely a hip place. Warm (what looked like coffee colored) walls and a nice bar with candles lit on tall candle holders. This lends a very inviting feel to the atmosphere. I'm diggin' it! They offer a large selection of beers including crafts and I've also heard that their cocktails are quite nice. The beer is pretty reasonably priced. They offer food even at this late hour but I didn't eat. I've heard that their grilled cheese is da bomb diggy. (Yeah, I said it.) I will probably check that out next time. We went there after going to the Art Museum. It is a short walk and was a great place to grab some cocktails and refreshing bites to compliment the amazing art we just saw. Definitely recommend it if you are visiting the Art Museum or nearby. We went around 5pm and it was nice and quite. Closer to six and it was getting very busy. We didn't stay for more than one drink, but from what I see, you could easily arrive at the wrong time and have to wait a bit for a drink or food because of the amount of people. read more

I was looking forward to a well crafted cocktail when I walked into this place. The place is dimly lit which gave it a romantic mysterious feel. The bar is artfully lines with fresh garnishes and there's a mirror behind the alcohol collection. The ambience could only go so far. Outside there were many tables of people chain smoking which helped kill the mood. We took a seat at the bar, which often lends itself to better service. Instead we were able to observe the bartender's lackluster enthusiasm firsthand. We patiently waited for a menu and then the bartender's attention to order two cocktails and some chips to snack on. We observed other patrons at the bar ordering drinks and snacks and both bartenders seemed annoyed to be there and to have to answer anyone's questions. When the bartender finally made our drinks we were asked if we wanted to open a tab or pay right away. We were still waiting for our chips. My boyfriend was offended by the fact that we were asked for a credit card when we were clearly right in front of the bartender. This is definitely not the treatment we've received at other bars in the area. We opted to close out instead. The bartender forgot to ring up our chips and we decided against reminding him we wanted them. We quickly finished our cocktails. They were okay, but I probably could have made them at home, not worth the expensive price tag and poor service we endured to get them. read more

This place helps fill a void for when clubs are closing late at night and people want to wind down not turn up and go to another club or whatever. It gets a big rush around 3 / 4 am just because of this, but relax be patient get your drink talk about your night maybe even get a bite to eat. For an afterhours place the food is very good, it's not just your typical bar food there are some pretty nice item's the medditeranean platter was outstanding. The bartenders really take pride in their drinks when making house recipe's and I appreciate that much. You may need to wait an extra second sometimes but trust me you can't rush perfection! read more

Calling an egg "deconstructed" does not make a hard boiled half with a squirt of mayo on it make it deviled, and 2. All charges over 35.00 "automatically" trip the 18% service fee?
