The people that work here are awful. I rarely leave reviews, but my experience at The Coop Bar was disappointing enough to warrant one. The service was the place wasn't even that busy and everyone that works here is rude. The bartender seemed more interested in chatting with friends than helping customers. I have been going here for awhile now and I went here last night, Saturday night. I was just dancing with my friends and some guy was shoving me, elbowing me and pushing me. My friend switched spots with me and he was pushing him too. He started saying rude stuff so I barged in and asked him to please stop bc he had been pushing me for a good 10 minutes. I asked him to please kindly stop bc it was getting out of hand. The bouncers kicked him out but then I also got kicked out. I love this place and I go here all the time but I am very upset of how the workers handled this situation and I was not helped at all. My 21+ year old daughter went on Tuesday this week and was so drunk she passed out on the dance floor. Two girls that helped her up were told by the bouncer she needs to go. No assist from any of the people that work there they just said she needed to leave. As she walked outside on their property fell onto a log and has cuts on her face plus a black eye. Who the hell does that I will tell you money hungry assholes. That place should be shut down for over serving and not one person behind the bar said we need to cut you off. My daughter does take responsibility for her actions but it could have been a lot worse. I did get a phone call at 3am from the CMC er that she was there. It was my first time at the coop, showed them my ID (mind you I am 21+) everything was alright at first. My friend loses his phone we try to find it step outside ( before hand asking if we're allowed back in, the faculty said yes) came back to "THE OWNER" in a black polo shirt and was the god awful And the rudest business owner I've ever met. This man banned me for not having a college ID (it was my first time here and they didn't ask when I first arrive so I was confused ?) And all I wanted was to help find my friends phone WHICH THE BARTENDERS HAD I just had to step out to get my friend so he could claim it. Came back and wasn't allowed in, asked to leave the property and I was very kind about the situation which was throwing me off as to why he was yelling at me in front of this large crowd... We came down for parents weekend and had a blast!! great bar food and atmosphere. but the best part of our night was our bartender extraordinaire G! She was amazin, so friendly and welcomin! Ive been here a handful of times. They're drink options are pretty disappointing. This is a place for frat and sororities to just get drunk and mingle. No care for the drinks and they dont even really have food. The servers are also rude. On top of this, the place is unsafe. It reeks of sexual assault and spiked drinks waiting to happen. A couple of incidents like that have happened in that place. Would recommend people to avoid this place, your time and money is better wasted somewhere worth better. Great college bar, outside and indoor seating and games, awesome employees, extremely convenient location, great specials, occasional entertainment and a huge fire pit. Food varies from an assortment of different appetizers to burgers and wings with many Sauces to choose from. All very tasty, I'm there all the time. read more

Absolutely terrible business. The bartenders said that they could "figure out" the drink I ordered. The next was realizing that they would not give me my card back after pronuciating my hyphenated last name (produced after marriage) because it didn't exist. After being asked behind the bar to spell my last name better, I was kicked out. I then asked for the owner and my card was retrieved and told it was an inconvenience to the bar. The staff, including a female co-owner, are unprofessional, rude and should not be allowed to run a business. If you are going to run a college bar you should be able to properly handle situations that arise. The first aid kit along with there facilities are not up to code. A girl cut herself on the bathroom mirror, she should not have been climbing over the stall but there was no signage to say that it was out of order or closed. Her wound was fairly deep and potentially deserving of a stitch or two, I went to get help and was handed a first aid kit with 3 bandaids and one tube of Neosporin in it. If someone ever actually got hurt at this bar you better hope 911 is fast because they will feel no sympathy nor do they have the proper equipment to handle a medical situation. Instead of being helpful they reprimanded the young lady as she was dripping blood on the bathroom floor. I was in disgust of how this situation was handled. I am a full time graduate level college student with a job in patient services, I was visiting my younger sister who attends Coastal Carolina. This bar allows in and knowingly serves alcohol to underage teens. These individuals walk around the bar proudly announcing that this is the place to go because they know they will get served. I cannot speak on the food or daytime atmosphere of this bar. However I would never recommend anyone I know to go to this establishment on a Tuesday for lunch or a Friday night out. RUDE-RUDE-RUDE. We came from NY we decided to go out for a drink, there were four of us. The drinks were decent the signature drinks were good the first service we got was good the second HORRIBLE. The place closes at 2 they called last call at 1:15am. Which was fine but around 1:25 "the bro's" started vigorously cleaning up the place throwing away our drinks that weren't finished. I asked my cousin for the time the one D-bag cut in and said it's last call time when it was 1:28am- which we already knew because they announced it a couple times previously. We decided to quickly play another round of pool since the cue ball got stuck in the table and ruined the previous game we were playing. Anyways "the bro" comes back and makes it quite clear we were wearing out our welcome he started slamming the chairs at the table our drinks were at. It was just obnoxious and unnecessary. Meanwhile there's like 10 other bro's just hanging out in there drinking. Which in no way looked like any of them were leaving any time soon so we figured it would be fine to just finish playing the game we were almost done anyways. Then less then 10 minutes later he came back again to let us know that was the last song. Yet another hint to let us know we needed to leave. It was just beyond annoying. We ended up just leaving without finishing the game. I get it's an after closing hangout for the friends but there was no need to make us paying customers feel un-welcomed. Especially since we were there finishing up a half hour before the closing time. Definitely WILL NOT be going back there for a drink. Way better service up North. read more

EXTREMELY upset with the service to say the least. For the four months I have been going here, my friends and I have brought our own drinks while also purchasing food and drinks from the coop (obviously). However, I had a drink in my hand, and a bartender made an obnoxiously unnecessary scene and kicked me out. After leaving to ask my ride to take me home, she started rudely yelling while also yelling at my friends who were trying to gather everyone to leave. Considering I go their about 3 nights a week spending 20+ a night, this behavior is more than uncalled for. I have told SO many friends and acquaintances about the Coop, and have brought SO much business. Extremely disappointed with how the situation was handled. read more
