This place is amazing. I went to this location for a very specific reason. I needed a GoToob for the rest of my trip. What is a GoToob?? Google it, I'll wait here. Hey, welcome back :) So I use those bad boys when I travel. They do not break or chip or crack when you drop them and they are TSA approved so you can fill them up with whatever you use and throw them in a quart sized bag. So, back to why I am writing about this amazing store... It was a multi-part trip and this was the first part, so I Google'ed where I could buy a Toob and this was the closest location. However it was 10:30 at night and they were closed. Fear Not, T-Mac, they have online ordering with in store pick up. Meant to be... Fast forward to the next morning when they just opened at some dude is waiting at the online order pickup lane. I was promptly approached, the associate disappeared into the back and two seconds later came back out with my $9.99 lifesaver... I did the whole online ordering so I could avoid any wait / lines etc... however I did sneak away and wander through all the items I did not know I needed. Now I order online all the time and when I am near one, I stop in. It is a great store and the folks are always polite and nice... they talk to you :) or at least say "Hi". "The Good" - The staff are polite and interested. Its cool to see their eyes light up when they see something that they have not stocked in a while and you can see the uses that they are going to do for the random container... that in and of itself is cool. - They have a large number of items... literally everything containers. - If you like to be organized, set aside the day... you are home here. - Try the online ordering ... it worked flawlessly. I love The Container Store!! It brings joy to my obesessive-compulsive, anal-retentive little heart. It soothes my soul just to walk the aisle and see all the neat & tidy displays. It.. organises my closet and helps keep my house clean? Well.. a girl can dream!! Seriously though, I have loved TCS's website for years, and was thrilled when I heard we were getting one right down the road from my house. They have literally EVERYTHING you could ever need to organise your kitchen, office, bathroom, closet, garage, you name it, and in multiple styles, sizes, and colors. I could spend a thousand dollars in this store quite easily but honestly I pop in even if I just need one completely random thing (i.e. a box of 72 heavy-duty plastic hangers, in royal blue, for $18? Why have I been buying these things at Target?!) and still walk out with an impulse buy (i.e. super-cute butterfly-patterned springtime gift wrap on sale for $2.49). It's a running joke in my family that I can't go into Target for a pack of gum without spending $100.. TCS is definitely starting to head towards that category! Add in the fact that the store is always spotlessly clean, the displays tidy and ever-changing, and the staff easy to find and so friendly and helpful, I feel completely confident giving TCS 4 stars! read more

A store where all of my organizing dreams can come true? Yes, please. When The Container Store opened in Raleigh, I was at the grand opening reception WITH BELLS ON!!! Since, I have utilized The Container Store for many organizing needs in my home, from my kitchen, home office, bathroom cabinets, and even the trunk of my car. If you need a container for something, this is your place. Don't be fooled by the container part of the name, because you can also find organizing solutions for just about everything you have thought of, and then some. I recently have used TCS for my travel needs and ways to keep my carry-on bag more organized. I am terrified of checking luggage so I like to pack in as much as I can into the carry-on bag. TCS has many ways to organize that, and our garage, and our closets, and so many things...I get giddy talking about it. Of course, the store is super organized and immaculate. The staff are friendly and if you join their email list, you can get specials and deals emailed to you. The only reason I am deducting a star is that I can often find an item in the store that I like, and find the product elsewhere for much less. I find myself doing a lot of comparing of prices while I am in the store. read more

Having lived in the Bay Area, there are a few of these stores. However, they were never in convenient locations for me. The closest was in The City on a busy street and parking was a pain in the tuckus. So I never went to the store. Not one of them. I resigned to covet all things for organizing on their website. Now imagine when I moved back to the Triangle and pulled into a parking lot in front of The Container Store. I swear I heard harps and angels singing when the doors opened. The selection is amazing, and the staff is very helpful. During a sale, the place can get crowded and a bit hectic. So you gotta brace yourself and leave your DH at home. If you need to organize any space, and I mean ANY space, this is the place to start. The Container Store is less expensive than it looks, offers excellent service and, were it not for the crappy vehicular entry/exit situation off of Glenwood and Creedmoor, would be nearly perfect. Because there are so many options in every category at TCS, you could easily spend all day here if you're just looking around. So, if you're time-pressed, looking for something specific or just want to review the options, check out their website first to narrow your choices down and then come into the store with some idea of what you want. If you're an impulse shopper, you'll still end up with some extra stuff, but at least you won't be overwhelmed with the selection. read more

Okay so I am a total sucker for some home goods, especially organizational ones. The Container Store is like heaven for these kinds of things. I was sad to see some of the other organizing/container store options in the area close, but glad that the Container Store is here to fill the void. Whether it is the kitchen, the closet, or the garage they've got something useful to help get some of the clutter organized and put away. The staff are friendly and helpful. They also offer product demonstrations at various times throughout the day. I would definitely check the prices of some stuff versus other places as some things are a bit more expensive, but it is all competitively priced. That being said, it still isn't cheap. For the most part, though, it feels like you get what you pay for since they stock decent brands like Simple Human, etc. read more

Okay, I wanted to give this place 4.5 stars, but unfortunately that doesn't fly. I went to the Container Store for the first time last night because they were having a college night event. Each person got an additional 20% off of their total purchase after finding amazing things that were ALL on sale! I knew this place had to be good when I arrived and saw a line that stretched out to the parking lot. There were staff members everywhere who assisted each customer and could answer just about any question. They even had a holding area if you had too many items to carry! That was also the downside though-- there weren't even enough shopping carts to hand out to everyone, and eventually part of the store had to be roped off to become a holding area. They roped off the kitchen container section, which was where I so desperately needed to go. I got amazing deals on everything I needed for this fall. The best part? All of the color choices. You can't go wrong with that at all. The only thing I have to say about the prices was that rolling, stackable drawers were far more expensive than comparable items you may find in Target or the like. I don't think it's necessary to pay $84 for rolling drawers when you can get the same thing for around $20. But let's face it-- the price was only so high because the quality of each product is INCREDIBLE. The Container Store has every possible thing you could ever think of when looking to organize. This is a heartbreaker! I have been a Container Store junky for years. This February I ordered a multi thousand dollar Elpha closet system. The delivery and installation got messed up. No big deal, but now, it's 90 days and 11 phone calls later and they have not done my installation or refunded my money. I'm having to involve the attorney general at this point. read more

Having a been a fan since their early days when I lived in California, the Container Store was one of those places that I was excited to find had a presence in Raleigh. I go here whenever I need that feeling of structure and less clutter in my life. The staff has always been very friendly and helpful, and I can find 99% of my storage and organization needs within these walls. However, the Container Store can be a bit pricey, so here are some insider tips: - Sign up for their Pop Perks program. It's free, and you receive coupons pretty regularly. - Shop online for store-pickup... and then use eBates at check out! If you don't know what eBates is, send me a message and I'll send you a link but seriously, you'll thank me. The Container Store always has decent eBates on their site and you can use it with the in-store pickup option. Not only do I save money from only buying exactly what I need at the time, I don't have to wait in a long line and I get cash back from my purchase. - Know their sales! They do a few sales pretty consistently every year. Obviously during the holidays they will have a lot of promos but they also have some sales pretty regularly every year. For example, every January they do their big Elfa storage system sale... they might do it July too? If you haven't used the Elfa closets, they may not seem super glamorous, but they will seriously change the outlook of your closet. The design session is free and there are no obligations, but you can ultimately customize a closet to your specs based on the amount of clothes you prefer to hang vs fold, shoe collection, any other items you want to store, etc, etc. We've had a few elfa closets over the years and they are totally worth the investment, especially if you can get them on sale! It's a little weird that I can go on and on about a store focused solely on an organized life, but this place really is the clean freak's dream! read more

She deserves the praise. She went and got all the large items on my list and even helped me by getting another clerk and herself to help me out to the car to load it up. I love the Container Store brand in general, but I have also loved every experience I've had in this store. I've found great kitchen organizers, closet organizers, and bathroom organizers. The staff have always been helpful and enthusiastic and patient in helping me look for what I need and the cashiers are so nice and helpful. My tip would be to think outside the box and look for storage solutions in more sections than just the category you expect to find things, and of course bring your dimensions with you when you shop. read more

I am only giving a 2 because I was able to find something to purchase. 1 Star for the customer service we received from the manager who stated that his name was Trey. When my mother inquired about wholesale pricing she was quickly dismissed. We may not look like business owners, but we are and not matter what you look like, at least treat people spending their hard-earned money with respect and decency. read more

The Container Store !?!?!?! Are you kiddin? So I'm thinkling a whole SuperStore of containers, Yeah, That'll fly. Well, knock me in the head and throw me in a Zip Lock bag. Needing a shadow box for my Military insignia I'm googling all over the place until TCS comes to mind. Lo and behold, 4 rows back and 2 aisles over and there are shadow boxes. Look, I spent almost 2 hours browsing this store and I loved it. Came away with a zillion ideas to improve my limited organizational skills. No customer service at all! Ordered online, for pickup in a week, had a change in plans, and wanted to pickup today(they had the item in stock at the store). Called the store to inform them of my Intension and advised them the item was in stock in store, was advised that they were very busy and had a pickup every 30 minutes..... which does not seem to be busy....He finally then agreed that I could take my chance, get there, pickup the items and they could cancel the online order at the cashier, and all would be good. Made it over there, picked the items went to the checkout, and I was then told it was not possible, and that I could pay for these items, but I had to come back in a week, my original pickup date, get the items again and return them at that time, she said she was not able to cancel it.....I asked if she was kidding, and she then called someone after I told her I was advised when I called in that it could be done as I intended....and she finally proceeded with it. I have to say I am very dissapointed with the inconvenience of their pickup in store option and the staff in general, you have to be there at a specific time, can not change it easily without calling for a new appointment, again, only 2 slots per hour, and the cashier was unfriendly, had an attitude and did initially not want to assist at all. I will not be back, and no one should wonder why a certain online retailer is beating these local stores hands down.....I try to support local businesses, but will not be back to this one......they can not blame anyone but themselves....... read more

Husband wanted something to help him organize some of his office supplies. We decided to visit the one place we were sure we'd find some solutions. We're from Atlanta so we've been to the Container Store there before... and spent a lot of money there at times. After moving to Durham we rarely make it there, but today we made the trek with our four-year-old in tow. He wasn't sure what he was looking for... as we could really do a lot with the space that we have. When we arrived we saw lots of signs for the Elfa systems being on sale. We drifted around the store a bit before landing in the office area. My 4 year old child sat quietly in an office chair pretending to "type" on a fake keyboard. I was 10 feet away from her, trying to help my husband browse the loose, individual Elfa components. I saw an employee approach my child with a look of confusion, at which point when I stepped a bit closer and made eyecontact, I detected a hint of annoyance. "Did you need something" she says. Not, may I help you? Not, can I assist you? Or even, what can I do for you? I dunno... it just seemed mildly rude at first. Then, yes, we had a question. The Elfa components like shelves and baskets and stuff were all priced. Even the brackets were priced. But the slats were not (the bits that actually secure to the wall). We wanted to know how much they were. My husband was actually holding one in his hands. As I could tell she seemed annoyed at my child, I went that 10 feet over to be closer to her, and remove her from the chair she was quietly sitting in. When I turned around, I noticed that my husband was apologizing to the woman, saying that "sorry I wasn't aware it worked that way". When he came to me I asked and he said that you have to put a top rack up high from which to hang the other vertical mounts and that those pieces were all different prices depending on what we wanted to do. I looked back at the woman and she said, "If you'd just tell me what you're trying to do with them because they all do different things". I get it... it's a track system. Now tell me how much the "tracks" are lady. My husband asked if the heavier-duty tracks were on the opposite side of the store. She said yes, so we practically ran from this woman. Don't want to help us? Want us to feel bad about having our child in a store? Want to make our shopping as complicated as possible and make us feel like we can't belong to your exclusive Elfa club? Well, you did that in very short time, lady. On the opposite side, we found EVEN MORE cool accessories, tracks, baskets, shelves... you name it. None of the vertical slats were priced. Again. Then we saw a male employee. My husband approached him, and again reached for one of the smaller vertical slats to ask about a price. THE SAME WOMAN practically sprang from an adjacent aisle before my husband could finish asking and the male employee pointed him to her. (was she following us?!) "What's, what's the issue here?" She said! THE ISSUE? We weren't being rude. We just wanted a price. My husband asked about a price. Nicely. I think he said "sorry" about 20 times in 3 very stuttered sentences... he's shy, and bless his heart, he doesn't do very much shopping... or like it. So you can imagine my excitement when he ASKED to go shopping for something. "Look," she says, "it all depends on what you want to do, ok? Like, what are you trying to do?". My husband began to stutter. I could tell by how red his cheeks were glowing that she was also making him angry. Asking about prices makes us nervous. So, I stepped in. "What's up? They don't have prices?" I asked of him. She answered for him "I mean, I could give you prices if that's what you want but the way this works is that we try to work with you on what you're designing and then... you know what? Why don't you just visit the Elfa site. You can design whatever you want there and get a good idea of what you want there." OHHHHHHH. I didn't realize I could buy things on the internet, lady. We were bummed. I could tell she'd just taken the wind out of my husband's sails. On the way out, I spotted an end-cap in the kitchen-organization area that had Elfa product and baskets and stuff and decided to check it out. You know what I found... PRICES! (Well, not on everything but at least on ONE piece of track just to give us an idea of a jumping off point - not expensive... so I don't get it). I also found a fellow customer who told me ALL about Elfa product and sang it's praises. We returned to the car empty-handed and pissed. We'd just been basically shooed away from what should have been a simple "Ohhh! Let me show you some options. See this simple set up, this runs $blah blah blah dollars. And this one here is $blah blah blah dollars." How hard would that have been? I think they're trying to push design services... which we DON'T need. Just no need to be rude to us. Expensive and spent 1 hour in here no one working came and asked if I needed assistance. This place is very overwhelming because of the mass amount of containers so being short staffed and having employees who just walk around aimlessly and without anything to do and neglect customers does not compel me to spend my money. read more

I came in today to do some planning for organization of barbie and lego Christmas gifts. I wish I could remember the gentlemen's name that helped me but he was fantastic! He didn't pressure me to buy anything right now, helped me figure out the different items I wanted to purchase, gave me paper to write down everything I wanted, and gave me an in-depth tour of the closet which I now, TOTALLY HAVE TO HAVE! I found everything I need and I already knew what to expect as far as prices were concerned. I will be back!! read more

I went into the Container Store for food storage containers and they had a great selection. Unfortunately, though the displays were nice and organized, the price tagging was not. I bought a product that was marked as 4.99 and charged 7.99 instead. I checked the product myself and yes, it was tagged at 4.99. When I brought this to the attention of the clerk she basically shrugged and said "It's different." There was only one tag on the shelf and it was clearly represented to be the price of the product I picked up. I don't know how the rest of the retail world does it, but my experience has always been that if you don't mark your product clearly and accurately then the incorrect tag is the price you pay: a penalty for the merchandising mistake. There was no offer to adjust the price. No offer to help choose a different product. Just complete indifference. Cool. I returned the product ( I had originally bought four ) and now Target is going to get my money instead. read more

I had to write this review because of the amazing service I got today at the container store off of Creedmoor road. My husband and I found a shelving unit we loved and a worker there named Kevin helped us out. He told us there was only one left in the system and went back to go get it. One of the shelves was busted so he substituted it for a different one and gave us 50% off! And it was already on sale! He told us that they were being discontinued because a lot of people were bringing them back as they didn't install them correctly, and broke the wood. He then showed us how to correctly, easily, and carefully install the unit, all without making me feel like an idiot. He was very honest about it all, which I really respect because we could have just as easily decided not to buy it after hearing about the problems other people were having. Kevin then helped us load the shelving unit into my car. Thank you Container Store for hiring such a respectful, honest, and knowledgeable person, and thank you Kevin for your help! read more

My husband and I went by tonight to pick up some mattress bags and boxes for our upcoming move. We've always liked this store in the past because of the selection of products, however tonight's experience really left us shaking our heads. As we walked in there were numerous sales ladies walking around that didn't acknowledge us or even crack a slight smile. No problem....we got our items and headed to the register. There were two lanes open. We got behind a customer with a cart full of items. We noticed that the cashier on the other side was finishing up with her customer so we went over to her line. The sales lady looked right at us, turned off her light and said "I'm going to need you all to go to the other line". I said okay and headed over as she had asked. She then came over to this line and catered to the lady spending much more than we were. We waited, and waited and waited some more before getting fed up and decided to leave. We left our 6 small items at the register and walked out. Now, we typically do not leave our items for someone else to put back but come on- your customer service tonight was lacking to say the least. Thanks but no thanks Container Store. I have LOVED the container store for so many years, it makes me sad to write this... I have been to the Raleigh store twice since moving here from Atlanta. The first experience was very negative while buying elfa components. There is a woman that works there that is very aggressive and so much that I was actually upset after leaving, enough to even call a friend and tell them what had happened. Decided it must have been a fluke so went back agan today, and just left the store after driving an hour to get here and pick up more elfa components. I want to cry with frustration because they said they could not sell any elfa requiring cuts until next Wednesday. Well they could sell them, but would have to be picked up next Wednesday because the sale ending Monday had them too behind to service in-store customers. I only needed 2 top bars cut so I could hang my closets this weekend and they wouldn't do it. Everything else I needed was off the shelf. They said the other orders that came in via Internet had to be done first. So disappointed and hopefully someone will figure out why this store is so horrible with customer service. The Atlanta stores are the exact opposite as are all the other Container Stores I have been in. If I continue to shop at Container Stores, I will drive back to Atlanta or Charlotte. I can't help but think it was that same woman I had an issue with last time that was refusing to help, even though the store was almost empty. read more
