Everyone who knows me should keep me out of this store. Any time I walk into a business that sells storage containers or office supplies, trust me, you do not want me in there. I am obsessed and you will see me walk out with more supplies than I came in for. I've heard/seen this place many times but I never actually step foot into this store until I needed some containers for my tarantulas. You heard it, tarantulas. I came across these cute little clear AMAC boxes that were PERFECT to house my Ts. From then on, I kept coming in to get more as my Ts grew. I plan on coming back to get some storage boxes for my shelf or if I need any kitchen equipment. SERVICE: All the employees here were nice and went out of there way to help me find things around the store. PARKING: There is meter parking right outside of the store but you would usually find empty spaces on the weekdays. First time ever setting foot in a Container Store and I fell in love! I love how bright the store is and how colorful it can get with the variety of colors! Literally buying all of my necessities here when I get a future house. Easy to find everything with their labels and the way they set everything out. I like transparency. I like things that are to the point. I don't like to guess what's in the store I'm going to...Such as Bed Bath and Beyond. What on earth is Beyond?! Having said that, the Container Store does not lie to you or make you wonder what kinds of items you will find in their fine establishment. It's straight and to the point. Containers. And if you don't like it, then too damn bad, you can go check out the Beyond section at that other store. This is a store dedicated to containers! And if you're an OCD person like myself, you will appreciate this little organization wizard gem that this store is. Remember those installation "wizards" on old PC computers back in the day, this is essentially that, but for real life. This is the first time I went to this location. Only ever went to the San Diego location before. The interiors of all the locations are nice & have a good selection of items. This Pasadena location to me though isn't in a good location since it's right on the corner of an intersection amongst other shops & eateries. It's very hard to get nearby parking & if you've bought lots of large items, it's going to be a hassle getting them in the car since you have to park along the busy streets & there's no spacious parking lot. The area kind of reminds me of Gaslamp Quarter in downtown San Diego. read more

Heaven for neat-freaks, compulsives, or people expecting houseguests! Some of their offerings are inspired, a few seem silly, and some are exactly the things you've been trying to find. (Hello, glass drink holders for the fridge! Hello, amazing looking shelf liners that never actually make it onto my shelves, but give me hope! Come to mama.) My only gripe: The parking is across the street, down the block, and up an elevator. How to get big purchases home without making a spectacle of yourself, or dropping your new "storage solutions" in the middle of Union Street? (I didn't know about the valet parking, and even now, that seems overly complicated.) Love the big elevators! They make me feel weensy. Okay, a clean store..with easy to find products.. and extremely, extremely friendly, helpful, non-harrassing employees who actually seem to care that your experience here is a GOOD one.. You might just be able to forgive the prices! Or at least wait for a sale and splurge major. Every time I pass by this place I give it the finger. Seriously. Why? Because it's nothing more than a presumptuous, over-priced mess of a store. Sounds harsh, but hear me out. First of all, good luck finding parking. After circling around the block several times, we finally found a private lot that cost $10 for only an hour! WTF?! I obviously went into this store with high hopes considering that parking alone cost more than my dinner! Secondly, this store claims to be your gift-wrapping headquarters for Christmas. Oh, sorry, no -- I mean for the "Holidays." That said, all their gift wrapped was totally lack luster, and though they had Hanukkah-themed items, I didn't see any Christmas-themed items. Ugh. The rest of the store was pretty disappointing, too. It was nothing more than an over-priced IKEA. To prove it, I bought a faux-leather storage box that was labeled on sale for $15. My husband checked out and didn't realize that I saw the item as marked on Sale - we were charged $27! By the time we got our senses together we were already home, so I figured we might as well keep and assemble the dang thing. I then, in a very scientific fashion, put it right next to my $12 IKEA-made faux-leather box of the same size - IT WAS NEARLY IDENTICAL! In fact, the box we got at Container Store even said MADE IN SWEDEN! Though this place does have some interestingly sized and shaped smaller containers, I will make a purpose to do all my shopping for such random items online before I head to this place again. I've loved this location of their store the best in SoCal mainly that the place is beyond spacious for all the shoppers to pick their way through all their organization ideas. Staff here are helpful but leave you alone if you don't need the assistance, which is nice for introverts like me :). My only qualm here is good ol' Old Towne Pasadena can get hectic on the weekends, so nabbing a meter or a free 90 mins free parking at one of their nearby lots can get tricky. read more

That being said- it is worth noting that there are two of these branches within miles of each other in Pasadena. And what does that say of the inhabitants of Pasadena...? It leaves a lot to ponder. Man o Man, The Container Store is a pretty cool place. They have so many different storage solutions available, not to mention all the other knick knacks. I had to stop in to pick up some parts for a shelving system and as soon as I walked in I was greeted by the staff. I showed them what I needed and they directed me to it and also called an associate over to that area to help me with any questions. I was in and out in no time thanks to the friendly and helpful staff. I would like to return when I am not in a rush so I can check out the whole store. read more

I suggest you check it out online before heading to the store. There may be deals and specials going on (both online AND in-store) that the salespeople will be ignorant of, and thus, you'll miss out on some deals. For example, there's a 25% off entire store deal going on as I type this review but I got none of THAT piece of news as I made my purchase yesterday. The only staff I saw at the store were behind the old ladies behind the counter, and they were pretty tight-lipped and seemed to be eager just to take my money. You can do the valet, which costs depend on how much you spend. However, if you go in the middle of the week right after work like I did, you can find metered street parking easily. It's $1.25/hour but since the general atmosphere of the store is as cold as it is organized, I'm usually in and out within 30 minutes ($.50) at most. There aren't any aisle descriptions, so you're better off just finding it online and picking it up in-store -- if you have to go to this location AT ALL. read more

Well well well. I had no idea that this store existed. I was pleasantly surprised with the selection and wonderful ideas that this store creates for your living space. I got a rolling cart thing that you can put your groceries in when you do a Costco run... DO NOT ORDER CURBSIDE PICK UP FROM THIS STORE. I came at the instructed time to pick up my ordered item and followed the email instructions for pick up. There were about 20 people waiting already. I waited and waited and waited... no staff showed up for anyone to bring their items. I finally gave up. No one answered the store phone nor the corporate customer service line. Horrible service. First off I traveled far to come to this location because the items would all be available for pick up. I was going to pick up an order for a client I work with. First walked in and no greeting. There was eye contact made but nothing ,not a hello. Anyway looked around the store before getting my order. There were employees all round passing me not asking if I need help or anything. Found an item I was looking for Then went to check out But standing there waiting for someone to be at the register. A Lady that worked there was standing at the front pacing back-and-forth for whatever reason. She looked at me once in a while but nothing . Another worker standing a few feet away not even noticing I'm there waiting to check out. Finally wave at the lady pacing back and forth gets the guys attention a few feet away to help me. Just Bothered me because I was coming from such a long ways to come to this store. I was really excited to visit the container store ! Had high expectations that this was a professional business being run. That customers are important. So I eventually got my Oder when I parked out front by store but the number they gave me to call when I was out front. The number went to a lady on the other end. She kept asking about my order being active or something. I was confused to say the least. And I said lady all I know is my order is ready the front already knows it's ready. The guy said to call this number and my items were in a cart in bags already , I know because they showed me my items. This went back and forth her asking this question. We hang up and I already knew that no one was going to get my order. Just sitting in my car finally someone comes out but NOT with my items. The pacing lady was helping someone behind me when she walked pasted I flagged her down and I asked if I can get my items please. she's said you want me to bring them out? Ummm yes. In my head I'm like what the freak do you think lol The Lady said okay I'll bring that out. Painstakingly got all my items in the car and got out of there . Okay so my husband has major OCD so nothing I do to my closet and drawers seems perfect. I decided to do some online searching and came across this store, Seriously I had no clue there was a container store, but again I've never been organized with my room so I guess it never crossed my mind until I got married and "MY" closet started stressing out my husband. He doesn't need containers to keep his closet organized but I Do!!! And this store is perfect, exactly what I needed to put an end to our closet war! Got myself some front drop shoe containers, bags to store my purses, hanging shelves, belt hangers, scarf hangers and whole bunch other stuff to start my closet organization process. I'm looking for forward to this change and hope to continue keeping my closet nice and neat. I had originally placed an order online to get it picked up the next day as it was stated online but when I arrived to the store they said my order wouldn't be ready for another week so came back again to find out half my order was again not ready, if I knew this from the getco i would have just ordered it to get it delivered, it's been a hassle to drive back and forth for something that was supposed to be ready the next day and now it has turned to be a 3 week process. I even got a phone call saying my order was ready and when I went in to the store they didn't even have my stuff and couldn't find my order # or my name in the system. Buyer Beware! Ordered and paid for closet "installation", but was not told until after spending considerable time working with an agent that the "installation" still requires you to come and pick up all the pieces for their "installer" to complete? They recommended a third party service be used for the pickup but they do not assist with any aspect of the pick up or scheduling?! Completely idiotic system and not worth the money or hassle. Especially as the recommended service (Dolly) was unprofessional and unreliable, resulting in several rescheduling attempts for our installer because the supplies were not delivered in time! Just all around an embarrassing waste of time and money and wouldn't recommend or use their closet system again. read more

This is really more of a review of the service than the store itself... That being said, it is incredibly impressive how such a large store, full of knick-knacks can be SO clean and organized all the time. I know that is important when you are selling the concept of cleanliness and organization, and they really do sell that well. I cannot say I shop there personally often, as it is pricey, and while I find myself getting mooney-eyed over every two tiered cupcake carrier, and color coordinated shoe organizer in the place, I know I do not NEED those things *sigh*. However, I do get a lot of things there for work, and currently we are in the middle of a large project that required 50 count of a small item they carry. They did not have what I needed fully in stock, so I bought what they had, and the salesperson told me that there would be more on the truck coming in a few days. For the record, he also informed me that there was no guarantee that they would be dropping off all of them at their store, and unfortunately, unless I did a special order, that was the only way to guarantee the amount I needed. The special order however, would take too long, so I hoped for the best. When the shipment arrived....it was not enough. I was still going to need 25 more, and I was in a bind. General Manager, Rhea Roberts, did not skip a beat, and went SO above and beyond excellent customer service by arranging a personal pick up from another store and a delivery to the Pasadena location. This was not an expensive purchase mind you, and she did not know my purchase history there, she just saw an unhappy customer, and handled the situation. I received the product the next day, and it literally SAVED my project. Thank you Rhea, and the rest of the Container Store staff for being so helpful and appreciative of your customers! I will gladly pay the extra money for that kind of service! Now...where is that Cupcake Carrier???? read more

I love this place, I love CONTAINERS! Whenever I am in Pasadena, I would want to come into this store, just to see what awesome containers is in stock. I can spend hours on end in there and never leave. Looking for things that will help me be more organized and in control! Staff members are very knowledgeable, I was looking for puddy to hold items down on to the glass. They introduced me to Museum Gel, it works like WONDER! Just $10 a pop. A wondrous, but dangerous place!! Wondrous, because there's an answer ("Yes, of course we have something like that!") to any of my storage challenges. Dangerous, because one has to be mindful of prices and one's budget. Also, it's easy to get caught up in many "Oh, wow, look at this" moments, so it's good to go when one has time to spend. After a lengthy, desperate online search for an AFFORDABLE item of specific dimensions for a teeny-tiny space in my little-itty-bitty 1922 house, I found it as I walked through the door of the Pasadena location. My home life has recently undergone some dramatic changes, so it's good to know I can find what I need here. Next visit, when I get paid, will be to find some long-durable storage boxes for four generations of yearbooks, etc., as the cheap cardboard ones they are now in are disintegrating by the year. read more

It is definitely called the container store for a reason. There is a wide array of both small and large containers and tons of gift bags! I walked in not really knowing what I wanted to purchase but walked out with quite a few little things for my new place. Many of the trash cans were very nice and high quality but way too pricey. I settled for a cheap trash can for the bathroom and decided to buy the other ones else where. I think the best part about this store is their selection of hangers and bathroom organization items. Only sucks that the parking garage next to the store is so expensive instead of being the free for 90 minutes like many other parking garages. read more
