Absolutely love this store. It's not the cheapest place to get organizing items but you can find specific/unique items here. The staff is typically friendly and usually has tips but recently it seemed they have been overwhelmed and too busy to assist customers. Since the Netflix home edit series came out it's been a mad house. It's definitely not the largest Container store so I find that things are out of stock. But you can always check online before you make the drive. read more

Online orders that the store don't carry cannot be returned unless it's in the original box as a complete set. Most items are overpriced and intermittent sale is a joke. I LOVE the container store! A person can spend a whole day just walking around looking at things in which to put things! I have a lot of stuff, and this place is a dream. I can just imagine how much better my life would be if everything were in a container. How nice. How organized! :] Ahhhhhhhhh...peaceful. Absolutely the worst. I ordered items that are available in this store when I placed the order but was told to come pick up the items in 10 days. Ok that's no biggie. Then on the day that I'm supposed to pick up the items, I was asked to wait again because the clerk said that they are still filling the orders. I mean seriously, I ordered the items 10 DAYS AGO. You can't be seriously still filling my order when I was there at the time you asked me to come pick up and then asked me to wait even more. To add insult to injury, I was asked if they can cancel my order and just find my items in the store. I told them I got the coupon and the online pricing and initially I was told they can't honor that. Only until I protested, they caved. Unbelievable and unacceptable. read more

So many containers, it's really mind-boggling! The last excursion I had here I was looking for a tea bag caddy. I ended up buying one, along with a few glass suction-snap close jars. So far all three of the containers are holding up REALLY well. Minus one star because of the price though. After I bought the tea bag caddy, I walked into another store and found a similar one for $20 less. I love organization, and an organized organization store is as awesome as it gets! There are definitely cheaper organization options, but few have it down to a science like container store does. They have practically every type of container/organizational nick nack available. And there are a lot of sales, so keep an eye out for them, esp the ELFA sales that typically happen around Oct and Feb...30% off! We've ELFA'd 3 of our closets so far; the first one, I had an installer do it, but if you can follow directions and have a half day of free time, I would say to save yourself a couple hundred bucks and install it yourself; that's what I did for our other closets...and prob gonna finish off the entire set with one more. There's no container store near us, so we have a choice between here and Pasadena; and I definitely like it better here. The parking is much easier(you have to pay at Pasadena, unless you get lucky and get a meter that has time left on it, he he he) and it's just easier to get in and out. And this container store is all one level, so it makes getting around a little easier. Staff is friendly and very helpful as well. I've never had a complaint so far. read more

Do not plan on any elf's project involving elf's shelves. I tried to redo our pantry and had to order everything on line. It involved two walls so it was better to make two orders to get everything needed using their builder. Both orders were placed on 2/6/21. Order 899111202495 Was picked up on 3/1. Order 899111202669 was promised for pickup 3/12. I was notified on 3/12 that they only had 2 of the 18 ordered. They said verbally mid April they might have them. Who plans a pantry with 8-9 weeks or even more, who knows when to get some shelves. Returned the first order today which took 2 hours. No apology or more importantly an explanation. While there for the return I noticed the shelves were half or more empty,why? read more

The customer service I received on a very busy Sunday was outstanding. The staff names I recall are Rhea, Justin, Carlo, and Michael. Each of them, despite the demands being made on them, took time to help me find what I needed in a quick and efficient manner. The clerk at checkout was courteous to all in line and handled a complicated transaction for a person in front of me very well. The selection of products is vast. Visited this store this morning- the are boxes everywhere and a large number of staff unpacking and shelving items. The store was hot and stuffy and the checkout line stretched all the way to the rear of the store. I asked two different groups of staff if more registers could be opened- one said she had to do stocking and the other that they already had the allotted number of checkers. Neither acknowledged the problem or spoke with a manager. Boxes more important than cash in hand customers? read more

This has been my favorite store for years. I've been introduced to this store in the late 1990s lol and I'm still a big fan. I've gone to the Pasadena and the El Segundo/Manhattan Beach location, as well. These stores, and this one in particular is extremely clean, organized, and very well stocked with lots of unique type of container items. The store is intelligently designed in various household sections such as the kitchen area, the laundry area, the closet area, the bedroom area, things needed for the home office, the bathroom area, a travel area, a locker room area, a gifting/packaging area, a garage area, dorm area, and a hobby area. If one comes to this store for one item, that will not be the outcome. The only negative I have for this and all Container Stores are their itty bitty little shopping carts. It would be nice if we could use a bigger sized shipping cart to accommodate the multiple large storage containers. Other than that, this place still gets 2 thumbs up!! read more

I don't know what it is about this location but I've been in multiple times in the last few months and every employee aside from the cashiers look absolutely miserable. So much so, I would rather wander the store than ask any of them for assistance. Unfortnately on one particular visit I did in fact need help from an employee. I walked over to a man that was at the desk in the very back of the store and asked if someone could pull down a trash can that was not on the floor display, so I could determine if I wanted to purchase said trash can. The lady that helped me emitted this negative energy like it was such a burden for her to do her job and help a CUSTOMER. I get it, we all have bad days but I have seen the same exact lady on ALL of my vists and she always looks like she hates her life.‍ I WILL be asking for her name if I come across her on today's visit. read more

Nice products and generally friendly staff. One of the managers (don't know her name) is very rude and curt with customers. However, the other staff has been nice. There is no hand sanitizer or wipes for carts (there used to be, I don't know when that went away, but I would think that would be something that most stores should keep even after Covid, it's just good hygiene) and they do not wipe things down, so just be aware of that and bring your own hand sanitizer. Purchased closet shelves and drawers to be installed in our guest room. We worked with John and came up with a workable set up. We were told they'd take down any existing shelves and poles, patch the wall and paint the closet. We were asked if we wanted to use their basic white paint or if we had paint we wanted them to use. We went with their paint since we didn't have any. Well, to our surprise when we looked at the final product they'd only painted a strip of wall where the shelf was! I called the store 3 times and left messages for John and finally heard back from him the following day. He in our conversations he'd clarified that they'd only paint the part of the wall that they patched. Well, my wife and I spoke to him on two different occasions and never understood that to be the case. If we'd known, we'd have painted the interior of the closet before the product was installed! And if we chose their paint why couldn't he say something like, "If you use our paint it may not match the paint that's already in your closet, do you realize that?" Seriously, why would anyone use their paint knowing it wouldn't match and look terrible? Now we're having to contact our handyman to see what he'll charge to paint the closet and see how much of the shelves and drawers he'll need to remove to do the job. We already paid just under $400 for the installation! We have 2 more closets to do but it won't be with The Container Store. read more

I really like the people at the Container Store! A super team! We had some Elfa storage installed in our closets. Kaveh did our install on two closets. What a great character & super quality work! Kaveh was a true professional. Additionally, I got some great help from Carol ( super lady from Glasgow) and Melody! Carlos is great too! All of them were great to work with and super helpful even though they were very busy. Also, I love the Elfa product. It is great quality and great looking! What a great design too. The product is made in various locations Sweden, Norway, Slovenia, Denmark, etc. and really great quality!!! Thx! If you look close enough you can find good quality products at the Container Store from Vietnam, Italy, France, Sweden, Philippines etc. Jars, containers, bottles etc. Great stuff! While the Container store has a lot of items from China that have that toxic smell and are of low quality, you can look through their merchandise and find a lot of items from other countries with great quality. My first time here but been to other locations. There is plenty of parking in the shopping center. The store is pretty big and very organized. I came here for the drop front shoe boxes for all of my sneakers and luckily they had plenty in stock. I came at a good time too when they had them on sale for $7.99 instead of $9.99. Wife was getting a ton of ideas for storage/decor for our little place but had to drag her away before we spent too much money. There were several cashiers so I didn't have to wait in line. I purchased 10 shoe boxes and the cashier offered to box them up. But I denied since it's easier to scatter them in my trunk and back seat. The cashier was friendly and easy to talk to since she started the conversation that other guys have been buying the same boxes recently. The first time I saw this place, I kind of laughed. A store..for containers. I've seen it all now. And then I vowed I'd never enter the store...because come on now! Who needs this much organization in their life?? Until the fateful day when I needed a hanging accessory holder for the closet and the only freaking place that had the one I wanted was The Container Store. So i decided i would just order it online to avoid going in. Until i perused the rest of the website..and realized there were so many things they had that i needed in my life! Shut the macbook down, and decided to pay a visit. Located across the street from South Coast Plaza off of S Coast Dr and Bear St in the Metro Pointe Plaza, there is plenty of parking, though people get a little..paranoid..at the 4way stop right next to the entrance of the store. Crosswalks are also kinda funky. Anyhow, I walked in to be OVERWHELMED by how many organizational items actually exist on this planet haha. I found the "LBD" shaped organizer that I wanted, and ended up wandering aimlessly around the store. They sell a rather interesting and unique assortment of containers of all sizes and purposes- from the little ones you use for paperclips, to ones for makeup storage on your vanity, even large ones to use in your garage. WITHOUT an outrageous price tag that some other stores tack on! I walked up and down every aisle, finding the registers in the front with a small basket of items instead of my one little dress. Oh man.. You can organize anything and everything with one stop to this store. We've already organized everything for our move in a few months because I can't stop spending $$ here!! Overall it's pretty impressive, even if you aren't OCD. I would for sure come here to buy containers to store the little's outgrown baby clothes to save for the next one(s), or to keep our snow gear all together in the garage for the next season. I can't believe all of the things i have found under one roof for so many different projects/needs. I don't get to come to the container store too often due to the distance, but when I do, I prefer containers. Containers of all sizes, shapes, and forms that is! Again, how can there be a place that is surviving this brutal economy by selling just one type of item? Containers of all things? This is where you are wrong buddy! I do believe deep down in our human thoughts process and interests that we like things that hold things. (what do you call those Russian dolls again that holds another little doll? Yeah, those!) So when I'm there at the container store, I'd browse through each and every aisle, analyze each of the containers, and the funny ending is that I always walk out with something... Let's steer back on course here... If you are looking for containers for any occasion such as food, travel, medical, pets, hygiene, toys, laundry, list goes on and on, you will have no problem finding them here. I was looking for a leak proof bottle and sure enough they got that too! Do you know how hard it was to find a "true" leak proof bottle around other than ordering online? I knew I would love this store but I also wanted to hate it........because it is so expensive. However, after biting the bullet and dropping $120 on clear plastic stackable containers that slide out, I checked the price against Target and this store was actually cheaper. So yeah, it's kind of expensive but the quality to justify the extra bucks seems to be worth it. They also sell some really fancy wrapping paper there, thick crisp stuff with grid lines on the back. Again, it's $7 a roll but hey, if you're going to spend a lot of money on a gift, wrap that puppy up right. read more

I don't know their own prices and if it doesn't come up correct on the computer they will not go and help you find out the actual price. If Heaven was on earth, this would definitely have to be a part of it. We're so lucky to have one in SoCal since there aren't a ton of places in the US. It's similar to Costco and Target, you go in thinking you might only need one or two things and come out with a basket full. This place has literally thought of the most innovative storage/container ideas! Things you never thought you would have needed but realize you do once you see it. They have an awesome travel section too. Because of all of this imminent awesomeness, it gets busy on weekends. But they always have a good amount of lines open and the staff is always friendly. I recommend their free rewards program too because you get coupons via email and in the store. They aren't always the cheapest place but they are definitely the best for all your home storage and travel needs. They have great wrapping and gift tags around the holidays too. I tried their Click and Go process too. Order online, schedule a pickup and go in the store and get your items. It's pretty simple. There's a button at the front that you push and someone will bring you your order from the back. I've collected Kidrobot Dunny's for quite some time, and I finally got around to getting some cases for my precious toys. I looked absolutely everywhere -- online, in person, and beyond the ultimate nature of being and the world. It wasn't until I found a thread of a Kidrobot forum in which someone mentioned the Container Store. The closest store was out in Costa Mesa, but it was worth the chance of maybe finding the elusive cases. Sure enough, I found the cases I was looking for -- in tons of sizes and variations! Well, only two sizes and variations, but that was more than enough! As I was heading to the cashier with my cases in tote, I managed to find tons of other stuff that I never thought I needed -- until that very moment. This is a fun store to browse around! If you're looking for gadgets for your house or literally any type of storage, this is the place to go! However, I think their prices are a bit higher or similar to other high-end stores, such as Crate and Barrel. I looked at their shoe racks and personally thought a lot of them were flimsy, yet still pricey, considering their sub-par quality. Everyone has already said what I've been thinking for YEARS. For the 'Real Simple' school of thought, this is heaven. Used to be next to impossible to leave here without purchasing SOMEthing. I get the translucent shoe boxes for my addiction. One of my prized pieces is their $6 Umbra trash can. I've seen them used in our Planet Hollywood (Las Vegas) hotel room. Mine? I've had it for a few years now. Just the right shape and size. Purchased one in a kelly green for my parents. For a birthday gift, I gave my sweetie a 7-peg wood rack to smartly display his marathon medals. Love it. Maybe this isn't the right time to write a review, but I'm pissed and I need to vent! I have always loved TCS but until recently, have not had the money to splurge on anything more than a box or two. Now that I've come into some extra time and cash, I've embarked on a couple of organization projects in my home. The first, a pantry re-organization, necessitated the purchase of six bins and seeing some I liked on TCS online, I decided to purchase. However, the shipping was OUTRAGEOUS so I decided to pick up at this Costa Mesa location. I live in Temecula but make trips into OC regularly, so I scheduled a pick up for a day I knew I would be in town. The day before my pickup, I found myself unexpectedly in Costa Mesa so I decided to stop by to see if I could pick my items up early. I went to the pick up counter and waited. And waited. And waited. Finally, someone comes to help me. She tells me that since I'm early the stock might not be ready. Now, let me emphasize again. These were SIX little bins I'm picking up. I probably could have walked over to the shelf and gotten them myself. She said that she would check if my order was ready and be right back. Another lady comes back and gives me the same lecture about my order not being ready because I'm a day early. I got this lecture THREE TIMES before someone finally came out with my six little godforsaken bins. While I was waiting for my bins from hell, I wandered around the store and noticed they were having an ELFA sale on their closet organization systems. I fell in love with their gliding shoe racks and convinced my husband that we should get a system for our closet. He agreed and I called ELFA to get help placing my order. The lady on the phone was very helpful and designed a system perfect for what I was looking for. I picked a day and time to pick up my system (since I planned on installing myself) and this time signed up for text notification for when my order would be ready, remembering the hell the staff put me through last time I came to pick up an online order. Lo and behold, I again find myself in Costa Mesa unexpectedly the day before my pickup. I wasn't even thinking of trying to pick up my order until I got a text notification that my order was ready. I called the store to confirm that it was ready and the girl told me, "If you got a text that means it's ready." Okay then. I get to TCS and staff are all smiles and friendly. A helpful sales assistant confirms I ordered white shelves, helps me load up my car and I drive off, eager to assemble my closet. Fast forward to today. I've spent the last 5 days cleaning out my closet, demoing shelves and racks and painting 2 coats of primer and 2 coats of paint on my closet walls (why someone would paint their closet orange I will never understand, but that's what the previous owners of my home did). I'm now ready to put together my ELFA system and get my closet back. Except. Whomever pulled the inventory from the warehouse for my order did it carelessly. HALF of my order is the correct WHITE color, and HALF is platinum. ????? Now, I understand that mistakes happen, and maybe I should have checked every single box before it was loaded into my car. But unfortunately for TCS this is the second bad experience in as many visits to their store that I've had. I'm going to call TCS in the morning to find out how they plan on rectifying this situation, but short of me having to wait a week plus for them to ship the correct inventory, the only solution I see is for me to drive an HOUR each way to the nearest TCS so I can correct their employee's careless mistake. Let's hope that TCS comes up with a better solution when I call them tomorrow (courier, anyone??). Maybe I've just been incredibly unlucky when it comes to customer service, but so far what I've experienced is hit or miss. I hope I get some satisfaction tomorrow. UPDATE: I called their customer service line and while they were very apologetic, the earliest they could deliver the corrected items would be Monday, 5 days from when I called, and they would give me a $25 gift card for my inconvenience. Having already been without a closet for a week I was unwilling to wait and felt a $25 gift card was not good enough to make up for my considerable inconvenience (it will take $70 in gas just to drive there and back), so she called the Costa Mesa location to confirm that the items were there and said that I would be negotiating with them on compensation for my return. I returned the items to Costa Mesa that day for a full refund, plus they gave me a $50 gift card in store credit for my trouble. I spent some more time shopping around the store after my return to get replacement parts. It didn't seem like there was enough staff to help guests but the staff members I did talk to were very friendly and helpful for the most part. I really love The Container Store...I discovered it on accident a few years back when I lived in Dallas. So I hunted one down when I came back to OC. I now come here once a year...solely for the wrapping paper! I visited last week around 6pm and got into the shopping center easily, found front row parking, spent a few minutes oohing and ahhhing at all the pretty paper, picked out my 2, checked out (no line) and was on my way. The staff is walking around offering assistance, the cashiers are super friendly (she honored my coupon, even though I didn't have it printed and just showed her it on my Blackberry!) so of course, I'll be back next November before South Coast Plaza becomes a suicide mission. read more

examples of failure in the system and customer service - experienced here. want to ruin your day,... then come here for a visit. made purchase last week, but earliest pick up was a week out. okay. store furnished a sheet showing order number (sales order number), order name (customer) and order total (total amount spent). arrive at their counter at 3:50pm to pick up. they had difficulties looking up my order under my name (10 minutes). searched my phone for pic of the pick up slip and showed them my order number, but was asked to come back at 6pm. I explained that I was not aware of any pick up time, only a date. the lady replied that they are unable to have my order ready before 6pm. I explained again of not being advised of a scheduled pick up time (nor was that on my slip that I took an image of) and she went to the warehouse, then returned stating that they 'may' be able to push that up to 5pm. I have my daughter and another infant with me - cold outside, raining and 25 miles away from home. as such, a definitive time would be important. she danced around in words, until she finally came around to state the 'person' in the warehouse said they would have ready by then (nice hand off from the accountability). thought I'd give a try speaking with another manager. went to see Beth, just several isles down who said - after I share my predicament, there's nothing they can do... all resources are tied up "that's why we specific a pick up time". "if we did this for you, it'll set others behind schedule". it's apparent these two are not in the service industry and disguised only as 'managers'. neither offered to take a closer look at my slip, or care to take down or mention that they'd suggest for improvement (pick up time and date, on the same pick up doc that shows order number and order name. this would simplify for the customer. maybe things would change with competition. their system should enable discretionary override for unexpected circumstances - but Beth just plain said 'no'. I guess managers at retailers are always right! I'm committed on never shopping here again, and using this experience as an example in lack of service and operational centric behaviors. it's no wonder that the trending of their stocks is eroding. read more

The Container Store - Home Decor Near Me - Costa Mesa, California

Things look so much fancier on counters when they're poured into those shnazzy Italian glass canning jars. Nowadays, my plain old pinto beans and oatmeal looks positively luxurious as they're hanging out side by side in the kitchen. The only thing I don't like about some of the stuff they carry at The Container Store is that a few items straight up stink. I don't mean that it's poor quality, but that it's cheap plastic. (I guess that kinda means the same thing). Considering that some of it is intended to *contain* food stuff, it seems to be an odd choice to carry. I'm not sure, maybe the stench washes away after you give it a good first rinse, but I never risk it, so I just go with glass. BTW, just walking the aisles here makes you feel like you're gonna get your life on track. It's a hopeless delusion, but a fun one while it lasts. read more
