Would have been 4 stars but I paid $4.25 for an absolutely miniscule side of mac and cheese ... for…read more$4.25, I expected a nice-sized cup. The cup was much more tiny than I expected and filled only halfway, which was basically 3 spoonfulls of mac and cheese. Onto the review ... I have been on a junkfood kick lately. It's almost embarassing to see how many of my past reviews are for fast food. I have literally gone up a waist size in a few months and had broken the habit. Super stressed from work and craving something naughty, I surprised myself by pulling into this Popeye's as I drove past. It is like my need for calories and fat completely took over my willpower. I ordered their original chicken sandwich (spicy) and a side of mac & cheese. Popeye's Mac & Cheese is really second to none. I knew Tony Bourdain a bit. He was in my second layer of contacts ... and often he would stop into a Popeye's and get a large side of mac & cheese. It was a guilty pleasure for him and that's how I know it is good stuff. The chicken sandwich was otherworldly tasting after several months of being good diet-wise. I could literally probably think about it during sex to perform better ... thats how good it tasted. The crunch was perfect ... the spicy orange sauce wasn't overwhelming but instead a creamy complimemt to the chicken. The pickle slices added some tanginess and the bread didn't do anything except make it easier to eat vs. some sandwiches where the bread fights for top billing. The chicken was thick and filling. Though I could have easily driven back around and eaten another, one filled me up. I have tried Chick Filet, Raising Cane's and KFC and there is no comparison. Popeye's wins hands down. Chick Filet is no slouch, as Ty Webb would say. But Popeye's original chicken sandwich was practically orgasmic. Eating it was like hearing The Beatles for the first time in Mono. Sure, Popeye's gets some hate. The workers here weren't trained well and 3 cars at the drive through took almost 20 minutes to get through. But the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow was tje ecstacy of fast food that tasted like it did when I was a kid 20 years ago vs. the literal shit most drivethroughs serve now.

This restaurant is in an unassuming house that I even got lost when I was originally looking for it. Turns out, you just have to find the house with the 51 on top of the door! The patio is covered and quite a nice space. We all got drinks and I have to say - their bartender impressed me for sure. I was working that night so I couldn't drink any alcohol, but I told my waiter what kind of flavors I would want in a mocktail and the bartender whipped up something extremely delicious and very fitting for me which made me happy! As for food, the spicy chicken impressed me with the spice. Normally I can handle a good amount but this was very spicy, but in a great way. Fries were also good. Would definitely come back for drinks and light dinner with friends! Parking is on the street. Patio has good vibes :)

Parking is all street, and the restaurant itself is tucked into the neighborhood without much signage--look for the big door with "51" overhead so you don't miss it. Drinks were a highlight: punchy, strong, and super refreshing--exactly the kind of cocktails that make you want to linger a little longer. My girlfriend wanted a mocktail since she was working that night, but didn't know exactly what she wanted. She asked for fruity, refreshing, and sour - and they whipped up a custom mocktail and truly delivered! Pretty good prices too. Waitstaff was awesome and bartender knows what they're doing. Food-wise, I'd definitely recommend the fries (crispy and addictive), the chicken (go for spicy if you can handle heat--it's legit but balanced), and the dahl, which was comforting and flavorful. The crudo was refreshing but portion-wise a bit on the smaller side, so I'd probably skip that next time. Overall, really enjoyed the vibe here--chill, modern, and it would make a really cute date spot. Would definitely come back for the drinks and small plates.

The customer service was excellent, and luckily we got there right before the line started, but they move very quickly. They had a bunch of different flavors. We chose five, and they were fantastic. In a blind taste test, I would not have been able to tell that they were vegan. The texture, the taste, everything about them was just right. I'm a big fan of sugar cookies, and their strawberry sugar cookie was perfect.
