Cosmic's wiener was solid with a soft, pillowy bun. The wiener itself was hot and tasty with a good bite (with no noticeable snap, as I prefer it.) Ordering "all the way" gets you mustard, onion, meat sauce, and celery salt. The meat sauce was more like finely chopped, seasoned meat, rather than sauce. I could have done without the celery salt as it seemed to add an slightly artificial taste. While hardly a an out-of-this-world "cosmic" wiener, overall, it was a very satisfying and tasty wiener.

Cosmic Pizza was home base for Pilgrim High School kids back in the '80s. The place we'd hit after basketball and hockey games, when pizza was fuel and community was guaranteed. Walking in tonight felt like stepping into a time machine, except everything's been upgraded. The location moved down the street from the original spot. Cleaner now. More modern. Brighter. The kind of place that kept what mattered and improved everything else. And the pizza? Better than it was back then. The place was packed. Standing room only with about fifteen people waiting for orders despite the ovens running full tilt. Tables full, to go orders flying out the door. A neighborhood spot that's clearly still doing what it's always done, just evolved. Rob, the manager, runs the room like he's conducting an orchestra in the middle of a rush. The place is buzzing, hectic, absolutely humming with activity, but he's got it all under control. And somehow, in the middle of all that, he still takes the time to talk to you. Makes it clear how grateful he is that you showed up. That's not just good service. That's genuine hospitality under pressure. The pizza justifies the crowd. The crust is what stands out first. Super light, airy, crispy in a way that feels almost delicate but still has structure. Not thin crust territory but not thick either. Just right for what they're doing. The sauce brings herbs forward. Savory, not sweet. You can taste the seasoning, taste the intent behind it. The cheese is quality stuff, melts right, browns in the spots that matter. Whatever toppings you order are going to be good because they're clearly not cutting corners on ingredients. The operation itself is something to watch. Tons of people working, all moving fast, all under pressure. But every single one of them smiles. Acknowledges you. Makes it clear they're grateful you showed up. That's culture, not accident. That comes from the top down through Rob to everyone on the line. Nostalgia can mess with your judgment. Makes you think things were better than they were. But Cosmic proves you can go back and find something actually improved. The energy is the same. The community feel is the same. Everything else got better. It's in a tuff spot; numbers of others have passed thru various tenancies with different ideas of how to accompany the farmstand creamie type ice cream business, but these two have somehow found the balance (imho). That balance includes not just the precisely focused menu and their astute assessment of a real need waiting to be filled; it also reflects the research, planning, work and personalities that are going to bring success. Adam and Donny have clearly done a lot of homework, not just with the business side, but culinary-wise. One does not just open a restaurant and hope for the best- especially with "real' (meaning, raw, scratch-prepared) product- even ice cream handling is scientific, and the scooping of it is a very precise maneuver with specific technics absolutely necessary. Whether Daisy's will establish a brand and grow, franchise, diversify, or just continue along as an exemplary demonstration of business acumen and personality profile to keep these kids happy just as it is, they have at least one customer who will keep coming back not just for the "Winter Blast" ice cream and the perfectly prepared chicken breasts not frozen patties), but out of a very strong fascination for observing and following whatever these two do into the future. The sandwich was amazing, perfect combo of Daisy's Chicken deliciousness with a kick of Jayd Bun's spicy sauce with some slaw. Looking over the menu there were a few items that I can't wait to come back to try. From specials like burnt in sausage, tenders, chicken and waffles, chipotle BLT, wings, heck they even have a vegan burger. We walked in thinking we could probably grab a drink or patron the restaurant to use their facilities and were greeted by the host with open arms. I asked what their shop was known for and she immediately said the Italian Stallion was their claim to fame. My friend and I decided we could share one. The ambiance is very casual and homey. As we waited I noticed a table of self serve water along with some board games. I helped myself to a glass and was started by how crisp and clean it tasted. I drank 4 glasses of that refreshing water and even complimented it to our waitress. She proudly thanked me and said that it was well water and the same water was used to proof the pizza dough. We did wait a bit (maybe 20 minutes or so), but it looked like it was made to order and we demolished the pepperoni calzone, sandwich. I never thought to have a pepperoni pizza as the bread part of the sando and the crisp lettuce combined with the pungent raw onion gave ever bite a different texture and burst of flavor. We were happy campers. I'm still thinking about that well water even a week later. I would definitely come back again.

Overall the food court looks the same with the layout; just newer and cleaner materials. The tables were plentiful in the middle. The great carousel was still there; I'm sure a newer version also. I think the carousel is a great touch and iconic one too; the kids love it. The restrooms were big and clean; parking is right outside and plentiful. There were a variety of food types to choose from. They also have restaurants on the property but outside; Longhorn and Not Your Average Joe's to name a couple. Overall, a large food court with plenty of options to choose from.

So when I saw they were on the RI FOOD FIGHTS #bestscoopshopri list, I knew I had to make a repeat visit. They added a giant giraffe since I was last here, a fun addition and perfect for a cute photo opp! The guy working the counter was very nice, and I selected Nutella for my scoop today. There's plenty of seating and the AC was working perfectly so I decided to sit in and enjoy my gelato. I am a lover of all things ice cream and that obviously includes gelato. Gelato by comparison is thicker, creamier. Like a cousin to the frozen custard of the midwest. This Nutella gelato had a deep, rich chocolate flavor with a chocolate drizzle on top. The hazelnut played a more subtle note in this scoop, but I didn't mind that at all. The chocolate drizzle hardened on top, breaking up the smooth texture and keeping the palate interested. Before long I was scraping cup, so it was time to move on. If you're in the area and want some delicious gelato, make sure to keep this spot on your radar!

Since it was a weekend, it was midday, and it was summer, there were barely any people in the plaza which made it very easy to park. I was originally just interested in getting ice cream, but when I saw their chicken, bacon, and ranch pizza, I caved in and got a slice. While they reheated the slice of pizza, I tried the pistachio gelato I ordered. It was not too sweet, and instead very nutty with chunks of pistachio. The pizza had a crispy and thin crust, with a good amount of each topping.

I got to the restaurant in Cranston their second location just after nine and the dining room was closed. But they have a take out window(not a drive-through, but a walk up) and I took my order to one of the two picnic tables in the front of the parking lot. The staff was very friendly and the meal was priced reasonably. If you are local to Cranston or Providence, and you enjoy a good hotdog, you should give Olneyville a try. It's a truly unique Rhode Island experience.
