This was the worst experience I have ever had at a Stone Mountain restaurant. I remember how delicious the food was about 5 years ago when I visited The Evergreen. I was advised to try The Commons this time. First, the food was scarce, picked over without utensils available to dip food onto your plate. Customers were standing around to wait on the staff to bring utensils out so that we could serve ourselves from this disorganized buffet. The dressing was pieces of dried crumbs which was left over from an early crowd. Not good. The cranberry sauce was left with juice and scraps of leftover cranberries. The salad was dried out to the point it made me not want to eat anything. Since we paid $106 dollars for this mess of a disappointing experience, we had to eat it. I will never eat at Stone Mountain restaurants ever again. I can not think of any one of the dishes that I enjoyed. Horrible experience for Thanksgiving' Dinner. They need better management desperately. Zero stars. I gave it one star because the lady that waited our table was nice. That's all. So very disappointing. read more

So I just got back from this restaurant and it seemed fairly decent. We discovered spiders on the ceiling above us and they let us switch tables. Also saw a large spider web I don't know if they just can't reach it but still. Food was decent. My kale side dish was inedible though the amount of salt was ridiculous. The REAL problem about my experience was our rude waitress. If there was 1 piece of food left on our plates she commented every single time about how we shouldn't waste our food. Not in a directly mean tone but in a very condescending "jokey" way. She wouldn't leave the table until somebody would then be forced to eat it because we all felt so uncomfortable. This probably happened about 6 times. And two of the times I refused to do it she made me feel guilty and wouldn't take my plate away. She made us feel like wasteful people and if I'm paying for my meal that is none of her business. Maybe telling us once was fine but her persistence upset me. When you get the hint that people are getting uncomfortable, that's when you should stop. read more

I have been eating at The Commons for over 20 years. This includes Homecoming and Prom from Parkview HS (back in 2000). I took my wife on our first date to this restaurant, and I proposed to my wife on the balcony here. My cousins all had their own dinner rehearsals here. We've never had anything but wonderful service and DELICIOUS food here!! HIGHLY recommend this Class Act Restaurant, and to any neigh sayers, treat people kindly, your service can sometimes reflect your attitude towards the Service, and vice/versa!!!! read more

OK, I admit it. I'm biased. Anytime I can eat my food and see water means this restaurant is going to get rated high. Nonetheless, The Commons at Stone Mountain golf course is one of my favorites. #1, you can eat outside on the lake. The last few times I have come, the customer service has been excellent. Today was no different. DeMarco, if I'm remembering correctly, is a gentle giant with excellent customer service skills. The food was delicious. My wife loves Stone Mountain and maintains an annual pass. This afternoon we decided to go there and walk. We also decided to try The Commons for dinner -- biggest mistake ever. You think you go to a place like this with your eyes wide open -- after all, it's the dining option of a golf course run by a hotel chain -- but it ends up being far less than that. The venue itself is nice, with a great view of the lake. The staff is very nice. We placed our order and then waited a very long time considering there was no one in the restaurant. The food arrived and first impressions were favorable, although, upon reflection, my wife's two small pieces of fried chicken and one side for $18 just weren't adequate. My pork chop looked impressive -- thick, great grill marks, a masterpiece on the plate -- but then then I cut into it. Tough and over-done. Now, as a cook from my high school days, I just don't send food back, but after a couple of bites of flavorless gristle, I had to relent. When a new chop was sent out after my wife had finished her dinner and returned from a walk, I shot her a glance as I tested the chop by placing a knife on top of it -- rubbery. Sure enough, when cut open it was raw in the middle. Upon it's return (after time long enough for an initial cook), the replacement chop may have been even more done than the first one. The charcoal smell from being crisped was discernible. We paid our bill and left. We won't return. read more

Waiter forgot my fried green tomatoes--which is the reason I wanted to go there...food took 45 mins to get to our table. Waiter was MIA throughout our meal. He then comes to say he'll give me a free dessert to make up for the missed fried green tomatoes. He even has me sign a slip for the dessert--then he NEVER brings it nor did he ever come back to the table. The restaurant was NOT busy. Food was okay--but with service like that, I could have gone to the grocery store and cook the meal at home and brought it to the restaurant faster... Will not return. My biggest regret is I tipped after he said he'd bring the dessert--I gave a 20% tip to a waiter who obviously had better things to do than wait on tables--guess he smoked or was on his smart phone having fun... I came here with my parents over the summer after we had just finished climbing Stone Mountain. My parents ordered burgers and I had the meatloaf and an order of mac n cheese. The food took FOREVER to arrive! Literally like an hour. And there were barely any people at the restaurant! When the food finally came, the sun had already set and we were completely starving. The food itself was decent and portions were very large. But service was so, so slow. It took like 10 minutes to get a refill of water. The view from the outdoor dining area is gorgeous. It's right by the this lake overlooking the Stone Mountain and you can watch a beautiful sunset here. But if this is how slow service normally is, I don't think the view is worth it. read more

Server had trouble remembering drink orders so we knew it'd be a bit rough. Salmon was overcooked, but salad, raspberry chocolate mousse cake and French onion soup were good. Tip was included automatically which is annoying. This country club restaurant sits on a golf course and is what you'd expect rich grandparents to enjoy. My family of 16 recently ate here when we were staying in the park. The staff was so accommodating and had the tables ready when we got there. We were sat right next to the fireplace. The look of the restaurant was very inviting. We had 8 children in our party and the staff was so helpful with them. Our drink and food orders were quickly taken. Gloria, our waitress, was so sweet and attentive to everyone's requests. Marco, the bartender, mixed up some great refreshments for some of the adults. The food arrived quickly and was hot and delicious. Our party ended up staying after closing time but no one seemed to be aggravated by this and even carried on conversations with some of our party while we were finishing up eating. It's a decent restaurant and but unfortunately it's a waste of time for vegetarians. I went there for dinner with my family when they came to Atlanta to visit us this past weekend but I ended up eating Fried Green Tomatoes and asparagus for my dinner since they do not offer a single vegetarian entree on the menu. We sat outdoors, the weather was nice, the view was beautiful but the entree options were disappointing for me. Those that ordered the steak, chicken and turkey burgers seemed happy with their choices so if you do eat meat it's likely a good place to go. read more

This place just has simply amazing food. The homemade quality of each dish is simply delicious. The view is spectacular and the service is very caring. I was pleasantly surprised that a Golf course restaurant could put out 5 star dinners that are at extremely reasonable prices particularly at lunch. My boyfriend and I ate here for dinner (reported on here closed at 5:30 but it's not) and it was delicious. We had the scallops for appetizer and they were so so good had caramelized bacon on top and the sauce was amazing!!! The brontosaurus beef rib was the best very flavorful and really tender. We had bananas and cream bread pudding to top it all off. Everything was really outstanding. I ate lunch here before a round of golf. Staff was very nice. They weren't busy at all. I ordered a bacon cheese burger with sea salt fries. Everything was delicious. Food took a little long, but that didn't bother me. Great view of the lake and mountain from where I was seated. Our servers name was Anthony and he was great. They had a huge reserved party that came in but that didn't occupy him enough to not attend to my small group as well. Prices were right for the location. Menu size was normal and had great options for all American foods. Would eat here again. read more

The food is excellent and sit by the windows for the mountain and lake view. Quite atmosphere to be able to talk with friends or let yourself think. Demarko was my waiter and he is excellent . I wish I could review the food, but we never made it that far. After being seated by a hostess that acted like she either really didn't like her job or would rather not be at work that day, we waited a good 10-15 minutes and were never waited on by a server. We came in late on a Friday and it was pretty empty but we got amazing service, food, and drinks. We got the pulled pork app, a burger, Mac and cheese, and sweet potato fries. The drink menu was great; I wish I had time to try all of them but we did try the spiked dr. Pepper, new fashioned, and the lemonade one I can't remember the name exactly as by then my night was getting a little fuzzy. After being ignored for 10 minutes, and explicitly requesting service, we got a "be with you in a minute". That minute turned into six, which was puzzling, given that there were only 8 people total distributed among three other tables, and three servers. The shrimp and grits were ok, but the pork chop was very disappointing. Dry, over cooked and totally tasteless. The horseradish potatoes were anything but - as much as I hate to use ketchup, it was a survival necessity just to consume these. To sum up: nice location, mediocre food, terrible service. read more

Pretty awful unfortunately. We made a reservation for my daughter's birthday (3 adults & 6 girls), and while i wasn't expecting much, it was even worse than that. At time of reservations we let them know we had 3 vegans coming & they said no problem we'll do veg plates. Great. No problem. When we got there for dinner - our very panicky waiter informed us that they had no olive oil in the entire restaurant & that the only oil at all contained animal fats & what had we been told we could eat that was vegan? (So strange, especially when "olive oil" is even written on the menu.) My salad, which i had with only vinegar on it, no oil, per the suggestion of our waiter was fine. Not great. Eventually, when nearly done with our meal, another lady came out and asked how we were - we told her we found it completely bizarre a restaurant did not have any other oil at all. Finally, we learned from her that they do in fact have canola oil! Why the hell did the waiter not tell us that? It was all just so very unusual. Turkey burger made my mom sick and the dollop of guac on top of it had skinned over it apparently had sat out so long before being brought to her. Service was terribly slow. And there were not that many customers in there to excuse it. Our waitress was very nice; but our waiter seemed like he was either on speed or had anxiety issues, seeming frantic every time we spoke to him. Overall, I will probably never go back there. Nice view, but not enough to make up for the very off putting experience and extremely mediocre food. read more

I have eaten at this establishment before and it was pretty good. Today I went and did not eat there. My girlfriend and I were seated by a waitress, not the hostess. A different waitress came and took our drink order, and never came back. There were several waitresses including the waitress that took our drink order in our area and they never looked at us. After 30 minutes waiting to order our food, we gave up and walked out. I mentioned to the hostess that we had been there for 30 minutes and never ordered, she said "well I never saw you, I didnt seat you," and was just dumfounded. I dont know what that had to do with anything, but I'm never going there again. They were not busy and appeared to have plenty of staff. read more

I can't even comprehend purchasing a gift and my wife trying to use it on a Mothers Day meal that is more than twice as expensive as the gift certificate, and being denied due to "restaurant's discretion." It's hard to believe this place isn't overrun with customers. It's a Marriott restaurant overlooking a lake, Stone Mountain, and a golf course. Perfect escape from the heat! Service was great and very attentive! I ordered the fried green tomatoes which I loved and the bacon blue cheese wedge salad was good but also had ranch on it. This was a pleasant surprise while visiting Stone Mountain. We wanted to get dinner before going to see the Saturday night laser spectacular in the park, so we decided on The Commons (due to it being advertised as having a great view). We arrived at the restaurant to find it very nearly empty, and were not sure if it was even open, but we were seated quickly and with a gorgeous view of the water and Stone Mountain against a stunning sunset. Our server was kind and attentive, and very efficient and quick in getting our orders but also in talking to us about our trip in Georgia thus far. My prime rib was excellent and everyone else enjoyed their dishes as well, which included cornbread salad, pork chops, deviled eggs, fried tomatoes, and fried chicken. This was a great meal in a lovely location, something I was not expecting at a hotel! Definitely stop by here for a sunset meal if you are in the area. read more
