As one of the only restaurants on property, this place has to hold a heavy burden. That burden is well carried here! The onion rings are spectacular, and when I asked "How is the coleslaw?" Grace responded, "Honey, there ain't nothing to that stuff, get the onion rings." She was right! Those Onion rings were TOP NOTCH! I personally had the Commons Double-Stack Turkey, (great, the meat was delicious and the bacon cooked perfectly, with texas-toast and fresh lettuce and tomatoes.) and I had the salmon BLT, the fish was delicious and paired well with the Garlic Aioli. The setting is beautiful and overlooking the lake at Stone Mountain cannot be beat! The staff is kind and the service is impeccible. I'm just sad that this park is falling into obscurity, more people used to appreciate the beauty of the surrounding area, and now it seems like most of the traffic is just for golf. read more

Located inside Stone Mountain near the golf course, you need a $20 day pass or $40 annual pass to eat here. We have the annual pass so it was worth it! A great place to stop after hiking up the mountain. The food was very good, the fries being the best fries I have had in my life. I was told that the chef dubbed the "flavor god" made it. Overall, the pricing was appropriate as well. The music playing in the background were classics and the restaurant was very clean. Most notably, our waitress was the BEST! She was the highlight of the visit. Tangela was so attentive during the entire time and made us really feel at home! She had a positive attitude and made sure to give us the best visit possible. This is a nice upscale but quaint restaurant with beautiful views of Stone Mountain Lake and the mountain itself. Our party of 7 met for lunch. We ordered everything from salads and burgers. All were very good with the exception of our appetizer .... Fried Green Tomatoes! I love and make these myself. I'm sorry to say that these were the absolute worst I've ever ordered. I think it was the batter coating ... thick, dry and flavorless. I don't recommend this dish at all. One other note is that even though this eatery is open to the public, in order to dine here you have to pay to enter into the park to get to the restaurant. $20.00 for a day pass or $40.00 for an annual pass. I found out we are both from California originally. It's always nice meeting someone from your home state. We ordered the small salads and a side of fries. This is a great place to grab a quick bite. The food is wonderful and the staff is friendly.

The wife and I were staying at the Evergreen Marriott and according to the staff, this was the nicer restaurant on the premise. We ended up eating dinner here on both nights of our stay. The distance from the hotel was about a couple miles so, it was a short yet pleasant drive and there was plenty of parking. On the first evening we got a seat outside overlooking the lake and with a great view of Stone Mountain. At that time, the sun was starting to go down and the waterfowl were coming in for the night so it was quite a beautiful sight. Highly recommended to get a seat outside if you're planning on dining around the time the sun is going down. To start, we had the deviled eggs and fried green tomatoes as our appetizers. For the main course, my wife had a succulent lamb porter house and I had a plate of juicy chef's fried chicken with a spicy honey dipping sauce. To finish things off we had the apple tart with vanilla ice cream, caramelized apple chips, and hickory smoked sea salt for dessert. The food was delicious and while we were eating our meal we made the decision to return on our last evening to have dinner and try the other dishes on the menu. The next evening we had pan roasted scallops and seared ahi tuna as our appetizers. For the main course, my wife had the salmon cooked on a Georgia pine plank and I had the 14 oz strip steak, rare. To finish things off we had their popular banana bread pudding with bourbon burnt sugar ice cream and white chocolate sauce. What a meal to cap off a wonderful stay! Last but not least, the service from our servers, Alva and Gloria truly represented Southern hospitality. Both were so friendly and attentive. I made a reservation two months prior and I was not accommodated per my reservation requests at all. We reserved for 5 PM and we're not seated until roughly 5:45 PM. The waitresses Gloria and Alva were sweet as can be but they were slow. We had a party of 23, which I know is big but again, they had two months to prepare. The steak was dry, the veggies were undercooked and under seasoned. The salmon was dry and the mashed potatoes that came with my meal did not come until roughly 30 minutes after. So happy we treated ourselves to a superb dinner. Both of us had the prime rib 10 oz. I had the grits. They were flavorful and great texture. The asparagus was large stems but they were cooked perfectly. My friend had Mac n cheese which said were good. The fingerling potatoes were well seasoned. My boyfriend and I stopped in on a Thursday afternoon after hiking up and down Stone Mountain. We were greeted by the lovely hostess, Kira. She sat us immediately and even recommended the tables with the best views. Ms. Gloria was our server and she was excellent. 5+ stars for her service. My family came into town from Ohio for the Thanksgiving holiday and stayed at the lovely Stone Mountain Inn, located within the premises of Stone Mountain Park. We needed a place to eat Thanksgiving dinner, and the Commons Restaurant, located in the golf course clubhouse, had a fantastic Thanksgiving buffet. For $28 for adults ($14 for children), we were able to fill our bellies with deliciousness, including turkey, prime rib, salmon, shrimp, stuffing, potatoes (mashed and sweet), a plentiful salad and fruit bar, breads, and a great array of cakes, pies, and cobblers. The view overlooking the water and the mountain is lovely, and our server was extremely attentive. My family does not enjoy "fancy" dinners, so best of all, the atmosphere in the restaurant was pleasantly laid-back while still being professional. The restaurant is open to the public and serves lunch and dinner year-round. read more

A quick trip to Stone Mountain with limited food choices we were able to be seated at the commons with under 25 minutes until they closed. The staff was very friendly with their southern hospitality. You must try the arugula salad with the Vidalia onion dressing. So yummy! My husband and I both enjoyed our fried chicken, especially the hot honey sauce that came with it! The food here was delicious! Southern inspired fare. We had something called the "Crack", which was definitely habit forming if you get my drift. Crispy fried chicken skin, under slow cooked pork seasoned to perfection, over a southern biscuit with a marmalade compote Then my mom had the southern dip (like a French dip but better), I had the burger with bacon, a fried egg and white cheddar cheese (med rare). First, if you haven't been a tourist in the Stone mountain area I highly recommend it. What a neat area, especially considering its proximity to Atlanta. The Commons was recommended by the hotel staff for its location and the view. I can say that neither of those two point failed to deliver. Its conveniently located in the park and has a wonderful view of the lake, the golf course and the mointain. Additionally the staff was very attentive and nice. Generally I wouldn't even rate a restaurant in a theme park or a tourist location because you shouldn't expect too much. However we were pleasantly surprised at this place (especially considering how affordable it was). Here is what we had: Fried green tomatoes - Good, the sauce had a bit too much horseraddish, but good. BBQ Burger - I would give it a 7 or maybe 8 out of 10 Meatloaf - I would rate this okay to good - definitely the least impressive thing we ordered Mac n cheese - very good Sweet potatie fries - very good (but then again easy to make) Onon soup - very good Blue cheese wedge - very good (again easy to make) If you want a nice view and good food while in or near the park....this is your "go to" location. read more

I am VERY disappointed in this restaurant. Ever since Ashlee was let go over a year ago, this place has never recovered. Between the service issues, the multiple changes (and certainly not for the better) menu changes to completely removing our favorite, sparking wine brunch! They've removed the healthy options like a fresh crab Cobb salad and a Greek Salmon salad and opted for grease ridden, fried southern heart attacks on a plate. Yeah, I know some people like that but it's absolutely revolting to other; me and my family being several! As of this writing, I understand they've brought back "limited" brunch with a glass of included sparkling wine. We're going to go tomorrow and I'll update this review if I see improvement. This restaurant has one of the best views outside of Atlanta, a very pretty building and even offers golf to the public. So, Commons, get it together!!! Spent the morning walking at Stone Mountain Park with and friend, and it was an amazing day to sit outside and enjoy lunch. Fortunately I visit the park often and pass The Commons, commenting to my self each time that we should try this perfectly situated restaurant some day. Well? Yep- it was the perfect time to give it a try! Located at the golf course clubhouse, the restaurant is really nicely appointed. We chose to sit outside on the patio, overlooking the lake with a perfect view of Stone Mountain. The menu offered many interesting choices, salads and sandwiches particularly as this was lunch time. My fiend had the black and blue burger with housemade chips and loved it. I had the Reuben with fries and really enjoyed mine as well. Beer on tap selection was decent as was service. Very very happy with our experience here. Great food quality huge portions. The spinach and artichoke appetizer is enough for four people with plenty of homemade style cheese bread and multicolor chips. I don't know what happened to other folks but we had great service and wonderful food. I had a nice crusted pan seared salmon with a boat of mashed potatoes. This was the worst experience I have ever had at a Stone Mountain restaurant. I remember how delicious the food was about 5 years ago when I visited The Evergreen. I was advised to try The Commons this time. First, the food was scarce, picked over without utensils available to dip food onto your plate. Customers were standing around to wait on the staff to bring utensils out so that we could serve ourselves from this disorganized buffet. The dressing was pieces of dried crumbs which was left over from an early crowd. Not good. The cranberry sauce was left with juice and scraps of leftover cranberries. The salad was dried out to the point it made me not want to eat anything. Since we paid $106 dollars for this mess of a disappointing experience, we had to eat it. I will never eat at Stone Mountain restaurants ever again. I can not think of any one of the dishes that I enjoyed. Horrible experience for Thanksgiving' Dinner. They need better management desperately. Zero stars. I gave it one star because the lady that waited our table was nice. That's all. So very disappointing. read more

Alva made our first time experience at The Commons amazing. We sat outside, due to, well, the pandemic. It was an amazing view. We were worried we would get a different experience as we were literally the only ones on the patio, but nope. Alva was very attentive. Food was good for the price, but the service was what the stars are for. Thank you for making 1 of 1 outing in the past year a fun experience for my family. She kept checking on us and making sure all of our needs were met. Including making fun of me for not being able to eat everything. But, I brought that on myself. In stone mountain village. This is the golf club resteraunt. Beautiful view of the lake. The resteraunt has seen better days, needs updating. 1st chair I sat on wobbled side to side and we were 1 of 4 tables. Food was a mix. Fried green tomatoes outstanding. Prime rib and lamb ok. Not the worse but also not worth the $20 price tag. Desert the creme brule cheesecake was amazing we got 1 piece and ate only 2/3 super rich but yum. What saved this place was the service. On point and the waitress was honest and steered us away from dishes others had returned. Overall would not return but if you don't want to leave the grounds it works. read more

Still a fan, but really only because I have a season pass to the park and the location / view is exceptional. Really the best view in the Atlanta area and quiet/serene. Unfortunately the service is still patchy at best... although one of the Marriott managers (Derrick I think it was) did compensate with some comps to make up for the failings. (they had closed without letting anyone know). I wish Marriott would give this place the attention it deserves and fix the service and occasion food quality issues. Still recommend giving it a try tho... just ask to see a manager before you sit down and make sure they get on the staff to ensure you are taken care of. Let them know they need to review their yelp reviews too.. hopefully things will come round that way. read more

So I just got back from this restaurant and it seemed fairly decent. We discovered spiders on the ceiling above us and they let us switch tables. Also saw a large spider web I don't know if they just can't reach it but still. Food was decent. My kale side dish was inedible though the amount of salt was ridiculous. The REAL problem about my experience was our rude waitress. If there was 1 piece of food left on our plates she commented every single time about how we shouldn't waste our food. Not in a directly mean tone but in a very condescending "jokey" way. She wouldn't leave the table until somebody would then be forced to eat it because we all felt so uncomfortable. This probably happened about 6 times. And two of the times I refused to do it she made me feel guilty and wouldn't take my plate away. She made us feel like wasteful people and if I'm paying for my meal that is none of her business. Maybe telling us once was fine but her persistence upset me. When you get the hint that people are getting uncomfortable, that's when you should stop. read more
