This place is an eclectic hole in the wall. Do you love a wise variety of beers, a great juke box, different genres of music, delicious burritos the size of your head? Then you will love this place. Be careful the hot sauce on the burritos are seriously hot! They don't mess around. I usually go on Sunday nights fir bluegrass night and it is always packed make sure you get there early to see the comet bluegrass all-stars. Pro-tip always tip the kitchen to get your burrito a little quicker than others. Ps they also have quite the delicious brunch on sat and Sunday's. You should def go check it out! I've lived on the Westside for so many years. I hung out in College Hill in the late 80s. I've been through Northside a million times, yet this was my first visit to The Comet. My son invited me, and he has a real history with The Comet. The food was awesome. The crepe cake was like nothing I've had before. I couldn't figure out what it would taste like by the description, but it was highly recommended by several patrons. It was not overly sweet. The fruit , sauce, and pistachio were perfect compliments, in my opinion. The service was fine. I see other reviews where people are complaining. It is a bar, small staff doing what they do. It's a laid-back vibe. The humans who are doing their best can get overwhelmed. It's not a 5 star James Beard joint. It is a neighborhood bar, serving a good brunch.

Drank some tequila in a tiny glass and smashed on some tacos and nachos as a cool band played thursday night. Ended up kissing this hot vegetarian right outside the venue. Tacos 5/5. The band 5/5. Beer selection 5/5. Nachos 3/5. Veggie friendly 5/5. The vibe 5/5. And a bonus pool table.

A cincinnati icon. This place always has a good brunch with friendly service, some yummy choices including vegetarian options, and lots of great beer to try. It's quite unlike anywhere else. The best jukebox.

A guide to eating at The Comet: Step One: Order at the bar. Step Two: Pay at the bar. They will give you a ticket. Step Three: Take your ticket to the food window. Step Four: Wait for the delicious food to arrive at your table. We came during their brunch menu and I ordered the carnitas tacos (though next time I'm going to have to try that Elote! The service seemed friendly enough and we were able to snag a table. The food was pretty decent, though I don't think I would order what I did again. The watermelon salad that it came with was interesting too! It had really great flavor, and the cilantro really made the dish. I also tasted the biscuits and gravy. The peppery gravy was truly delicious. If I was feeling like more of a lush, I definitely would have ordered it. One small frustration with the business model is asking for a tip a non full service restaurant. I don't mind busing my own table/etc., but I think that's something they should consider (I know it's different too if you're tipping for a mixed drink/bar service too). I definitely want to come back on bluegrass night to have that experience. All in all, this is a pretty cool dive-y spot with a cult following. I'll be back to check it out again.

They have AMAZING tacos. The chicken and the beef are crazy good, and if you go during their happy hour they're only $2! Their queso is also really good! They had a really big beer selection! Their ordering system is a little odd to me as everything is ordered at the bar, you then take your ticket to a window and are given a number (if they're slow they don't give you a number). Parking is on the street but is not too hard to find nearby!

A sweet little spot with good vibes, good food and great prices. Open a little later than some places, music and eclectic mix of patrons

This is one of those places I've heard everyone talk about but haven't gone in the 10+ years I've lived in Cincinnati. I finally crossed off an iconic Cincy location off my to do list! The first thoughts we had as we headed in with a group of about 8 on a Sunday was "I'm eating Mexican, in a dice bar, listening to Blue Grass." And that kinda sums up the eclecticness of the place and the neighborhood! It's dark which makes it look dingy, but I love me a good dive lookin place. This is perfect. There's not a ton of seating, but we did snag the nice round booth, unfortunately the table is a little too small for the booth. You place your order at the bar. They have a few taps and a generous supply of liquor. Check their board for both food and drink specials. There's also about 3 refrigerator cases with canned and bottled beer you can purchase. (Fun fact, Little Kings is normally 2 for $5.) The food is sort of build your own ala carte. You can any meat/tofu, and veggies to orders. Hubby and I got the quesadillas and an order of nachos with queso. And there was plenty of food! The entrees normally.come with chips and your choice of salsa. The mild was definitely flavorful! The medium lacked the flavor but had a slight bit of heat, but not overpowering. The food was delicious and was very generous portions for what you paid for. The live band wasn't overly loud for the smallish space either. They also have a nice patio out back with about 6-8 tables as well if you like dining outside. I wished I had stumbled upon this place sooner! Will definitely be coming back!

There was a DJ & a dance floor, but very few people were dancing, which was disappointing. The place itself was cool with colorful lights & fun graffiti-like walls, but the aesthetic was let down by the lack of people. We enjoyed the free popcorn & I really liked my drink, the downside up, although I realize it's probably too sweet for most. Unfortunately, the cocktail & popcorn didn't make up for the dead atmosphere & we left pretty quickly. I would be interested in going again & seeing what it would be like when it's lively; I imagine it would be a fun spot when the dance floor is full!

It was a nice night so we took advantage of being able to sit outside. I love all the random art and set up of the back. To drink I had the chunker, which was gin in a San Pelegríno it was a very refreshing drink! Deceptively doesn't taste like alcohol. I noticed some people with white claws and little airplane bottles so naturally I have to have a strong claw as well. We also had some very tasty shots, all around we had a good time, just hanging out and enjoying drinks, can't wait to come back here and visit again!

Food: 5/5 Dishes are explained as slightly larger plates than tapas style. My favorites: Wood Grilled Octopus, Crispy Falafel, Bouillabaisse. Love the Moroccan Mint Tea as well! Service: 4.7/5 Very friendly! They course out your plates for you which I always love. They were able to accommodate my pescatarian diet (I.e., meats on the side to give to others at the table). On a less busy night, they offered a free toast for my birthday. I've been for other celebratory dinners here on busier nights where that hasn't happened, so it was a lovely surprise! Ambiance: 4/5 A little busy and can get loud on the weekends with table chatter, cutlery clinks, and the brick walls echoing noise around. Tables are also close together, so you can definitely hear the conversation next to you. The decor is pleasant and the lighting is soft and romantic enough that it is still a perfect date night spot! There are also a couple larger crescent booths for larger parties.
