My wife and I normally pick up cold Macha tea drinks on Thursday to take advice of the $4.00/$5.00 special for that day of the week. Normally, we enjoy the service there but today, 04/23/26, 5:03, was a horrible experience. My wife ordered first, then it was my turn. My order number was reference number #85100286, store #3027, Store Manager Abriamne Fragas. After paying we both walked over to the pickup section of the store. When we got there the young female employee was just completing my wife's order. She poured the finished product into a cup and handed the drink to my wife. She then took a placed the Omni jar in the sink and ran the water to supposedly clean it. To my surprise, all she did was fill it up with water, poured it out and repeated the process again. No soap, no scrubbing. Then she started making my drink and while doing so I could see milk residue all around the Omni jar and whatever else could be on the blender blade. I was going to stop her but since we had already waited for awhile and needed to leave I let it go. Big mistake. We got home and a few hours later I had the runs. My wife was worse than me as she started feeling very sick and started puking for several hours. Her condition was more like food poisoning. What I noticed and don't understand was the young employee who was making the drinks was using the same blender to make every customers drinks. Most places like Jamba Juice, have several blenders and wash each one after every use with soap and water. Why doesn't Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf do the same? I have reported this the state board of health department because this practice is very unsanitary and unsafe for consumers.. read more

I'm normally a fan of Coffee Bean so I was really excited to find this location close to my apartment. So far, sadly, I've been to this store twice and I doubt I will ever go back. The drinks are mediocre and wait times are ridiculously long. The last time I was there, I asked if they could make my 3-year old an in iced mocha without the espresso and the cashier looked at me all confused, "Like a hot chocolate?" I said, "Sure, like a hot chocolate with ice." She continued to look very confused and went to ask the barista. I couldn't hear their conversation but I was pretty annoyed with their reaction to such a simple request. Even I know that all they needed to do was mix some chocolate syrup into some milk with ice. I gave up and grabbed a juice from the fridge for my daughter instead. After I finally ordered my drink, a mocha frappe, I had to wait over 15 minutes for it. Never again. read more

I came to purchase Thursday special and use the rest of the funds on the gift card I purchased. Lo and behold since I last used it in December 2025 it is now void since it is now March 2026. They say 3 months have passed too bad. One has to call a number on the back of the card to get maybe a new card with the balance - who knows. Now I know not to purchase a gift card because it becomes invalid after 3 months if one does not use it. It is not stated on the gift card and not mentioned when purchased. I've been to this location a handful of times now before work and service is always really slow. However, I'll always make it a point to stop in because I love the variety of tea drinks they have and the cold case is always filled with yummy food like the pesto penne (my go to lunch) and baked goods. read more

I vaguely remember that we met here once for a Zoom meeting with our former Community Manager, Emi H. That was a very long time ago... before the pandemic! I like the covered, free parking, the air-conditioning, the restroom at the other side of the market, and the variety of shops here at South Shore Market. This time, I was at The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf for Mo'joe Mondays. The $4 special for regular Ube Coconut beverages caught my attention. However, the Ube Coconut Matcha Latte is made with dairy. Typically, I wouldn't consider myself a big fan of The Coffee Bean's products but on this occasion while visiting Honolulu in particular, the South Shore Market area where this location is, I was bowled over by my iced coffee that i ordered after half a day of walking and shopping in the area. It was rich, and strong, just like I like my iced coffee. This location isn't particularly large or small and two of it's storefront windows face the street so this should add to the foot traffic that rolls on through here. But they always let me down, first time the cashier didn't get milk correct for my drink, second time when waiting for my drink the barista was sassy about calling out my order. Coffee bean is a fast and easy coffee spot if the weather is rainy or too hot to be outside. Conveniently in the south shore market place, there's plenty of seating inside and outside, and not too crowded on a Friday morning. My grandfather enjoyed his usual black coffee, which was piping hot just how he likes it. They've started expanding their menu to fun things like boba drinks and pineapple cream creations, which is a nice treat for the non coffee drinkers of the world! I opted for a mango cream matcha today, which was not too sweet like other chain alternatives I've tried. Super close to where I was staying at while in Oahu; I didn't have to go all the way down to the congested area of Waikiki beach to go get coffee. I like the wall with the flower print it is adorable. The staff were all friendly and sweet. I came twice for my morning coffee: I ordered the brown sugar latte and the dark chocolate latte with Soymilk. I thought both were good lattes and the barista made them really fast. My husband had a lilikoi lemonade and he said it taste good and wasn't too sweet for him (doesn't like too sweet of drinks). read more

Yes this is a BUSY place but their customer service is always on point and always greeted with a friendly attitude and smile. The drinks are always right and delicious I can't control myself I gulp it down in 20 minutes. The service again is great even if the employees are having a bad day you'll never know always pleasant and the store is clean well stocked and inviting. If you're the type of person who likes sugary flavored coffee or if you're not much of a coffee person and enjoy iced teas and matcha more -- Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf is the spot for you. If you're more of a coffee snob, this may be a "last resort" caffeine fix. I'm not trying to yuck anyone's yum if they are Coffee Bean stands -- I used to LOVE coffee bean in high school and will still pick them over other coffee chains. The drinks are just more flavoring / sugar focused than coffee / espresso focused. They usually have a staff pick of the week that I think is really cute but the flavor combinations always seem like sugar bombs. I will say, this is one of the nicest Coffee Beans on island. Located in the South Shore market, it is very new and clean. There is limited seating inside, but there are a few communal tables in the South Shore market and outside. I usually get a vanilla iced coffee and I prefer it with no milk but the vanilla flavoring they use here is a powder that still makes it a bit milky. One thing I do really love here is the bullet style ice that they use! It does melt quickly, but great for people who like to munch on a bit of ice. They also have a selection of food items, my go-to is their salmon lox bagel and I usually ask them to warm up the bagel for me. read more

Never had a problem with this place before. And I get it, self selection bias is a rampant thing that even I'm guilty of. Like this review. Because I'm so dumfounded by how service could be this bad. Granted I arrived 15 minutes before closing, but when I ask the barista 4 times if there are any discounts on the day old pastries and she stares at me as if I'm speaking some alien language and then replies with "huh? Oh yeah we count them". Or when she rings me up for a full price drink when I asked for the $4 pepper.int special that was clearly displayed on the counter. There's no need to roll your eyes and slam the keys as you make the adjustment. But perhaps the biggest issue I had was after she was done ringing me up and I paid and asked for a receipt, she angrily ripped it from the machine, dropped it on the counter right in front of my outstretched hand and then visible and audibly yawned right in my face. Quite the professionalism shown here. Coffee is fine. If you're a fan of overly sugary drinks like I am from time to time. Just don't come here before closing I guess. I dunno. read more

Honestly this is the closest coffee bean to me and I always hold back writing a review because I get it, we all have bad days and I understand we all are not going to like our jobs all the time.. I just can't help but again make another disappointing review about this location. The workers just have such a bad attitude, slow and doesn't acknowledge their guest. They always make drinks terribly as I watch them from the side and don't call out when anyone's drinks are done. Hope to get a better experience again. Went again this morning and it was much better, since I came super early and hours to wait (literally) but luckily I only waited like 10 minutes. I don't recommend the pumpkin crunch unless you like a thick and almost earthy pumpkin puree filling. The whipped cream isn't thick, which I get, since it's in an open air refrigerator cooler. The lilikoi lemonade is good, but I added extra water once I drank some of it down, because I found it too sweet. The turkey caprese sandwich is still good. The Kailua (& now extinct Kapiolani) locations used to have it wrapped in wax paper and cut In half, but this one will have it as the sandwich in a paper container. I visited twice. I thought, second time's a charm. Unfortunately, both experiences we received poor customer service. Both times, months apart, the baristas were not pleasant. Maybe overworked or needing a change of scenery? Our most recent visit, the first cashier, she was busy looking at her iphone watch and didn't acknowledge us standing there. Then she finally looked up and said she would he back. She went to the back and then came back out and made a sandwich instead. So another cashier came and asked if we had been helped since we were standing there for a while. We said we hadn't and she gave a look of disgust. Eeks. Wow. I got a cold brew mocha. Not something I'd recommend. Coffee was bitter. The taste was terrible. I ended up dumping half of it. The good thing? The ambiance is clean and attractive. So there's the 1 star. read more

Everytime I come here, the order is almost always wrong. If I didn't have a dairy sensitivity I wouldn't say anything but this place has poisoned me at least 4x with dairy and I only order on my work day. I just left and this experience just sucked. I seen the barista use regular milk and I seen her instead of doing it the right way pour some out add ice and give it to me. I asked firstly cause I only order uber and this one had no Ube. This also happens often only at this location Ala Moana foodland and kaimuki always get it right. I said oh this isn't the Ube and she said no. And I was like oh I ordered the Ube one and she got mad poured it out and put the Ube in. It was spilling all over. And I hate that I had to ask but I was watching her make it cause I have to or else I'll get poisoned and asked: is this almond not regular milk? I could tell she was pissed and she said it was almond. I know it's not. I seen her use regular milk in the frother and mix it with the matcha. I didn't know what to say cause she was seriously not going to fix it. I might drive to another safe location. Coffee bean doesn't care if they get you sick all day. It was afternoon when we went in to get some water and snacks. There was only 1 bottle of sparkling water left and I asked if they had more bottles of water or apple juice. I was told if it wasn't in the showcase, there was no more. It was 3:00 - I don't understand why they couldn't or didn't restock. Not everyone wants a caffeinated beverage. It was very disappointing. Always order online to avoid waiting the long line, this location is our go to when in the island. They always make our drinks so delicious that you can taste passion that was put in every cup. Our go to was ice mocha something so tasty that I forget the name. Definitely creamy and bold taste of coffee in every sip. We often visit this location. Many times I regret wasting money on the not so delicious drinks. Yesterday, we ordered an iced blended mocha and a peach jasmine iced tea. The three workers working all seemed very sad to be there. Drinks were made and they did not bother to call out the drinks. There are no numbers or names on the drinks so customers grabbed what ever they think it's their drink. I unfortunately, did not look at the abbreviations on the cup, until I took a sip in the car. Weird Energy from a staff member + Missing items from purchase. I bought a cute reusable cup here this morning (picture included) While checking out the cashier mentioned that it's supposed to come with a reusable straw ( she mentioned she was also interested in buying the cup) Two of the staff on duty checked and couldn't find it the younger lady mentioned I could stop by later to pick the straw up ( which was very kind I appreciate the offer) . I made my way back here a few hours later and waited to be acknowledged by staff with cup in hand I was immediately told by the older gentleman ( who was also working this morning) that he couldn't find it and he basically dismissed me before I had an opportunity to explain the situation. I attempted talk and was cut off as he reiterated that he "couldn't find it" and at that point I was over the interaction given that 1) he had now confirmed that there is a straw to go with this cup 2) he was unwilling to attempt to locate it a second time. I understand that this is a busy location but it seems like some warmth from the customer service end is lacking. I stopped drinking coffee for a little over a year but was introduced to The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf by my friends who go often to the Ala Moana Foodland Farms location. I was very hesitant as I never ordered anything from here and usually just go to Starbucks for drinks. What a life changer! I decided to try the iced blended mocha that my friends normally order. I asked the girl who was helping me if they could add espresso beans to it and she said yes. I was even more excited. She said that I could order it as a black forest without cherries or as an ultimate mocha. It usually comes with whip but i prefer no whip. Now the ultimate mocha is my go to and I've been hooked. It tastes like an ice blended hot chocolate with espresso beans. I also like how it does not make me crash after drinking it. I absolute love coming to this location because the workers including Emily the Manager are very friendly and they are very consistent with their orders. Winter Wednesdays $3 for regular ice blended drinks all through December 2021 from 12pm - 7pm! Located in the South Shore Market, parkings pretty good if you come early! During the afternoons it does get a bit crowded. I work seasonally in the area so I decided to go grab a hot latte, Yes HOT! I took advantage of the weather being chilly! Ordered a cookie butter hot latte, which was DELICIOUS! I don't normally go to Coffee bean & Tea leaf, mainly because I'm just familiar with SB. But that cookie butter latte really got me. It was so good, the barista asked me if I wanted any alternative to the milk, I told her do whatever you think taste best. So she made it with oat milk. It sealed the deal for me! The service here is really quick, so efficient! There was 1 woman working that morning I came in and she got my order as well as the order before mine out pretty quick! I also ordered the blueberry lemon cream cheese scone. It was good. Moist, you taste a bit of the lemon with the blueberry, I appreciate that. I hate when you order something and you can only taste 1 flavor in there. This scone was not the case, nice pieces of blueberry nice sweet lemon zest flavor and a bit of the creamy cream cheese texture. Good job! My sister told me about one of these and said that she liked it. So when one opened up in downtown San Francisco, I chose to visit and try it out. I regretted it because it was too sweet and had little coffee/espresso flavor. Too sweet and not much of a coffee/espresso flavor describes my experience at this location too. That's my verdict. I am not a fan of this type of shop, but while looking for Whole Foods I became waylaid looking through a cute little shopping center. But it was coffee and my less discerning husband wanted some. I got the mocha which was my standard, but...alas, it was too sweet. Tully's sweet and I didn't enjoy it much. I just wanted the coffee kick so I drank it down and remembered why I don't come to this place. Now, the people working there were really nice, so I feel bad. It really wasn't their fault at all. Probably the recipe. But, they seem to be the anchor to the shopping center and probably get a lot of business as a result, however, their coffee game is quite bad, so one star. This South Shore Market location has been my favorite location. Service here is always great with so much yummies to choose from and what sets it apart from the others is that once you have your drink you can find seating (on behalf of SSM) both indoors and outdoors that are just steps away to enjoy at your leisure which is extremely rare. The other guy is constantly out of items which super frustrating, I enjoy some of their simple "old school" promotions like February they offered double stamp all month long and currently a $3 Thursdays deal. The server should have mentioned that the toaster was not working after I placed an order of items that should be toasted. She was tiny and grumpy and was not apologetic at all.
