Avocado Toast

I LOVE coffee academics. This is the perfect location too. Right by the beach. After I soak in tons of sunshine and relax by the water, I like to come here for food. I love the avocado toast! The bread is nice and toasty. Avo toast is also so healthy and packed with good fats. There are pecans sprinkled on top and tiny cherry tomatoes. All healthy stuff that you should eat regularly! I love eating food that doesn't leave me feeling guilty. And I love knowing I'm not putting anything bad in my body. So that's why I love the avo toast here. It's also a major plus that it's right by the beach. There are also tons of other restaurants nearby and you can walk around after and even catch the sunset. Beach + sunshine + avo toast or coffee = the perfect day away from the city

Chemex blend (98 hk dollar, 12 €).

"Hi, my name is Little Wina and i'm a coffee addict". While i was planning my HK trip, i already googled The Coffee Academics ("TCA") and listed the Repulse Bay Shop as a must-visit. TCA is nestled in the heart of "The Pulse", a brand new shopping mall, and just steps away from the sugary sands of Repulse Bay Beach. The interior has an upscale look & feel, while nicely dressed baristas are running around in the background. Still, u have to get up and order at the counter; when u do so, u'll notice the following sentence on the chalkboard: "a min. spending of 70 hk dollar per person is appreciated" (= 8.2 €). Coffee connoisseurs will be delighted with the diversity of coffee brewing methods (Chemex, Aeropress,...) and the opportunity to taste a sip of a world-renowned specialty coffee like Jamaica Blue Mountain. I chose for the JWF blend (Chemex, 98 hk dollar / 12 €) and drank my most expensive cup of Joe! Not a coffee lover? Don't worry, other beverage and (pricey) food options are available.

Friendly staff at Saffron! You can order at the register,…read morethen find a seat... Or you can sit down and they will come to you. On a rainy Saturday I needed to get out for a bit. So wandering around Stanley, the other establishments seemed too "stiff" so Saffron was the place for me - laid back and chill. On to what I ate. I had a latte and a raisin scone. They sell Peet's coffee here by the bag. So it's safe to assume they brew Peets coffee. I love Peets coffee. Peets is a USA coffee shop and I definitely miss their coffee so this was a pleasant surprise! They also make the latte well priced at 35$ for a single. The raisin scone was $31 HKD and disappointing. Definitely did not enjoy it. It was hard and tasted over-cooked. I let them warm it up so I guess that's why it tastes bad. This was probably a fluke so I won't hold it against them. They also sell brunch, lunch, milkshakes, cakes, etc. it's a good place for a meet up spot to catch up with old friends. Free no-time-limit wifi with purchase.

Compared to the nearby stores, saffron is rather quiet and I can see why. The food is very costly…read moreand quite disappointing. The food is not hot and can be very easily told that the ham and cheese pastry was just microwaved. The place was not very clean as well. There were lots of stains and crumbs on the floor and sofas, birds in the resturant itself. NO JOKE!!! The resturant is very well decorated with a dj table and candy jars with candy at the side selfs. At first I only thought it was for decoration but you can actually buy them. I was about to but I realised they were sticky and melted. Very unpleasant. Not recommend

A nice little coffee stand on the second floor of the Discovery Park mall. A nice surprise to find…read morethis coffee shop after having lunch. The coffee here is pretty good, especially considering the location. The price is also a really good deal for Hong Kong. Lattes and cappuccinos here are only 25 hkd. Next time I'm at discovery park I will definitely come back here for a cup of coffee.

One of the best coffee shops in HK Island. Assuming you are in it for things like espressos,…read morecappuccinos, flat whites, etc. The coffee is great, the late art is great, the barista is super friendly. That, and unlike Omotesando, this is a proper, legit, HK style shop. It's hard to find. It's weirdly hidden, inside of another business (not telling), on the second floor of a random building (also not telling). The hours are not posted, and I assume are made up depending on how folks feel. Only one of two elevators in the building actually stops on this floor, and you get to figure out which one (still not telling). The door guy, lies to you, and tells you that there is no cafe at all. It's classic, legit, wonderful, slightly crazy, but still delightful Hong Kong. And, when you finally figure out where it is, and manage to make it there, you're rewarded with amazing coffee, and beautiful late art. You're still in Wan Chai, but life is suddenly better. Good luck, be brave, before they relocate.

I've been to this location multiple times and to be honest, sadly their customer service is pretty bad with the exception of the person in charge. The lack of customer service is common in HK, however, for a western restaurant I accept better. As for the food, certain dishes are pretty good, and others are pretty disappointing. I really like the Avocado Toast, Fish & Chips, and Frozen Mocha. Definitely avoid the pizza, salad (there's no substance to it, just a bunch of leaves), and dry chicken. I only leave this review in hopes they'll improve their food and service!

The server kept needing to check if certain dishes were available and spoke softly so it was hard to hear her (unclear if she was a trainee but she did not appear to be shadowing anyone). The portions were small and mostly bland. We had a group of seven and ordered appetizers to share, but there were not enough wings nor slices of flatbread to go around. We also ordered the tomato soup which was unexpectedly spicy. The seafood spaghetti could have used some salt and the quinoa salad tasted undercooked. The pre-teens in our group were most excited about the Unicorn Blood smoothie for their Instagram feeds, but were slightly disappointed that the colors were not as bold as shown on the menu. There are so many other restaurant options along the beach so there isn't much reason to come back.
