That, and unlike Omotesando, this is a proper, legit, HK style shop. It's hard to find. It's weirdly hidden, inside of another business (not telling), on the second floor of a random building (also not telling). The hours are not posted, and I assume are made up depending on how folks feel. Only one of two elevators in the building actually stops on this floor, and you get to figure out which one (still not telling). The door guy, lies to you, and tells you that there is no cafe at all. It's classic, legit, wonderful, slightly crazy, but still delightful Hong Kong. And, when you finally figure out where it is, and manage to make it there, you're rewarded with amazing coffee, and beautiful late art. You're still in Wan Chai, but life is suddenly better. Good luck, be brave, before they relocate.

We were the only ones there for the majority of the time and we saw the staff diligently sweep up all the rabbit leavins. The food minimum was also waived since we came during early bird hours. It was a bit of a downer that we couldn't pick up the rabbits but that's for their safety, but you can open cages and pet them or try to lure the two they have out with rabbit snacks. Be wary of your clothing and personal belongings as bunnies like to chew on things. Rabbitland cafe charges play time with the bunnies at an hourly rate of 50 HKD/hour, which is a pretty reasonable rate considering its location in Causeway Bay. They also serve up delicious fresh made food, drinks, and have free wifi!

The shop overall is a bit small with only a couple seats inside and a few tables outside. If you want to avoid the smoke smells, I recommend you try to snag an inside seat or take your drink to go. Drinks may take a while depending on what you order but they seem to put a lot of care into making a good cup. The baristas were also really nice and knowledgeable in helping me pick what beans to buy. Next time I'm in the area I'll be back!

If there are two things I love in life, it's 24 hour restaurants and Shanghainese cuisine. Put…read morethose two things together and now we have Shanghai Hong Kong Noodle Shop (上海香港麵家). In addition to having a strong local following, it is also conveniently located near the F1 exit on the MTR in Causeway Bay. I am 100% in favor of any major city offering a late night Shanghainese option, let alone one that is open at all hours. While the awning looks like it would be an entrance to a proper restaurant, this is like any typical noodle shop in HK: small, cramped, and a liability for 3 or more people at a time. I love that the staff is constantly doing food prep which makes sense if they're feeding people non-stop at all hours. The smell of the cooking makes me appreciate the family business feel of the place. Overall, I like the food. It reminds me a lot of the NYC Chinatown Shanghainese scene, which is also good, but sometimes tastes like Shanghainese food if it were cooked by Canto folks. This is really not that different since it doesn't really remind me of the flavors that one would get in Shanghai (#2). That doesn't make the food worse, but it takes a slight ding on the authenticity bit. I still am enamored with the concept of this place. They offer a lot of my go-to items: salty / sweet soymilk (咸和甜豆漿), stuffed rice sticky rolls (粢飯), lion's head meatball (獅子頭), vegetable rice (菜飯), dan dan noodles (擔擔麵) and dumpling classics like soup dumplings (小籠包) and shengjian pan fried buns (生煎包). The former are frequent items for practically diners here (especially the salty soymilk with fried bread sticks), but the latter two are a tough sell for me. It's not that I don't love the meat or broth in the XLB or SJB, but that it's just a little too doughy for my tastes. I was pleasantly surprised with their mackeral noodle soup (醺魚上海麵), which was hearty and simple. I think the service pulls no punches. They're not the warmest folks, but hardly anyone is here for the service. One can only rock Canto fare for so long, so having a Shanghainese inspired spot that is open all day and night is a concept I'm happy to support. ____________ (#1) At least in Causeway Bay.
