Pleasant coffee-focused cafe with lots of indoor and outdoor seats, good food, 300Mbit WiFi. Soy, oat, almond milk available for vegans. Cappuccino contains non-vegan chocolate by default. Masala chai contains animal products as well. High-quality coffee and friendly service, usually quite slow.

The first time I came here, I was immediately amazed by how good the music quality (sound and also choice) was. Then I looked around, there was a pair of Devialet speakers, which are some of the best in the market currently. Experience started off well. Anyway, got the Salmon Donburi and Swordfish Donburi and man was I happy as I ate. It was really asthetic when it was served, with a balance of fish and veggies with corn, while the egg was in the center ready to burst. The egg was very runny and great, while the salmon was torched just enough for the outside to have a slight crisp while the inside giving the pleasant sashimi-feel to it. The corn complimented the fish and rice well, and everything was topped with coarse salt which gave an occasional surprising crunch! Ordered the Nitrobrew Coffee, and it was a really well balanced drink with the strongness of the coffee and coldness to it. However, I couldnt really justify the price for it, since it was essentially a cold brew coffee with some foam on top. I enjoyed it and think the drink is amazing though. Overall, really amazed with the food, drinks, and also the ambiance of the place with the speakers, bright lighting and nice furnishing. Giving this place a 5 for the great food. And something just makes me want to come back to this place, even made some suggestions to the manager (owner? not sure!) for more low-carb options while keeping the great protein offerings they have. See if the menu changes anytime, and I can come back for a try.

I have to say I like the vibe of the shop the most. It's a great place to sit down (w/ or without someone), listen to some music, do some work, have a conversation, etc. I do think the music can get a bit loud at times but that's me being picky. There's also outdoor seating so I'd imagine it's quite comfy when not in the middle of summer. Their menu is well thought out. It's diverse while keeping the focus still on coffee. They have beer, whiskey, tea, and a seasonal menu with more creative drinks, as well as food offerings. Their burger wasn't too bad. My go to espresso wherever I go is either a Piccolo or flat white. Their espresso is a bit on the milder side. While my drinks are creamy and smooth I do wish the code was a bit bolder, nuttier, more chocolate. It could just be personal preference? They do take care in making a pretty consistent cup though so bravo to them!

Flat white, cappuccino, and rose water rhubarb ice cream

I went to the Gough Street location right when it opened and became an instant fan of their artisanal coffees. It was an absolute gem. 5 stars hands down. As soon as they opened their Fashion Walk CWB location, fit with more food and delicious treats, I couldn't wait to try EG again! I had a coffee date with my aunt, and luckily she found a table for us inside. It was raining, so no one was seated outside, but I plan to return when the weather's good. Seating was a bit cramped, but we managed to enjoy our conversation, amidst the buzz of voices and music overhead. Food/Beverage: Good solid flat white and cappuccino! 5 stars for the artisanal ice cream - Rose Water Rhubarb (which came topped with dense pink marshmallow)! Service: Quite disorganized. Waitstaff got our orders confused not once, but twice! I ordered a flat white, while my aunt ordered a cappuccino. My flat white arrived first, but after 5 minutes, the cappuccino still didn't arrive. I asked them to kindly follow up on the cappuccino, and for some strange reason, they brought out two! Similar thing happened when we ordered ice cream. At first we only ordered one scoop of the rose water rhubarb vanilla ice cream, to share. But seeing how delicious it looked and tasted upon its arrival, my aunt also wanted one for her own. Yet again, it was taking an awfully long time for the ice cream to be served. Did they run out? Was there no one serving ice cream? We were both puzzled. Nevertheless, it gave us more precious time to catch up. After almost 15-20 minutes, I went up to the counter check with them. I said, "We had ordered a second scoop of the rose ice cream. Could you please check? As we have not received it." I suppose some words got lost in translation and 5 minutes later, two servings of the rose ice cream were brought to us. I wouldn't have minded the extra scoop as it was lip-smackingly delicious, but bear in mind, it's HK$45 per scoop. Not the cheapest in town. So, please Elephant Grounds, I love your coffee and food a lot, but please improve your customer service.

Avocado Toast with the perfect oozy poached eggs.

I have been following Elephant Grounds on Instagram for MONTHS! I finally got down to the cwb branch to sample their delights this morning. I wasn't disappointed as the food looked and tasted as good in real life as it does online. Firstly, may I just point out that we went looking for a latte before hitting the lunar new year market. As we eyed up the coffee menu, my aunty and I looked at each other and both felt like it would be a waste to settle for a simple latte considering their delightful array. She opted for a salted caramel latte and I ventured forth with the French vanilla. They coffee was delicious! Best cup I've had in a while. The French vanilla was sweet and smooth. Perfection. There is also a great selection of brunch items to choose from. My dining companion chose the lavender cream cheese and honey toast and I went for the avocado toast. The dishes were tasty indeed, and I was surprised that the honey went so well with lavender cream cheese (although we did scrape away some of the lavender as it was a touch over powering). My avocado toast was good, however sadly the avocados were a little under ripe. But boy did they boss it with the eggs. Perfectly oozey as soon as I put my knife to it! Hells yeh I'll be back again!

    Taro

Tried both the taro and banana party ice cream. Both were too sweet and weak in flavor. Questioned the manager as to why there is no banana flavor in "banana party", he explains the name is just a name...nothing to do with flavor. I cannot speak for the food, but this place seems quite popular for those about that instagram life. If you enjoy ice cream for their taste, best to find something else.

Devialet Phantom created quite a wow vibe, plus coffee and music selection are both quite nice.

Food: mediocre; nothing special but not terrible. Service: lacking. Waiters and waitresses stood around chatting. Location: conveniently located at the heart of Causeway Bay (Fashion Walk). I would come back again for the sake of convenience but not for the food.

Quite busy on a Saturday afternoon The Mexican corn was decent but needed some lime. (New York's Cafe Habana's Mexican corn is still the best) The avocado salmon poke here was too salty. Taro chips salt was nit scattered evenly The nitro brew was on the acidic side

The moment I entered this place, I fell in love with the vibe. It's the type of cafe you'd love to hangout in with or without friends. Love the music, the look and the menu. It serves diner dishes minus the guilt of all the oil, fat and unwanted calories. For brunch we ordered corned beef hash which came with greens (Brussel leaves) two perfectly poached eggs and it wasn't too oily, pancakes which came with berries and a homemade maple syrup that was not too thick or sweet and a grilled cheese sandwich which came with tomato soup and a side salad. Will definitely try their hand crafted coffee on my next visit. I highly suggest trying this place out! Both the place and the dishes are very photogenic :)

    Impossible Taco Fries

It seemed quite full in the afternoon on a Wednesday but, we surprisingly got some seats inside. The Impossible Taco Fries was definitely delicious and the Chai latte that I had was spot on! Definitely going back again

Nice and simple cafe, with very good coffee. My French Vanilla tasted very good. Vanilla taste was very mature and luckily not Starbucks-Sweet-Candy like.

It was SO good! Never thought about green tea ice cream, but when in China... The parlor was really upscale and nice. But there were a lot of people coming and going, so knew it must be good ice cream! Decent size place to get people in and out as well. The staff was really helpful, let you try different flavors and were very friendly. Easy check out as well. No seating inside the parlor, so you would need to find a bench if you didn't want to walk and eat the ice cream....if it lasts that long. Ha! Great choice...definitely try it out if in the area!

In the center are delicious looking gift boxes of cookies and snacks. My friend mentioned that in the past there was always a line for ice cream when she passed by, so we figure this quiet day (which was also rather cold) is a good time to give it a try. They have different flavors, like chocolate, matcha, strawberry, kiwi and more. Some of them, like the fruits, are mixed in the flavor, but the others seem to be just a dusting of cocoa powder or matcha powder on top of plain ice cream. Same for the durian. The employee put the ice cream cone in a base and proceeded to grate some dry durian on top. Therefore, the flavor is impressive at the top, but further down is just plain ice cream. That said, it's still pretty good ice cream, creamy but not too sweet. Another thing special about the ice cream is the cone. Unlike the standard cones, this one is made with a Langue de chat style cookie that is similar to Shiroi Koibito 白い恋人, a delicate, buttery, crunchy cookie with a brown edge. The cone also looks very lovely. The only problem is, it's more delicate than your average cone, and mine cracked after a few licks. With the melting soft ice cream, you can imagine what a mess it becomes. The cones are rather pricey, about $35-40 each, but it's a nice indulgence, and I will stop by again to try their other stuff.

I haven't had ice cream from Cha Cha in a while, and I did today because as a 'gold member' of Citysuper we received a voucher to redeem a free cone. Because it was a Sunday, it was especially crowded. There was a pretty long line but I really was craving ice cream so I decided to just wait. As I got closer towards the front of the line, I realized that the queue kind of split into two - one to pay and one to collect the ice cream. There was a member of staff noting down our orders in the line. This really confused me and I had no idea which queue I was even in anymore - I heard a woman remark to her husband that this was a really strange system that was more confusing than it needs to be. Anyway, they have three types of cones - green tea, milk, and a twist cone with both green tea and milk. Wanting the best of both worlds, I went for the twist cone. My first bite (lick?) in, I was reminded why I've never had the ice cream here more than two or three times - the green tea ice cream seriously lacks a green tea taste. Even though it was a combination of green tea and milk ice cream, the milk, which I suppose naturally is the milder of the two flavors, somehow drowned out the taste of the green tea. The ice cream was really smooth and milky though. If you're a hardcore matcha fan, the ice cream here won't impress. The green tea flavor is way too light, and too milky and sweet for matcha, which is supposed to have some bitter undertones. But if you just crave ice cream that's super milky and creamy, and don't care much for whether the green tea taste is there or not, then you would definitely like this!

It has the prominent corner location that is right next to the TST N1 Subway entrance and is facing the popular Hanoi Road. There aren't many dessert options in this part of TST, which makes Owl's Choux an easy destination for post meal treats or a cool down option from the treacherous summer heat. Two things that don't work in favor for Owl's Choux is the price and the fact they sell gelato. In Chinese, "雪糕" or "冰淇淋" is the only way to describe gelato, but is in fact the same word for ice cream, which gets confusing. This is where the price point becomes tricky, as the gelato is handmade. That's right, not imported or store bought, but handmade at home by the owner, Mr. Ricky Chin. For all the sleepness nights Ricky has put into the business, it's quite clear presentation and quality matter above all other things. Dessert fiends, take note. The chouxs themselves don't disappoint. At $58 for a scoop between the choux, one might flinch at the price, but after a bite of their red velvet choux, I was actually semi-stuffed. I'm all for variety, so be sure to indulge on samples before committing to the real thing. If we're talking gelato exclusively, I appreciate the hazelnut / praline + cinnamon crumble the most. In fact I could just eat those two and life would be grand. Lastly, the service has always been my cup of tea. They're generally overly polite and good with dealing with the influx of random crowds that come here. If it's not tourists who are staying nearby, it's locals who are wandering by and typically marveling at the shop's super inviting ambiance. The place is small and they're cash only for now, but I expect big things from one of TST's most underrated spots.
