As an avid dessert lover, next stop must be Dalloyau! Dalloyau is a famous French pastry shop and it has over 30 shops at 6 countries. My friend made the reservation at Dalloyau on 8pm, we walked over there right after our dinner. The entrance is classy and elegant, you have to pass by all the dessert counters and able to glance all the sweets before the dining area. OMG!!! It's so tempting already..... We got seated on long velvet sofa at the corner, it's comfy and privacy. The menu was small and pricey but I still willing to everything on menu. Religieuse Caramel - the religieuse tasted fantastic, the caramel cream was rich and creamy, the choux light and crispy and the crunch provided by the streusel was delicious. Opera Cake - It originally created by Dalloyau!! Authentic opera cake is 3-layers of almond sponge with coffee syrup and chocolate cream and chocolate ganache. The strong flavour with joconde, buttercream, ganache and the glaze, tasted complex but amazing. Dalloyau cake - Almond meringue, praline cream and crushed caramelized hazelnut. It's chewy and nutty. Macarons - It's perfectly sweet and crispy on the shell. Molten cake - Molten cake was great but I would expect such a class pasty shop to make stunning dessert rather than mediocre molten cake. Crème brulee - It's favorable, creamy and tasty. Overall, all the desserts were great but not the best I had. For sure, they're the one of the best pasty shop in Hong Kong.

Had a lovely dinner with a good friend here after 3 weeks in China. The lobster salad was amazing…read more The lobster very delicate and the mango dressing perfect. The beef was also tender. The mashed potatoes a bit too puree for me. Desert...strawberries and a cream w a bit of crunch cake in the base. Negative? The seating was attractive but not comfortable. The noise would rise and fall, sometimes too loud to hear my companion. And I ordered tea later that was luke warm, not hot. Otherwise service was good.

Cafe Paradise is a western style restaurant located in Prince Edward and its quite a nice surprise!…read more Came here around dinner time on a weekend and apparently was very lucky to get a seat right away. Because right after seating a bunch of other people came in and had to get on a waiting list due to almost every other table being reserved already! The atmosphere was cutely decorated, with a cool bookshelf on the wall right when you walk in. They have many different style business cards apparently designed like cards that kids use to trade with. Anyway, the restaurant itself is somewhat spacious by Hong Kong standards. They have all your typical western dishes, such as spaghetti, risotto, all day breakfast, etc. I had the all day breakfast which was pretty nice. It came with an orange juice and strangely a hamburger patty. Dont usually get that in an breakfast set, but I'm not complaining! Dont really have much to complain about, except that the sausage is a little bit weird. Its almost too chewy as if its overly processed. The service and the food is decent, so if I'm in the area I would definitely come back for another meal. PS. if you sit by the window, be ready to have lots of people walk by to look at or take pics of the the miniature carosale..

When the best part about your chicken salad sandwich is the bread...lol. Let me clarify, the food…read moreat Ginger Bakery wasn't completely awful. It's just that the chicken was subpar and the bun was above par. But still, that's not really what you want when you order a chicken salad sandwich. Let me further clarify by saying that Ginger Bakery wasn't bad at all. With a name like that, you'd think it'd be hot and spicy...or really Asian, but nope. I happened to stumble through its cute French café-like doors when I failed to locate a certain Rotisserie chicken place. HKD $67 for a sandwich and a coffee/tea sounded like a reasonable deal. And I've had a hankering for a good chicken salad sandwich since leaving Toronto. There were definitely some things that they did right and some things that were just wrong. So let's start with the good. 1) It's a very nice dine in area. Good price lunches and displays. Very nice cutlery and plates. 2) The milk for my tea came hot, so my tea stayed steamy. 3) The bun for my sandwich was very soft and fresh. It tasted slightly sweet and leaves flour residue on your hands, like a puffy bread pillow. 3) Food came very quickly, which is perfect for the HK rush life. Now for the bad. 1) First of all, the sauce was kind of yellowish and that threw me off, but nothing too alarming. It still wasn't great though, and I don't find it memorable at all. But the bigger detriment to the sandwich was the chewy chicken. That was not pleasant. It wasn't all the way chewy, it was just after a couple of bites. You can tell they included pieces of tendon and stuff in there that did not make for a good chicken experience. 2) I asked for Earl Grey tea and ended up with English Breakfast. Not a huge deal, but still a disappointment. English Breakfast is the most basic of teas. 3) They warmed up the sandwich which is usually a great thing, but it was kinda weird for a chicken salad sandwich to be warm. I mean I can completely understand (and would love) a warm toasty bun, but to have warm chicken salad? Especially when the chicken salad wasn't very good? Hmm... Would I go again? Maybe. I can see this being a very cute date place or somewhere to come with a friend for a slice of cake (which looks great) and a specialty cappuccino. But it looks like my quest for the perfect chicken salad sandwich on this side of the world continues. (31/100) - 2017

I like that along with your drink they provide a small glass with ground beans to enhance your coffee experience. The shop overall is a bit small with only a couple seats inside and a few tables outside. If you want to avoid the smoke smells, I recommend you try to snag an inside seat or take your drink to go. Drinks may take a while depending on what you order but they seem to put a lot of care into making a good cup. The baristas were also really nice and knowledgeable in helping me pick what beans to buy. Next time I'm in the area I'll be back!

Breakfast in Hong Kong…read more.. We saw McDonald's across the street from our hotel and decided to dine here! We ordered at the kiosk because the McDonald's app didn't work. We stood in line to pay at the counter. Service was efficient - especially with a long line and just one cashier! There were many seating options: small tatables, high tops, and long, separated tables. The lighting was muted. There was pleasant Chinese pop music playing in the background! I got the combo meal: grilled chicken pasta with tomato soup and Hot Lemon Tea. It came with hash browns - the regular type that you get in the USA. The curly pasta was good! It wasn't mushy! The tomato soup was on the watery side, but tasted great and had some corn kernels in it! The grilled chicken was challenging to eat. I pierced it with a fork and took a bite... I need a fork! It had some kick to it, but was tender with a bit of gristle. The tea was very dark and strong... it helped me Kickstart my day! Happy Sunday! This was our first meal in Hong Kong!

Nothing like the familiarity of our McDonald's though here in Hong Kong the varieties for breakfast alone is pretty impressive, wished I took pics of the menu but today it was the simple Luncheon Meat McMuffin which replaced the Canadian bacon for a thick cut of luncheon meat. They do have breakfast Happy Meal as well which I believe are pancakes but why don't we have this in the states...ordering is by kiosk only though you have the option of card payment T the kiosk or cash at the counter. Access is by stairs only which is my only complain but with lots of seating and fast service it's a great option to start your day on a friendly and yummy budget. Thank you!
