For those of you who don't know, it's made with Ceylon leaves, evaporated milk and sweetened condensed milk. The French toast was so damn delicious but a bit indulgent. I do wish I could taste more of the peanuts. My son loved his bolo bao. We also shared a hot bowl of macaroni soup with Spam and lettuce. Thinking back, I regret not trying the Spicy Satay Beef Instant Noodle. I will have to look for this back in the states. The aunties working here are just the most adorable, very kind and welcoming. One of them took the time to help us navigate the huge menu and recommended a few items. I would come back again and again if I could. I have a mad love for these iconic HK Style Cafes aka Cha Chaan Tengs. These affordable quick-paced restaurants were influenced by the city's 150 years of British rule. Each bun was wrapped in plastic, but was so extremely heavy. How could a bun be so heavy? Opening it and taking a bite - it's like chewy raw dough. I'm not sure if it was really raw, but that's what it felt like. I couldn't finish it. I didn't even want to take a second bite, really. I'm actually very surprised at the good reviews on the bun here. Its one of the few times that Google reviews are more fair and accurate than Yelp reviews for me. Don't trust the lists!!!!!!!!!!!! Perhaps it's just not for my kind of tastebud... my younger son liked his macaroni in soup. My older one did not like his "bor lor yao"... which is the pineapple bun with a thick piece of butter... all the baos were very dense... and not fluffy like other ones we've tried. The only saving grace - the Chicken Pie! It's crusty and flavorful. Anyway, small shop, a few tables and you will be sharing with strangers if you're solo. I preferred the thick toast a little more, I think it's just overall texture of it being more soft and perhaps visually more appealing. My parents said they liked the bun more though. What I found was really sweet was one of the ladies was walking around, kind of paused for a bit before coming up to our table and pointed the syrup and signaled for us to pour it onto the toast. After we did it she smiled and gave a thumbs up. She knew we were foreigners and not knowing how to properly eat it and wanted to help us despite the language barrier. It shows that LFY really does care and want the best experience for their customers. Because you know, not many will do what she did. Having the mentality of "not my business, why should I care?" Or "I'm not the owner/manager, it's not my responsibility" (I'm pretty sure she wasn't as she was in uniform and in Asian cultures, usually the person at the register is the person in charge) I think that experience will stick with me for a lifetime. It wasn't crowded. It didn't have frustrating lines of unorganised people. Or the cookie cutter foods that come boxed and put out on display. Most things here seemed prepared on order and even the hash browns and chocolate croissants still had their crisp outsides rather than the soggy messes I found elsewhere. Located as part of Vic on the Harbour its a great addition. So easy to wander downstairs for breakfast. Most people come dressed ready for the day but you even have guests come in their comfy bathrobes and hotel slippers. Breakfasts were relatively peaceful and there were sunny nooks to eat quietly. Lots of families with kids enjoying their time here together, it's a safe environment where they can keep an eye on them but feel comfortable to let them roam a little. Anyway, great food!! They had small two person-only tables so no need to share if those are available. This cafe is located near some popular shopping streets and markets but deep enough in Kowloon where nothing is in English, however it helps to have someone who speaks Canto. :) I love these cafes for their fast, no nonsense service and they certainly live up to it.

The beef and egg sandwiches didn't have much of a flavor and I thought the ground beef was a little dry. The french toast, however, was excellent. If dining in, they serve the coffee in white cups as opposed to paper cups. I like! Knocking off a star because the air conditioning was freezing!
