Have always enjoyed the Chop House. We went on Saturday, the service was subpar, Lori or Laurie was our waitress. Mask below her nose. She probably felt she Was Ok as Demetrius wasn't wearing a mask at all and was very arrogant when asked about it. He was at greeting area and walking around restaurant , no mask. It took 1 hour 30 minutes to get the dinners. When I asked our waitress about it she stated they had a large part and they took preference. She had some attitude after that. We never saw her again until they brought the dinners. We couldn't even get another drink after that. I asked to speak to manager he did come, this manager had a mask on, over very understanding and told him and he did seem shocked she said that. While my dinner was excellent another person ordered filet medium rare, it came will done. The manager did come over but since it took so long to get the dinners we declined another one. He offered desert but we had plans afterward. I was impressed he took the filet dinner off the bill. Perhaps this was a fluke tonight but I really expected better service and attitude from a higher end restaurant. read more

A solid, reasonable choice when in Warren to get your meat on. They have a dynamic happy hour that packs in the early birds. Their menu is good, lots of different options to entice. We were quickly, kindly and efficiently seated with our reservations being held up perfectly. Waitress was attentive and quick, just what was needed. First time here after being referred by a friend. Weather was nice so we sat on the patio and enjoyed the sunset with our Peach Sangria. The balsamic is so good that we wished we had just ordered salads (mental note for next time). We wanted to stay light so we ordered the blackened walleye with greens which was tasty. Staff was very friendly and attentive in spite of busy Friday crowds except the host who was flustered, unfriendly and a little dramatic. Another Thanksgiving spent at the Chophouse with family. Food was fantastic. Ordering the salad dressing on the side was definitely the way to go. Really loved the Almond-crusted chicken and the cranberry glaze was a nice complement. Have never been a sweet potato fan but these were delish. The entire meal was phenomenal. Was planning to add a star to my review. And then... ...we got the bill. For some reason, there was a surcharge ($1.50?) for bleu cheese dressing on the salad. Why??? The amount isn't an issue but it's a major annoyance. There were no surcharges for any other salad dressings and the portion was small. We did not request two salad dressings on one salad. And, of course, we were not advised that there would be an extra charge. Really, there was no excuse for such a thing. read more

We eat lunch here a lot during golf season. But occasionally we have dinner. Tonight was one of those nights. As usual a very good experience. Excellent staff make every effort to ensure it. The food is very similar to high end big city houses. Tonight we both had Fillet Mignon. Cook perfect. The gorgonzola butter was so good even though the steak would have been excellent without it. The house was packed up until about 7:30 so get reservations if you plan to dine prime time. Sunday's they have special pricing too. Excellent steakhouse find in this small town! I was promptly greeted, seated, and my server Morgan was very attentive. She regularly checked in after each course to make sure all was taken care of. Lobster rolls and mozzarella marinara were excellent starters, bread with fresh poured oil and parmesan, and house salad with cracked pepper and homemade ranch were all delicious. Filet medallions with marsala/mushrooms were tasty, and cooked to the proper temperature. Top shelf long island iced tea made for a good palate cleanser. Happy hour food and drink prices were on point, and there were plenty of choices. 3pm-6pm most days I think. My only complaint/suggestion would be the water. The tap water in this city has a very strong and earthy taste, and so it was painfully obvious that the water being served here was straight from the tap (I am not from the area). A quality filter (or even basic 5 gallon filtered water delivery service) would be a most welcome addition. Nobody wants to drink gross tasting tap water with an otherwise high quality meal. read more

I don't know where to start, everything was perfect!! From the moment we walked in the Managment and staff were welcoming and so sweet. My boyfriend and I came up here for a short stay from Columbus and was blown away with the resort and the Chophouse. We ordered and shared the ribeye, mashed potatoes, asparagus and chopped salad. The steak was the best I have ever tasted, so tender and flavorful, you could cut it with a butter knife!! The asparagus was so good and cooked perfect and the mashed potatoes and salad were top of the line. Our server and his trainee were amazing!!! They were very professional and so friendly and down to earth. I would recommend The Chophouse and would rate them higher than any other steakhouse. I've eaten here on a few occasions years past and was unimpressed. Went last night for a birthday party dinner (party of 16). I'll be short. Took an hour to get bread and salad. Another 50 minutes for the food to arrive. My blackened walleye was dry, overcooked. Wife's almond crusted cranberry glazed chicken was basically a dry, under seasoned deep fried chicken breast with cranberries and sauce thrown on as an afterthought. Cold coffee. I'll just stop there. Saving graces? The wait staff is friendly and attentive, as was the front of the house maitre d'. yet, this trip just reaffirmed my assessment of The Chop House- overpriced, over hyped, I can list fifteen better choices right off the top of my head. Impressively bad service all around. Tactless, rude, overpriced, and chicken was undercooked. They had a full staff and maybe 3 tables. Took 20 minutes to get a drink at the bar even though she had zero customers and no tickets and when our table was ready, Jim, the manager, told us to "Hurry up and cash out" so he could seat us. Our server was polite but very slow, never got our water refilled even once, never got a second round of drinks. We had issues with our food and Jim handled the situation poorly. We weren't rude or complaining, simply wanted our chicken cooked longer, he took everyone's food and refunded us-even though a few of us were happy with our meals. He didn't apologize and wasn't polite. Literally snatched all of our plates up and said have a nice day. Really awful. read more

Their multi course menu is a LITERAL steal... For $18 I can get soup or salad, choice of entree, oil/break, a side, and HOMEMADE dessert. Ive only been there twice (in the last 4 months) and the food was FANTASTIC. Had a steak (12oz) cooked perfectly---and this is part of the $18 deal!!! You think for that price quality might suffer but over the course of both meals...everything was awesome. The fact that homemade dessert comes with it makes it even better. Enjoyed a business dinner with an associate last evening at The Chophouse. Arrived about 5:45pm, just in time for a HH special that ended at 6pm. The special was a three course dinner which depending on your selection of entrée varied from about $16 to $23. Great selection on this menu as well as the main menu. We tried the Chicken Francise as our entrées. I had the garden salad, my associate had the caesar, both were great and flavorful. The chicken was truly tender and served hot and well presented. I enjoyed the potatoes au gratin and the other side dish was a baked potato. Again - great choices. Now about dessert - what a great selection! I had the banana cream pie, which was incredible! Folks ... make sure to save room for some banana cream pie, because you will be overwhelmed by the dessert. My associate had the peppermint ice cream which they indicated was very creamy and flavorful as well. Hadn't been to The Chophouse previously, but do recall coming to this location many years ago (10-12 years?) for a restaurant called Tavern by the Green. The Chophouse is a winner ... will be back - with more folks next time. That way I can sample a few more dishes as their selection was great. LOL OH - we also had the stuffed peppers (served 2 per order) and the hot peppers in oil. About the best of both of these items I believe I have had in the Youngstown area. Both of which I had sampled at several of the local restaurants. Sure wish other restaurants - especially in the DFW area - would serve these two items as appetizers. Went here on a Friday around 4:30. Unfortunately they were doing a special Valentine's Day weekend menu. It's essentially the normal menu with less choices and almost double price which is a ripoff in itself. I ordered a $35 8oz sirloin, medium. It arrived burnt to a crisp, like a charcoal brick, tasted terrible. Mashed potatoes were flavorless and apparently not seasoned at all. At one point I poured some water on my steak just to make it less sawdust consistency and somewhat edible, I threw away more than I ate. All the good sides or desserts are an up charge as well. Would not recommend this dump, may look nice, but food is terrible. Plenty of other restaurants in the area that are far better. read more

I attended a brunch (the afternoon before a wedding) at The Chophouse, which was conveniently located next to the hotel we were staying at (The Avalon Inn). The hosts of the brunch had rented out the entire restaurant and it was nicely decorated for the occasion. I was staying at the attached hotel recently. It was cold outside and snowing, and after skidding all over the place the last thing I wanted to do was get back in the car and search for a restaurant. Even though they closed at 9 and I called at 8:45, they still graciously agreed to do room service for me, so I didn't have to haul my lazy butt down stairs. The filet was delicious and cooked perfectly. Not the best filet I've ever had, but definitely very good. The salad that accompanied was delicious with fresh chopped veggies and lots of bleu cheese in the dressing. The mashed potatoes were awesome. I don't usually like mashed potatoes with the skins, but these almost converted me. It was also priced extremely reasonably. My filet was right around $23 and included a salad and a side. The service was, as previously mentioned, great. I've worked in restaurants before and have definitely been guilty of getting huffy when people walked in last second. They didn't at all so that was pretty freaking rad of them. They delivered the food on real plates with an actual steak knife and real silverware. Definitely check out if in the area. Don't expect Ruth Chris; take it for what it is: a great steak at a great price. read more
