Visited this restaurant several times this year. On the first visit the food and service were all very good. On the second visit there was good food but the service was marginal. Waitress messed up part of the order and when I addressed it she spoke as if I was at fault. And finally, on the last visit, the food and service were marginal at best. Waiter was distracted and not very personable. He didn't offer anything while I waited for the order or stop by and check on how everything was until the check came. Stopped in while road-tripping and looking for a nice dinner after spending way too many hours in the car. The food and atmosphere were both great, but honestly the highlight of the meal was our server, Brayden. He was just the absolute definition of a nice young man. Not the super-polished, script-perfect kind of server who makes you feel like you're watching someone who's done the same routine a thousand times, but someone who was genuinely warm, kind, and earnest. Every interaction felt sincere. When my iced tea got low, he'd quietly bring me a fresh one before I had to ask, and he looked almost apologetic that it had gotten low at all. He had this way of making it feel like he was personally hosting us and genuinely wanted us to be comfortable. There was a little bit of endearing newness, too. Instead of silently making things happen, he'd stop by to let us know our appetizer would be out before the steaks, just because he wanted to keep us informed. It wasn't inexperience so much as someone who really cared about doing a good job. He was incredibly sweet, attentive, and authentic, and that kind of service is memorable. 11/10 for Brayden--we'd happily ask to sit in his section again. The food was very enjoyable, we had: -the shrimp cocktail appetizer (excellent bite to the cocktail sauce) -salads (weirdly great, just a normal house salad but one of the better ones I've had) -ribeyes with sides (steaks were correctly medium rare, I would have loved having a smaller ribeye on the menu as well as the existing 14oz, I ordered mine with the horseradish crust which was tasty, though without the crust the underlying steak itsself was a touch under seasoned, the creamed spinach was great and the baked potato was flawless) -bread was fresh and pleasant, though the slight sweetness is not something I especially love, but that's just a style thing -chocolate mousse cake was both massive and absurdly, ridiculously good Total before tip was $125, well worth it, and I'm only sad they haven't expanded to Texas yet. read more

We didn't grab steaks when we were here recently. Wifey got the Balsamic Bleu Cheese salad with a cup of Loaded Potato Soup. Both excellent. I went for the Grilled Mozzarella Chicken sandwich. Very good. Also shared the cheesecake with strawberries. One of best cheesecakes we've had...and, we've had a few. Their menu has a good amount of options. Full bar offerings. We were seated immediately on a Monday evening. Our waitress was very good and very attentive. She knew the menu well, as well as all the beer & food recommendations. We started with sweet corn tamale cakes. I loved them! So many different flavors and something I've never tried! Hubby had a prime rib sandwich with macaroni and cheese and loved it! I had the big burger without blue cheese and french fries. It was so big! I only ate half and hubby was able to finish the hamburger. (Perhaps I filled up on the tamale cakes?!) it was very good There is outdoor seating as well as quite a bit of inside seating. If you're in the area, I would recommend stopping there. We had a disappointing meal. The sides were not what we'd ordered and the steak was significantly overcooked. The server was very sweet and trying to compensate for the mistakes and the manager came out and apologized but we left hungry with a long drive ahead of us and had to run thru a fast food restaurant before hitting the road. Based on reviews and local recommendations, we may try again on our next trip and hope for a better meal. The Chop House was an overall good experience the appetizers cheese sticks were very large and satisfying. I tried the horseradish topped steak. The horseradish topping was a little too thick and I think would have been better as a light cover instead of the thick topping that took away a little from the amazing steak. As for desserts, unfortunately my cookie crumble with ice cream was a little overdone and may have just started to burn on the bottom, it was still actually not bad but I could tell that it could've been much better! Still this is a good restaurant worth eating at with prices that weren't too much more than longhorn but with much better shrimp and steaks! Ambiance is great and interior design beautiful. Service was great, especially the bartender/server. We were celebrating a birthday and ate in the bar area. I ordered the small prime rib with a chopped salad and creamed spinach. The prime cut was very fatty and grisly. The salad was good. My spinach was very very heavy with cheese and butter. Even though my daughter told the servers she was lactose intolerant, the medallions came covered in cheese,, the tomato dill soup full of sour cream and her sweet potato smothered in butter. She had ordered it plain. My sister-in-law's food was a perfect filet. Nothing was outstanding. We started with onion rings that had little flavor and 3 very good cocktails. Lost a local customer. Very sad and disappointed after my latest dining experience. This was my go-to restaurant when I desired a "nicer" experience than most other local restaurants have to offer. Service lately has been trending downward and unfortunately tonight was just icing on the cake for me. I ordered my usual, the grilled salmon. It unfortunately was served to me very undercooked. I sent it back and didn't even get so much as an "I'm sorry, we are more than happy to remedy that for you" from the management. I am literally third trimester pregnant and served uncooked fish - I mean come onnnnn. Anyways. I send it back and wait as the rest of my party eat their meals and I sit awkwardly with no plate. Finally, a manager brings out my salmon back to me. He places it down in front of me and I couldn't help but be appalled. It was my old piece, that was already served to me undercooked(!) that I had cut open!!! I couldn't believe it! As far as I'm concerned, when a cooking error is made and a dish is sent back - a newly cooked dish is prepped and served. The old dish isn't given a full 2x round trip around the restaurant and served back to you with uneven temperatures and a sloppy presentation! This screamed terribly cheap and unprofessional to me, on top of just being flat out gross. Yes, sure, the salmon was now fully cooked - but the edges where I had cut into it before were now crisp and the whole filet was a mess of texture and different temps! I couldn't believe the manager had the nerve to place such a terribly presented dish back in front of me. I actually told him it was creepy and sent it back, requesting a new piece. Personally I didn't feel at all out of line in doing so, rather, I felt more offended how HE could seriously serve somebody such an insult! The new dish was infact remade, but took quite some time. There was no priority on it that I could see. By the time it came finally back out to me, my entire table was done eating. I was not apologized to for the mishap, I was not offered any sort of comp on the bill or free dessert even for my time... For a $30 filet I really expected better service, and most certainly understanding of any error. I still shake my head in the fact that I am quite obviously third trimester pregnant and this place had no qualms about serving me an undercooked fish. I'm sorry but some things just can't be forgotten and this place embarrassed me with my trust tonight. I feel so completely unvalued (and insulted!!) as a customer. Sadly will not be returning in my regular outings. Seriously- whoever runs this place needs to re-evaluate their younger manager with the glasses. He lost you a customer tonight. You can't try to be a fancy restaurant and then serve up cheap tricks. Gross! read more

My wife and I stopped by the Chop House while passing through for a weekend in Asheville. We were wanting a relatively quick visit, so we were happy to get seated immediately, despite it being lunchtime. I ordered a Blue Cheese Bacon Burger and my wife opted for the Teriyaki-Glazed Grilled Chicken. While we were waiting, our server brought us fresh bread and butter, which we enjoyed during the wait. The butter was quite sweet, and was improved with a sprinkle of salt, but overall quite tasty for a complementary snack. Our server was very attentive, providing water refills and replenishing the bread while we waited for our entrees. Once our plates arrived, I dove right into my burger. The first bite was quite tasty. Some of the best blue cheese I've had. It was creamy and had a delicious bite. I ate halfway through my burger when I realized that the blue cheese had only been on one side of the sandwich, the presentation side. The latter half of the burger ended up a bit dry and definitely lost a lot of flavor without the blue cheese. It definitely brought everything together. My wife really enjoyed her chicken, though thought it could have had a greater teriyaki flavor. read more

Lovely place. Feels upscale but the prices are decent. Great place for a work meetup or date night. I had the voodoo tacos with corn brûlée and as odd as that sounds, it was so good. My family and I chose to eat at The Chop House because it was the closest restaurant to us at lunch time. We took a look at the menu online and decided it would be a good option. Unfortunately the lunch menu isn't available on the weekends so we had to pivot on what we decided we wanted. The waitstaff were more than hospitable. They were attentive without being overbearing. The grilled chicken sandwich, burger, and chicken florentine flatbread were delicious, but the chicken tenders were overcooked and dry. We went for a weeding rehearsal dinner with about 20 people. They had 2 servers taking care of us. Everything moved very slowly, drinks, apps, etc. it all came out at different time for different people. I ordered a filet and it tasted like liver! I was shocked at the taste. Stayed at a local Fairfield Inn and across the street was this restaurant. It was a convenient walk. The service our waitress Ashley gave was great! She was attentive and everything we ordered came out quickly and done the way we wanted. Loved the warm bread, the salads, and our entrees. The petite fillet medium rare was scrumptious and tender. Decent overall experience ONLY after we sent the cold food back. Service was slow and she was really distracted about something that was not because of too many tables. I had to remind her to get my salad after about 20 minutes and it came super over-dressed and really messy (looked like a dirty plate because they wiped it down so sloppy. Our drinks went unfilled for about 15 minutes while waiting for dinner. When we finally got the steaks she came back a few minutes later to check on us (but was obvious she didn't want an answer as she was doing it as a flu by and didn't even make eye contact). I stopped her and told her my meat was really cold. So cold that the butter on it had not melted at all. That's pretty cold. She did take it back but it took about 15 more minutes and my fiance had totally finished his dinner by the time I got new meat. It was much better the second time around but it sucks eating alone because others are long done. I'd watched two other people at tables in our section send cold food back too. Kitchen was not on par I guess. I also watched another server stand next to the kitchen waiting for food wipe her running nose with her hand directly and not wash them before grabbing someone's food. If that had been our waitress I'd have sent all my food back. DISGUSTING. Especially during COVID. It was a hundred bucks for two people without drinks. I expect hot food, refills and prompt service for that price. The manager did table touch us and we told him about it, but nothing was done except for an apology. Since food was good we MAY be back, but if 5pm on a Sunday was this bad I'd definitely never go on a busy night. It was our anniversary. read more
