    Wine dispensers

My girlfriends came to visit me in Ventura and I was looking for a wine bar to take them too. This place was beyond my expectations! It is really quite a unique experience. We arrived around 7:30pm on a Saturday evening and were sat down immediately. Our waiter Gilbert explained to use the wine card and how it works; which I highly, highly recommend getting the wine card. Your waiter will take a credit card to physically hold in place of the wine card. You then take your wine card to any of the wine cases in the restaurant. The wine cases will show you the bottle, a label and will set a price for trying 1 oz, 2 oz and 4oz (I think). You put your card in the wine case and push the oz amount of that wine you want and it is dispensed into your wine glass. It is such a great way to try out wines that you haven't tried to see if whether or not you want to purchase a larger portion of it instead of paying $14 for a glass of wine you hate. The food is also top notch. I got the Salmon Papperdelle and it was sooo good. Great for my wine tastings. For dessert we shared an apricot bread pudding. It was also really delicious. I can't wait to go back.

We were in the hunt for restaurants with air conditioning on this very hot day and The Cave came up as a result on our Google search. The Cave was super cute. I can definitely see why they call it the cave. The presentation on the food was beautiful. The flavor was ok and the service was ok. They also had a huge event happening so maybe that's why we didn't get much service. I plan on going again to really get the vibe because I see the potential. My favorite part was the love music! Amazing!

I'm surprised by how hidden this place is but truly a hidden gem! I came here for a talk and was wondering where this place was as I had heard about it but never been. I'm so glad I came and k will be coming back. Once you go inside, it's like a wine place but you keep walking and that's where the restaurant is. The private room is super cute. I got the cave salad without onions and it was amazing. I also had their short ribs, beef, and it was outstanding. I Usually don't like mushrooms and their mushroom pizza was something else. The apricot bread pudding dessert was delicious! Everything was beyond what I expected. Service was outstanding as well. I am definitely returning and bringing my husband to try this place. Will return very soon. Thank you for the great service.

Went here as a quick stop to grab some grub and hit the road. It was a very cute restaurant, they had live music, someone playing guitar and singing. Their wine looked awesome, although we didn't try it because we had to drive. Next time! We had the meat lovers pizza and it was pretty good, I enjoyed the sausage on it. A pasta with that sausage would probably be a great idea! The service was good, she offered us ranch without us asking. Everyone said bye to us when we were leaving, even the chefs. It was a sweet little restaurant!

One of our favorite little wineries had to relocate and The Cave is the new pick up spot. We stopped by to grab a quick lunch and pick up our bottles. Lunch was great. We started with a cesar salad and then had the barramundi with veggies. Everything was cooked fresh and very nicely seasoned. We both really enjoyed our meals here. They also have wine tasting where you insert a card and can pick the amount of ounces you would like to taste. We had fun with that. Service was great, all in all we really enjoyed our first visit here.

The Cave is one of my favorite places to go when I visit Ventura. A warm and friendly greeting upon entering the restaurant always sets a positive tone. When you get inside the place, you'll understand why they call it the cave. It's cozy and chill. We didn't have to wait long for our orders to be taken. The Truffle fries are delish. The slow braised beef short ribs is my go to dish; my comfort food. I truly wished we had room for dessert because they're awesome as well. If you're in Ventura, highly recommend you check them out.

We expect a certain standard, a level of care that borders on obsession. So when I catch Evan Williams--respectable, questionable, but barely twelve bucks a bottle--making an appearance behind the bar, it feels like a breach of trust. A quiet betrayal under low lighting. The illusion only works if the details hold up under scrutiny... and that pour? It broke the spell. And then comes the real offense: discovering that your Old Fashioned--the crown jewel of any respectable cocktail program--are built on bottom-shelf, dust-collecting bourbon. That's not just a letdown, it's a slap in the face. A cocktail like that deserves reverence, not shortcuts. And as if to twist the knife, there it was--a massive can of red maraschino cherries sitting shamelessly atop the bar, like some relic from a dive that's given up on finesse. It wasn't just a misstep. It was disrespect. In a place claiming the speakeasy mantle, details like these matter. They're the difference between theater and parody. The cocktails did not warrant the $15 price tag. Moreover, I would have paid more had I know the class of bourbon upfront. What ultimately redeems the space is its ambiance. The low flicker of the fireplace, the soft embrace of worn leather sofas, the curated hum of music floating just above conversation--it's seductive, even soulful. The room itself is small, intimate--the kind of place where you're bound to recognize a face, or at the very least, feel inclined to invite a stranger to share the sofa and maybe a story. And then there's the setting--tucked beneath a historic relic, a basement bar built into the bones of old Americana. The building dates back to the early 1900s, echoing with a past that deserves to be honored, not phoned in. That's exactly why I expected more from the cocktails. A place with this much atmosphere shouldn't fall flat when it comes to what's in the glass. It's a mismatch--a beautiful stage, but a script that doesn't quite rise to meet it.

Two sisters (Elissa & Holly) married two brothers (Matt & Mike) and started this weekend project which has turned into quite a fun weekend escape. Elissa and her father, Walt, are usually manning the tasting room and are the most gracious hosts. It's a quaint, boutique winery and tasting room, which recently joined forces with the folks from Trois le Fou Winery. They each have their own tasting rooms, but they're joined and share a large production/barrel room area, which is also available for private events in addition to scheduled events and live music/comedy. They don't offer food, but you are welcome to bring in your own snacks/charcuterie. Parking is plentiful, as the business park is mostly closed on the weekends. WINES: Their wines change regularly, as they purchase their fruit from Paso Robles, Lodi, and San Antonio Valley, among other places. I think that their Sauvignon Blanc is a standard and we really enjoy it, but they also do a nice Sangiovese, Zinfandel, Malbec, Syrah, Petite Sirah, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Their "Speakeasy Wine Club" offers three levels of membership: "Blind Grape (6/yr)", "Bootlegger (12/yr)", and "Last Call (18/yr)", depending on the number of bottles you want per shipment/pick-up. Bottles currently run in the $38 - $50 range (before club member discounts). We love visiting the Lester Cellars family and highly recommend you stop in and check out their latest vintages. The service and wine are wonderful, and I'm betting you'll enjoy yourself as much as we do.

On a Thursday night it was pretty dead but we didn't mind, WE ARE the party! The restaurant/ bar is surprisingly spacious which wasn't outright apparent from the outside. Once you walk in there is a nice long bar on the right hand side. A couple of booths and plenty of tables. It was actually a lovely evening (plus our group gets loud & rowdy) so we decided to sit outside on the high top patio table. It was perfect as it could fit the seven of us no problem. Initially i worried how service would be as we were alone on the patio but immediately my concerns went away as we had a fabulous bartender named Jordan helping us out. Despite making the drinks inside and engaging with customers at the bar, he was very attentive to our outside patio group. The drinks were brought out at an impressive pace and we felt valued as customers. Jordan gave great suggestions for shooters for us to try and also was overly accommodating, by allowing us to all pay separate/individual checks per our request. I grow to appreciate that more nowadays because some businesses do give patrons a hard time about splitting tabs. I was grateful despite being a big group he was willing to accommodate us. We only came for drinks, so I can't speak for the food but this spot is a solid bar. They have some interesting cocktails and I liked that they had a couple of shooter/shot options. Good selection of beer and even some wines. I really enjoyed both my Mexican candy shot and the purple heater shot that Jordan recommended for me and a friend. Drinks were cold and they kept flowing. Easy to give this spot 5 stars as the service was good, atmosphere was welcoming, and reasonable prices for being on Main Street. I'd definitely come back and would be happy to try some appetizers next time to see how the food is. My only baby upgrade is that the patio cushions on the chairs need a good wash or to be replaced. Otherwise everything else was clean from the tables, to the bar area, to the restrooms etc. The patio just needs a tiny bit of TLC which a couple of us noted. We had a great experience here though and I'm glad we stumbled upon this spot.
