Excellent, so glad we stopped! We stopped by The Catch unexpectedly one Friday night on our way to Houston. There was quiet a line inside of the restaurant, but that was a great sign! The line went fairly quickly and the food was served at a great pace too. We got the cold peel-and-eat shrimp, crawfish ettoufee, and the crab legs with the mixture of Cajun and lemon/garlic sauce. Boy was the flavor delicious! The shrimp was super fresh and eat shrimp was quite large. The crab legs were cooked perfectly and had TONS of flavor! I love a book with a great flavor profile. We will definitely go back! I want to try all the other sauce options. Plus, this place was great enough for us to be willing to drive an hour out of Houston just for some great food! read more

Beware: Bad service and bad food! The Service: The cashier was very impolite and appeared to be bothered while taking my order when I had questions about the menu as a first time customer. The food (shrimp) was not cooked well done as per my specific instructions and no apology nor refund offered by cashier and she had a smart attitude when I asked her if she told the kitchen to make it well done. I had to ask for a manager, but by that time, I was already turned off by the experience. Will not return. The Food: The "jumbo" shrimp is definitely not jumbo in reality. The Fried green tomatoes were soggy and red beans and rice was watery. The boiled potatoes and corn were bland with no seasoning. Bad, terrible, no recommend for anyone! Today I buy 2 to go orders and one of my orders was incomplete they only served the 8 shrimps and missed the corn. I didn't found out till I got home, I called them and reported the problem, told them I will go back later because the traffic was so bad and took me 45 minutes just to get home. Then started raining, I eat the shrimp since I was hungry and called them back to tell them I will pick up the corn tomorrow due to is been raining. The manager literally told me I needed to bring the food because people lie to get free food. I told him I already eat the shrimp and can't take it for him to see it, then he when on and told me that I am the manager and can give you free food since I work in inventory. He said I personally pack your food and remember serving the corn. I told him "Really, I pay for the food already, but is ok you can enjoy the corn on my name since you working on inventory and enjoy the lost of a customer and gained this bad review". Small place. You order at the counter like at a fast food joint. The counter service could definitely be better. They have beer, wine and liquor (in small airplane bottles). Seriously shocked that this place has so many good reviews. People are desperate for new restaurants and seafood in Conroe, I guess. Went on a Friday night about 6, place seemed busy but not swamped, but no available seating without dirty dishes. There were crumbs and trash all over the floor. When I cleared a booth for my companion and I to sit and brought the baskets left by previous customers up to leave on the counter, instead of, "Hey thanks," I got chewed out by one of the staff for not letting them clean despite the fact that customers who had already ordered up front were standing around waiting for tables nobody was bussing! Should have walked out then and there. Took a very long time to get our order. My companion's shrimp poorboy was bland and soggy. The bread looked like it had hit the toaster for maybe 5 seconds. His shrimp was not properly cleaned, and 3 times he found shells while chewing! The tartar sauce was awful. It tasted like it had spoiled. Fries were average. My oyster basket was a joke; 5 tiny, limp, underdone lumps with crumbling breading, and the onion "rings," actually strings, were DRIPPING with grease! It was so disgusting that I sent it back and got red beans and rice as my side item, a dish so unexpectedly spicy hot that my lips burned for an hour afterward. (Kind of offset the restaurant temperature, as it was uncomfortably cold in the dining area.) The hush puppies were the best things out of my dinner. Every seafood item in a basket other than popcorn shrimp or chicken tenders is extra, so not a good value. Prices aren't any better than more upscale establishments with actual waiters and decent food. This is evidently a recently-opened franchise location, so, since still new, the experience should have been much better. Absolutely not worth the money, in my opinion. You guys have a very rude person working the drive thru tonight. I pulled up. Before I could get my window down, I heard them finishing a statement but didn't catch it. Sat there for another 5 minutes in silence. Finally, politely summoned whomever was supposed to be on the line. They were silent. Waited another 3 minutes, said "hello" again. This time, a rude voice snapped back and said "I asked you for a few minutes". Oh no, ma'am. Me and the $20 I was willing to spend for a dish can take ourselves elsewhere so I drove off. We're all stressed at a time like this but what we don't need is to be rude to each other especially if you're depending on that customers contribution to help keep the doors open. I've passed by The Catch several times while running errands in Conroe. My fiance and I were excited to try it after reading all of the great reviews online. We decided to order through the drive-through since COVID restrictions prevented us from eating inside. We ordered the gumbo, fried shrimp, red beans and rice, beignets, fried catfish, green beans, hush puppies, and french fries. Sadly nothing we received was tasty. The gumbo had an odd taste to it, more like a tomato stew with sausage and chicken than a gumbo. The hush puppies were dry and flavorless. The beignets were chewy and extremely hard to bite into. They tasted like overcooked biscuits sprinkled with powdered sugar. The fried foods were soggy even though we ate them immediately after receiving them in the drive-through. I had high hopes for this place but the food is underwhelming and for the price, I would rather drive a little further and have a much more flavorful and authentic meal. read more

My girls daughter wanted to eat here and I'm sure glad she did! Everyone else's order was right except mine. The cook had left my snow crab in to boil too long and meant to cook a new batch. However it got thrown in with my shrimp and sent out. The manager came to our table about the time I was cracking. She had the fresh order in her hand! Very apologetic. No big deal and thanks for taking care of me. Few minutes later she brings me a credit to my bill for my order. The food we all ordered was great. My girl helped me eat my order so I had to go order more crab. Second order was just as good as the first. I hope ownership and management read this. My husband and I were visiting the outlet in Conroe and decided to stop here for dinner before heading back home. I am pleased with our decision to eat here. Service: When you walk in you look at the menu and order right at the register. The cashier was very friendly and helpful. You just feel a bit rushed because if you never been there you really don't know what to order meanwhile there is a line forming behind you. Atmosphere: The atmosphere is very family oriented. There were table set up to accommodate small and large groups. It feels a bit cramped but that didn't bother us. The place was nice and clean . Food: I ordered the grill catfish with red beans and rice, and gumbo. My husband ordered the blackend catfish with red beans and rice, and cheese grits. Everything on the plate was delicious and seasoned to perfection. I don't eat crawfish but I saw sever people eating them. Pros: Reasonable prices, good service and excellent food, great for large groups and families Cons: The ordering process, and it's a bit cramped when crowded. We've been here serval times. Each time we've tried the boiled and fried seafood. The boil has been a disappointment each time. It doesn't have enough flavor and spice but we love the fried food. Free drinks are your basic frozen machine drinks and for some reason I was told I couldn't mix certain flavors which I found strange but they are ok for bending free. Had the popcorn shrimp po boy which came with 2 hush puppies & a side for $8.99 (no drink). The menu choices sounded really good. I chose the fries & had my shrimp fried & the fries were very good. Long thin & fresh with some cajun seasoning. The po boy was on fresh French bread but that's mostly what it consisted of. Didn't have a whole lot of flavor. I'd rate it as average. The hubs also had the shrimp po boy but blackened & for his side, he chose grilled veggies. He said he doesn't think his shrimp was actually blackened because there literally was no spice & the veggies were soggy. Both of our hushpuppies were overcooked & dry. I may give them a 2nd chance to try their gumbo but only because their aren't many options for gumbo in our area. If so I will post an honest review as always. read more

Limited items on menu. "Fried Fish is listed often and when I asked what type of fish it was, the reply was that it was in the "Catfish family". They did have a limited listing of catfish, which I chose one of. Had the cole slaw and hush puppies. Fish appeared to be cooked but was very mushy. I can't recall having such bad catfish in many, many years. Cole slaw had a certain "flavor" which turned me off. Hush Puppies were very good. All in all, meal was pretty sorry. This is the best seafood I have had in a long time. Fried green tomatoes were hand breaded and golden brown that melt in your mouth. We shared the Catch 22 plate with okra instead of fries. Everything was cooked to perfection. The fried shrimp was succulent and tender. Key Lime Pie was to die for!!! Smoooooth! Extremely impressed with all levels of service.
