Last summer we were updating our rental house with new flooring. We picked out a product at Carpet Stop and had it installed. About a month ago we noticed that a few of the planks were coming up, so we called and Carpet Stop sent one of their installers to check it out. Imagine if you put a quarter in a bum's coffee cup and he gave it back to you and said "Dimes only please!" I'll tell you what. You'd probably be looking at a pretty skinny bum. The competition is merciless and the stakes are high so we treat literally EVERY single customer like they are a piece of gold when at best they are usually fool's gold or just a turd. I needed to get carpet installed within two days as I was preparing to list my house for sale. I called up Carpet Stop and Dustin described a few carpets over the phone that sounded like what I was looking for. I then looked up pictures online and chose the best color for our needs. A few emails back and forth with Dustin and the appointment was set. The installers came a couple days later and did a great job with the install. I've never purchased carpet before, but when you're going nuts getting your house on the market it's nice to only have to spend 5-7 minutes to get the carpet selected, deposit made, and appointment set. I had a pretty big job. We ripped out old tile, put in new tile on the first floor, put hand-scraped wood flooring in my office, vinyl plank in our craft room, and super soft carpet upstairs. We probably did about 2500 square feet. The overall job took a full six days. I quoted a few places for the job. I had formal quotes from Carpet Stop, CRT Flooring, Independent Contractors, Floor and Decor, Lowe's, and Home Depot. I was probably at 15 flooring places in all! A lot of the places had specials going (cash back, coupons, rebates, free gifts, etc), but Jim at Carpet Stop gave me a flat overall price. Jim's flat overall price factored in all of the "specials", and he actually came in lower than the other bids. However, it was really the customer service that sold us. The other flooring places took forever to get back to us if we had questions. However, Jim either always answered the phone or got back to us right away. He was able to put up with us every time we changed our minds about something! We wound up upgrading our grout, and Jim gave us the grout upgrade at cost! When they were installing the grout, it turns out I needed more than the manufacturer recommended, but Jim covered that cost without any problem. The install guys were great. Carpet was installed per specification, tile guys were very detailed oriented, and they all did everything that I asked without complaining at all. Jim also stopped by a couple times to check on the install and answer any questions we had. After the install was completed, they cleaned everything up and my home was beautiful. A week after install, Jim even called up to check on everything. I wholeheartedly recommend this place. read more

Just finished up installation of new carpet, laminate wood and tile flooring. Could not be happier with the job Jim and his crew did for us. We had planned on going with vinyl wood plank flooring for one part of the job but ran into problems with the subfloor. Jim and his team came up with a workable solution and never missed a beat. This place has a great price on their "in stock" stuff. 2 different shades of beige with touches of brown mixed in and a standard 8lb pad. Well we finally have carpet and it's thanks to Carpet Stop! We went to Lowe's and HD and they wanted between $900-$1600 for 2 rooms. 900 low quality and 1600 being good or decent. Also would be 4-6 weeks before having it installed. So we decide to try here. Walked in and got with Dustin who showed us around. He said it'd be a couple weeks of we ordered carpet but a week if we saw anything we liked in the warehouse. So we looked. Found a really nice and soft carpet and decided to get a quote. 700 and some change installed. Came out the NEXT day and it was installed within an hour. We chose Carpet Stop based on the Yelp reviews. Good decision. We needed all-new carpet in our home's bedrooms plus some outdoor carpeting on the patio. We started at Home Depot, which had great prices and cheap installation but offered very little help understanding the differences in carpet fiber types, weights, and pad choices. Their $50 basic installation also got expensive for any extras like moving furniture. Carpet Stop was competitively priced with HD, and our salesperson Ryan helped us make a more informed decision regarding what carpet and pad to go with. He also booked their preferred local installers to put it all in. The installation crew was fast and did an amazing, professional job. I was only going in to buy a small quantity of carpet, but the service I got would have made anyone think I was buying for a large commercial job. It made no difference to the salesman that was happening whether I chose the $600 quote or the double $1100 quote --He was happy to sell me either. After leaving with his card and the quote I saw that he was the President --Jim. Great experience. Not for me. The shopping experience felt very sleezy. I was told one thing over the phone, and then it felt like a shake down when I was there in person. The sales person also seemed uninterested and quite frankly rude after he found out that I only needed one or two rooms. I guess not enough money in it for him to bother with me. Coupled with the fact that a bug flew in my face and the salesperson did not even flinch or ask if I was ok. Not what I expected. Needless to say I will be taking my business elsewhere. I first used this company back in mid-90's and have used twice since. Dropped in about 5 weeks ago, worked w/the owner Jim Terlinga, who recognized me from the last 3 times I had worked w/this company, on choosing tile. Left, considered, went back to tell him what I wanted. Asked to speak to Jim. He came out, a bit harried. I said I could talk w/someone else, but he said no, he could help. Then he told me I couldn't get what I wanted, so I had to re-select. He sounded impatient, I told him I could work w/someone else. He said he could do it, but next time, make an appt.?! An hr. later, we found the perfect thing. He told me someone would confirm appt. No confirmation, so I made other plans. Ryan, mgr., rescheduled. He came out to do the sketch, to measure, etc., and he was to give me names of contractors they recommended. He left. 2 weeks later, I sent an email to Jim asking if they did not want to work w/me as I heard nothing back. No response. 3 weeks after appt., I called to ask Jim for explanation. Referred to acting mgr, as Ryan not in. They could see no notes on Ryan's drawing. Said they would call me back, and again the store owner apparently did not want to talk w/me. Disappointing after all this time to be treated like this. I'll order elsewhere. This was bathroom flooring, and all wall tile. read more

I've purchased many shades and styles of green carpets from Carpet Stop over the last several years for my slot car tracks, and have always been happy with their product and helpfulness. When I was looking to replace some carpet in my home with wood floors, I asked them who they would recommend. Jim told they did wood, too! Since this was going to be a large and expensive job in the thousands of dollars, I met with them and two other reputable companies to meet them and get quotes. Carpet Stop was in line with the other bids, and actually only higher than the lowest bid because they included shim molding that the other company did not. They worked with me all the way, were honest about the availability of the product and their installation schedule, and they did a wonderful job. Our floors look great, were within our budget, and done on our schedule. If you need carpet, there is no better place, but I found out that also holds true for wood, and probably tile, too! read more

Wonderful customer service. Good(quality and variety) products and a wide range for any budget. What the hell do I know about flooring? I had a lot of help picking out carpet and tile that looks GREAT and at a price that I felt I was not being robbed. I mean..there are a TON of carpet places out there, and on this particular job, I could have been taken for a ride. This didnt happen here. They are honest. I'd recommend Carpet Stop, but not their install team. Carept installers had to revisit the house and re-adhere several spots that were not secured properly. Tile installer had to revisit the house and regrout a few tile spots. And he walked on my brand new carpet without putting a runner down. But the customer service was so good, I still give 4 stars. I purchased carpet for my house on Vallecito in 2001 when I bought it. After 10 years, it was time to replace the downstairs bedroom carpet, so I went back to Matt York at Carpet Stop on Anderson Lane (512-419-1144). Matt handled the 2001 job and also carpeted the house I sold at the same time. I had a good memory of the prior transactions. This was a small job, just one bedroom and the bath area, about 300 square feet. We chose a carpet and a color, Matt priced it more competitively than the other carpet stores, and scheduled the installation on a Saturday. The color was a terrible clash with our wall color and a new granite countertop. We checked the sample and realized the sample might have been too small to accurately determine the full size contrast. It appeared that the sample was also a slightly different color. We called Matt. He had us pick out another style and color (same manufacturer, Shaw), and filed a claim with the manufacturer. A few weeks later we had the replacement carpet installed. The new carpet was priced a little higher so we paid the difference in price, $79. We paid no removal charge, no restocking fee, and no installation fee on the new carpet. This is the third time that Matt York at Carpet Stop has helped with my carpet needs. It is the first time I've had a problem, which brings out the true nature of any retailer or professional trade.
