My mom and I met up with 2 friends here for dinner. I got the sparkling mojito which was great after a good stir. Our waiter Mark was excellent! We all did the filet, I had mine medium done and my mom and friends did the gorgonzola crust on top of their fillets. This was always a nice dining experience- good steaks, good servers, but the ambiance has gone down hill when the clientele dress like they're at Denny's. I don't know when it became acceptable for baseball caps to be worn at the table, or tattered t-shirts, but it does have a negative impact for everyone. when I asked the hostess what the dress code is, she said no athletic wear. I would have given 5 stars, but 3 items ordered left a lot to be desired. We ordered Oysters on the half shell, and they were very small. We should have been told of this to decide on another appetizer. Also ordered was Lobster Bisque and it was the first time we have been served a cup $17 instead of regular size. The sliced filet was delicious, but the potatoes au gratin recipe had to have changed as it had a pungent smell and did not taste good. Very nice man but the service wasn't what I should get when I pay $300 for dinner. The ambiance is good, it's what a chain steak house ambiance should be. Nice tasting blue point Connecticut oysters, but not much bigger than a quarter or half dollar. The salads were tasty. I had the cobb with blue cheese, and large bacon bits. My entree was the dry aged 24 oz porterhouse steak. That's the reason for the 3-star rating. The filet portion of the cut was good, but the rest of it was barely tolerable. I had to return to plate about 12-15 pieces that could not be chewed. I was the unlucky one, because a buddy next to me at the table ordered the same thing. His was fine. It was deconstructed with hardboiled egg, whole capers and onions were set on the side of the whole dish of steak. The actual mains were great. I had the 22oz bone in ribeye which was very small for a 22oz. Looked like more like 12-14oz. The strip was amazing and I will order that next time. 14oz that was bigger than my 22oz. Fillet was beautiful cooked perfectly and was a good portion. Massive wine selection and lots of great options for $40-60/ bottle. Desserts were also not shabby here. Chocolate coffee cake was excellent. The creme brulee was excellent. The coconut cream pie was cute with lots of whip cream and little of the coconut custard. I am a big fan of the Capital Grille in Jacksonville, however the Naples location surpasses every other location. The ambience is to die for between the stuffed deer heads on the wall, red leather barstools and furniture, the dim lighting, and the exquisite portraits on the wall. I decided to dine at the bar today. Although i started with a few woodford old fashionedes, I worked my way up to an appetite after a few cocktails. even though I was there for lunch, the bartender offered me the dinner special of lobster tail with a side of my choice which I paired with truffle fries. The truffle fries were very crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and strong in their truffle and herb flavor. The lobster was served with drawn butter and lemon which topped off the decadent flavor of the Alaskan lobster tail. The lobster was broiled to perfection and had the slightest char on the corners which left the inside tender and juicy but the outside remained smokey! Both of these paired with a Cabernet recommended by the amazing bartender which made for the perfect lunch. The service was astounding, the food was cooked to perfection and came out at a reasonable pace, and the woodford old fashionedes were absolutely to die for!
