Beware when ordering!! I ordered gluten free cupcakes for a family member with celiac disease. I specified GF and celiac disease when ordering. After eating one of the cupcakes, she became violently ill VOMITING for hours. When I called and spoke to the owner, I barely received an apology and was never offered a refund. He said that the order was not marked gluten free. Customer service is awful, sloppy and extremely insensitive! read more

The Cake Gallery has a lot of potential, because they make great-tasting cakes. However, when using them for our wedding we were very dissatisfied. To start, they never told us they were using a different email than what was posted on their website, so we sent many emails about the details for our selection to the wrong account (none of them were received...). To make matters worse, they decided to call the bride ON the wedding day asking her questions about details for our cake (details that should have been asked/understood weeks prior!). They ended up making the wrong type of cake for us, the cake design was not the quality we were hoping for, and the display they set up for us had to be redone by our caterer. Until they get more organized, we would not recommend them for weddings. read more

The Cake Gallery cakes are amazing! Not only do they taste amazing but they are always so beautiful. We get all of our special occasion cakes there. Our favorite is very traditional, the yellow cake with the frosting as the filling. The best part is the next day the cake tastes even better! Everyone that works there are wonderfull! I ordered a 1/2 sheet cake for my mother-in-law's 101 birthday. It was beautifully decorated and absolutely delicious. It was carrot cake with a cream cheese/buttercream frosting. I have purchased al least 6 cakes from this bakery -- and every one of them has been amazing. The Peanut Butter Blast is a must-have for anyone who enjoys a Reese's cup. Their coconut and lemon cakes just may be perfect -- as is the carrot cake! I am absolutely disgusted with the way that this situation was handled by Paul (the so called "business" owner). I ordered a cake 7/21/2015 for a party on 7/25/2015 and when ordered informed Paul of two allergies (peanuts and blue dye) and specifically told him that yellows and oranges were okay. When the cake was picked up at 1:00pm on 7/26/2015 I found that they had put purple and green on the cake I ordered. Well common sense and the things were taught in grade school purple and green both contain blue dye. The cake was for my 70 year old grandma (surprise party) who could now not eat her own cake because they were too negligent to look at the slip. So right away I called the cake gallery and informed them of the mistake. The girl on the phone said "well the baker is not in right now but you can come back later and we can scrap off the purple and rewrite it in yellow" Well the party was in an hour so I could not wait. She stated that I would get 10% off of my next purchase. Well since the baker wasn't in i got off the phone and decided to call back another day. I called on 7/31/2015 (giving them the benefit of the doubt I was going to order another cake for my sons birthday) and this time i asked to speak to Paul, so when i told him what happened he asked me what happened when my grandmother would eat blue dye (as if to say it wasn't serious). I told him the outcome should not matter an allergy is an allergy. He then told me that my grandma could have cut a piece of the cake without the purple (which was all over the sides and top of cake). He also stated that he could not refund me a cake for an allergy for one person, "since everyone else apparently enjoyed the cake". He never said he was sorry once and then since my son has an allergy to peanuts i told him i was not comfortable ordering from him unless he could confirm it would be done the correct way. He said okay no problem and was quick to get me off of the phone rather than keep me as a customer. I am never going back to them again. I must say the cake tasted good (which is why i even gave 1 star) but too bad my grandmother could not enjoy it. read more

WOW. Just WOW. My sweet tooth was craving something yummy and sweet so i decided to brave this nasty weather to grab my co-workers and I some cupcakes because if I'm going down, I'm taking them all with me! Lol. A friend at work mentioned this bakery and said it was a close drive. The Cake Gallery is located right in downtown Bristol so parking can be tight but I managed to find some..... Hmmm wonder why with all the rain and wind. I chose a few different flavors. The peanut Butter Cream, Tangy Lemon and Mixed Berry. The girl behind the counter was super friendly and sweet. I had called Dibs on the peanut butter one and OMG!!! After one bite, I literally took a whole cupcake to the face!! It was just that good! I looked like a messy 5 year old when it was all said and done but it was totally worth it! The cupcake was so moist and the frosting was whipped and light. There was even a surprise fudgy middle!! Apparently all the cupcakes had a surprise middle that went with the kind of cupcake it is. If you are in the area and have a sweet craving, check them out. The cupcakes were $2.75 each and a good size. I will be a frequent visitor there. They also make custom cakes and wedding cakes. I also only gave 4 stars because of parking. I'm sure it would be tricky to park with good weather. read more

I was hoping to have a good experience with this bakery because I love to support local businesses. With that being said, I will not be returning in the future. We ordered the cake a week in advance for my sister's graduation party. My mother put in the order in front of me and no one checked the spelling of the name, however my sister's name is common and recognizable so I didn't think anything of it. When I picked up the cake the day of the event, the name was spelled incorrectly. I wasn't too upset at first because I understand mistakes happen. I brought it back to the bakery to be told there were no more piping bags with blue frosting and the employee doesn't even do the lettering- as if I was just supposed to take the cake as is with the wrong name. The employee tried to fix it which I appreciate, but the name looked smudged and as if someone wiped the lettering with their fingers. $34 for an incorrect cake, and a sloppy fix. No money was offered back, no discount, or even a coupon or a free item. I am only giving this two stars and not one because I appreciate the employee trying to fix it and I know how frustrating the food service business can be. All in all, this bakery proved to be disappointing and I will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

I've given this place multiple opportunities to redeem themselves but this last cake order just proved the poor customer service. It's disappointing when you go to order a cake and spoke to in an abrasive manner. Everything I wanted on the cake seemed to be an issue. When you are in the customer service business you do as the customer wants. I received the cakes after multiple unrespnded emails and call to confirm cake details over the phone and was told they were to busy to talk that I needed to call back at a different time. Also telling me there would be added prices that were not in original price. However once I received cakes they were not as I wanted from the detailed email sent. This just adds unneeded stress.It's disappointing to receive a cake where you spend a lot of money and not get what you want. I wish they would practice better customer service and it would help them keep customers. read more

Needed a cake for my parents' 50th anniversary. Spoke with Tony who helped steer us in the right direction. We all wanted a cake that was not too sweet and he suggested the white cake with strawberry filling and their whipped cream frosting. Absolutely the right choice and absolutely one of the best cakes any of us have had. The cake was dense but moist and not too heavy and neither the filling nor the frosting was too sweet. The non cake eaters in our family have been having a piece every day, which is a huge compliment in itself. We highly recommend The Cake Gallery! read more

My fiance and I didn't want to have a traditional wedding cake, we just wanted to order five basic separate cakes to serve buffet style. We emailed this business in May to try and place that order and were told to call on the phone to discuss it. We played phone tag for about a month before finally getting the owner, Paul, to talk on the phone. He told me that I would need about 5 cakes but I would have to visit the shop to order them. I live in Brooklyn, so we planned to visit at an agreed-upon time. When we drove up for our final trip to finalize wedding planning we found the shop closed when we arrived. A worker who happened to be there opened the door for us and assured us that since it was a simple order we could place it by phone. We went home and finally got Paul on the phone again, and he told us that despite the prices and flavors displayed on the board, he would charge us double the price for a wedding cake. When we said we didn't want a wedding cake then accused us of trying to build our own wedding cake and of making up all of the phone calls that we had previously had where we had discussed having 5 individual cakes at the price advertised in the shop. Throughout all of this, Paul was hostile and unfriendly. We'd been warned by a local business not to use Cake Gallery but were hoping since it was such a simple order it would turn it out okay. Great Baker, but needs a business manager. We ordered three dozen cupcakes for a birthday party a week before the day. Offered to pay in advance, told not necessary. All good so far, but when we went to pickup the order, the bakery had "forgotten" the order altogether, and on arrival we were told by the clerk that the baker had left for the day and could not be reached. I don't think so. After our insistence, the clerk called the baker well after he had left for the Christmas Holiday (this was on Christmas Eve) and he returned to the Bakery and managed to make up our order and have it ready two hours later. Haven't tasted the cupcakes yet, but I'll bet they're good. Just be absolutely sure you call to check on your order at least twice, well in advance of the event. Customer service entails more than just making a good cake; it's important that the orders are fulfilled and ready on time and never "forgotten". Oh, and when asked for a few small bags for guests to carry their cupcakes home, we were told "I'll have to charge you" $0.05 per bag. No big deal, just an annoyance and dismal customer service. Next time we'll go to Barrington instead. read more

I've been going to the Cake Gallery for 8 years now. The cakes were always amazing! However, with the last 2 cakes there had been problems with the design. But I kept returning to the bakery. Today I picked up a cake and again there were details missing. When I brought it to Paul's attention he was very indifferent. He made excuses such as there's nothing he can do, he's not a robot, he felt it would be to much to add the name to the cake. I said this was the 3rd cake that there had been a mistake on and he responded "I make lots of cake". Well Paul I'm sorry to say you lost a good customer today. I had always thought he would make my daughters wedding cake this upcoming fall, but I need someone who will not make mistakes and will listen to what I want! Ordered a cake that should have read God Bless Lennox and Christian with gender neutral colors. Cake was picked up on a Sunday and once we realized that the cake read, "God Bless Christiana" (not Christian) without my nieces name anywhere and frosted with pink and purple they were already closed for the day. We called on Tuesday when they re-opened and I was appalled at the owner Paul's reaction and tone with a customer that has been using them for years. On top of the fact that I have referred a ton of business to him through my time as an event planner. He said it was our fault for not checking the cake before we left. He offered to give us $27.50 toward a future cake ($55 for a 10" cake=rip off). He acted like he was doing us this huge favor even going as far as to say that he never refunds money for his mistakes. How often does this actually happen?? No money back! Yes you heard me right! Who blames a customer for their obvious and blatant mistake in. This is a memory for our children that we wont get back. How embarrassing it was for us to have to show our family this as well. Completely appalled and saddened by this poor customer service and combativeness that we received from Paul. Needless to say we will not be using Paul and the Cake Gallery any longer. read more

I live near New Bedford and have yet to find a good cake bakery in the area and I needed one for a very special birthday party.I checked Yelp and i found one in Swansea right outside of Fall River. Took the drive and it was closed for august(so glad it was cause I found the cake gallery because of it).Checked Yelp again in the car and the Cake Gallery came up in Bristol. so we drove even further to Bristol and found the shop. Spoke with Paul I believe and he made some great suggestions. He even noticed the logo on my shirt which was part of the event and he said he could do it. Went back a couple days later and picked up the most amazing looking cake. Colors were amazing and the frosting was iridescent . The logo was fantastic. Everyone raved about the cake at the party. It was rich and moist and the flavors great. Paul was fantastic. Thank you. I will have to problem heading back to Bristol for other cakes. read more
