We found our way through the sea of hallways to the Sarcastic Sweets storefront, which is only open on Fridays from 12-4PM. We were greeted nicely by the woman working the counter and liked the selection of flavored coffees. Sarcastic Sweets seems to mostly operate on per-orders and they also have a food truck, but there were a number of baked items in the case on the counter and we chose a bbq chicken calzone, which was very good. It was super hot the day we visited, but if it had been a cooler day, we would have enjoyed the Lorraine Mills outdoor seating area. We haven't tried the food truck, but hope to catch them in our area soon!

We ordered the milk & cookies (consisting of the oreo maddness & s'mores cookies with a glass of whole milk) and the cookie sandwich (2 m&m cookies with vanilla ice cream). The cookies were gigantic, but they were not good: they were either too dry or too doughy, and not flavorful at all. We couldn't really taste the difference between any of the cookie flavors. The ice cream was also not good, certainly not fresh, as if it was right out of a frozen ice cream tub from Wal Mart. I can't say I'd recommend this one.

What a sweet little experience this was!…read more With short notice, I needed a cake with a custom message on it. I called LaSalle Bakery first to ask if they had blank cakes & the ability to customize them quickly & they said yes. So I headed over to LaSalle on Smith Street. When I arrived (at around 2 PM) it was so busy! The line was long, the tables were full, & it was very noisy. The staff seemed very young to me, but they were working with such professionalism & efficiency, it made them appear older. When I reached the front of the line, the young man talked me through the cake options very kindly & thoroughly, not allowing the potential stress of the long line behind me get to him. The cake options were varied & fun. The difference between a medium cake & a large cake was only a matter of $5 ($45 vs. $50) so I of course opted for the larger cake. It provided more room for the message I wanted to request, also. A different staff member took my cake to the back to customize it. I caught glimpses of her hard at work from where I stood waiting. It took her about 5-8 minutes to customize the cake, & when she returned, I was so impressed with her handiwork. She squeezed a very long message into a relatively small space & the script was still beautiful! I couldn't eat the cake because I'm gluten intolerant, LOL! But it was a great hit at my party & the people that I shouted out in the writing on top were thrilled with the result. I would definitely return for a customized cake again in the future.

I found the shop tucked away in my old stomping grounds, and when my GPS announced I had arrived, I was pleasantly surprised to see it now occupies what used to be a beloved old Italian bakery. There's a small parking lot right next to the well-marked entrance, and their adorable bespectacled cupcake logo makes for a charming first impression. Inside, the space is a nostalgic dream for fans of all things pop culture. The décor spans across countless beloved universes--Marvel, Star Wars, Disney, Harry Potter, Pokémon, Mario, and more. Familiar faces like Batman, Spiderman, Thor, and the Hulk line the walls and shelves, giving the whole place a fun and immersive vibe. But let's talk about the real stars: the baked goods. The display at the entrance is packed with eye-catching treats--cakes, cupcakes, cookies, and beyond. Everything looked just as mouthwatering in person as it did in the photos that initially drew me in. In addition to desserts, they also offer cannoli, cinnamon rolls, brownies, breakfast wraps, sandwiches, bagels, toasts, bowls, and a variety of drinks including coffee, smoothies, and iced options. Since I was there for cupcakes, I picked out three flavors: Mocha Cappuccino, Banana Pudding, and Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana. I only got to try the two banana ones, but both were delicious. The Mocha one smelled heavenly though! A surprise bonus--the cupcakes had fillings, which I wasn't expecting. The frosting-to-cake ratio was perfect, and the cake itself was light and fluffy, yet sturdy enough to hold up the frosting. The owner was super helpful in guiding my selections and genuinely lit up when I asked about the bakery's background and theme. They host themed events too--like an upcoming Star Wars Day breakfast with a buffet, character meet-and-greets, goodie bags, and more. I don't live in the area anymore, so coming back would be a special treat--but I definitely plan to. Getting out of the parking lot was a bit tricky due to the busy nearby intersection, but it wasn't too hard to navigate. A small inconvenience considering everything this place has to offer. Bottom line: this bakery is a delightful, nerdy, sugar-filled gem. A perfect place to treat yourself!

This morning, I decided to swing thru on my way to see my mother. On Charles St in the north end of Providence, this quaint spot proudly announced itself to the neighborhood with the building and trash cans matching the Italian tri colors of their open flag waving in the wind. Inside was a gorgeous selection of pastries, prepared foods, breads and more. I was there for two reasons, pizza strips and zeppole. My targets were acquired, plus an apple turnover and I took my goodies to Bristol. The strips delicious, soft but not mushy. They still have some chew to it but it gave easily when you bit into it. The sauce was generous and garlicky. Every bite made you want to take another! I'm glad I got two! The zeppole was great. The pastry was crisp and tasted fresh. The custard was similar to vanilla pudding in taste and very smooth, too. They put just the right amount. It was easy to eat where you had filling in each bite but it didn't overflow and make a mess. Finally, the apple turnover was awesome. The pastry was flaky and a little extra crispy from the sugar crust on top. The apple filling was all the way through the pastry, so even though we split the turnover three ways, each of us were able to have the same experience. Overall, I am pleased to have found this spot. I'm definitely coming back. I now have 4 places off the top of my head within 10 minutes if my house to get fantastic pizza strips. Super happy about the recommendation!

The pastry cases were filled with delectable treats. We ordered coffees and resisted the sweet temptations, opting for a baguette instead. The coffees were very good and the baguette was delicious. I was a little surprised at the price of the baguette - $6 (Panera is $3.99 as a comparison). We had errands to run so we took our coffees to go, but the seating area at the Admiral Street location was spacious and seemed a lot more chill than the bustling Smith Street bakery. The prices are definitely higher than many other bakeries in the greater Providence also. We bought a pumpkin pie which was around 20.00. Unfortunately it was more llike pumpkin mousse. We could barely taste any pumpkin. Canned pumpkin pie fill is so inexpensive that we were upset that it had so little actual pumpkin in the pumpkin pie. A pumpkin pumpkin pie should be a dark orange brownish color. The pie was light orange in color. The apple pie was ok, but the apples were too firm and it almost tasted like a no sugar added apple pie. Lasalle bakery, you can do better.

It's exactly what you'd hope for: classic chocolate chip flavor, delicious brownie cookie flavor with that Nutella stuffing sandwiched in between both doughs which actually has a balanced sweetness without being overwhelming. Definitely worth going out of your way for. This cookie HIT! I also tried a few other items: * The cookie dough truffles were solid. Fun and indulgent, deff a sleeper hit. * The snickerdoodle cookie was solid but not the main event. Thin, chewy, with crispy edges which I love so nailed the texture perfectly. Just wish it had more snickerdoodle flavor. * The cookie dough cheesecake didn't hit for me. I lean more toward a classic vanilla-forward cheesecake, the edible cookie dollop was good though. What really stands out about this place is the variety. Cookies, cupcakes, pies, cheesecakes, brownies and they even take custom cake orders. It feels like one of those spots where you can keep going back and trying something new every time. Overall: worth the visit, especially for the Nutella cookie.

They had worked with Crystal in the past few years for birthdays, weddings, and anniversary celebrations, among others. All my connections had made note with regard to how detail oriented and delicious her work was every time. Of course, we asked to book a tasting and meeting immediately. Crystal was wonderful to us at the tasting, marking a personalized sign and running through the various flavors her clients often enjoy. She went through each of the sheet and tiered cake options, and even provided different designs she imagined for us based on our colors and theme. And her quote was fantastic! In the end, we were so delighted that we chose a three-tiered, salted pretzel and lemon cake for our wedding. A different flavor for different tiers. Come the day of the wedding, we were not disappointed. The cake came out incredibly beautiful.
