Ok. So where do I start. First, we thought this was Island Thyme. Well they went out of business and The Cafe took its place. So we decided to give it a shot. We were very excited to finally be able to enjoy eating out. The location is great, it has a good amount of outdoor seating. Now the food wasnt that bad. It wasnt like OMG I have to come back, but it was ok. It needed a bit more flavoring, but it was edible. My issue was with the little details. For ex., the bathroom had no toilet paper, apparently our server forgot the iced tea and we had to repeat ask for ketchup. If it were busy I may have overlooked this but there were only two tables occupied. Soooo...yeah. The server didnt really come over to check on us. I'm not a premadona, but hey,"are you guys ok, do you need anything else?," is fairly common. No? Am I wrong? I got the feeling that the owner may have been new to running a restaurant. I could be wrong. But that's the impression I got. I will give this place another shot in the future. Maybe with everything going on, they are just trying to get back on their feet. I dont know. Holy over-priced. I went for a walk with my daughter the other day and forgot cash, so couldn't get a coffee at the Dough Hut like I wanted to... so I continued to walk and stopped in here. Ummm nearly $5 for an iced coffee that was basically a small? Annnnnnd to boot there were grinds in the drink, so I was sucking those down. My wife and I came her with my son. I thought the menu was pretty expansive even offering vegan/vegetarian options. I order chicken fingers from the kids menu and was surprised by getting two extremely small wings! I should have complained but didn't. Side from that the food was pretty good and decently priced. Recently, we stopped in looking for an iced coffee. After asking around and finally discovering they do serve ice coffee, and how we could get it, what was served for just short of $5 was warm colored water poured over a very few pieces of ice which melted without ever chilling, but fully diluting the "coffee". I did not plan to write a review, but felt compelled based on management's responses to critical Yelp reviews. It is no coincidence that the bulk of harsh reviews include reference to Thyme's coffee (as well as the lack of operational organization). Based on the below excerpted Yelp review and comment, I think the obvious needs to be stated, **organic does not necessarily equal good, or properly prepared, as in fresh, or sufficient beans to water ratio when brewing**. I very much want to love this place, however, the prices were just ridiculous. Paid over $3.30 for a small pump yourself many hour old coffee. tried the rice and was very very bland. people are super nice, ambiance is great. but come on, its a beach community, that price is just nuts for a coffee. read more

I don't know what the issue is with this place but every time I try and order from there it's closed? But online it says the hours and that they're open (this is even before we've been quarantined) I've probably tried to order from here 5 times just for the hours to be incorrect I wish they would update it or something. The food is also very expensive and it doesn't come with the fingerling potatoes anymore which is disappointing and it takes forever to get your food. Finally, a place in Long Beach that gets it right. Because LB is largely seasonal, I find a lot of the restaurants, especially on the West End, simply don't care about food or service. This place has neither problem. The entire menu looked appetizing and we had a hard time narrowing down the choices. We decided to share a salmon wrap and the buffalo chicken meatballs. They had interesting drinks, lots of smoothies, kombucha on tap, watermelon juice etc. We tried the ginger kombucha which was delicious but I'm a new mom and need as much caffeine as I can get, so I got cold brew coffee instead. After you order at the counter someone brings your food over. I am not sure how they keep the food orders straight in times where things are busy, because you seat yourself and aren't given placards or other identifying items to alert the staff it's your food. The food took about ten minutes to arrive. To say it was fantastic is an understatement. The chicken meatballs were super tender and tasty and had the perfect amount of heat to them. I wanted to have another whole order, but restrained myself. The salmon wrap was amazing. The salmon, like the meatballs, was super tender and moist. The flavors all meshed really well together. They toasted the wrap and seasoned the fish well. They do deliver for no fee as well. Anytime I'm visiting my mom in the area, I'll be sure to patronize this spot! read more

Don't waste your time or money. Delivery service is too slow to enjoy fresh food and too costly to overlook the poor service. Dining in is just as unenjoyable since it's entirely questionable if you'll even get your order. Service has been poor since opening and hasn't been better with time. The food here is outstanding. So fresh, clean, healthy. I would call it sorta plant based paleo. They have salmon, eggs, mahi, quinoa, but also lots of delicious veg based options, a great smoothie menu, kombucha on top, bullet coffee, etc. I have had rainbow bowl w salmon/eggs/avo, and ive had the salmon burger which is homemade and insane. Option to get over grains or greens. Smoothies and avocado toast are also amazing. The service is friendly and the place is airy and bright. Can sit in or outside. Perfect beachside spot. Not cheap but I believe prices are in line w quality. They should add some gluten free baked goods to top it off and would be even more heavenly. read more

This place is a true gem! Went for the first time on my way home from work for lunch- the food is SO fresh and beyond amazing. Their fries are hand cut potatoes that they season perfectly; their fried fish was so light and amazing, and their grilled chicken was perfectly cooked and juicy. You can tell the chef cares about the food he puts out and the presentation and flavors support that tenfold. The staff was extremely kind, attentive and accommodating. Had good salmon bowl and friend had mahi mahi, and they were happy to oblige me to mix greens with grains. Love the laid back decor but the place needs a little bit of organization and housekeeping. The entry to the bathroom was blocked by unloaded boxes, restroom's door and knob was extremely unsanitary, and the restroom itself was disgusting and lacking basic necessities. On the separate note, they were out of grilled salmon around noon so I had to order something else. I also ordered carrot/ginger side with my dish and they were nothing short of spectacular, crispy and refreshingly seasoned. My friend ordered chicken which was juicy and crispy on the outside. In summary, the food deserves 4 stars but general lack of cleanliness of the grounds puts this place at 3 stars. read more

Came here with my 3 year old and hubby. They had run out of açaí bowls but made my my little one a yogurt parfait with delicious home made granola and fresh fruit, my son devoured it! We ordered their grass fed burger and they're chimi chicken. The chicken was amazing and came with two sides ( we got slaw and carrots), finished it all very filling!!! The burg r was also great, the only thing I would add is the option for some sort of potato with it. We'll be back for sure! read more

I wanted to like this place so bad but they are not consistent. I went there few times when opened and it was ok even though not organized as ever new place that's brand new I kind of like the food. Great vibes and look but not consistent with the food. For something I order all the time doesn't come the same. Way too salty or dry also portions are small for the price. If you go for lunch sometimes looks like they used precooked reheated food. For a chicken dish the put literally 5 small prices of chicken. They also use to make their sauces now they use store brand just like every other place so they really are not as unique as they thought or healthy. Staff can't communicate at all they need better training for sure. The only reason is why you get business is because you are by the beach in the summer. This place is a welcome sight at the east entrance to the West End. The staff is friendly; there's a terrific friendly, clean atmosphere. What an awesome addition to LB - healthy, fresh, tasty food. Such a sweet spot to chill...whether you want a smoothie, vitality shot, or something hearty; everything is delicious. The vibe is sweet too - great music, simple and clean decor - and always a plus with a great staff. It's so personable as everything is made in house and Chef Brian loves follow up- you can tell he is proud to be apart of the Island Thyme team. Looking forward to have every meal here...eating clean Breakfast lunch AND dinner with their spectacular hours of 6am-9pm (HARD WORKING CREW), I'll never have a reason to leave! There CHEFBRIAN HEYMAN has traveled the world, with stops at club med and south beach early 90's.Hotels such as The Mark hotel, The Lowes Hotel, The Fitzpatrick grand central hotel. But his most notably culinary accomplishment was his first cook book with 35 of leading chefs in new York city. Want to start off by saying the food was indeed delicious. Got two açaí bowls. Was handed the first one within 5 minutes and took 15 to get the second. She was constantly going back and forth between my bowl and the register to help people rather than finishing our order. Between the four times she did not change her gloves once. Really REALLY wanted to love this place. It has a cool SoCal vibe, beachy but clean and modern lines, food served on individual wooden boards, healthy stuff, bullet coffee, etc. However, we were disappointed when after a 30min wait for our two breakfasts one Sunday, our food was unceremoniously dropped off our our table cold. Do you like cold eggs? Yeah, us neither. Steak and eggs wasn't hot, and came with sweet potato "hash" which was basically a smashed half of a roasted sweet potato. Avocado toast was soggy (prob from the smashed avo sitting on the bread so long) and the poached egg on top was, yep, cold. How the staff who prepped and served this didn't realize, I will never know. They were all buzzing around so feverishly that I doubted bringing it to their attention would be handled quickly or efficiently. I'll prob give this place another shot bc it's new and maybe they're still working out the kinks, but back of house needs to communicate better w runners or else this place is gonna suffer.
